good morning. it is saturday july 29th and a live look outside. sunny over san jose as start our morning. thanks for joining us. i'm velena jones in for kira klapper. cinthia pimentel joins us with your microclimate forecast and as we saw, sun any san jose. what's the weather looking like this weekend, cinthia? >> typical microclimate. a look out there this morning. good morning, velena and everyone. golden gate bridge, no sky july wrapping up the month saying hello to august in a few days. yes. a lot of people already on roadways down here in san jose, beautiful sunshine, of course, makes you want to step outside now. typical bay area start. looking at fog this morning. out along the coastline hugging half moon bay. the second bottom half of the bay area waking up to mild temperatures. north bay, however, up through novato, santa rosa, low 50s. don't worry.

the day is headed for beautiful conditions. no cruel summer temperatures, though, even making our way into the inland valleys. low 90s. a closer look in about 15 minutes. >> thank you. beginning with breaking news. a deadly night on bay area roadways. two people are dead following an apparent wrong-way crash. it happened around 1:15 this morning along 280 in los altos. the driver traveling northbound in the southbound lane before crashing into another vehicle head-on. both vehicles traveling in that wongway vehicle. two other people in the second car taken to the hospital. no word on their conditions. also breaking overnight, one person is dead following a hit-and-run accident in east palo alto. this happened in kirkwood court not far away from cesar chavez ravenswood middle school. the video shot around 2:30, but

the resale sites. >> reporter: reporting for "today in the bay." >> there were no big security issues during the concert at levi's stadium. our crew saw someone taken into custody by santa clara p.d. before the concert. police say they made one arrest one for public intoxication another surrounding a misdemeanor warrant and a third for domestic battery. as we said, swift takes the stage again tonight. for those heading to the concert, the parking lot opens at 2:00 p.m. and gates open at 4:30 p.m. the show begins at 6:30 p.m. and swift will take the stage around 8:00. this morning two legendary restaurants in san francisco are now closed. pompei's grotto and lou's fish shack the latest restaurants to shut down. they stopped pay rent during the pandemic and now owe the port of san francisco more than $1 million. happening today several organizations including oakland naacp will hold a virtual town hall surrounding reparations in california. last month the state's reparations committee released its recommendations for black americans and includes 115 specific recommendations among them a former apology from the state, monetary compensation and dozens of policy changes. several people are expected to speak including the chair of the california reparations passport. today's virtual town hall begins at noon. find details on acts full gos per church facebook page. and caltran riders. see what your new ride will look like. caltrain will be showing off its new and modern electric train at the station in san jose in a couple hours. it should be in service next year. the electric trains are bigger inside and have more room.

welcome back. we are taking a live look at fremont as the sun comes up over the hillside there. a report of the weather, what the weather's looking like for this weekend. well, a new sign is sitting on top of the building formerly known at twitter headquarters, but overnight workers removed the old twitter sign on the building. crews also removing the final bird and letters word-by-word overnight using a power drill. check this out. crews also put up this. a giant x on the roof last night. this comes after the company had trouble taking down the old twitter sign monday. sfpd stopped the crew midway through the job because they didn't have a proper permit.

wi-fi and internet technology and more. tipping fatigue. feel it at the restaurant, barber shop maybe after an uber or lyft ride? adds up, right? turns out to be fatigue is reaching new heights since the pandemic. here's "today in the bay's" marcus washington with more. >> reporter: hey, velena. talking about inflation. impacting people's tipping and so is the growing number of industries asking those customers to actually tip. okay there's a new survey finds nearly four in ten people are feeling the tipping fatigu two-thirds saying the always tip at restaurants. wn from last year. baboomers, most likely to tip. while gen z, least likely. the survey shows people's own budgets are affecteding how they tip. one local financial advisor says those tipping, you know, they actually feel that most of us industries are really affected by this. these are the ones you see tips

dublin. 79 san jose and warmer inland valleys warming up only into the low 90s. by tomorrow might feel the temperatures going up a few degrees. like in santa rosa. through concord and fairfield, 93. sunny throughout the bay area. a few passing high clouds throughout the south bay but temperatures warm 92 morgan hill. 93 san martine. the next days saying good-bye to no sky july, going into august. of course, with cooler temperatures. look how much we dip as we see just a brief warming temperatures for tomorrow dipping down as much as ten degrees in walnut creek, heading out into tuesday and wednesday i don't see anymore heat coming up, at least through next weekend. so we could start to make some of those plans ahead of time, but we'll take a look what to expect in san francisco over the next couple of days. of course, typical breezy conditions moving in with that marine layer. cooler as we go on into the first half of the week.

