the globe in the wake of a couple of notable absences >> for more on this we go to brie jackson in washington what's on the president's agenda in. >> reporter: president biden will arrive? e india at approximately 7:00 p.m. local time and expected to meet with indian prime minister modi before a number of meetings with leaders on saturday. reporters were told on air force one that the president hopes to engage with other leaders on a number of pressing issues at the summit, including climate and food security. biden will also focus on the role of the world bank in order to fight poverty one major absence will be xi jinping who will be sending the country's premier instead. biden and xi have not spoken since last year's g-20, but the white house made clear xi's absence will not change the u.s.' goals at the summit.
