flex alert! flex alert! a power outage is looming. that's just alert, he's always getting worked up about something. flex alerts notify us of preventable power outages. that way we always know when to help stop one. ok flex, just drop some knowledge on me again. oh, ok i will - i'll turn our thermostat to 78... i'll unplug the blender. the hair dryer. - my blankie? - yep! - let's talk about it! - nope. ooo, we can save the laundry til' the morning! oh, yes please! oh! little things like this help save our power and help save us from outages. with flex alerts, the power is ours. nominee kamala harris is set to take center stage at the democratic national convention. a look at her growing momentum

ahead of chicago and the protests already happening there. plus, expecting a bumpy first day of school in san francisco. we sit down with the superintendent about the growing financial crisis and the chance of possible school closures. and tracking hurricane ernesto. torrential rain now moving into parts of the east coast. a first look this morning at the overnight damage. this is today in the bay here we go monday morning. thanks for starting your workweek with us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm kris sanchez. marcus and kari are both off this morning, so we want to start with that forecast, by the way. i didn't realize it sounded so bad until i heard you guys sounding so good. no worries. it's really great having you over here. it's not contagious. it's not contagious. so we're going to start with our look at our forecast. and it was we've been sleeping with the windows closed. interesting weekend. yeah. but we're going to shake off those sunday scaries kris this morning. and look at our screen right there. a range of temperatures. chilly start up in the north bay 49 degrees. we get
5:02 am
some 50s and we get some low 60s down here in the south bay. there are a few patchy clouds rolling about, but nothing too bad in the way of our visibility this morning as we take a look. dazzling over downtown san jose. we're going to cool things off just a little bit into before the sunrise hours dip those temperatures a bit, but then go into a mild mid morning and lunchtime hour with slightly warmer temperatures throughout and a very toasty tuesday in store. i'll have a look at the full microclimate forecast and mike, we are taking a look from our beautiful emeryville camera. yes, you have dazzling san jose. look at this dazzling view. yeah, the city is fine, the lights are nice, but i'm looking at these lights that's dazzling the drive at speed across the bay bridge. both directions are moving just fine. light. and early in the morning commute here there was a crash. 101 at duboce street. didn't get a lot of detail. it looks like it must have just cleared from our report. so that's great news. early drives coming through the north bay? no problem. down through contra costa county, 680 moves at speed through the
5:03 am
dublin interchange and everything south of there. oh, there's a new crash. looks like it's on surface streets, but we'll check out what's going on in fremont and newark coming up. okay, perfect. we'll check back with you then. well, new overnight. both directions of capital expressway have just reopened in san jose. this was following a deadly accident. it all happened before 11:00 last night near snell avenue. one woman died after being struck by a car. video appears to show some of her personal belongings scattered across the intersection. police say the driver remained at the scene. so far, they are not commenting on the investigation within the last 15 minutes, san jose police had mentioned to us that all lanes have now reopened. we are moving the bay area forward with a new school year, and some districts are now grappling with a serious cash shortage in san francisco. today, nearly 50,000 students will head back to school, and by this time next month, some of them may be learning that their schools will be closing today in the bay's ginger conejero saab live in san francisco. and ginger, this is a very unnerving concern for
5:04 am
families. i mean, chris, you know this firsthand. it is an important day for families to go back to school. and the idea of your school possibly not being open, you know, next year is very unnerving. sf usd heads back to school today, but it is no secret that about a month from now, there will be a list of school closures and mergers. the school will present its new school portfolio, and that's just really about a month away there. currently, there are over 110 schools, around 110 schools within sfusd, 13 early education schools, 72 elementary schools, 13 middle schools and 14 high schools. now, how many schools will be closed, realigned or co-located? that all remains a mystery at this point. i sat down with the superintendent of sfusd, doctor matt wayne, to talk about what the vision is for sfusd and why there are so little answers so far. we need to make sure we're going through
5:05 am
this process with care and transparency, and we know people are hungry for information, but we need to make sure we're sharing accurate information that's based on what is going to be our real plan for the future of sfusd. now, families have expressed concerns and made their cases for why their schools should not be among those closed or changed. the district says they welcome the feedback, but they need to make tough decisions now for a more stable tomorrow. so i'm a parent myself, and of course, any time your child is faced with a potential change, you're concerned. but i, you know, first want to assure parents that we're going to handle this with care and transparency so that their student gets what they need through this process. but also it's about letting families understand this is not just about their child's experience in first grade. this is really about making sure that when as a district, we can serve them well. in fifth grade and eighth grade through high school and setting ourselves up for long term success. now, superintendent wayne says the
5:06 am
months leading up to today have been filled with community engagement and conversations to understand what sfusd families value most. and this is his takeaway when we started this process, we put equity at the forefront, saying we want to use that as a criteria when making decisions. and so our community has said very clearly that educational equity needs to be considered, that we do not want to disproportionately impact any one community. now, speaking of educational equity, that is very important for united educators of san francisco. ucsf that is a teachers union. they will host families at their first day back of school at malcolm x academy. that's in the bayview hunters point neighborhood here in san francisco. they're doing so to make a point that educational equity is very important to that community. that happens at eight. the superintendent will also make his rounds today to different sfusd campuses to show the progress that passed bond measures have made within the
5:07 am
district. and we'll continue to follow this throughout the morning and throughout the day at nbcbayarea.com. chris, back to you. thank you. ginger. you know, we know so many communities around the bay area are dealing with that issue of declining enrollment and are having this similar difficult conversations. thank you. two decision 2024. now, in the democratic national convention, kicking off today in chicago, we have a live look at the windy city. that's where this week, kamala harris will formally accept the democratic presidential nomination. protests also appear on the horizon even before the convention starts today in the bay's alice barr has more from the united center. welcome, vice president kamala harris is in chicago as the democratic national convention kicks off tonight. previewing her focus over the weekend in a pennsylvania bus tour. when you know what you stand for, you know what to fight for. the vice president looking to define herself to the american people this week, in the still early

