four years later, he was being investigated by internal affairs for his off-duty social media posts. we are just learning about it now, because we obtained the disciplinary record when the department disclosed them under a recent state law. >> most burglars, they won't work with other people. >> reporter: when the pandemic hit in 2020, investigators learned wong took up cooking to pass the time off duty and began posting about his culinary creations on instagram but made many sexually-charged rechtss to sexually-charged refrgs of references. he wrote, like pets and sex, these are two things great individually but should not be combined. pairing cinnamon rolls and cookies is the best thing since combining chocolate and peanut butter. most of the other posts under the name immature baker are too

opportunity around the santa clara valley, tri valley, 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., just before sun rise, we'll see a little bit more rain, and then the skies start to clear out, and we'll see more sunshine in the monday forecast. look at the low temperatures, north bay clearing out. lows probably in the upper 40s and low 50s. temperatures by lunchtime into the afternoon. mostly 70s inland. and low 70s around oakland. 73 in san jose. 81 in fairfield. tuesday. may be the warmest day of the week. upper 70s inland. then watch the temperature trend now, wednesday, 60s with increasing clouds. mid-60s on thursday. rain possible late. it's really two weather systems we're watching to bring rain chances our way. wednesday is a chance that looks mainly aimed for the north bay. but there's cold air behind it that could bring snowshowers to the sierra, and right now looks

but it isn't going extinct, but it is getting different. winter is getting shorter and warmer. the fastest warming season by 3.3 degrees since 1970. from the great lakes to new england up to seven degrees hotter. there's less of a break from summertime heat. another big one out west is that if temperatures remain warmer longer into the year and let's say we have precipitation not really kick in, in the early winter, that means could you extend the wildfire season out west, that combined with temperatures warming up earlier means that you might see less snowpack. >> reporter: second overall drops but big snow reese main. snows remain. when one does hit, it can dump

more snow. a warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, more potential snow. that can amp up lake-effect snow in buffalo, monster storms in california and powerful nor'easters. >> you're getting more ferocious storms as a result of climate change. it's almost like a feast or famine situation. >> reporter: remember the storm in texas? it was formed by the rapidly-weakening arctic. >> when we have one of those cold spells, it's because the jet stream is taking one of these big southward swings, that allows the arctic cold to penetrate further south than usual. we are seeing these happen more often when the arctic is very warm. >> reporter: we can no longer look at past winters to predict

future winters. thousands came out to a day of the day celebration in los angeles today. the 11th annual event in downtown san pedro, part of l.a., was full of color, music and memories. a special memorial was set up for kobe bryant and his daughter. organizers of the event set up the altar because the two were so beloved in los angeles. many others were honored. we're not even at halloween yet, but it's beginning to look a lot like christmas at rockefeller center. >> check this out. >> wow. >> the ice rink has officially opened for the season yesterday. this surprised terry and me.

it's the rubiks cube of the answer to all this. >> back here in the bay area, the man accused of killing a san francisco tech executive is due back in court this week. a judge is expected to set a trial date on wednesday october 25. momeni has been b bars since allegedly stabbing the man. a judge denied setting bail for a second time. the two men knew each other and were seen together minutes before the attack. momeni has pleaded not guilty to murder charges. our investigative unit has been uncovering a lot of problems with 911 calls. a mother in oakland says she got caught between two strange cars when both drivers pulled out guns, time shoot. she called 911, but her calls dropped. >> reporter: this problem, a busy and dropped 911 calls are

still happening in oakland. it's supposed to help alleviate pressure on 911 dispatchers, kesa henderson says it left her hanging on the line, too. >> i have twin daughters, picking them up from school. they were in the car with me. >> reporter: on september 21st, kesha was driving in oakland. >> when i looked in my rear view mirror there were two speeding cars. they ended up boxing me in. literally the car behind my pulled out his gun and aimed it at the car in front of me. and i'm in the middle. that's when i called 911. i couldn't get through. it's a busy signal and it hangs you up. >> now a school was around the

