seattle up 1913. geno smith. waiting. waiting. finding zach charbonnet for a 30 yard touchdown. seahawks win pop. they look good in the second half. and geno broke a long touchdown run. they were not good in the first half. and mike mcdonald their new head coach, had him tight in the second half. jared goff and the lions hosting matthew stafford and the rams fourth quarter. rams are down 1713. matthew stafford cooper kupp. rams up 2017. 20s left in the game. lions down 2017 greg papa screaming for no overtime but jake bates makes it. we're tied at 20. papas dinners plans postponed but not for long. david montgomery, the beast. first lions ot win since 2016. 2620 the final score. what does it all mean? who are you worried about in the nfc west? all of them. are you? arizona is

dramatically improved. buffalo came back but arizona led that game 17 to 3 late in the first half. the rams lost the game and puka nacua suffered a knee injury. they had to cart him off the field. but they got cooper kupp back. and i think seattle is with mike mcdonald going from the oldest coach in the nfl, pete carroll to the young. so i think who worries you the most in the division. the rams i think. but seattle's we'll see about this puka nacua injury. but getting getting cooper kupp back is certainly. and we're going to see the rams after this first game against the jets. the 49 ers have to go to minnesota on a short week. by the way sam darnold looked amazing today. then we go to la to play the rams. so i think most people would say the rams were a playoff team a year ago. lost to detroit seattle won nine games last year. they were nine and eight. and they fired pete carroll and arizona played a lot better last year than four wins, so i think we're looking at two, maybe three teams from the nfc west making the playoffs one to win the division, possibly two, will be in the wild card. well,
9:03 pm
49ers went to the super bowl last year and we're wondering what happens to teams that lose a super bowl and go back the next year. six teams have done it. the bills on this list did it two more times after super bowl 25. the patriots, the last team to return after a loss and win. they did that in super bowl 53, where they beat the rams a year earlier. they had lost to the eagles. what do you think a post-super bowl. yeah. trajectory is for the san francisco 40 niners. buffalo lost four in a row. so they did come back three different times after a loss. and they were able to get back jauan jennings would have been the mvp of the super bowl. what i like about tomorrow night and kick it off at 515 against the jets, we can start talking about last year and i think the guys already are on paper this is a super bowl team, but every year is a new year. you have to go out and play. you just got to make sure you stay healthy. and it starts with, i'm hoping christian mccaffrey. mccaffrey with the calf and partly with the achilles a little bit. i hope cmc plays tomorrow night. our must see
9:04 pm
moment is about christian mccaffrey. it's brought to you by zena, the official eyewear of the san francisco 49ers. christian is officially listed as questionable tomorrow with a calf achilles. unofficially. papa. he said he's not concerned and he will play. are you concerned with the achilles and how much does he play? well, he said that on thursday. i'm just hoping he got through the rest of the week. well we'll see. christian is a tough guy. when we went to the nfc championship game in philadelphia a couple of years ago, i thought, there's no way he's playing in this game. he also had a calf injury or leg injury against dallas the week before. he did not take part in the walkthrough the morning of the game, and i thought he's not playing. and then not only did he play in the game, he was the niners best player when he jumped over marcus epps and a few others for a touchdown. so i know they want to run the ball tomorrow night. you're looking at 30 plus runs will be the recipe. the jets defense is really good. but last year they were vulnerable the way the scheme is and they play the 49ers wide nine. and the 40 niners sometimes have problems stopping the run. if there is a
9:05 pm
weakness to the jets with their wide nine scheme in the front, you can run at them. so obviously you want the best player and certainly the best running back in the nfl. mccaffrey but if he doesn't go you got jp mason. you've got other guys. you could even line up deebo and hand him the ball in the backfield. if he led the league in rushing was tied for first in touchdowns. we'll take a break i'll get papa's opinion on what aaron rodgers will do that and much, much more as we continue. but first let's get a preview of the news which is up next. here's gio. hey dave. coming up in just a few minutes, we've got an update on a fast moving wildfire burning in clear lake. thousands of people evacuated as flames destroy homes and threaten others. we've got live team coverage. also dangerous sideshows take over the bay bridge and east bay streets. the action, one city leader says, needs to happen now. plus i have chills. i'm very excited and i'm proud of him. gearing up for game day. we catch up with the mom of a ninersookie r
9:08 pm
game live starts at 4 p.m. immediately following the game. it's post game live interviews everything from the field. you want to watch only there for all your 49ers coverage. robert saleh is the old defensive coordinator. now the head coach of the jets. so he's playing his old team. kyle's got to face him. and what do you expect from aaron rodgers? well, i think the key thing is you know can his new offensive tackles protect him. they went in the offseason and got tyron smith from dallas. he's an eight time pro bowler a really good player. but he's older at age 33. then you got morgan moses longtime washington football team commander. and then last year we saw him with the baltimore ravens. so i think it's up to nick bosa and leonard floyd to put pressure on aaron rodgers tomorrow night. he is such a great thrower of the football. looks like he's reasonably 100% as close as you can to be, but he's back as far
9:09 pm
as the achilles injury. so if he sits in that mid line he will carve you up. so you've got to get pressure on him and i can't wait for the chess match between kyle and robert saleh. i know playing your old coordinator now a head coach there is some absolutely pop i'm going to come visit you in the booth before the game. by the lauren simmons broadcast booth will be there at 4:00. i want to say hi to you and maybe eat some of your free press box food. i'm getting food from you tonight. i told you a good place to go. thanks for watching. 49ers and jets tomorrow.