days of her campaign, the candidate change up san marino now, and the protesters against the war in gaza gathering in chicago, drawing comparisons to the windy city's 1968 democratic convention. it's impossible not to make that connection in your head. but northwestern university history professor kevin boyle says while that race was framed by deep divisions over the vietnam war, this is going to be a convention of profound unity, unity inside and de-escalation training outside, preparing chicago police to avoid the violent clashes of 68. when president lyndon johnson stepped aside during the primary season, much earlier than president biden's move that led to vice president harris's unprecedented path to the nomination. do you think there's any credence to the people that are criticizing her for having been selected and not elected? there is no rule that says that

there has to be an open primary process under these circumstances. so they followed their rules inside the party. that's the way it works. as new national polls show harris picking up a narrow lead, former president trump is set to visit four swing states this week, working to counteract any post-convention bump for the democratic ticket in chicago. alice barr, nbc news. our team on the today show continues the convention coverage at 7 a.m. that's following today in the bay and our damian trujillo is also in chicago. catches live coverage tonight and throughout the week right here on nbc bay area. as alice just mentioned, former president trump is gearing up for what may be one of the busiest weeks of his campaign so far. he is planning to continue his major barnstorming effort across several battleground states, and he made his first stop on saturday night in pennsylvania. that's where he heavily criticized democratic nominee kamala harris. but some of those

attacks appear to be more personal than political or based on policy strategy. kamala has one big advantage she's a very beautiful woman. she's a beautiful woman. but i say that i am much better looking than her. i think i'm much better. much better. i'm a better looking person than kamala. trump is expected to make another stop in pennsylvania later this afternoon. developing right now on the east coast, many places dealing with treacherous conditions as the eye of hurricane ernesto churns toward eastern canada this morning, it is once again a category one storm, and it's triggered life threatening rip currents. at least two people drowned in south carolina and in north carolina. emergency crews performed nearly 30 ocean rescues. connecticut, meantime, saw torrential rain and flash flooding, and more than 80

