he said camzyos works by targeting what's causing my obstructive hcm. so he prescribed it and i'm really glad he did. camzyos is used to treat adults with symptomatic obstructive hcm. camzyos may improve your symptoms and your ability to be active. camzyos may cause serious side effects, including heart failure that can lead to death. a risk that's increased if you develop a serious infection or irregular heartbeat or when taking certain other medicines. so do not stop, start or change medicines or the dose without telling your healthcare provider. you must have echocardiograms before and during treatment. seek help if you experience new or worsening symptoms of heart failure. because of this risk, camzyos is only available through a restricted program. before taking camzyos, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including current or planned pregnancy. today with camzyos, i don't lose my breath as often. my symptoms have improved, helping me go from expecting less to experiencing more. my name is mike. and this is my camzyos moment. call your cardiologist today

good friday morning at 5:45. san francisco, you're waking up to cloudy skies, patchy fog around the city. visibility is great right here over the golden gate bridge. we're going to keep those skies overcast today. temperatures only in the low 60s. we'll bump them up and actually feel kind of springtime as we get through sunday. we'll talk about that coming up. this is 101 in palo alto, and over the last three or four minutes on the northbound side, really showing a lot more taillights. no brake taps and things have

calmed down now. it indicates more traffic heading up the peninsula and into the city. we'll see where the build is in the east bay where we typically see more slowing. pg&e is being slapped with a new fine for california's second largest wildfire. the dixie fire happened in 2021, destroying more than 500 homes. now, cpuc regulators yesterday approved a $45 million settlement. investigators learned the fire started after a tree fell into a pg&e power line, and eventually scorched 1 million acres. most of that settlement is expected to go toward digitizing pg&e's records. 5:47. the white house is celebrating new economic data showing fears of a recession were wrong. >> scott mcgrew, the american economy grew more than expected, surprising even biden's own

economists. >> we'll talk to one in just a second. good morning to you. there are two major issues republicans plan to hit biden with in the upcoming election t economy and the border. president biden in wisconsin wednesday under a decaying bridge that will be rebuilt with funds from the bipartisan inflation reduction act. he announced $5 billion in funds to repair infrastructure and celebrated recent reports on bigger than expected jobs numbers, and, of course, yesterday's surprising numbers on gdp. president biden points to bidenomics, a term that had started as an insult from republicans, but has turned into one of his favorite words on stump speeches. and other members at the white house clearly spiking the ball in the end zone after a long list of good economic news. >> so we have inflation levels low, we have strong gdp growth, unemployment levels are low, we've had the longest stretch of
5:49 am
unemployment below 4% in about 50 years. labor market participation is above what it was before the pandemic. so overall there's a lot of people who have jobs making more money than before, and all the news looks very, very good. >> and a stock market record as well. this takes away one of the arrows from the republicans' quiver. the other, the situation at the border. numbers have gotten better lately, but this is legit my a concern for many americans. congress says it is close to a deal that would strengthen security at the border and restrict the number of people allowed to stay in america while they await court decisions on asylum. these are things democrats tend to oppose, but they're agreeing to them because they want congress to spend more money on ukraine. it is the best deal republicans have had in years. they may be in the minority in the senate, but they've gotten democrats to make a deal. but nbc news has talked to lawmakers behind closed doors
5:50 am
who say they're getting huge pressure not to make a deal and it's coming from donald trump. don't improve border security now if this can be a campaign issue in the fall. republican leader mitch mcconnell was very frank with fellow lawmakers, according to people close to the conversation, saying there was great pressure from trump to kill the deal. fellow republican mitt romney very public about it, telling reporters, quote, the border is a very important issue for donald trump, and the fact that he would communicate he doesn't want us to solve the border problem because he wants to blame biden for it is really appalling. the border and immigration is a problem that congress rarely addresses. there hasn't been meaningful immigration reform since 1986. what they're talking about or were talking about in washington, not as big as what happened in '86, but it was a move forward, marcus, on better securing the border. >> good to know. thank you so much, scott.
