fighter facing a fight of her own. this is "today in the bay." good morning on this thursday. thanks for allowing us to be a part of your morning. >> laura has the morning off. but we'll take a look at traffic in a second, but guess who is back? >> i missed you and the viewers. but i'm back to being happy doing the weather. and i'm loving the weather. but i haven't been forecasting much at home. but let's look right now at how the temperatures are doing. we are going to be seeing a little warm-up into the afternoon. and let's look at the temperature trend for san francisco. because it has been windy at times in some spots, but right now we're seeing some light wind

speeds, 56 in san francisco. and you will notice we have the clear skies. if you look at the temperature trend, your lunch hour is starting to bump up in toot 60s. and it will be warm in san francisco. we'll bunch up into the low 70s this afternoon. pleasant thursday ahead before changes move in. and another cooldown is on the way. and now a look at the roads. you might see overhead signs approaching the richmond bridge saying no wide loads. that is because the three right lanes are still blocking. the wider lane is for larger loads. but rest of the traffic can get through on the four lanes that are open. 4, 37, the bay bridge the typical patterns.

and in the east bay, one person dead after an early morning multicrash on interstate 880. it happened about 1:00 in the morning in the southbound lanes near the north 8th street exit. the exact number of cars involved not yet clear, but the chp is saying one woman died and others are now in the hospital. no word exactly on the cause of the crash. all lanes is been cleared. developing now in the middle east, people in suburban tel aviv are singing israeli national anthem from the balconies of apartment buildings last night. the viral video shows many people singing along and last verse was followed by a round of cheers. here is a live look at gaza city. the number of dead continues to rise. there are now about 2600 confirmed deaths with an almost

organizations or violent extremist groups and we continue to remove such accounts in real time. elon musk laid off much of the company's content team shortly after he took control of twitter. lack of control had already been a concern. and not just here in the u.s., but all over the world. as we've said, they don't have the manpower to do what they say that they will do. and then promises from musk or companies associated with musk tend not to come true. almost exactly a year ago, musk announced that there would be a contents panel in charge of major decisions at twitter, things like whether or not to allow donald trump to return. and then he announced on his own that he would return without consulting with the panel because there isn't a content panel. whatever the company is associated with, i'll remind you, there was supposed to be a million robo taxis by 2022.

the latest data on consumer price index, key measure of inflation, we're still looking at the numbers but the head line is prices rose more than expected. up 7% from this time last year. and that is well off all-time highs around 9%. and we also got a look at the notes from the last fed meeting where they kept rates steady. notes show about half the fed governors favor a future raise. the other favor once again letting it ride. no rate hike. and a new survey from the investment bank piper sandler finds for the first time more teens are watching youtube than netflix. in fact 30% of their tv time is spent on youtube. and tiktok is their favorite video channel in general. and analysts point out both are free. netflix and disney, hulu all

high school seniors and parents listen up, the deadline to submit early decision and applications is quickly approaching for many schools. in most cases november 1 is the date but experts say it is just -- it is not just about applying for school but also about paying for it. we spoke with director over outreach for the national test prep association and he says that there are a few things that student and parents need to keep in mind. >> a lot of times families look at the sticker price of a school and that turns them off from applying. so they might look at some of the institutions that are upwards of $60,000 a year and say there is no possible way that i could afford that. but the sticker price is not the price that the vast majority of students pay. so it is ironic that some of the most expensive schools that are

police say they responded to reports of a 16-year-old taunting people with a knife. but when an officer tried to detain him, the suspect stabbed him. and one bystander jumped in to help take down the suspect who is now in custody. police says officer's injuries are not life-threatening and there are no other outstanding suspects. contract talks resume today for kaiser permanente workers threatening to stage another longer walkout. last week it lasted three days about and union leaders are talking about a possible strike next month if a new deal is not reached by november 1. this time it would also continue for one full week and likely involve more workers nationwide. a live look inside the shark tank this morning because i want you to get ready, everyone. tonight is opening night. sharks drop puck in a new nhl season. tonight they host the knights.

that. a know a know me, 80. in the north bay, we'll see a cold front making its preach. by about 11:00, you'll see the clouds rolling in. but by 10:00 tomorrow, a lot of areas to the south are clear. and you will notice slight cooldown because of the cold front and then up through the north bay, here is where the system starts to trickle in early saturday morning. but very small amounts of it. so not a complete washout of a saturday morning and a lot of that will stay primarily up through parts of ukiah. less than a quarter of an inch. saturday afternoon things clear out but temperatures remain slightly cooler. and we have the partial solar eclipse. and the thing we have to monitor there will be the cloud cover. inland temperatures notice by

next week do start to warm up again. so interesting pattern there. we'll go from warmer to cooler and then back to warmer. and we do have the crash north 880 at broadway downtown oakland. one lane blocked, but a good backup because the commute continues to build. west 580 is a good option. expect slowing from the coliseum up to downtown oakland. and rest of the east bay shows a pretty smooth flow of traffic. and at the bay bridge, we have the hov blocked but now they are moving again. so whatever it was, better. happening now, cybersecurity experts are applauding a bill just signed in to law by governor newsom. and that will benefit public schools from hackers. and it will expand measures at all grade levels and help develop new digital safe guards. it will be fronted bien a agency
