warranting a renulewal of the truce. let's go to megan fitzgerald what do we know about the extension of the cease-fire? had. >> re >> reporter: yeah, it was set to expire just before midnight eastern time but a deal was reached to extend the cease-fire at least for another day. we understand that same rules apply. we expecting to see the release of 30 palestinian prisoners in exchange for ten israelis that are being held hostage by hamas. now all this happening just before secretary of state antony blinken landing in the region there. he is now on his third trip to israel he's there he's expected to push for an extension of this cease-fire and the release of all of those israeli hostages that are being held by hamas. now, to give you some context about what we are seeing from

the release of these palestinian prisoners, we do know that a prominent palestinian activist was released this woman rose to prominence at 16 years old when she slapped an israeli soldier after there was a raid conducted on her village in the occupied west bank. lately, within the last eight weeks now, she was one of hundreds of palestinians that were arrested and obviously, we are seeing some of those individuals being released but look, tensions are rising in the region early this morning we know at least three people were killed nearly a dozen people injured. after two gun men opened fire at a bus stop in jerusalem. we know that those shooters were neutralized by israeli soldiers as well as an armed civilian in the area but even though the cease-fire continues to hold, this is just another example of how tensions in israel and in that region continue to rise guys. >> >> anwe'll be watching if
