in some spots and it's going to be partly to mostly cloudy, and our high temperatures headed for the 60s and 70s once again. then we are looking at our weekend forecast that will be mostly sunny and dry, nice fall temperatures around the bay area, and then going into next week we're looking at some rain as well as sierra snow. here's a look at what we're starting with this morning in the upper 30s, and definitely that's the coldest temperature i have on the map here, and it's 47 in san jose. then looking at our highs, back to where we were yesterday. do we have a crash on highway 4? >> we did have a crash, still on the grid but the last of the chp units might have just cleared. it's countercommute, in the area that's less traveled and definitely less traveled at 5:02. while i monitor that one incident on the chp report we of course monitor all this activity for apec in san francisco, not a

lot of changes with changes, we'll continue to skrup date you on the show and online as well. we're looking at the south bay and the tri-valley, no builds, easy drive right now. back to you. >> well, in just a few hours families and teachers will protest against a resolution made by the oakland teachers' union. they say it's anti-semitic. today in the bay's bob rudell, the union walked back other comments considered to be anti israeli. >> you are correct, good morning, marcus, the oakland education association which represents teachers in the oakland unified school district, they walked back those comments late last month. earlier this week, we're now in november, of course, they passed a resolution that critics say blames israel for the violence in the gaza strip, even though it was hamas who attacked israel on october 7th. the oea posted this on facebook, it's still on there, we the

oakland education association mourn the tragic loss of both palestinian and israeli lives those past weeks -- these past weeks. we unequivocally condemn the 75 year long illegal military occupation of palestine. the israeli government created an apartheid state and the israeli government leaders have espoused general sigh dal rhetoric and policies against the people of palestine. later this morning at 9:30 jewish families and teachers will lead a protest outside the elementary school in oakland. they say this resolution makes them feel unsafe and unwelcome in the oakland unified school district. here's tyler gregory with the jewish community relations council. >> this is encouraging jewish families and teachers to leave the district, so whether that's intended or not, that's how our community is perceiving it. >> reporter: late last month the oakland education association shared a pro-palestinian statement on instagram, the post called israel a, quote,

genocideal apartheid state and it did not mention the october 7th attack on israel. after criticism from parents and teachers the union took the post down, then the union released a new statement on facebook saying it was listening to students, families and teachers. it also called attention to the loss of life on both sides. the union maintained its support for a cease-fire, but again there's that new resolution this week that seems to at least partially support those original comments that they walked back. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay," we have a . we have a live look at the gaza border. israel is agreeing the pause its offensive each day for four hours. doing so for humanitarian reasons, israel is not calling this a cease-fire in any way, shape or form but it would allow more aid to get into gaza and more palestinian civilians to head south from gaza city.

israel did not halt its offensive this morning but says it will announce the stoppages three hours ahead of time. secretary of state adrian arambulo -- antony blinken is welcoming the news. he and lloyd austin are in india today, their goal is to boost cooperation and align defense policies in the indo-pacific region. blink been said too many palestinians have already died, and humanitarian aid is critical. new explosions could be seen today over gaza as israeli forces pound the hamas-controlled enclave. palestinian health leaders claim israel launched new air strikes on or near at least three hospitals. israel denied the claims but across gaza hospitals are now struggling to bring in clean, water and fuel, up to 20 gaza hospitals may be totally out of commission. in contra costa county a driver is in the hospital after being shot at least once and crashed into a median.

