6:02 am
go into the afternoon we do have some upper 70s. we'll reach a high there of 84 degrees and up to 80 in san jose, san martin still pretty hot, reaching 90 degrees and 93 in fairfield. we will get a look ahead to the weekend forecast and what else is going on. and mike, you were tracking some early slowing in san jose. yeah it was a little bit early for a friday i guess it was. it was right on time for the early slowing. let me clarify. but it was more than we'd seen on most fridays over the summertime. so i was watching for a building of the volume right now, we still see the tail end of that right around oakland road, but it's going to ease off. we'll watch over the next hour to see how much of a volume build there is, to see the pattern for the south bay. there is a crash in cupertino not presenting a problem for highway 85. keep my eyes on the reports there. northbound 880. we do have a crash as well. coming up just past decoto, but it's not a major problem in through newark. looks like a smooth drive. the tri-valley a nice flow of traffic and getting over toward the bay bridge. everything seems

can afford to because of the work of the kyle j. taylor foundation, which was created in honor of a former lee soccer player who died of sca in 2018. the foundation, created by his mom. his heart was muscle, was enlarged and that can be seen on a ekg. so absolutely, this could have identified it for him. sudden cardiac arrest is the number one killer of student athletes, and it's estimated that 1 in 3 young people has an undetected heart condition. as many as 2300 kids and teens suffer sca per year. nationwide, only 10% survive. this week will hit 7000 kids that we have screened since 2019, and we've identified about 65 with some heart related issues, some minor issues, some quite major issues. so it definitely is in in the back of your mind for sure. maybe even the front of your mind that, you know, this could happen at any time, at any place, to any kid in the los gatos saratoga school district. the statistics became all too real when a varsity football

morning, taking a live look out in walnut creek. the sunrise. just setting a beautiful picture for us on this friday. meteorologist kari hall, of course, has a look at what we can expect from those temperatures out there. looking pretty good, kari. yeah looks great again today. and the weather you had yesterday afternoon repeats today. so we're getting started in foster city with a look at the morning. and it's in the upper 50s and all clear with the calm wind. and we will gradually see those temperatures going up a couple of degrees each hour, eventually making it into the 70s for today with the wind picking up. and we may see some of those gusts at about 20 to 25mph. highs range from 64 in half moon bay to 84 in novato, 91 in clear lake and 93 in fairfield and san jose. it's still pretty comfortable, with a high of 80, but definitely hotter. as you drive down to the south county, you'll feel those temperatures rising, and you'll definitely have that experience as you're moving around the bay area today with a wide range in those temperatures. so take a look at our weekend forecast coming up.

still in the low 90s for concord and fairfield. vacaville reaching 92 degrees, and it will still be in the upper seconds for oakland to 80 degrees, 71 for san francisco and 89 in santa rosa. now tomorrow will feel a cool down. there will be more clouds coming in. it's going to be breezy and it's going to be slow to clear. and i think for some of the coastal areas, you'll start out the day with some mist and drizzle as a system drops down and it brings in that cool down that we'll see even in the inland valleys. and then by sunday, the sunshine returns. but we are going to see those temperatures only coming up a degree or two. so here's a look at the system dropping in that's going to bring in the cooler changes that we'll see. if you'll be traveling farther north. you may encounter some raindrops. and we're going to see that early tomorrow. and then lifting back north into the pacific northwest with that low coming in. but take a look at the changes in antioch and our high temperatures over the next several days. we're going from a

a different picture from what we had yesterday at this time when we were waking up and heading out the door. so right now it's cool. the temperature is at 55 degrees and you do need a jacket stepping out. but later today we're going to see those temperatures starting to warm up here. along the coast. we're staying in the 60s for the most part at 8:00, going from 57 degrees to seeing those temperatures in the mid 60s throughout much of today. and at times we are going to see some gusty winds picking up lots of sunshine. and then looking ahead, there will be more clouds and drizzle, mainly in tomorrow's forecast. so there will be some changes for part of the weekend. but then we're also looking around the rest of the bay area with our high temperatures headed for the low 90s, we will still have some of those hotter inland highs in parts of the east bay. we're going to see temperatures up to 92. in concord, but a lot of 80s here for the tri valley martinez today back up to 89 degrees. so these temperatures are what you saw yesterday. what we've seen

throughout much of the week, up to 77 in fremont. but in palo alto, the high temperature today will reach 80 degrees. now the cooler air comes in tomorrow. this is when we will start out the day with clouds. and there may not be much clearing with a breezy wind in some spots will have some drizzle, especially in the morning, so a storm system is going to be moving very close by and bring our temperatures below what's actually normal for this time of year. the sunshine returns on sunday, but we're still keeping those nice and slightly cooler temperatures where even in the inland valleys, you're going to feel the change over the next few days. and we're seeing this low coming in with that rain all along the coast. and if you will be traveling farther north, you'll encounter some downright rain showers that we'll see up around eureka and farther to the north. while in the bay area, it's going to be cloudy and cooler and then looking at some drizzle at times. and then in the rest of the forecast, if you're thinking, okay, school is back in session, we have football. is it going to feel

like fall? no, not yet. it's still going to feel like summer. we're still going to see some 90s for the middle of next week. and our temperatures will remain quite hot inland. while san francisco only comes up slightly from 60s to lower 70s. mike are we looking for the light for the commute? yeah we are feeling like a friday, although we did see a little earlier traffic flow moore break tapper. but things have kind of calmed down. 101 and 87 showing your typical friday right now just starting to build once again through silicon valley. watch late morning in through early evening and things will get much more crowded as far as the volume around the bay as its continued to build. so far, no major issues, smaller incidents. we have more slowing through the tri-valley and over here. remember the peninsula has the express lane working work going on between palo alto and san mateo this weekend. back to you. thank you mike. it is 652. happening now. a class action lawsuit sparking concern about a massive amount of social security numbers and other personal information, which was hacked. the information was taken from the background check

end of an era, for sure. all right, well, let's talk about this forecast for us today. nice time to get out and just enjoy it. yeah it's been pretty nice. and that continues as we go into today and the next few days. but some of our inland valleys have been hot and that continues. there will be a slight dip in temperatures tomorrow with more clouds, and we'll be watching the coastal areas for some drizzle, at least in the morning. and throughout the day we'll see a lot of clouds and highs only in the upper 60s, and a slight warm up for san francisco as well, with low 70s for the middle of next week. and we'll take a look at this map. overall, we're looking at a pretty similar pattern that we see on friday's earlier issues through san pablo and richmond cleared up. so now there's more traffic flowing in through berkeley approaching the bay bridge. but the bay bridge shows now over the last 20 minutes, we continue to get a lighter load here. this is a friday light. it's not completely absent for your commute, but it is very light. the note for this weekend palo alto through san mateo, 101 will have the express lane work going on like they did last week, so there will be crews in
