>> reporter: good morning. so this past week, all eyes were focussed on special counsel jack smith. he did make news on thursday, but not for the case that many people were expecting. smith filed a superseding indictment that brought new charges against former president trump in his investigation of trump's handling of classified documents after leaving the white house. last month, trump pled not guilty to 37 federal criminal counts after being indicted by a grand jury connected to the case, alleging that he kept documents at his house in mar-a-lago and blocked th charge allegesis involvement in a plan to delete security video and includes one count of wils onul retention of national defense information and two new obstruction counts which carry maximum sentences of 10 to 20 years respectively. carlos de olivera was named.