police say they received several 911 calls about this scene last night along richmond parkway. it happened just after 6:00 p.m. between goodrick avenue and giant highway. witnesses telling police one driver was chasing another and someone was firing a gun. police say that that suspect took off following the crash, so far no arrests have been made. now to a live look in san francisco this morning where city workers are making those last-minute preps. they're in last-minute prep mode and they're setting up barriers and cleaning up the area around the sconi center, all in preparation for the asian-pacific economic cooperation summit or apec which officially kicks off tomorrow. san francisco will host thousands of people, including president joe biden, and chinese president xi jinping. security will be tight. world leaders at apec focusing on economic issues, for san francisco leaders they really say this conference is a way to present the city in a different

rates, .2% of kirnd -- >> hollywood's long drawn out labor saga may be in our collective rear view. because sag-aftra leaders are expected to approve that new contract deal, reached wednesday, with studios and streamers, provided everything goes as planned, the rank and file vote will follow soon after, that means a mad scramble in set to get under way to kick start hollywood productions. one vanity insider telling "today" that some productions will likely work overtime to get the stalled shows back on track. >> a lot of things were just sort of totally in limbo, and i think people are going to work harder into the -- work longer into thanksgiving week, probably work longer into december than they normally would around the winter holidays because, again, i think hollywood is just dying to get back to work. >> some hollywood's future so-called tent pole films are

happy friday to you, the time is 5:14. let's head to livermore with a look at our day planner. at 8:00 it's still quite chilly out there. but look at that in two hours it jumps up ten degrees. we have quick warming for a nice mild afternoon, and then also a quick cooldown this evening as soon as the sun sets. we'll get a look at what's ahead for the weekend coming up in a few minutes. if you're headed to the golden gate bridge, this beautiful clear drive, the view over here shows southbound with headlights. we've seen no traffic breaks out of the robin williams tunnel. crews should be clearing. i'll check the grid. friday we like to call it a week a little early if you can. i hope you can. good morning, and happy almost weekend to you.

stocks took a dip ahead of the -- when the head of the fed warned it might not be done raising rates. amazon cutting jobs in its streaming music division, it's part of a bigger layoff announced earlier. microsoft owned act vision releases a call of duty video game made by folks in foster city. fed chair jay powell said the fed won't hesitate to raise interest rates if needed to get inflation back down to 2%. that was enough to startle investors who thought for sure the fed was done raising rates. you might pay less in taxes. the irs has increased the amount of the standard deduction so there's more money you don't pay taxes on, and it's raised the brackets. that's a good thing. you may have fallen out of a higher tax bracket under the new math. the first bracket hits 23,000. the next at 94,000. and then 201,000.

so all of them have been bumped up, you may fall under a line you used to cross. now, the brackets go above 201,000 of course, most of us won't care. marcus, you will want to know the top tax bracket is now 731,000. the head of a big real estate firm told investors he thinks about 25% of americans will never go back to the office. some companies are demanding their employees return, that's not going well. companies that make ultimatums are seeing a lot of people quit. >> we can do most if not all of our work, as knowledge workers in particular, from home. and so why are we making these sacrifices to our personal health, family time, when we could take those commute hours back in particular, and reapply those to other things, and then also be just as productive at home, be happier, and more engaged? >> that will come up with some solutions for both bosses and employees on the next episode of press here, that's sunday morning at 9:00. the fella i was talking to,

middle with our temperature at 47 degrees, 45 in oakland, and then as we take a look at our high temperatures for today, looks really nice, i don't know if it gets anymore perfect with highs up to 70 degrees in noise and 73 in morgan hill. east bay, temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s, and pleasanton. 69 in palo alto. and 68 in downtown san francisco. i do think we'll see a lot more sunshine today, and that's also going to make it feel much nicer. we have those clouds roll in yesterday evening, and it did produce some light rain. we're still watching the north bay for a chance of spotty showers but the next system is starting to gear up out there in the pacific, and we'll be here early next week. we're looking at a lot of the storm system to stay offshore, possibly until tuesday to wednesday, but the models are still going back and forth, and a small east or west placement

