face off with one day to go. harris and trump are hunkering down and prepping for their debate. we're live in washington breaking down their strategies. this is today in the bay and good monday morning i'm ginger conejero saab filling in for marcus washington. and i'm laura garcia. we'll check that monday morning commute with mike in just a little bit. good morning kari. good morning. so our weather has been so hot over the past several days, and we were hoping for a nice little cool down for the weekend, but it looks like it's a bit delayed, so we're starting out with some mid 60s. as you're stepping out the door. at least it is cool to start out for now, and as we go through the next several hours, a nice little warming trend as our temperatures head for the upper 70s at noon. we'll see a high here of 82 degrees and 86 in dublin. there will still be some areas headed for the upper 80s and low 90s. we're up to 87 in napa today and san francisco
5:02 am
stays at a comfortable 71 degrees as we go throughout the week. our temperatures will start to come down a bit and tomorrow is looking really nice. so we'll talk more about this and what's ahead coming up. mike, you're tracking a crash already. yeah. it just came in minutes ago. and moments ago we learned a detail saying the transition from southbound to 101 on the eastbound 200 37th may be blocked temporarily because of a crash. a car went off the roadway. no major injuries reported. and this is not a major commute time, but this is an important connector, so we'll watch for the update. i'll let you know if anything is blocked. we do see a little early slowing right here. northbound 101. this is typically not seen until 540 this morning. i'll check on what's going on there as well, and we'll take a live camera in the vicinity. the rest of the drive. typical build out of the altamont pass. no major problems for the tri-valley. contra costa county looks great for the early drive. and so is the north bay and all avenues getting towards your bridges. back over to you. thanks a lot, mike. now we are following breaking news overnight and new details on a

police shooting in san jose involving a gunman that police say was firing at bystanders. here's a live look at the scene. now. this happened last night outside a 7-eleven on center road. you can see from this map it's south of hellyer avenue. it's also less than a mile from valley christian high school. now, police say officers responded at about 9:30 p.m. to reports of a man shooting a gun. at least one person is believed to have been shot. they were brought to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries. officers say the gunman was still armed when they shot him. he suffered life threatening injuries. our thom jensen is following developments on this. he'll have a live report in our next half hour. meanwhile, police in san francisco are searching for a suspect after two people and a dog were shot in san francisco. police say the shooting happened just after four yesterday afternoon. video

posted on citizen app shows the scene near the corner of willow and polk streets in the tenderloin, in the city. officers found two people and a dog, all had been shot. medics were called to the scene and the victims were taken to the hospital. there is no word on how they're doing or what led up to the shooting. there's just one day to go before the much awaited debate, which could make or break the race for both presidential candidates. the showdown between vice president kamala harris and former president donald trump could be the only one before election day. today, in the bay's brie jackson live in washington. she's been tracking it all. i'm a little excited about it. brie what do we know about each? candidates like their preparations for it. hi there. laura. as you mentioned, this is possibly a make or break debate for these two candidates. and they are preparing in two different ways. vice president harris, she has been in pittsburgh since thursday preparing for the debate and working on ways to weave her biography into her policy answers. meanwhile, former

president trump has been preparing by holding meetings with advisers and having rallies with former president trump and vice president harris preparing to face off. harris holding mock debates and making campaign stops in pittsburgh. are you ready? madam vice president? i'm ready. trump previewing his punchlines at rallies. we're run by stupid people. stupid, stupid people. and we found that out at the debate with joe. how did that work out? the two presidential hopefuls locked in a tight race. both campaigns know there is a lot at stake. well, listen, i don't think she's going to underestimate donald trump. after all, he's been engaged in these debates at the presidential level since 2016. i think he needs to let kamala harris talk something she's been reluctant to do unless she's reading a teleprompter. harris picking up key endorsements from

republicans liz and dick cheney. i applaud the cheneys for their courage in defending democracy. it's going to make the difference, is their records. tuesday's debate could be the difference maker for voters concerned about issues ranging from immigration to the economy. i think the debate really reveals a lot of the honest opinions of the people that are running for the offices. i think the debates opened up a lot of answers to a lot of people's questions. harris and trump will make their case on the debate stage at the national constitution center in pennsylvania, a must win state for both candidates. and pennsylvania has sided with the winner of the last two presidential elections. laura. we will closely be watching brie. thanks for that wrap up. well, later this week, former president trump will actually be here in the bay area. he is expected to headline a fundraising event on friday in woodside. it will be hosted by

