12:00 pm
hi, everyone. i'm zinhle essamuah. kate snow is off today. "nbc news daily" starts right now. today, thursday, november 16th, 2023. breaking news. another hostage abducted by hamas is found dead. israel's military revealing her
12:01 pm
body was discovered deep inside the gaza strip, what we're learning about the victim. also breaking, guilty. a verdict is reached for the man who attacked speaker pelosi's husband with a hammer. what's next for him. nbc news exclusive. . video that shows alec baldwin handling and firing a prop gun. >> if i'm going to shoot right, mind going on the other side of the camera? i don't want to shoot. the good news bears, just days after they left the national zoo, why pandas may be returning to the united states after all. thanks so much for being with us. breaking news from the israel/hamas war. it's found the body of a hostage near the al shifa hospital in gaza. sraeli forces have been inside that hospital for second straight day.
12:02 pm
israel claims it found weapons hidden in the hospital, nbc news cannot independently verify that information. it all comes as the united nations agency warning that sewage is flowing through and the world food programme that supplies are pretty nonexistent in the area. erin mclaughlin is in tel aviv for us. >> reporter: zinhle, israeli military announcing they recovered a 64-year-old israeli hostage, they say they found her body in a building near the al shifa hospital complex alongside weapons, rpgs as well as kalashnikovs, they have notified her family of her death after forensics made a positive eye dent my case. we don't know her cause of death.
12:03 pm
weiss kidnapped on october 7th when hamas stormed the kibbutz. they killed her husband, four of her children were also on the kibbutz that day, she's survived by all five of her children. incredibly sad news for the family, this as the israeli military operation at the al shifa complex continues. according to the israeli military tonight they're alleging they have discovered a tunnel shaft not far from the tunnel complex and vehicle fill of weapons, we have been unable to verify that account and unable to reach doctors inside the hospital given a near total blackout that's under way now in the gaza strip limiting our communication. >> that blackout, we've been hearing a lot about fuel shortages in gaza leading to new humanitarian issues today. what have you learned?
12:04 pm
>> reporter: yeah, that's right. according to leading telecommunications provider in gaza, that blackout is due to fuel shortage, they've run out of fuel to run their backup generators and we're also hearing the fuel shortage impacting the water supply inside southern gaza, according to w.h.o., 70% of palestinians in southern gaza don't have access to clean water. also impacting the sewage system according to the w.h.o., raw sewage has been running in streets of rafah because the sewage pumps have run out of fuel. israeli military has severely restricted the fuel supply to gaza strip saying if they allowed for fuel to be delivered that hamas would exploit that to fuel their own operations. >> tonight nbc news is investigating the alarming rise of anti-semitic incidents.

12:06 pm
believed that david depape went to pelosi home that night and did take substantial steps to attempt to kidnap then-speaker nancy pelosi and attacking paul because of her duties in congress. the pelosi statement, demonstrated courage on the night of the attack a year ago and in the courtroom this week. thankfully powell pelosi continues to make progress in his recovery. he talked about how this attack has caused him headaches. he said it's getting better. >> we also heard from david depape and he continued to spew his conspiracy theories about certain leaders in this country and talked about that's the reason why he went to the pelosi home, because he wanted to lure someone else and use nancy pelosi to do that but the jury

point the gun in someone's direction. >> danny, some legal analysis, to chloe's point the grand jury's going to convene soon, how might this footage impact their decisions, do you think it's favorable for baldwin? >> i do. to me the video show that alec baldwin was on an old west movie set shooting firearms. that's what you do on an old west state. if the state thinks they're going to use this as evidence of him shooting guns on the set, that's to be expected about gunslingers in the old west. here's the thing, not so much what my eyes see, ultimately this case is prosecuted, it's going to be what expert witnesses say, expert witnesses from both sides will look at that video and if there's some standard of care that's deviated