of that area of low pressure that's going to come in could make a huge difference on when the rain comes in, and how much we could see, so there's still a lot up in the air in terms of rain next week, we do know that we are going to see some rain, and it looks like it will be off and on for several days. so, some of our models are showing that along the coastline. we could see possibly one to two inches of rainfall, while other areas may get a lot less, and for us here, snow, once again models going back and forth but it looks like we'll get some snow next week, may not be as much as we originally expected, and of course the temperature makes a huge difference. it's looking like a very nice veterans day weekend for us. highs in the low 70s for the inland areas, cool starts to the morning, next week that rain will be off and on, and we'll be fine-tuning the amount we're expecting early next week. mike, it's a friday, is it light? >> it's a holiday friday for

mainly our north bay towns seeing some light rain to start out this morning and clouds elsewhere across the area. but a quick wave of showers near ukiah and clear lake, east and away from the bay area. our temperatures are starting out in the upper 30s and low 40s. it is a chilly start, but then as we take a look at our forecast for today, it's going to clear out, and our temperatures reach into the upper 60s and low 70s. santa rosa reaching 69, and 68 in petaluma, and in napa. 71 in novato. and san rafael 67 degrees. and mike, the commute might be different today. >> first of all, friday is lighter than usually the other four days of the week. but also it's a holiday observed by many schools, parents may be taking advantage of that, that might be why we have a lighter commute. no slowing across contra costa county, 580.

sessions. some apec-related events are already going on ahead of the summit, one of them continuing today, will no doubt play a role in the president's just announced high-powered meetings. go ahead and catch your breath a little bit. we know that the first of two-day meetings between the two officials took place in san francisco was yesterday. they met in beijing in july. secretary yellen highlighted san francisco in its chinatown district as an example of ties between the two countries, and more specifically, the deep economic links between san francisco and china. the meetings between yellen and the president come at a time of more intense diplomacy between china and the u.s. >> i look forward to discussing our collaboration on global challenges from climate change to debt distress, in low-income countries, and emerging markets. as the world's two largest economies, we have an obligation to lead on these and other issues. >> this morning apec multi-stakeholder forum or amf will take place at the

santa clara county sheriff's office releasing stock images of what the car looks like. it's a black toyota forerunner with a tire mounted on the back. it may also have front passenger side damage. the student suffered minor injuries, he believes he may have been targeted because he was wearing a shirt with arabic writing on it. anyone with a possible lead should contact the sheriff's office. new developments in oakland where leaders and dedicated a's fans are taking another swing to hopefully hit a home run with major league owners, almost certain to approve that move to las vegas. >> this includes a gift box, with a letter inside from oakland's mayor. "today in the bay's" kris sanchez here now, do we know what that letter says? >> it's from the mayor, it's a postcard, but there are other items meant to persuade at least 15 of the 30 major league team owners to vote against the a's relocation to las vegas. the mayor unboxed the boxes that were custom-made for each of the

mlb owners, 16 of them, 15 of them. aside from the postcard letter detailing the reasons why the a's should stay in oakland, there's a copy of a ten-minute video created by the summer of sell group, along with a t-shirt, hat and baseball card. each customized with the likeness of each owner. the boxes were made by the oakland fan group, the 68s, the owners of oakland's last dive bar who says it's not over until it's over even if a sports business consultant tells us the effort is really a joke. >> you're sending a gift box to the owners a week before they're making a multi-billion dollar decision. not just on the oakland a's, but on their franchises and their net asset appreciation, and you've got some stuff in it? what should have been in that box are very actionable legal and legislative opportunities that oakland has never utilized. >> i don't think it's too late.

we're going to just keep doing it until shovels in the ground in vegas, we're going to keep doing it. >> mlb owners meet next week starting on tuesday, many consider the vote to move the a's pretty much a done deal. the financing, however, not a done deal, though the a's reached a tentative agreement for that stadium in las vegas back in may. since then many fans have been calling on the a's owner john fibber to sell the team, to fill the stadium with people with shirts, and chanting sell the team. the team owners will take up that vote wednesday or thursday. that's when we expect to know. but, i mean, that's pretty frank talk. >> when he said it like that, you're going to send a box with stuff -- you're kind of like, oh, yeah. >> i mean, it's cute but it's like your mortgage company saending you a box of cookies, show me the interest rate. >> you've got to have numbers.