i came to bayview hunter's point, where there was only one pediatrician to serve more than 10,000 children. daniel lurie said, i'm going to help. we opened a clinic for our most vulnerable children. i have worked shoulder to shoulder with him as we have brought solutions where people thought the problem was unsolvable. daniel doesn't take excuses. he holds himself accountable. and i know that he can do it for the city of san francisco. i'm so sorry jack about the mess that big yellow and i made. yeah, is there any way that i can make it up to you? actually, you could help me promote my new $6 big deal meal. you think i could be bought, you son of a—

news. i'm terry mcsweeney and i'm gia vang. we begin with breaking news in the north bay a wildfire burning in the city of clear lake has forced thousands to evacuate the so-called boyles fire sparked late this afternoon. flames have burned about 90 acres, destroying dozens of homes and cars. crews are racing to stop the spread. tonight, nbc bay area's alyssa goard joins us live. she is in clear lake. alyssa, so much going on up there right now. terry. it is a really difficult night for the 4000 people here in clear lake who had to evacuate their homes due to the boyles fire here, and many of them actually fear that their homes might be lost. now, we actually just heard from city, state and county officials here in a press conference who say this is yet another significant fire in a community that has been historically hard hit by other wildfires. they say this fire was fast moving and actually jumped quickly over multiple city blocks. we know that at least 30 buildings were
9:13 pm
burned and 40 to 50 cars were destroyed. now, we don't know yet the cause of this fire and no one has been reported injured or killed. many people left in a hurry at around 2 p.m. when they saw flames starting to burn from this fire. we actually spoke with one man who's lived here in clear lake for 25 years. he has been waiting on the side of the road for the road to open back up so he can see what's become of his home. he fears the worst has happened. wow. very bad. is that true? because everything is closed down. yeah. for many years, all the history that my family, the many things that my family has done. and there is an evacuation center that is open for people like him that is at twin pines casino in middletown, which is about 19 miles away from here, live in clear lake. alyssa goard, nbc, bay area news. alyssa thank you very

much. right now, let's bring in meteorologist rob mayeda. and rob, we are talking about the heat, the winds, the low humidity. what's going on up there now? well, you can see the backdrop behind alyssa there. the winds have calmed down. the humidity is starting to recover a little bit. we're now into the low 70s, but very different conditions. earlier this afternoon, temperatures in the mid 90s. gusty wind, humidity below 16%. and you can see a time lapse of that fire the black smoke. unfortunately the structures that have gotten involved with the fire, along with some air drops at times shifting winds too. we had strong southeast winds at times, then changing back over to southwesterly winds. but again, the good news at least weather wise, right now, is the winds have backed off and those temperatures have cooled down a little bit. but what's concerning later this week is we could see more wind and the wind that is typically associated with fire danger. the potential of off shore wind returning not just for lake county, but for the entire bay area. as we head towards the middle part of the week, we'll take a closer look at those changes and possibly some showers for parts of