million americans remain at risk for extreme weather, rain, wind and flooding. let's check in with forecaster cinthia pimentel with a look at where inertial air is heading next. yeah we've had some really interesting weather this weekend and into the start of our workweek here. let me show you what's happening. a pretty extensive trough digging in from the great lakes down through the south. so we're dealing with not only showers, but some steamy conditions down there with the humidity up along the east coast. we do see those showers continuing heavy at times. and that pinwheel there is earnest though it is right now, a category one storm still packing some really heavy winds as it kind of tracks into canada there and into the northern atlantic, where it should eventually downgrade and turn just into a low pressure system as it continues to weaken there. so really, the east coast, avoid the beaches if you have any late summer plans to travel there this week, but it should get better as we progress through our workweek here. for us here
5:12 am
in the bay area, we do have some warmer weather on tap. i'll be back with that in a few minutes. but mike, to kick off. for gas prices. that's right. back to work for some. back to school for others. so let's go with that angle right now san francisco big school district. they lead our list at 387 golf on mission street. to kick off that district's school year. and sunnyvale, you'll head to the big box costco post 385 is their price at lawrence station road. not sure about the memberships for the gas, but last i heard you could use it if you got one of those gift cards. west contra costa unified starts, so we'll check san pablo here for the last price. their best is 425 at mobil on san pablo dam road, and you can report your prices at gasbuddy.com. that's where we do all our sharing. sharing the roads just fine. a smooth flow of traffic. we get down to the earlier crash we saw it was just off central, but it looks like it may be completely off the roadway now. surface street was not affecting 880. the on or off ramps in the area that's in newark, the union city newark,

monday to you. great week on the markets last week. one of the best in more than a year. head of the fed jay powell speaks at jackson hole wyoming on friday of this week. shares in big grocery stores largely unchanged. walmart, kroger after kamala harris floated her idea of a federal ban on price gouging, she did that friday in a speech laying out some of her economic plans. there is no federal price gouging law currently. california has one, but it's not clear grocery stores are gouging you if you look at the revenue like walmart brings in and you compare to the profits, there's like a 2 to 3% difference, which we would consider pretty razor thin profits. the problem is not grocery stores, it's the suppliers and harris says she will go after them as well. trump over the weekend once again talked about slapping huge tariffs on goods at stores like walmart. and once again, he got it wrong. remember, if an american buyer like walmart buys
5:18 am
chinese goods. walmart and the customers pay the tariff, americans pay the tariff. here's trump with it backwards. a tariff is a tax on a foreign country. that's the way it is, whether you like it or not. a lot of people like to say, oh, it's a tax on us. no, no, no, it's a tax on a foreign country. it's a tax on a country that's ripping us off and stealing our jobs. and it's a tax that doesn't affect our country. so not to belabor the point, but if china puts a tariff on american wheat, china pays the tariffs. if america puts a tariff on chinese made pickle balls, americans pay the tariff, a california law that would have increased protections for children online, got stuck in the courts friday, with the ninth circuit saying the laws that forced high tech companies to determine if their products were dangerous for kids violated the first amendment. an expert i

talked to reminded us of common sense. while government does have a role in keeping kids safe online, make sure the number one protector in your family is the parent, but it still is going to be important for the parents to be monitoring these accessibility points in making sure that the children realize that the parents are going to be watching out for their health and safety, just as they do in any other instances of their care. i've heard lots of parents say, i don't understand what roblox is. i haven't tried ai. i hear kids are using it in school, but i don't really know. get on it. yeah, you know, because just like you taught them to cross the street by looking both ways, you need to be there with stuff that maybe you don't understand, but you're a grownup figure it out. well, even for roblox, who they're interacting with on some of these games. but most parents, i don't even know what roblox is. oh, i get in there and on it. good. your name is what? probably you want to see my skins, you know. you know.

