it is august 7th, and earlier starts right now >> glad to be with you i'm frances rivera. >> and i'm steven romo thanks so much for joining us. we begin with breaking news. seven people sent to a hospital in south texas after a shooting outside of a nightclub the hidalgo county sheriff's office says no one was killed, but two victims are in critical condition. an investigation is still ongoing there. meanwhile, three people were shot and killed in southeast d.c. this weekend, two others were injured in the saturday night shooting the cause of that is under investigation. and anyone with information is asked to come forward. lastly to orlando, where police say the suspect believed to be involved in a friday night shooting that critically injured two officers has now died. the shooting sparked an hours' long manhunt that suspect was killed saturday after exchanging gunfire with police the officers, by the way, are expected to make a full recovery another major deadline

again. and when hospitals are attacked, lives are threatened >> and our thanks to dana for that report. the latest on ukraine takes us to saudi arabia this morning, which hosted a peace summit for ukraine over the weekend and there was some surprising movement on the diplomatic front there. china joined the talks, signaling a possible new approach to moscow the communist party is reported to be in support of a third round of talks it's an effort to finalize a ten-point peace plan that's been endorsed by kyiv but not yet by the kremlin. over the weekend the summit hosted 40 countries, excluding russia china's envoy for special affairs attended after previously boycotting the ukraine peace meetings back in the u.s., four u.s. navy ships responded to a dozen chinese and russian military vessels that were patrolling off of alaska. they appear to be operating