northern california. as we approach the middle part of the week and our microclimate forecast coming up in a few minutes, back to you. wouldn't that be nice? rob, thanks a lot. well, our team has been sending out updates as we get them. if you haven't already, make sure to download our free nbc bay area app. we'll send breaking news and weather alerts straight to your phone. another weekend of illegal sideshows in the bay area. the stunt driving happened on the bay bridge and in several east bay cities. video shows cars taking over the street near west cutting and canal boulevard. this is in richmond. police say nearly 200 spectators were there and lasted for about eight minutes before the cops got there. nbc bay area's christie smith has more on that chaotic night. reporter a dangerous stunt driving taking over oakland streets again overnight at the intersection of hegenberger and edgewater. one driver lost control, veering toward spectators. we are stopping the video before it happens, but the car does plow into the crowd, hitting someone. then the night before gunfire

and screeching cars at another illegal sideshow in east oakland caught on video. certainly there. we have always had challenges when it comes to public safety, but not but not at the level that we have today. council member noel gallo weighed in. i was out there this morning. yep. i did see cars that ran over light poles. they ran over signs that are left on the street and they were part of sideshows because they burned their tires and they just leave the car there. we reached out to oakland police and are waiting to hear back. meantime, the department posted on social media it will collaborate with law enforcement partners to enforce illegal sideshows, reminding people who participate in sideshows. their cars could be towed and held for 30 days. at the end of the day, we do need to enforce the laws that we have and because it's out of control and i have many people that are coming into oakland from outside of oakland, and we're allowing these individuals to get away with that. the stunt
9:17 pm
drivers also blocked lanes on the bay bridge early sunday morning. again, video shows a driver hit a spectator. we've paused the video before that moment, the chp says. after about 20 minutes, the sideshow began to break up. officers tried to stop drivers, but pursuits were discontinued out of concern for public safety. just a few weeks ago, the chp joined san francisco city leaders in talking about efforts to crack down on sideshows after complaints about dirt bike riders who took over oakland and san francisco streets. they'll schedule them on a specific day, but we don't necessarily know the time, so we are constantly monitoring those to try to get the updates as to where they're going to end up. back in oakland, police weren't dealing with just sideshows yesterday afternoon, a shooting on 23rd street claimed the lives of two people. the bottom line is we do need we do need more law enforcement on the streets. and you commit the crime. you'll do the time. christie smith, nbc,
9:18 pm
bay area news. tonight we are seeing new video of an alleged confrontation between san francisco police and a street vendor. police say it happened about 1130 this morning near pier 33 on the embarcadero. that's where you catch the ferry to alcatraz. they tell us officers were assisting the department of health, public works and the port of san francisco with an illegal vending enforcement operation. now police say the city workers were confiscating items from the vendor when she allegedly assaulted a port worker. officers arrested her before citing her and releasing her right there at the scene. the vendor tells us she does not believe she committed a crime. she told our nathalie vera she doesn't speak english and didn't understand what they were telling her to do. she claims the officers used excessive force when they arrested her. the vendor is due in court in october. an incredible comeback story is in the works for 49ers rookie ricky pearsall. we're now learning he could be back on the field next month. pearsall was shot in the chest during an
9:19 pm
attempted robbery in san francisco last weekend. nfl media's mike garofalo reports the team's expectation is that pearsall will be able to play in week five against the arizona cardinals. that game is set for october 6th. of course, this would be if he is cleared for play and officially off the injured list. police arrested a 17 year old from tracy, who they say tried to rob pearsall before shooting him. this happened in union square. the suspect was also shot but will be okay. he's due in court tuesday. okay. the niners kick off their 2024 season tomorrow night against the new york jets. monday night football and levi's stadium is going to be the place to be indeed faithful from all over the country have flown in for the game, including one family with a very personal investment. nbc bay area's marianne favro joining us live at levi's stadium, where fans are already gearing up for the game, marianne. yes, all afternoon and even tonight, we've seen fans pull up here and take pictures of levi's stadium. they're also

