vallejo and fairfield, and we will continue with the warning where it is going to be frosty and rain chances in that seven-day forecast coming up. >> thanks. >> and there are major developments today coming out of the middle east, and this is after 24 israeli hostages were freed by hamas yesterday, and this video of the women and children on the jeeps on the way to freedom after 49 agonizing days in captivity, and we have learned that those released including 24 women and children and 13 from thailand, and including those who are expected 13 israeli hostages to be released today. and this is with a pause of the fighting to hold, and at least 50 hostages are to be freed from

39 palestinian prisoners, 24 women and the rest teenagers. tonight, hundreds of aid trucks have rolled into gaza. >> and today, hundreds of protesters flooded the westfield valley fair shopping mall. the group called shut it down for palestine protested with one of many across the area and in bay area, and in the bay area the indigenous leaders in emeryville called for a cease-fire, and sky ranger was headed over for a massive group, and they gathered at the shell mound which is a sacred burial ground, and they gathered at another sacred site where they

wanted to show their support in gaza. we continue to monitor the situatio air and online, and there are more hostages and more than 200 that israel says need to be rescued and we will continue to follow on air and online, and now to a developing story. a minneapolis police officer who was convicted of murdering george floyd is in serious condition after he was stabbed in a federal institution in tucson, yesterday afternoon. the federal officials say that a life-saving measure was performed before he was rushed to the hospital. he has been at that facility since last august. he is serving a 22-year sentence, and last week, the supreme court rejected the appeal of his murder sentence. last august first responders

were called to san jose where they found an 18-month-old who died from an apparent fentanyl overdose. and now we have learned that officers arrested that mother on wednesday. it was misfortune for two families in concord this holiday weekend when flames damaged the homes, and we are told that the fire started after the fire started. and now, there is a popular shopping area, and it comes after a record shopping day.

the car was reported stolen by alameda, and so many people are headed home after headed home from thanksgiving, and aaa says it ishe busiest day to avel. they say to hit the road before 11:00 a.m., and avoid the road betwee 00 to 5:00 p.m., and the busy spot is between monterey and san francisco, and aaa predicting it cld take up to three hours between highway 1 and 71 with peak congestion around 7:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. around san francisco, and sfo, with those flying home between now and monday, those are expected to be the busiest days between now and the rest of the holiday. tsa caught a man trying to

get a knife through tsa by hiding it in a loaf of bread which happened thanksgiving day. the tsa called it a perfect example of how people tried to hide things, and that person is facing a fine of trying to get it through security. and here in the bay area, people were seen camping out in dublin with deals with $250 off of a mac book air. they said it was a novel experience and he was not there for the savings, but there to be with friends. and in the moscone center, there is fan expo san francisco, and the three-day event kicked off with mark hamill of "star wars" fame. and there is going to be panels

and meet and greets and photo-ops. it will include ewan mcgregor and william shatner. this is the second time that the expo has been in san francisco. and of course, the christmas countdown has begun. christmas is a month from today, and live look at where the park officially kicked off today. we go to athena jones who takes us there. >> reporter: believe it or not, it is the christmas in the park, and the tradition gets bigger. you can see the ferris wheel behind me, and the food across the street. it is the big 65-foot christmas tree. we talked to a lot of families here who say they look forward to the event every year. the christmas countdown has begun. seeing all of the trees and everything decorated is giving

me like making it more excited. >> it is like a good time. there is a lot of food here. and it is very fun. >> reporter: christmas in the park is officially lighting updown san jose. the two-acre display is filled with food, rides and even the grinch. the event is bringing families from los angeles to their hometown to celebrate. >> it is nice to come up here to be part of home when i live far away. >> reporter: the volunteer, and contributions and donations create the $2 million winter wonderland every year. >> we estimate that in the 40 days that we are open, we will have more than 700,000 people. that makes us the biggest event in san jose. we have more people here than fill levi's stadium. >> 522 trees spread throughout the park are decorated by the community, and including the moreno family in honor of those