right? and you should. there you go. i come from tetris. all right. moving to bay area forward in innovation. over the last year, more than 30,000 girls from 120 different countries have been seeking solutions to problems within their own communities through the global technology and ai education nonprofit technovation, teams of girls come up with an ai or mobile app prototype to address issues plaguing our world. that includes things like climate change, hunger, identifying gunfire in their communities. those groups then test their prototypes. they come up with a business plan and get to pitch it to judges. they do all of this with the help of mentors who could potentially impact the trajectory of their lives. you don't need any prior coding background or ai background because you will learn what a an ai model is. how do you train it? what is an ethical data set? how do you deploy an ai prototype to tackle a real world problem? i recently graduated college, studied computer science and also another

engineering field, and i'm now also working at a tech company. so i think tech innovation like that early experience was really pivotal for me. laura are you ready to move on from roblox? oh my gosh, this is great for my kids. my time has passed a little bit, but well, the tech innovation world summit is coming up in october. we hope to cover that. but right now the search is on for mentors. as the tech innovation ceo said, no experience necessary. you can find more information at technovation.org. i love that you know, mentors leading the. that's fantastic. okay. you probably could have participated in the climate change. one of my mentors kari hall on a well-deserved, you know, monday tuesday off. i love her and i love the weather. so let's get to it as we get everybody inspired. first day of school, san francisco. patchy fog there through the city. you're used to it. and then into the afternoon. the sweaters that you send the kids off with will probably be over their shoulder or down at the bottom of the backpack as we see some mild temperatures there. upper 60s, we go and warm

up into the southern peninsula 78 and palo alto, mid 70s for the bay shore, mid 80s for up into the north bay. a slightly warmer trend for concord today, and we continue with some mild weather down here in the south county. by tomorrow we will be feeling a little bit more like summer here as we ramp up those temperatures and actually start to get into some 90s up into fairfield, vacaville, down into the south county, 86 in los gatos, and a slightly warmer day out towards the coast. but that will be it as we kind of deal with the cooling pattern the second half of the week. and notice this, we get a little bit more of that green low pressure will be sitting right on top of the bay area. the chances of rain are there, but the models have to agree on how much and who will get some. it right now it's looking like it will stay more so up into parts of the north bay, not so much down into parts of the south bay. so watch how the 7-day forecast plays out. a warm start to the week, dropping quickly through the second half and feeling breezy. so we're going to get two seasons in one week. summer to

start, fall to kind of end it. and then a warming pattern after that into the weekend. san francisco will notice gradual changes there in the temperatures overall. not too bad. happy first week of school mike. you're checking the drive out of richmond this morning. we'll look over here in richmond. by the way, one of those schools in the west, contra costa school district here starting today. right now, we're just starting with a little bit of a build. no major surprises coming in toward the area. that's the richmond bridge, right here. the bay bridge moving very smoothly, but highway 37 just now shows that brake tapping across the bridge at mare island, highway 4 still moving very smoothly. i don't think that blip is really anything for 242, but we'll watch as folks travel down there through walnut creek, dublin interchange and 680 continuing into the south bay without any issues. back to you. thank you. mike next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds. she canceled her cell service, but the bills still stack up. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura, nbc bay area

