that's when the opening ceremony takes place in paris for the 2024 summer olympic games. we're excited. we hope you are too. and at this point, the athletes, we hope they're excited. they're locked in, though literally and figuratively. the teams are now set following some exciting trials and team usa athletes are now in preparation mode, fine tuning their training for first time olympians. it's going to be 0 to 60 in no time. for those lucky enough to make it back, like former cal swimmer ryan murphy and stanford's katie ledecky, there's a ton to savor. i feel really fortunate that we had an incredible atmosphere at trials that we can learn from and really just kind of take those experiences and hopefully be better in paris. just trying to learn from the trials, meet, get better, and i love when we come together as a team and get to train together and get the best out of each other, and we love it when you win gold. other headliner teams are also getting ready. the latest u.s. dream team plays its next exhibition game in basketball that is,

wants to focus on, you know, a better future and climate wherever the team goes. tell me a little bit about that and the trophy that we're actually giving out this afternoon. yeah, sure. so these boats are powered by nature, and the ocean is our race track. so we feel like we have a responsibility to the environment. our athletes see the effects of climate change, you know, more than most athletes around the world because they see it close up and so what we decided to do is create a podium for the planet where all the teams compete for sustainability initiatives throughout the season. the points are tied up and the winner gets a trophy. it's going to be presented tonight, which we're super excited about. oh my gosh, i'm excited about it too. thank you so much. and here we are at pier 80. this is the usa sailgp team boat that you are looking at. there is a lot of moving parts already happening this morning. the team is actually going to get to participate in some events with the san francisco giants later on, at oracle, as well. the tickets are available online. you stand up next to these boats

and it's really incredible. the technology that goes into it. so definitely a weekend to come out to san francisco at the marina green, to see the grand final this weekend. temperatures will be in the upper 60s. but of course, bring a jacket. you're right. by the water. it could get breezy, but overall it's just amazing. so i hope everybody gets a chance to come out and see them. and like you said, even if you're not coming to the event, you're driving around the golden gate bridge, the bay bridge, the richmond san rafael bridge. that's what's going on on the water. if you see these amazing boats. but for now, live in san francisco. cinthia pimentel. today in the bay with cynthia. the big question is, have you been practicing with the simulator? because, you know, team today in the bay, we're trying to win. oh that's right. team today in the bay we've got $2 million. you know the grand prize for a nice little brunch for the office. the simulator is on the other side of the hangar here. but yes, we all be cruising. everybody into a winning weekend. that's what i'm talking about. i'm counting on you. oh,

6:53 am
now tomorrow those temperatures come down about ten degrees in some spots. so it's going to be a little bit better, but may feel humid. so it may still feel like it's really hot to you. and then looking at sunday's high temperatures, oakland 77 and still in the low to mid 90s for parts of the south county and inland areas. we're also going to see more clouds coming in with a surge of some leftover tropical moisture. and into the next couple of days, we could see partly cloudy skies and feel more humidity. even though the temperatures will be coming down several degrees. looking ahead in a spotlight, gilroy, where we are getting ready for some much better weather going into the next few days. looking out ten days i don't see any more extreme heat coming our way. so that's the good news here. we can just make it past today. it's going to be great going into the weekend as well as much of next week. san francisco is also going to bring those temperatures down. we're in the upper 70s today with upper 60s from sunday into much of next