happening in oakland at the zoo and we're going to see those temperatures tonight at 5:00 at 60 degrees, and then in the upper 50s as we continue through the event later on tonight. tomorrow, we've got the warriors at the chase center, in the low 60s to start. and then it's going to stay mostly clear with a light wind as you're heading into the chase center. and this weekend, veterans day, a lot of our veterans will -- a lot of events around the weekend will be centered around veterans, and free admission into muir woods, our temperatures in the mid-60s, great weekend for a hike, spending more time outside, and enjoying the nice and mild weather. a look at palisades tahoe, where it will hit the low 50s for today, but our overnight temperatures are down to 22 degrees, enough cold air to make some snow there. we're going to see those high temperatures, though, reach into the mid-50s. we'll talk about an incoming storm for the bay area, coming up, and mike, you were looking

not union or auto makers. other news, west virginia senator joe manchin says he will not run for reelection. he is a democrat in a very red state, that means his replacement will almost certainly be a republican, changing the balance of the senate slightly. democrats worry manchin might make a run for president as independent which would siphon votes away from biden. no new solution for government funding, the government has a week until a continuing resolution runs out. johnson's not been able to come up with a deal that works for everybody in his party, and it's not just keeping government open. there were two bills written by republicans that had to be pulled from the floor thursday because they couldn't get enough votes. a transportation bill and a financial services bill. these are more or less routine things. johnson had promised lawmakers will be given 72 hours to

examine any funding bill. so if money runs out on friday, we're here, if money runs out on friday of next week, lawmakers don't come back until monday, laura, it's going to be tight. >> all right, thank you very much, scott. 5:49 right now, a new campaign is offering new hope to end drug and alcohol addiction. the national council of well-being finds substance abuse affects one-fourth of all americans in various forms and because blacks and latinos are less likely to receive care for substance abuse, those groups are experiencing an uptick in overdoses. the new ad council campaign is called start with hope and it focuses on the message of recovery that is possible. council leaders say it's also meant to remove the stigma communities face when seeking help. >> it shows with substance use and chaotic substance use are really prevalent in our society, and many more people are impacted than they realize.

>> a lot of fun stuff there. >> you've got the parade in san jose, and then also in petaluma we've got some veterans day events going on tomorrow as well. i want to show you that forecast for the parade in petaluma and parts of the north bay. we're going to have a beautiful day, i don't know if it gets any better than this, it's going to be so comfortable with our highs in the upper 60s, nice and sunny, and then going into the rest of the day just enjoying time out and about, we're going to see those temperatures cooling down, right around sunset to the low 60s, and then dropping down to the low 50s. so, today we're seeing a mix of sun and clouds, our temperature is headed for the 60s and 70s once again. and we'll see some of the same temperatures this weekend as we stay dry, and also continue with the mostly sunny sky. we are checking for rain for next week, tracking that as well as sierra snow, with our mild weather now, it's the disciple to prepare, make sure that you're spending a little time out there on the patio, maybe covering things up and getting them ready for more rain and possibly wind. but it's looking very

comfortable for our afternoon, with concord headed for 71 degrees. upper 60s for oakland and in hayward, and we're seeing upper 60s in san mateo today, and san francisco, 68 degrees downtown and the marina district in the low 60s. we're going to see some upper 60s for highs in santa rosa, sonoma, reaching 69 degrees. we are seeing a little bit of light rain in the north bay this morning, most of us will miss out on that and eventually we're headed back to sunshine. and then it's a nice weekend, but we've seen models going back and forth placing where this storm system will be. will it be offshore? or right over the bay area? all of that affects the timing and how much rain we're going to see. we do know we are expecting some rain starting next tuesday, possibly could continue through saturday, it looks really wet but once again the timing and the exact totals are still to be determined. and we're going to see anywhere from rainfall totals from half