store for a warm up. our summer in the bay area really that warm up today through wednesday and right there the middle of your screen. summer shower chances returning for friday. so we'll talk about two seasons in one week. coming up, as i was telling mike. but right now, flashing lights out of palo alto. what do we have? well actually, we had flashing lights out of palo alto. we'll talk about that. i'm sorry. i changed it. that's okay. i was just just thrown off by the two seasons in one week. over here, we're looking at san jose. i did just change the camera last second on cynthia as we're looking at san jose. the volume here, i just saw it start to ramp up, and i saw those flashing lights clear from palo alto. so good stuff for 101. we are looking at that traditional slowing just a bit near the top of the screen right where it says san jose, right approaching oakland road. a little build and that's pretty traditional, but maybe a few minutes earlier this monday, we'll watch as the schools starting up sees an effect on the morning commute. so far, nothing major. we are looking at a build up a bit for the volume at the traffic at bay bridge, but no build up in the backup.
5:33 am
that's still too early. back to you. thanks so much, mike. we begin this half hour with decision 2024 and the start of the democratic national convention. president biden is helping to kick things off tonight in chicago. so scott mcgrew is here. this is not going to be a goodbye speech, but there are a lot of farewell moments. yeah, i think that's fair to say. i mean, he's still going to be president until january, no matter who wins. and his role tonight will be firing people up, getting them behind kamala harris. but sure, barring any national crises, this may be the last major speech we hear from the president. mr. biden will be one of several speakers tonight, including the first lady, jill biden, and former secretary of state hillary clinton. here's biden on his way to chicago. what's your message to democrats on monday night when president obama speaks tomorrow, culminating in harris accepting her nomination in a speech on thursday? all this taking place in chicago? chicago would like to remind you they

had a totally normal democratic convention back in 1996. but it's the convention of 68 that everybody thinks of when a police riot. and yes, the final determination in the walker report was it was the police who rioted against antiwar protesters, a black eye on that city that lasts until this day. so there is tension over planned protests today. this is a time lapse of an antiwar protest to stop the war in gaza. as they marched down michigan avenue in chicago, we sped it up so you can see how big it is. meantime, side note secretary of state antony blinken is right now meeting with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu. if they were able to negotiate a ceasefire in the next few days or even the next few hours, that would help heal a rift in american politics, particularly in the democratic party. a protester ran onto the stage in chicago yesterday during the welcome party, shouting free palestine! kamala harris, tim walz and donald trump all in

proposed a federal price gouging law. that's the communism that trump is referring to. trump, meantime, continues to suggest a 10 or 20% tariff on imported goods because americans pay that tariff, economists worry it would cause inflation. our coverage of the democratic national convention begins today. president biden will speak. you will see that live right here on nbc bay area well, you know, one oakland man will attend the dnc as a special guest of presidential nominee kamala harris. derrick johnson says he met her when they were teenagers 44 years ago. and he's flying into the windy city later today. johnson says harris is tough, fair and determined to make the country a better place. very empathetic, she doesn't come from a privileged background. she comes from a hard working single mother, and she can definitely relate, so she can relate to everyday americans. johnson is traveling to chicago with five other childhood friends of the vice president. they plan to meet with many californians while

they're there. the chairman of the california democratic party says the golden state is bringing the largest delegation to the event, numbering 500. ahead, at 6:00, we will take you out live to chicago, where security is being beefed up ahead of the convention. and some demonstrators are already protesting today in the bay's alice barr will lay out the measures now being taken to keep everyone safe. well, happening today, waymo plans to address what's been a vexing problem in san francisco. for some people, it's even leading to some sleepless nights. it's all the results of loud, honking horns at really odd hours. and it's in those buildings where it just kind of reverberates. yeah, exactly. today in the bay's bob redell is live this morning. and bob, what is waymo planning to say? well, that's a good question. they've already addressed this issue before last week. good morning to you chris and lauren expected to do that later today. the director of product management management

it fixed that problem, too. now, the woman who set up the live youtube channel to watch these autonomous vehicles moving in and out of the lot, says that her feed now has a global audience. we like having them there. like they're really fun to look at. we just like them to stop honking. that's sophia chung, who runs the feed, who again says waymo's director of product management has agreed to a live interview with her on the feed later this afternoon. we have reached out to waymo to comment on the most recent honking, but have yet to hear back. reporting live, bob redell today in the bay. all right. thank you very much, bob. i would hate to wake up that way. that would be a tough one. well, happening today, three men expected to enter a plea in connection with the shooting death of a security guard killed while protecting a tv news crew. kevin died two years ago in oakland. during what investigators say was an attempted robbery. alameda county district attorney pamela price added enhanced charges for

