plus a few things you can do this weekend to protect your identity. >> reporter: the bottom line is imposters are unrelenting and targeting many people more than once and stealing big money even if you have taken steps to protect yourselves. >> it is both startling and disheartening. truck she runs the identities theft resource center in san diego and they help people who have had their identity stolen. >> i don't think we as a society realize just how impactful identity crime rate is. >> reporter: in helping victims, they feel the pulse of identity theft today and it is concerning. 59% the victims say they secure their accounts with multifactor authentication and yet crooks still found a way to steal their identity. i trc said many rooms and feeling anxiety and have difficulty sleeping and trouble passing a background check for a new job. >> these are significant consequences and this doesn't just gone -- go on for a day or month but it can be lifelong.

>> reporter: 26% of victims say crooks stole more than $100,000 impersonating them and 41% said a crook has stolen their identity more than once. >> given the right set of circumstances, anybody can be an identity crime victim. >> we see so many cases here. >> reporter: he is at the better business bureau. >> you probably get 10 to 15 calls a week. >> reporter: we will quickly run through five ways you can protect yourself and some you may know and others may be new. first, protect your paperwork. >> tax documents and financial documents, medical documents. >> reporter: he said each one is a possible puzzle piece for a garbage picking crook so don't just toss them in the trash. >> shred them. >> reporter: audit yourselves.

and she refused treatment and the concert was canceled and no word on any suspects or arrests. more and more it appears the cause of the wildfires on maui was electrical lines and we report that the associated press investigated many images it obtained of electric wires is the source of the fire and they concluded that when the high wind brought down power poles, bear uninsulated wires sparked the dry grass when they fell to the ground and they say on top of that hawaiian electric's mostly wooden power poles weren't sturdy and needed to be replaced and utility is facing several lawsuits from not taking steps like shutting off the power in the face of extreme wind and they say they have long recognized the unique threat of climate change and have spent millions in responses and investigators haven't released an official cause of the fires. coping with the tragedy is taking an emotional toll in maui and today the health secretary visited fire survivors and first responders and locals and troops being

san francisco pride is responding to the viral video showing carlos santana making polarizing comments about gender during the concert and it was recorded last month and shows the musician saying, a woman is a woman and a man is a man and that is it. thursday night he posted on facebook apologizing to the transgender community, but then the post was taken down a few hours later and replaced by a poem that reads, heat begets hate and love begets love. san francisco pride released a statement calling his comments disheartening and saying his

influence provides responsible discourse especially the marginalized position of transgender individuals and the organization said allies like santana should use influence to educate and not spread stereotypes. we have new details about the sudden cardiac arrest of bronny james. a spokesperson said it was due to an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect. he is the 18-year-old son of lakers superstar lebron james. he suffered a cardiac arrest during practice last month and the family spokesperson said the family is confident he will make a full recovery and return to basketball in the very near future. we do have the weather. it is now 60s in san jose and we have a mild weekend but and we have a mild weekend but 90s are around (warehouse ambience)

the bay area is getting another dose of pop mania with beyonce coming to town in a matter of days and this means another boost for businesses and the south bay. >> reporter: slice after slice they say it has been a profitable year for them in santa clara especially those near the stadium with pop stars hitting town almost every month. taylor swift, carol g and now beyonce. >> sales are through the roof on those big events and double and sometimes triple what the store would normally get. >> reporter: her renaissance tour will make its only stop around the area on august 30 and here thousands of members of her beehive are expected to fill santa clara. in fact, fans on social media are already preparing for the

new challenge. >> last year we didn't have anything close to taylor swift or beyonce coming in so it has been a boom for the area. >> reporter: the show is sold out just like several hotels near the stadium. >> sometimes i get a cancellation but within minutes you see my email it is sold out again because of these concerts. you know beyonce is beyonce. >> reporter: he said this year his guests have been music fans from abroad. >> a lot of taylor swift guests will come back again and i will see them again august 30. >> reporter: another superstar to help boost the region. >> get ready. they are expected to meet tuesday to decide whether to make her the honorary mayor the day of her visit which is wednesday and stadium representatives say it is excited to host beyonce and they will work with law enforcement to ensure the safety of their guests.

>> i heard a story she will get a superlarge key to the city like oversized. >> her concerts have been just incredible and they are selling out and she is topping the charts again with this tour. amazing. 2022 was a record-breaking year for national parks in the bay area according to a new report which is golden gate national recreational area which saw over 17 million visitors last year and estimates those visitors spent $1.25 billion in the communities around and that is a nice boost and the highest number they have seen the past decade. they say the numbers are proof the park system is critical the important to local communities and their economy. >> i would say the parks are oblivious to the weather and even if it is raining it is a beautiful place to go. >> a lot of snow melt and runoff. >> comfortable temperatures as well. over the next two days, things will warm up again and

even san jose will eventually see 90s back in the forecast and right now it is 67 with 80s at least for the sunday forecast and tomorrow has hazy skies and oakland with a degrees of 62 and west wind coming in at 15 with patchy low clouds around the area now down to 59. the tri-valley and morgan hills and calistoga hanging onto the 70s and you get some of this marine air hanging onto the 70s in the hills in the santa cruz mountains but a strong onshore push of that will bring in more low clouds. you can see this has actually changed with the ocean temperatures earlier this week were mid 60s so with more wind it does look like it is getting underway in the coast and we drop those temperatures closer to the average is in the low 60s but the seabreeze feels more comfortable than it does over the mid-600 ocean temperatures. we do have low clouds and

drizzle and clearing skies for the afternoon and we should see numbers in the 50s to start the day and then quickly climbing into the 70s and 80s as early as lunchtime with san francisco low 70s tomorrow and mid 70s and oak lend and here's a change for sunday with morgan hills and concorde and even santa rosa close to 90 tomorrow. so the warm-up begins tomorrow but it does really start to kick in by tuesday and wednesday. by monday you have mid 70s for san francisco and close to 80 in oakland and tuesday those numbers go up a little bit more in the mid-90s inland and out toward the inland east bay. and then wednesday mid-90s to 101 in fairfield and 90 in san jose. a bubbly getting close to 80 downtown san francisco and mid 80s and oakland. the temperatures ramp up wednesday and will cool down again thursday and friday as the seabreeze picks up which will lead the temperatures going from the upper 70s and san francisco to low 70s as we

it is official. the 49ers formally announced today trey lance has been traded to the cowboys for a fourth-round pick and the deal happened yesterday before they lost their final preseason game to the charges in the former number three overall pick only played in eight games with only four starts and an ankle injury ended the season early last year and the 23-year-old was never able to show the development they expect it. >> he was tremendous during this whole thing and handled the as well as you could and just asked if there is a good landing spot, i would be appreciative of that. if i am here i am here. >> i said when we told him he would be getting another opportunity that was good he could do that and he did and we felt it would be better for it and he did too. >> the 49ers are rolling with brock purdy as qb number 1 and