heaters. >> and parts of the north bay are under the frost advisory, and so if you have plans to stick around napa and show your family around, we will be chilly through the morning hours, and by midday, we will feel the sunshine as the temperatures only top off in the low 60s. the rest of the bay area, we will stay in the range of the low to mid-60s, and oakland, and livermore we struggle to ease into it. we are going to continue with the very cold weather for the next couple of mornings, and make sure that you are bundling up to take care of the sensitive plants and the newborns and the elderly, because they are most sensitive to it. and it is still very cold in parts of the north bay and in the 30s and the 40 his and the north bay is very immediate and still very cold, and as we go

into the monday, it is going to be an extension of the frost advisory, and the freeze warning will be continuing into the service for the inland valleys, and 39 in livermore and downtown san jose, and by tuesday, not quite as cold, and i will tell you why, because we will get some warm moisture coming into the picture, and then off to the pacific. a couple of things with the system, the models are disagreeing, and some say it is coming off of the ocean, and some say it is off by the middle of the week, and then by 7:00 a.m., many people are back to work, and we need to keep an eye on the roadways, and the other model is keeping it off shore, and we will keep on watching this as the long range estimates show a little bit of rain mainly to the coastal communities with half an inch of rain or less in the blues for san jose. an antive seven-day forecast as we wrap up the holiday work

welcome back. this morning we are revisiting a local woman who is a former addict and heart transplant recipient and making most of her second chance at life. but two years ago there was evidence that the new heart was rejected and she didn't know how much time she had left, but she was determined to fill that life with doing good. garvin thomas has more with "bay area proud." >> back here, we have pajama items. >> reporter: this is deborah running her nonprofit. >> this is coats. >> reporter: and it is not to doing good part that has changed. >> new jackets and shoes. >> reporter: that leaves debra's heart and the part where they were able to fix it. >> there are three degrees of

heart failure, mild, moderate and severe. i was severe, and now i'm mild. >> and what it boils down to is more time on earth says debra. or as she puts it. >> i have more time for service and more hearts for humanity. >> reporter: hearts for humanity is the nonprofit she formed this year making official what she has been doing for a number of years. she collects and distributes hygiene kits for those on the street. >> over here. >> reporter: but now she has a team of volunteer cooks who prepares a group of people who prepare and donate food, and she feels like she is just getting started. >> all i know is that my donor is saying my work is at right

through the first half of the week and the middle part of the week that comes up in ten minutes. >> and now, the pause in fighting between israel and hamas is continuing into the second day where it is 5:30 p.m. right now. 28 israeli hostages were set free yesterday, and this video of women and children on the way to freedom after 49 agonizing days in captivity. a second group of hostages is set to be released by the end of the day today, and nbc news has learned that 13 of them are set to be israeli hostages. by this end of this four-day truce, 150 palestinian prisoners from israel are set to be released and at least 50 hostages from gaza. in the meantime, large crowds gathered overnight to greet their palestinian prisoners released from israeli jails, and to celebrate the aid now finally

flowing into gaza. one of the countries play a key role in this is qatar. and nbc has exclusive access into the qatar negotiating rooms, and has news of when they could be freed. >> reporter: the troops are going to be negotiated as to when it could be at the end of the day. and there is hopes that a number of days could be freed, soon. >> and now, hopeful that the upcoming days that the release of all citizens of the category, and the administration has been keen to see the american hostages released, including a of course, a little girl who is 4 today. >> of course, it matters to get

all of the citizens out today. >> reporter: he says that the expectations may be exceeded. >> we were expecting 10 people, but we were surprised that the number had been up to 24 which is a positive development. >> reporter: the hostage taking is on the rise around the world, and qatar is playing a larger role. >> what is surprising is that there are groups around the world who think they are watching this and they should take hostages as well. >> reporter: but the captives are facing a long and difficult road ahead. >> anyone who assumes or hopes that life is ever going to go back to where it was before is in for a rude awakening. >> reporter: this is the bureau post in washington convicted by iran of espionage, and he spent 544 days in captivitien for a

time in solitary confinement. getting used to freedom took some time to get used to. >> it took some time to get used to having my freedom taken from me. >> those kids will have something difficult, and not impossible, but difficult to put in any context. >> reporter: every safe guideline are returning to these kits. they say the first days and week can be difficult. over time if they have support, they can recover and get to some sort of steady state again. >> reporter: the idf is preparing to get the returned hostages with rooms of medical kits, and food is critical with the hostages including little ones will be suffering from some level of malnutrition.