monday morning. look at that sun coming up over the bay area, giving us a nice live look outside over san jose. cinthia pimentel is in for kari this morning. looking forward to a nice day ahead. yeah, some people trying to shake off the sunday scaries and we wake up to some patchy clouds. sfo maybe people are coming in this morning or lucky you, you're heading out. we're going to stay on the peninsula though and see those patchy clouds mix out of here by around mid-morning and give us nice sunshine and mild temperatures in the 70s for our lunchtime. as we go on and plan the rest of our workweek here, we're going to slightly get warmer today. tomorrow, though, will be the warmest day of the week. some of our valleys going into the 80s and some seconds, but that will be short lived as we go on into the weekend. cooler and a chance of rain. we'll talk about where coming up in the full forecast in a few minutes. mike how's the commute picking up? it's picking up just on a pretty normal schedule, but maybe the sensors are showing a little more volume. we're looking at the bay bridge and it

looks just fine from this live look from emeryville. but then the sensors do show across scattered across that westbound upper deck into san francisco. there's moore slowing the metering lights, undoubtedly turning on any second now. we've seen highway 37 kick off about standard time. highway 4 shows more slowing than we have seen for a few months. about this time, aside from a spotty event or two, this is not your typical monday morning, so we're looking for more volume. that's likely what we see when those schools start up around the bay over here. san francisco school start up today. remember that a lot of cross town walkers here. we're looking at oracle park also with the game tonight. and this is one of the first three days this week where we'll have more activity there and across the bay. so they're not playing each other tonight oakland and san francisco. so oakland's got a game as well. and it's over at the coliseum. just the note. typical evening game. there may be some folks traveling to the coliseum as you're passing by after work in the south bay. we saw this kick off a little bit earlier, and now there's a little more sensor slowing. so we're in the orange zone. that's about 50. that's about the upper

home, which is a few thousand more than renting a home for 20 years. at $338,000. but right now, in the san francisco metro area, the average home costs $1.2 million. in comparison, it costs $609,000 to rent a home for 20 years, which is almost twice the cost. san jose, meanwhile, has the dubious distinction of having the highest price to rent ratio in the entire country. the median home price is now $1.5 million, compared to 715,000 for 20 years of rent. home prices throughout california are at record highs. meanwhile home for oakland a's fans will soon be no more. they are next season, of course, playing in sacramento. yeah, but over the weekend it allows giants and a's fans to soak in one last bay bridge series. the coliseum saw some season high crowds this weekend, as nearly 40,000 fans attended each of the

two games. for many, it was emotional, with a lot of former players also on hand. yesterday's last game had some extra inning drama with the score tied at one. it went into extra innings, then in the 10th, back to back home runs gave the giants a lead they wouldn't give up. giants won the game 4 to 2, splitting the final series at one game apiece. it's like we saw history happen, right? it's just so weird that it's over. it will be continual as that ends. football will start. niners. okay, we're over it. yeah niners fans, they certainly have something to look forward to this season. hopefully finishing with another return to the super bowl. wouldn't that be nice? last night they played their one and only home preseason game. that means the fans at levi's got their first in-person taste of this year's team. they hosted the saints and many of the first teamers never played, which is normal. but quarterback brock purdy did get some reps and reps

in. he didn't look very sharp, but after the game, he said he got what he needed. i think it was good just to get out there, get a feel for obviously the game speed and getting hit and trying to go through reads and stuff and just get the feel again. obviously it wasn't as productive as i'd have liked to have been myself, but you know, that's why it's preseason. it's okay. don't get in your head. brock backup quarterback josh dobbs led the niners on a scoring drive before the half, and the niners hung on to beat the saints 16 to 10. hard to believe we're talking football. i know. maybe the cooler temperatures. we'll talk to cynthia. all right. here at nbc bay area, we have kicked off our annual clear the shelters. this is always such a great annual event. over the past ten years, nbc and telemundo telemundo stations nationwide have helped more than 1 million pets find good homes. we've also helped raise nearly $5 million for animal shelters in need, and as a part of the push to find pets their forever homes, we teamed up with the oakland zoo for the clear. the shelters adoption