buying a lot of merch from the team store. but for one, mom from florida, tomorrow is more than just a football game. it's about watching her son achieve his childhood dream. it's up to you. it's not every day a mom can buy a niners jersey with her own son's last name on it, and shavon bethune says she can't wait to wear it tomorrow. i'm here to cheer on my son, tatum bethune. this is his first nfl game, monday night lights. she says her son, linebacker tatum bethune, has been playing football since he was four years old. and after a long wait, was the niners 251st draft pick. here's the game changing phone call he got from the niners gm. hey, how are you doing? good. it's john lynch from the 49ers. hey, how you doing? i'm doing great. we're about to make you a 40 niner. we're going to draft you, man. congratulations. thank you. coach. coach kyle shanahan welcomed him to tatum. congrats man. appreciate it coach. all

9:22 pm
tomorrow the team is implementing some new tailgating rules right here in this parking lot. i'll tell you about that and why fans are upset. coming up at 11. back to you guys. sounds good. mary ann, thank you very much. and remember tatum bethune, i will remember niners held a rally for the faithful ahead of tomorrow's season opener. today's free event was held at the plex on embedded way in san jose. that's a party. fans were there and they were treated to live entertainment and free giveaways. they also got to meet some 49ers royalty. seeing the faithful here today coming out, thousands of them coming out on a sunday afternoon just to celebrate their team. it's a lot of fun. recognize that guy? yeah he he was an amazing quarterback out of san jose state. niners are going to take on the new york jets tomorrow night. game kicks off 515. don't forget to join our partners at nbc sports bay area for 49ers pregame live. we're talking about carlos ramirez, rod brooks, donte whitner. coverage begins at 4:00 tomorrow