good morning. it's saturday july 29ing. here's a live look outside in san rafael. cars already on the roadway. looking like a nice and sunny day out there. thanks for joining us. i'm velena jones in for kira klapper. cinthia pimentel joins us with a peek at your microclimate forecast and what can we expect this weekend, cinthia? >> expect fog out at the coastline to mix away giving way to a nice day around the city. no matter what your plans will take you to, but we will start with that no sky july. at least as we hug the golden gate bridge this morning. more peeks of sunshine on the way. heading into inland valleys, it will be a gradual warm-up by the time we head out the door around 10:00 a.m. already in the 70s. but we're not tracking any major heat this weekend. by 2:00, 3:00 p.m. upper 80s to low 90s in spots. most of that major heat

gia vang, "today in the bay." a wrestling show scheduled to take place at the sonoma county fair is under fire. the show uses the n word to describe the wrestlers all little people. tony hernandez reports critics demand the fair cancel the show. >> frankly, it was shocking. >> reporter: the reaction of disabled advocate eli on learning a troupe of little people wrestlers called the m word wrestling warriors scheduled to appear second year in a row. using a derogatory term and depicts little people as oddities. >> this is really about the reinforcement of stereotypes and little people in particular as side shows, as dehumanizing people with disabilities. >> reporter: the center for independent living and little

dance championship. our reporter chatted with the team before they went overseas. >> reporter: from the beat of drums -- clanging cymbals to magnificent stunts. the lion dance performed to bring good luck and prosperity. >> a little more relaxing. you can feel it. >> same line over to two, hop to three. a catch. >> reporter: we caught up with lion dance as they practiced at chinatown the square. >> one, two, three, four -- up. and then dip. >> all right. welcome to the lion's lare. >> reporter: founded lion dance beat and grew up in chinatown. >> i have great memories of chinatown, roaming all over the place. i feel i know ins, outs, back al lis. one sport i like is basketball and like to do that because i love jumping.

knowing that i can do line dance jumping even higher, fascinated me. >> reporter: this will be the first time competing in malaysian lion dance world competition. >> push through. >> reporter: he's leading the youngest team. >> definitely the youngest team by far. right? not many, i don't think, high school people compete in it. it is going to be a great eye-opening experience for them. just to see the culture of lion dance in a different country. >> reporter: going to malaysia. >> our signup 80% females. we are huge women empowerment group. >> reporter: the young pimm are pole jumpers. competing the difficult moves takes a lot of practice, flexibility, strength and trust. >> it's something almost indescribable. >> trusting your partner, and don't stop yourself. >> self-confidence first and foremost. >> making jumps that are ten

>> reporter: the head instructor. he's been with the team for 14 years. >> lion's to me personally more than just a cultural thing. we're doing our best to move forward and push it more as a sport. growing up at a young age i was always very interested in line dance. just being under the custom of being able to -- be in my greatest comfort. just making people smile. it means a lot more now, because i want to keep pushing it to the future generations. that way it's both will continue to grow and evolve. ♪ >> looking at line dance and how lion dance is vibrant. encouraging people to come into our community, but for the long term i think my dream and goal is to see that these youth, it's not a, not just a temporary

a look at what's happening this weekend here in the bay area and across the country. of course, that heat continues to bake parts of the southwest, but with this system to the pacific northwest of us, we are just cruising in these comfortable conditions. of course, we have fog near san francisco, but that should mix out as the evening goes on. plenty to do around the bay area. where i think maybe the wind will help this afternoon, feel the rise quicker, faster, santa clara county fair runs through 1:00 late, until 11:00 and through august 6th. even if you didn't get tickets to taylor swift, plenty to do and enjoy out there as the temperatures near the 80 degrees and plenty of sunshine. a few minutes away. 66 night market for all of you going on in pleasanton, a little warmer there. still nothing we can't handle. maybe a big glags of lemonade will help cool you off. of course it will get windy and gusty out there tonight for red sox at oracle park. bring a jacket and those blankets, because temperatures will cool down very quickly into the afternoon.

what can we expect the rest of us? looking at comfortable temperatures through wine country. concord and over on into fairfield could get into those upper 80s. some low 90s. otherwise staying comfortable throughout the bay area. looking at 77 in sans cruz and lope 90s continue into the south county. by tomorrow, might feel the temperatures bump up a few degrees, but no triple-digit heat. the temperatures short-lived going with 92 in concord. 82 san jose and los 90s through south county. a little warmer out there in san francisco as we see most of those clouds pushing on through what is the south county, because of the way that this monsoon moisture is coming in from parts of the south. so aside from the clouds it will bring up our breeze a little bit out of the southwest, but if your plans take you through the sierra. yosemite, the lakes, maybe up into south lake tahoe, seeing moisture push through. rain. will be brief, but if there is

"today in the bay"s reporter spent time with the team recently and shining the spotlight on the secret to their success. >> reporter: good morning. you know i got to confess. as a sports fan recent dominance of this team kind of flew under my radar. this good for this long in college sports, you got to look at the coach. in this case, stanford's coach past two decades, tom. i asked why all the success recently. he said in the past had to find top athletes who frankly could get accepted in stanford. better at working with high school prospects to help them gem academically ready for the school and gotten better spotting good athletes who are open to coaching as opposed who think they've got it all figured out. a formula that's working. >> must be doing it right. so -- we've had a great, a great run with the guys and got a great