corner. she called the non-emergency number. she was just trying to get ahold of someone. phone records show she called four times. >> i was blocked out four times from even the non-emergency line. >> this same log shows henderson called the non-emergency line the day before when she says a neighbor said someone in a ski mask was in a car in front of her house. >> i was on hold for like an hour and 30 something seconds. >> did you just say an hour and a half? >> it's an hour and a half. >> reporter: they're handled bit same department that takes 9'11" calls. oakland second worst answering time in california. oakland was put on notice, saying they had 1 months to bring 911 answer times into

compliance. and opd would no longer receive funding. the city is investing $2.5 million into its 911 system. this week she spoke about the issue at the state of the city address. >> in the next year, 911 response times will improve significantly. and we will not stop making progress until we fully fix 911. >> reporter: oakland did not respond to our questions for this story. but in its reply to the state's notice, it said it's recruiting and streamlining hiring and asked the state for more money, saying artificial intelligence paid for by the state might help with answering non-emergency calls. >> there's just a lack of enforcement. >> reporter: police said they're investigating the near shootout she was involved with. she organizes events like this. >> my name is kesha henderson,

can't believe it's already been ten years, but ten years since endurance swimmer diana nyad swam 111 miles from havana to key west in florida. she was the first person to complete that swim without a shark cage. you might remember. she's also 64 years old at the time. today she commemorated that anniversary, not with a swim herself but by helping reintroduce a sea turtle to the wild. there she is right there. 120-pound female green sea turtle was rehabilitated at the turtle hospital. turning to climate in crisis. in the caribbean, there's a very visible reminder of global warming. unusually warm water is causing the region's worst episode of coral bleaching. it's when brightly-colored coral

becomes white due to stressors. it is still alive but not healthy. there is concern that a catastrophic die is likely ahead. time to take you live outside. now this is a live look from the emeryville camera over the bay bridge looking into san francisco. and i don't know, kind of misty out there, looks like. >> drizzle. >> is it a drizzle storm? >> a little more than hair spray consistency right now but enough to make things damp. roadways are an issue. you may still have wet roadways for tomorrow morning and seeing a little more than heavy mist or drizzle. we'll show you that on the ray areda. 60s to low 70s highs.

muggy around the south bay. 65 in san jose. mostly cloudy into walnut creek. a few light showers, and there is a look at the wet roadways across the golden gate bridge. 61 with heavy drizzle at times. it's north bay. marin county to sonoma county. tops for rainfall total, about a half inch to three quarters. meantime, san jose, tri valley, kind of rain shadowed out. enough to wet the ground at times. and we're still seeing some showers here across napa county. notice the movement here from north to south. eventually this is going to find its way into the east bay and south bay after midnight

tonight. one more wave of showers passing through. you may hear that outside, 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. it might bring up rain totals slightly from san jose to morgan hill. by 5:00 and 6:00 a.m., clear in the north bay. then by lunch time, sunshine everywhere. even out to the coast, and a little bit of a warmup on the way after a chilly start to the morning. low 50s in the north bay. showers move out. sunshine moves in. by lunch time, 60s and 70s, mid to upper 70s. now tuesday we'll see highs in the mid to upper 70s inland. but wednesday and now thursday trending cooler again, back moo in into the 60s.

we're shifting the precipitation type. that will bring a chance of snowshowers. but thursday night and friday might be the better opportunity for rain like we had today. and look how cold it is up there toward the sierra. might see some of the first winter weather advisories of the season. now for next weekend plans, right now, does look like we're going to clear those skies out. and for right now, heading closer to trick-or-treat time there for halloween, looks like clouds moving in. but rain holding off as we finish off the month of october. just like that. so there's your seven-day forecast. a little warmer for a couple days. once the skies clear tomorrow. and then cooler changes. lows by the way will be in the mid to upper 40s. you can't get around with the windbreaker anymore. you're going to have to find a real jacket. and an umbrella at times.