is from up in the north bay. a fast moving brush fire is threatening homes in clearlake, 90 acres of burn containment is now up to 10%. at least 30 structures have burned, along with some 40 to 50 cars. no injuries reported right now, mandatory evacuations are underway in clear lake. talking about thousands of people. no word yet on what might have sparked that fire. well, this has the football world talking tonight. just hours before his first game of the season, miami dolphins wide receiver tyreek hill, detained by police. this video posted on instagram, shows hill face down on the ground as officers appear to handcuff him. hill's agent says the athlete was on the way to the stadium when police stopped him for reckless driving. gave him a ticket and detained him. at a postgame news conference, hill said he was pulled over for speeding but did not provide more information. i wasn't disrespectful, you know, because my mom didn't raise me that way, didn't cuss, didn't do none of that. what if i wasn't tyreek
9:27 pm
hill? lord knows like what that guy or guys would have. did you feel me? the miami-dade police department says it is looking into this incident. and one of the officers has been placed on administrative leave. hill was still able to play in today's game. he helped the dolphins beat the jacksonville jaguars. a south bay community came together to give back to a teacher who was hit by a recent tragedy. this pop up lemonade stand at today's viva kahleah event in san jose is in honor of esther bono. the teacher's home was gutted by a fire last week, and then when the house was red tagged. to make matters worse, if they could get worse, thieves came in and stole what was left, including her jewelry, her son's mountain bike that had just gotten for his birthday. bonta first grade students at tracey elementary teamed up with their parents to raise funds for her. they handed out lemonade, cookies, and cupcakes in return for donations. the stands saw a steady stream of supporters. it's very busy. a lot of people have come by to support this really, really wonderful cause. it's such a tragedy for her
9:28 pm
teacher to have lost her house. but for the community to come out like this is what san jose is all about. we really love her, and she's our first grade teacher. wow. there is also a gofundme page set up to help the family get back on its feet. all right, let's take a look outsid. now. this is over downtown san jose. looks like clear skies there tonight. rob mayeda is here now. rob, it was a really nice weekend. yeah summerlike weekend. we had those 90s inland again and closer to san jose. temperatures in the upper 80s. and, you know, 24 hours from now. monday night football will be wrapping up. we'll see similar conditions we expect around this time tomorrow night where it's still in the low 70s in san jose. as jim mentioned, some clear skies around san jose as we take you inland, though, the ac is not really getting a break today in those inland east bay valleys, also south around morgan hill. pretty hot today. still 79 degrees into dublin and around san rafael. low 70s currently, but the view a bit different as you get down
9:29 pm
towards san francisco. look at that. you've got the transamerica pyramid putting on a little bit of a light show tonight. and look how low those low clouds are right down there, squished below the tops of the golden gate bridge towers and the higher buildings around downtown san francisco at 57 degrees. so as you go farther inland, concord still 81 degrees 80 out towards sacramento. then as we continue into tomorrow morning, the onshore wind will bring in some of that fog we're beginning to see around san francisco, locally, around the inner bay, with sunshine moving forward into the afternoon. and i think just one more day we'll see a chance of those 90s before the cooler changes arrive. tuesday through midweek. so for the morning we've got lows, mostly in the upper 50s and low 60s, and our highs tomorrow south of san jose. still going to hang on to those 90s morgan hill low 90s as opposed to the upper 90s we had in a lot of areas. again today. tri-valley still in the 90s tomorrow as you head north on 680 to walnut creek, but oakland and hayward mid to upper 70s tomorrow, close to 70. in san mateo. and now
9:30 pm
cooling temperatures again from half moon bay to daly city, downtown san francisco, upper 60s and the north bay on monday should be in the mid 80s. so speaking of monday night football kickoff temperatures should be close to 80 degrees and as the game continues, we'll see temperatures dropping through the 70s. maybe a little bit cooler than we have outside right now. and speaking of cooler, here's where inland temperatures finally drop. the 90s come off the board tuesday. on into wednesday, you see how inland highs are now in the upper 70s to low 80s. that will take us through thursday, but we do have the chance of showers wednesday and wind may be a bit of an issue with that wednesday thursday pattern. so here's your best chance of showers. you see what happened right there. mendocino county northward. probably the best chance for that. maybe some local drizzle on the coast. but what will likely get here in the bay area are these winds picking up out of the west northwest. so wednesday right now looks to be pretty windy across the bay area hills. and we have to watch heading into thursday morning is the change in that wind
9:31 pm
direction offshore wind lowers humidity levels and despite the cooler temperatures, you have to watch out for those offshore winds. this time of year. so 7-day forecast shows temperatures starting to cool a little bit through midweek. shower chances probably best north of sonoma county on wednesday, but the eyes will be on the wind. beautiful for monday night football tomorrow. but as we move forward through september, anytime you get north winds or the sign of offshore breezes, we have to watch that closely as we pass through the middle part of the week is going to help that. the boyles fire up in lake county tomorrow. perhaps not as windy, but still there, still looking at some seconds up there during the day tomorrow. so hopefully they're making some good progress. all right rob, thanks. all right. still ahead, the nfl season is kicking off and there's a huge announcement about the super bowl today. who's headlining the halftime show. we'll tell you next

was a fun time. thousands came out to oakland's 14th annual pride parade in downtown oakland this morning. nbc bay area telemundo 48. we were also there with our signature rainbow on black float. and did you see any familiar faces as part of the float crew? meteorologist kari hall is there. and there i am. you might see me. there you are there as well. the parade stretched down broadway from 14th street to 21st street, and later families enjoyed a festival with entertainers on different stages. so much fun. very nice. as our 10th annual clear the shelters campaign comes to an end. the east bay spca made one last run towards getting animals into forever homes. they held a community run with shelter dogs this morning. you see the dogs got to get some exercise, get some fresh air and of course a lot of sunshine. have a good time. the shelter says it's a unique way to showcase the animals and their work, to really just invite the public to come in to see all of
9:37 pm
the different programs that we have to offer, to offer a unique opportunity for the public to get involved in some of these programs and to really showcase the dogs and get some of them adopted. east bay spca also reminds us, even though the clear the shelters campaign is wrapping up, there are plenty of animals that still need a home. like maybe that guy right there. our efforts are not over yet. by any stretch are clear. the shelters campaign runs through tuesday. if you can't adopt many of our shelters also need volunteers. for more information, scan the qr code on your screen. it will take you to our website to find a shelter near you. if you're looking to maybe volunteer or donate or of course, adopt. okay up next, our breaking news coverage continues out of lake county tonight. we are tracking the latest on evacuations as crews work to contain the boyles fire burning in clear lake. stay with us