that, my kids were like, what are you, jim carrey in the mask? oh, i don't remember. you were cute like that. i only wore one yellow one. yeah. 600. i mean, i tell them that i am immune to peer pressure, but don't tell them i'm. yeah, i'm susceptible to their peer. okay, let's see if you need a hat to walk the dog this afternoon. we're going to be wardrobe weather confused this week. i'll put it at that. we've got two seasons in one week. pretty interesting. we'll talk about it. and our microclimates are showing. beautiful sunrise over the valleys there. dublin. but look at san francisco. our camera from sutro tower. don't you just want to lay in this and just maybe put monday on pause for a second? yeah. me too. as we go throughout the morning, it's going to feel like fall with those temperatures up in the north bay upper 40s and some low 50s for santa rosa, mid 50s throughout the bay to some upper 50s and low 60s down here in the south bay. it will slowly start to warm up, giving us a nice,
5:54 am
comfortable, mild lunchtime hour. so stepping outside and getting some of that sunshine, we'll get some mid 70s upper 70s for the north bay. 69 degrees in fremont and some cool 60s for the first half of the day throughout the peninsula. then into the afternoon. here's where we start to bring up those temperatures just a little bit compared to yesterday, and definitely compared to saturday, where we had that cool down as we go on and talk about our highs mid 80s for santa rosa, 80 degrees in moraga, and we'll do 84 in morgan hill, 67 and breezy through the afternoon in the peninsula. we've gotten used to that breezy pattern in the afternoon. speaking of the afternoon and the entire day ahead school day forecast in sunnyvale, of course. bring that light sweater by the afternoon. plenty of sunshine to continue and just get out that energy out in the playground. 77 degrees tomorrow. even warmer. so remember to pack lots of water and a lot of sunscreen as we get some temperatures going back

into the low 90s for solano county. upper 80s down through the south county and some pleasant mild temperatures along the peninsula in the low 70s. but really, that will be it. wednesday and beyond will start a little bit of a cooling trend as we see a low pressure system start to drop down. the coast once again. there's that green on the screen. could be some rain returns that we start to pick up. definitely for the north bay and just north of the golden gate bridge, how far south it comes down into the bay area is still trying to put those details together, so this is how the 7-day forecast goes. warm start to our workweek here. 80s and 90s for tomorrow. cooling again, finding that fall wardrobe for thursday and friday in some spots and then warming up again into the second half of the weekend there. san francisco will be subtle changes in the temperatures and mild day for tomorrow, and then bringing it back down into some cool, breezy 60s by the end of the week. mike, there's more slowing now in san jose. there he is. we expect the volume to start building and it's moved. look at

that. gone up from oakland road. and now the slowing right around the airport that will continue to fill in a bit and then it will clear up. but here's the issue right here. chino approaching 85 and the split. we do have, i think two crashes, two separate crashes. one of them is blocking a couple of your left lanes. so that's the issue coming up from the nbc bay area. that's out of morgan hill and up toward the split. so around the golf course, you'll see some slowing just as you pass by that section of 101. as we're looking toward the rest of the bay, we do have a little more build now for the castro valley y. that's a little earlier than we often see that much slowing. so we're watching for more volume there. contra costa county moving fine. so is the bay bridge with the backup building. we have a crash heading north across benicia bridge. no slowing. i'll check on it. back to you. thank you. mike. happening now. east bay regional parks are among those warning people that it is calving season. so make sure you stay away from young cows and their mothers who are primed to protect their defenseless calves. rangers say avoid approaching or touching the
