your forever friend. seeing loke clouds in oakland mixed in with haze. the picture looks a little grace, if you can tell. down here in san jose waking up to low clouds but temperatures not so bad. warming up nicely this afternoon. how about. in downtown san francisco. a nice saturday there. 85 for you in dublin and low 90s going on into both fairfield and the south county. and as i get through the weather headlines, mixed in with hazy smoke from the pacific northwest but a warming trengd. all dames coming up in the full forecast in a few minutes. kira, back to you. >> cinthia, thanks. we want to begin this morning with breaking news out of the north bay where police are actively searching for a person they call armed and dangerous. this is following a high-speed car chase early this morning. fairfield police tell us around 4:00 this morning they attempted to pull over a car for stolen licence plates, when that driver took out. the chase continued on westbound i-80 where our cameras caught
7:03 am
the chase. police tell us at one point during the freeway pursuit people in the car fired shots at police. the chase ended roughly 25 miles away from hercules where the driver pulled into a safeway on san pablo avenue just off i-80. police say as they arrested the driver a passenger you see there jumped out of the car and ran. that's the man police are searching for. again, he is believed to be armed and dangerous. as we learn more we'll bring updates on-air and online at nbcbayarea.com. from one high-speed chase to another, during the friday evening rush hour this car evaded police from the east bay to san francisco and back. the car dangerously weaving through traffic hitting at least two cars, and the driver at the center of it all being described as a juvenile. it all ended late last night when he finally surrenders after

an hours' long stanff that had one richmond neighborhood on edge. look at this map. the chas started on highway 4 in hercules. raced across the bay bridge going into san francisco. then turning back around and heading into the east bay. "today in the bay's" pete cerrato reports. >> reporter: heading eastbound along the bay bridge as driver of that white infiniti zigzagged in a police chase. started at highway 4 in hercules with a traffic stop by contra costa licence plates. once he drove towards 80 west into the city, he drove recklessly in streets of san francisco and once chp arrived struck a k9 dog and eventually exited in emory ville before reentering the freeway along the
7:05 am
waterfront and continued to sideswipe cars before entering bayview after nuer in richmond. from there drove into an apartment complex hiding in the unit several hours leading to a standoff with police. chp police arrested him shortly after 9:00 p.m. and describe him as a juvenile and will face several charges for his actions. pizza wrought "today in the bay." a baseball fan reportedly shot hems in the leg and ricocheted grazing another woman in the stomach. it's not clear what led to that shooting nor how the woman got the gun inside the stadium. we do know the game continued as scheduled, but a '90s-themed show was canceled afterwards. and a racist text scandal involving east bay police office. now the fate of a murder trial
7:06 am
may hang in the balance. a contra costa county judge ruled the antioch police officers investigating the murder violated the racial justice act by exchanging racist texts during their investigation. now the judge will decide whether the murder case can continue. the defendant's attorneys are pushing for dismissal. >> we want the court to exercise the full extent of its authority to try to restore some integrity to the policing from the antioch police department. >> as you see here tempers also flared outside the courthouse as the mother of one of the murder victims expressed her outrage and that justice for her son could be impacted by the officers' action. recall pamela price. the rallying cry for the d.a.'s opponents who gathered in alameda county yesterday. families who lost loved ones to violence in alameda county

7:08 am
certifies the notice of the recall the group will then have 160 days to gather enough signatures to trigger a recall election. the district attorney herself will be the keynote speaker at a town hall meeting in oakland today. it's happening at the cornerstone missionary baptist church on 38th avenue and starts at 1:00 p.m. the church is asking for questions to be emailed ahead of time. that's according to a flyer posted on the d.a.'s social media pages. this four-day carnival just wrapped up its second day in san francisco's civic center. the area that has been dealing with longstanding problems around open-air drug markets and safety. many hoped the carnival could be the step in the right direction to help turn the city around. "today in the bay" has the report. >> reporter: tons of families came out to enjoy the carnival and some we spoke with say it's a great step. others say this is a step of many for the city to change its