as we have brought solutions where people thought the problem was unsolvable. daniel doesn't take excuses. he holds himself accountable. and i know that he can do it for the city of san francisco. it happened last week at the spirit halloween store on summersville road. police say they got a call from someone who

saw two men inside the store with a flashlight. when officers got there, they found the suspects wearing halloween masks and putting shopping carts full of costumes. they say surveillance video shows them breaking into the store. both were arrested. a lot of people feel it's too early to be talking about halloween. anyway, turning to the weather now let's hear from carl. the fog. you know, no matter how warm it is inland, you often makes an appearance there at the golden gate bridge. and sometimes he just covers up the top of the tower or the bottom of the tower, and it's just kind of a kind of a mystical experience as you're driving across that absolutely gorgeous golden gate bridge. and that's the way it was today. rob mayeda almost, almost like you never know what carl's going to do. you don't know what he's going to do. it's different every day. it was certainly different today. and it says a lot about the weather inland too. as you can see we have the fog blanket as opposed to the fog sealing that compressed marine layer meant we had 90s to 100 inland today. but all this starts to change tomorrow. cooler changes on the

real between sand hill road and san antonio avenue. caltrans will be grinding and paving the road in both directions. there will also be temporary lane closures along the route. parking ban will be in place every night this week. it starts at nine tomorrow night and we are following breaking news out of lake county. a fire destroys 30 homes in clear lake. it has burned about 90 acres since it started. this afternoon, about around 3:00. the fire has forced nearly 4000 people to evacuate. no injuries reported. firefighters still working to stop the forward progress. we're going to continue to follow this story. we'll update you throughout the night. all right. rob mayeda here now. and rob, you're talking about every single hour. that seems to be like the weather is changing up there right now. working in their favor. less wind, humidit,

starting to recover a little bit, and some cooler temperatures from now to probably about. sunrise will start off with that. boyle's fire. they're burning in clear lake temperatures currently outside have gone from the 90s into the upper 60s. you see the humidity up to 35%. and those conditions should carry through about 7:00 in the morning. now, consider the fire started today around 2 to 3 in the afternoon, and we're going to see similar conditions to what we had today. we're talking 90s. humidity at 15% and the wind will be picking up. so hopefully good progress is made overnight into the morning. they're going to be seeing the weather again not in the favor of firefighters inland of those hot temperatures. and breezy conditions. and speaking of hot, we still had upper 90s to 100 for an extra day around the bay area. look at livermore 100 degrees 90. san jose, san francisco near 70. as the marine air got compressed as opposed to building up and moving inland so that cooldown on hold for those inland valleys should make a

little progress in that. tomorrow, tuesday and wednesday, those temperatures will drop by about 20 degrees. right now, still 73. in san jose around walnut creek, as you saw upper 90s today, 81 degrees still there as you head over to san rafael, we're at 69 degrees and into san francisco. the fog right over downtown. there you go. 57 degrees may have some patchy, dense fog for your morning commute. by the way, around the golden gate bridge in the coast. 50s and 60s around the inner bay right now as those onshore winds pick up and pull in the low clouds across the bay, then back into the sunshine as we head into the afternoon with our morning temperatures in the 50s and 60s as opposed to being close to 100 degrees around morgan hill and livermore, we should see low 90s south of san jose tri valley. another day. you could still see those 90s 70s closer to oakland, up towards san francisco and daly city in the 60s and north bay, temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 80s. and good news for monday night football. not quite as hot around. kickoff

time 79 degrees with 70s as the game continues on past halftime. so here's the real cooldown. livermore and morgan hill tuesday wednesday, and thursday. we're now in the 80s and a chance of showers to the north. winds picking up at times into thursday, but the best chance of showers going to be staying north as in mostly north of sonoma county. it's the wind. i think we'll be watching across the hills, turning a little gusty at times, especially above 1000ft on into wednesday and thursday. as you can see, coastal temperatures not changing much. in fact, they're going to go up a little bit around san francisco midweek and inland locations, which have been baking all weekend. we'll get some relief from those temperatures, but again, we'll have to watch those winds midweek. but for monday night football interests, tomorrow looks pretty good as we watch those temperatures in the upper 70s around kickoff time. temperatures looking good. are the 49ers looking good? here's anthony florez talk about it. that is the million dollar question. the 49ers only had one week of practice with all of

