condemnnation, president biden is set to deliver remarks. what are we expecting him to say? >> reporter: so president biden is set to address the u.n. general assembly at 10:00 a.m. this morning and on friday, marble security advisor jake sullivan gave an idea of what the president's remarks will include >> in that speech, he will lay out for the world the steps that he and his administration have taken to advance the vision of american leadership that is built on the premise of working with others to solve the world's most pressing problems >> and over the next two days, president biden will hold meetings with u.n. officials and world leaders, including israeli prime minister netanyahu and president lula of brazil ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy is also attending the general assembly for the first time since the war in ukraine began if february of 2022. but he is not expected to meet with president biden until the two of them are back here in

washington on thursday biden's address on the world stage immediately follows the completion of a major foreign policy maneuver that closely watched prisoner swap between the u.s. and iran. it involves iran getting access to $6 billion in oil revenues that were frozen under u.s. sanctions, which led to some republicans accusing the white house of paying a ransom to a country that sponsors terrorism. the u.s. is not paying iran for these prisoners, nor will iran have access to these funds directly president biden will take the stage at the u.n. just a few short hours after the freed americans are scheduled to arrive back on american soil also, iranian president ebrahim raisi is expected to speak later in the day >> brie, thank you >> let's get an update on the return of those freed americans. they flew overnight from qatar to the united states

chapman bell is follow the journey for us good morning this had cewill certainly be an incredibly emotional homecoming today. >> reporter: that's right, jessica, that plane arriving qatar. and u.s. officials were there on the ground to greet them in doha according to the families, one of the families of the prisoners released, all five families spoke with president biden and jake sullivan. according to one senior diplomat in qatar, all five of those passengers are on a plane heading to the u.s. to the washington, d.c. area. they took off after meeting with official there and they're all believed to be in good health and in good spirits as well. one of those released, americans saying in a statement that he's been dreaming of this day for eight years and cannot wait to

crossing the u.s. border in mexico are increasing. the latest data shows an average of just over 4300 illegal crossing for the month of july, two officials tell nbc that 7500 migrants were apprehended just this last sunday the biden administration has touted the decrease since implementing new policies in may. a spokesperson says they remain vigilant and expect to see fluctuations in the number of migrants coming across the border >> reporter: police in los angeles are investigating the death of two women they were found days apart in their downtown apartment but they don't believe the cases are related. police say the death is being investigated as a homicide she's the sister of a pop star named jordan pauline police are waiting for a medical examiner's report in the other case and say there is no link
