and 2021. this is out of roughly 440 emergency call centers worldwide. for weeks we tried following up about the gap in reviews. but the agency never got back to us. when we reached out, a spokesperson said the fcc does not oversee how 911 call centers are regulated under state law. the fcc issues a survey to the reporting jurisdictions but cannot compel the reporting jurisdictions for all information requested. >> as for oakland, for more than two months and after more than a dozen emails and calls to all of these oakland officials, none of them agreed to sit down with the investigative unit and talk about the cities 911 problems. they cited the civil grand jury response process that they need

>> no one from the city of oakland agreed to sit down with the investigative unit to talk about the cities 911 problems but they brought it up during the community safety meeting this weekend. >> yes and we need to do better. stay tuned tomorrow or actually monday as we will be announcing these things in accordance with how we approach this to solve the actual call rate. so when you're calling 911 and if you get a busy signal. but i called just before them. that's a problem. but we see that. that is coming on monday. >> our investigative unit was covering oakland 911 system since july. of course we will continue to follow the story closely and will update you tomorrow if and when the mayor's office may to decision with the problem.

of the day or week. >> one of bart's director says this is where there is the opportunity to grow. >> a lot of transit agencies are looking at changes and knowing that ridership patterns are changing . they were dependent on the 9-5 commute and they have to go with the riders are. >> weekend ridership has grown more quickly between 60% and 70% of pre-pandemic ridership. were the weekday ridership is just about 40%. the change also comes with a big boost for riders on the yellow line. >> they will get the increase in the service as well because the trains have been crowded for a while now and the trains have been running every 15 minutes. now they will run every 10 minutes. >> this is the line they are

improving on and it really helps. >> changes include eliminating 30 minute wait times on nights and weekends. the 50% increase in evening service seven days a week. reduced wait times scheduled with new transfers. trains will run shorter to enhance safety and cleanliness. on-time performance and better reliability is expected during the peak commute. as the oakland airports are expected to see improved service. >> i think it would make a difference to a lot of people and then to sit here for 25 minutes for the next part. >> besides service changes you will notice a change for the cars there riding. today is the last day the legacy trains will run regularly. >> it is being billed as the world's largest ai event and it all starts in san francisco on tuesday. with thousands of people expected to pack san francisco center this week for the highly anticipated conference.

rubble from the deadly earthquake in morocco. the death toll has climbed to over 2100 with another 2400 people injured, including americans. the 6.8 magnitude quake was marco's deadliest in six decades. military is searching through debris to find any survivors. they are prepared to respond to the earthquake. they faced the challenge of reaching the worst affected villages in the high atlas. it's a high mountain range were settlements are often remote and were many houses crumbled. we are following the story closely as search efforts continue. we are posting updates on our website. >> hundreds gathered in san francisco today to demand the end of an illegal blockade entered endangering armenians. this is the latest of several protest from last december when the government of armenia's neighbor, azerbaijan, block the main supply road.

amidst our darkest times. >> the ceremony also recognizes passengers on board united flight 93. who decided to fight back against the terrorist who hijacked the plane. but instead the plane crashed in shanksville, pennsylvania. the memorial focus of those who died on flight 93. among those on board there were two graduates now considered heroes. >> as bagpipes play more than 150 people came together at the flame of liberty memorial in los gatos to remember day more than two decades ago that few can forget. for this community, the terrorists attacks on september 11th of 2001 is when two graduates died. there on united flight 93 after rushing the cockpit and

ultimately thwarting terrorist efforts to slam the plane into a building in washington, d.c. instead it crashed into a field likely saving hundreds of lives on the ground. >> they are some true heroes. we need more people like them out there. >> at today's memorial with the names of each of the victims on flight red and a bell ring to honor them. for some, this is a day to reflect on how to move forward. >> as a country and as a people and as a support group. these are the lessons we need to carry forward. you ask people that want to get involved and do you know your neighbor? let's start there. that's how you build community. >> the 21 gun salute punctuated the of silence. then they flew into the air as a symbol of hope and a reminder that freedom is fragile. nbc bay area news. >> the fruit fly quarantine

does not appear to be affecting south bay farmers markets. at least not yet. after a quarantine on santa clara county after eight flies were found in santa clara and sunnyvale. it covers 112 square miles impacting the entire city of santa clara and parts of cupertino and sunnyvale. we spoke to vendors at a farmers market in san jose and i told us that previous quarantines have meant business. >> with all of our cruise and going around all of the tenants. it makes it difficult for customers to come out. it does affect ourselves. >> the oriental fruit fly is known to infest more than 230 types of foods including all cutters, apples, and tomatoes. the quarantine remains in effect until june of next year.