wait... what?! the one and only frosty is a buck? gotta be wendy's. just can't wait for tomorrow when the 49ers kick off the season against the new york jets at levi's stadium. now there are a lot of unanswered questions for the niners heading into monday night. here's what we do know. brock purdy, deebo samuel, george kittle, nick bosa and fred warner. they all looked great during training camp, but running back christian mccaffrey is questionable with a bad calf and achilles. trent williams and brandon aiyuk only started practicing last week after holding out for more money. george kittle doesn't think it will slow the niners down. the guys who have been missing reps are talented enough that they're going to be okay. now you might see a little bit of rust i don't know. i don't really expect to
9:55 pm
see rust. it's monday night football only game on television like they're going to be up and ready for it. i'm not worried about them. and you know, like i said, you know, most of our roster was here practicing. so i think a lot of guys are ready and they're going to go out there and play at a high level. all right. so when the niners look across the line of scrimmage, they'll see a familiar face. quarterback aaron rodgers. they've had some classic battles against the chico native when he was with the green bay packers. so it's going to be a little strange for the niners to see him in a jets uniform. it'll be different, you know obviously we've had our battles over the years, man. i love competing against aaron. i'm happy to see him back healthy. so it'll be a great matchup. yeah he'll be wearing a different uniform but it's definitely still him. so we'll prepare like we're playing him. it's a long season. it's a marathon. but we know what it takes. and you know monday night for us it's the start of a whole new journey. so i'm excited for it. in los angeles, former niners head coach jim harbaugh making his return to the nfl with the chargers taking on the raiders. it was looking good for the silver and black early.

gardner minshew dumps it to alexander mattison. look at this. leaps over to the defender on his way to the end zone. but it was all chargers after that la beats las vegas 22 to 10. good for harbaugh. not so good for the raiders. hey, coach. what happened? i mean the run game was poor. passing game was off and then turnovers is just you can't do it. you can't have three turnovers on the road and expect to win. he's right. you got to eliminate all those three things and you can win. all right to baseball. the giants wrapping up their three game series in san diego. matt chapman gets the party started in the fourth. he smashes a two run shot a few batters later. arod encarnacion strokes a deep three, but wait, there's more. next batter, luis matos goes yard the giants with three homers in the inning. it was enough to overcome a defensive blunder. later in the game, the giants beat the padres 7 to 6 at the coliseum. a's and tigers well, at least it was a

beautiful day. trey sweeney breaks up a scoreless game with one swing of the bat, and that opened the floodgates for detroit. the tigers go on to beat the a's 9 to 1. oh incredible emotion as alex morgan lets it all sink in. emotional day on the pitch in san diego. two time world cup winner and olympic gold medalist alex morgan is hanging up her cleats. the former cal bear is retiring from soccer after a 15 year career. the 35 year old waves forward is retiring because she's pregnant with her second child. tonight was her 150th and final match in the nwsl. all right, terry, a couple of weeks ago we did this. i wrote it on a piece of paper. my prediction was 12 and five for the regular season. i just put the games i think they're going to lose. so hard to tell what's going to happen in december, november. i heard what george kittle said, but i still got to see it. i got to see the guys

practice before i say they're going to go out and beat the jets. too much respect for all the professional athletes that are out there. the jets have been together, the 49ers, i think they're one of the best teams in football. you look at that roster, everyone's an all star. you got to practice. so there's what i got. losing to the jets. losing to the rams in week three at the seahawks. it's a thursday night game on the road. you got to beat the chiefs before i say you're going to beat them. and they got to beat josh allen. there you go 12 and 512 and five record. write it down folks. anthony thanks a lot. well you talk about a party in san francisco, chase center and thrive city celebrating their fifth anniversary today. they had a block party. visitors got to enjoy the day that live music, live cooking demonstration from celebrity chef tyler florence. food from vendors. visitors also got a free guided tour of chase center, home of the golden state warriors, of course. what a great day. what? five years? wow. time flies. awesome. all right, that's it for us right now. we'll be back at 11. see you then.
