tropical storm hillary 26 million people in its path are under flood alerts and hillary has already shattered rainfall records in southern california with river levels now soaring. crews have been searching overnight for one person believed to be missing in the santa clara river. governor newsom says his concern now is for people in hard to reach areas. >> i'm worried about some of the more rural and remote areas in the eastern part of the state, some of the more mountainous regions where people can be trapped or there can be debris concerns that's where we're focusing a little more of our extra energy. >> and this is an example of some of those rural areas the governor was talking about, road crews got this video near san bernardino, mudslides are a major problem during and after storms in this region as we've seen so many times santa clarita city shared this video of a road crumbling away into the rushing water michelle grossman will join us with an update in just a moment.

mission's failure this was also a crash landing for russia's ambition to prove it can be a major player in space exploration. this was the first moon mission in almost auto years, 47 years since it was still the soviet union. it was meant to prove that russia could keep up with more advanced lunar programs like in the united states, china, but also india the craft was meant to land today on the moon to become the first spacecraft to land on the south pole of the moon where scientists believe there are large reserves of water and other precious materials, but two days before a similar spacecraft launched by india which is expected to land on wednesday, which is why some analysts believe that russia may have pushed this mission a little too far in an attempt to win the space race with india to become the first spacecraft to land on the south pole of the moon, while losing in the meantime, both the race and the craft, but also its reputation