>> it looks so much fun at the pride parade today and i'm so sad i missed it. but we will still have all of the nice weather that we had over the weekend. it was warm in the valley and we have one more day of that before was here temperatures coming down. were winding down from a busy weekend as we look at the bay bridge where we had all clear skies. and that continues for now. then we start to see the clouds and the fog rolling back in early in the morning. take a look at the temperatures right now the mid to upper 60s and it's 63 and oakland and 67 in dublin. 75 now in concord. some of the valleys were really hot earlier today. it is just now starting to come down where it feels a little more comfortable. let's talk about what is ahead for tonight as of into the fog will return to the coastline and make it back to the golden gate bridge by early tomorrow morning.

overall we have another nice and comfortable day but the valleys will see highs in the mid to upper 80s and the low 90s and a couple of spots. as we move ahead, they will basically be a weather pattern that repeats each day. were settling in with more of the same conditions each day. were starting out tomorrow morning with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. we will be at 60 degrees for concord as you are getting up and heading out and especially for the early risers. we will see temperatures at noon at 70 degrees in dublin and 80 in nevada. partly cloudy with mild temperatures for the sign of the time of year and san francisco at 71 degrees. as we week reached the peak of the temperatures we see the inland east bay and the south county in the mid to upper 80s once again. but this will be the last day

will have temperatures like that before it cools off. as we transition to the cooler air, the wind will be picking up tomorrow. take a look at the wind gusts coming in from the north and northwest. san francisco with 36 mile-per- hour wind gusts during the middle of the day. make sure everything around the home is strapped down and ready for high winds. common down late in the evening the temperatures will come down as well. we will see a series of low pressure systems moving across the pacific northwest and this will provide us with a stronger ocean breeze to keep the temperatures down for the coastal areas. take a look at gilroy with high temperatures of 83 on monday. the rest of the week is 70s. it will be nice and for some of us may be a taste of fall. but we will see some of the inland valley's warming into the upper 80s. with livermore and santa rosa. were still looking with mid to upper 80s throughout the week and next weekend is looking nice. along with santa clara about valley in the upper 70s with low 80s until the weekend.

taking a look at san francisco's forecast with not much of a change as we see the return of the low clouds and fog and temperatures in the 60s and low 70s throughout much of the week. overall, nothing sticking out here but just one more day of the inland valleys before cools off a bit for most of us. >> we will be watching out for this time of year and any time you have wind, you watch out for the fire danger. >> up next, returning to the streets of san jose. concerned about the future.

to ride bikes and walk and enjoy food trucks along the way. but the city is considering cutting the number of events to pay for the new union deals. one person we spoke to said she would not like that. >> there are a lot of people here who enjoy it and of all the things to come, i feel like we could probably find the money somewhere else or think of another strategy to put this on the chopping block. >> no official announcements have been made whether the proposed cuts will directly impact this event. >> tens of thousands of people came out to mountain view this weekend for the city's big festival. with artists and craft makers and performers and food vendors and more. this year marks the festival 51st year. they were voted the best festival in the south bay several times. >> it's a lovely way to explore what mountain view has to offer

nancy pelosi's husband is due back in court this week. he is due for status update hearing facing the state trial in federal trial along with breaking into nancy pelosi's home last october and then attacking her husband with a hammer and seriously wounding him. the federal trial will happen first and could start as early as next month. that will be followed by the state trial. >> the situation in morocco is devastating with the death toll with a staggering number and rescuers are digging through the rubble to find survivors but the hardest hit areas are still extremely difficult to reach. we are on the ground. >> reporter: tonight new images for the moment this earthquake tore through the city of marrakesh. at a rooftop restaurant tourists were running for their lives. this person fleeing as rubble crashes around him.

others escaping through alleyways of death toll today rising above 2148 hours after the quake, the desperate search for survivors is now in a critical phase. bringing moments of breathless joy as some are pushed to safety. but also heartbreak when the rescuers arrived too late. we traveled up a winding mountain road. locked in places by boulders to reach this village. >> were standing in front of all that is left with the village shrine with the rubble and debris in front of it is of the little reminders of people shattered lives. including their mail and bills. >> reporter: local say more than 40 people died here. and among them they lost three daughters and a baby son and wife.

worn-out flags. >> in san diego, dozens of people have shown up at the 22nd annual 911 memorial stair climb after coming 110 flights of stairs. the same number of floors as the twin towers. >> it's reminder climbing the stairs and what they want is exactly what i'm doing right now. but you can just never forget what happened that day. just educate people and let them know what happened and why we do what we do every day. education is the biggest thing. >> with the emergency responder who lost their life but the climb represents the heroic journey that first responders made going towards danger to save lives. >> with families that will inevitably spend a lot of time

in the hospital. this year they are celebrating their 15th anniversary. we have the story and tonight's bay area proud. >> i love this project so much. >> there's times in a beautiful act of kindness has its origin in a tragic turn of events. such as with kids and art. it's a story almost 2 decades old. every detail of which they could still remember. although she wishes otherwise. >> thanksgiving of 2005 he was years old. >> it begins with being diagnosed with leukemia. what followed was six years of hope and disappointment of recovery and relapse. and way too much time spent in the hospital. >> we ended up spending so much time in the waiting room. >> reporter: so she turned her loved art as a way of transporting herself and his older brother to a more cheery place in their minds.

>> it was small projects that kept all of us busy and distracted and i could see them being silly. they would laugh and smile. you find a lot of joy and laughter. >> until others took note of what was going on. >> little by little, all the kids started joining us. there was a table to take that over. and that was the beginning of something that i had no idea that it was important. i said it was important for me and my family. i did not realize it was important for everyone in the hospital. >> is also the beginning of kids and art. now in its 15th year. through artist led workshops and online experiences and kids to patients and their families. there now engaging thousands of seriously ill children each year in art as therapy with 19 hospitals in 12 states.