the founder of siebel systems, tom siebel, and his wife. the stables are distantly related to governor gavin newsom's wife, jennifer siebel newsom. according to the l.a. times, tickets for the event are going for $500,000 per couple. in the meantime, governor newsom is in new york this week in support of vice president harris. the governor is headlining a big fundraising event for the democratic presidential nominee. he'll then follow harris to pennsylvania for the debate. he is now a leader of harris's national campaign committee. the same role he held with biden's campaign. developing right now in clear lake, firefighters have spent the night trying to get the upper hand on a fast moving wildfire, which has already destroyed at least 30 structures, many of them homes. the fire started yesterday afternoon east of highway 53, and it quickly burned close to 100 acres. the flames swept through one community along 18th street, destroying a string of homes and cars in its path. now,
5:08 am
initially, evacuation orders were in place for more than 4000 people and a temporary shelter opened at twin pine casino in middletown. some residents say they managed to escape the fire with little more than the clothes on their backs. the fires started all the way to there when i saw it to here. i think it's very close to 200ft. that is. i think it's time to go away. well, that man says based on the path of the flames, he feels sure he will have nothing to return to. now, fortunately, no injuries have been reported. it's not clear yet how this fire has started, and as of last night, the fire was 10% contained. now, meteorologist kari hall is tracking the conditions that firefighters on the fire lines are facing this morning. kari. it's so scary. and that makes you think you got to have your go bag ready to go, because of the very volatile conditions that we're seeing.
5:09 am
and we're starting out this morning. temperatures in the low 60s. we are seeing some fog and some decent humidity. we are going to also at times see the breezy winds picking up. and as we go through the next several hours, the temperatures quickly heat up there around clear lake. we'll see those highs this afternoon in the low 90s. and look at how low the humidity is. only at 17%. and with the gusty winds that could make any more of the fire conditions more erratic as we go throughout today. so we'll continue to monitor that. we are starting out cool around the bay area. temperatures in the low 50s in the north bay and low to mid 60s for parts of the south bay, but as we go into the afternoon, it is going to be warming up once again. last really warm day with a lot of 90s. before we get a bit of a break from this extreme heat. we'll talk more about this coming up. mike is a look at where we can find some lower gas prices. kari. over the weekend we've seen some prices come up, so the low isn't quite so low right now, starting in san jose,
5:10 am
where we're up about a dime over last week's low. it's 398 now, the one we find is that quick stop on south bascom avenue. nothing under four bucks in alameda county. it's 409 for the best we can do there. hayward has our stores on hesperian boulevard and the third number here is in marin county. it's hq fuels with their best of 419 at faras auto on sir francis drake boulevard in san anselmo. you can make and receive those reports gasbuddy.com. we depend on each other folks out on the roadways. we're doing just fine. we will talk about that south bay update, though we do have this crash, it is still blocking that transition. south 101 to east 237. no injuries confirmed there by chp, but we do have that transition blocked until they can pull that car from alongside the roadway. sounds like a tree was hit. again, no injuries there though. and that first slowing on 101 is starting to clear up. thank goodness. as you're heading north toward 101 toward oakland road. a little early for that. back to you. i was just thinking the same thing a little early. for a little early. i know on a monday

view. we're starting out with some clouds and temperatures in the upper 50s. it will be clearing out by 10:00, and we will have a very nice and mild day here headed for the upper 70s and low 80s. but we do have some cooler weather ahead. a look at that in our full microclimate forecast coming up. and a quick peek at the 580 commute coming through dublin westbound toward the interchange with these headlights here. a smooth feed coming out of the altamont pass. typical slowing through that area. we'll check out if you're heading over toward 580 as your avenue out of contra costa county. see how that drive times out coming up. well good morning. very happy monday to you. longshoremen on the east coast and the gulf coast still threatening to strike if they don't get a 77% raise. boeing aircraft reached a tentative deal with its mechanics over the weekend, avoiding a strike. wall street journal reporting elon musk wants tesla to give some of its profits to his ai company, called zae. zae would then

awkward. it's very awkward because central banks push so hard to be independent that when they all of a sudden look as if they are having effects on election outcomes, that reduces the level to which they can argue that they are independent. and finally, you know what happens when you give a mouse a cookie? what happens when you rub him with dye used in dorito? they become transparent. this is a page from a report from stanford published in the journal science. on the left, mice without the yellow dye number five on the right with the dye makes their skin transparent. you can see their insides. i will tell you. they published very explicit pictures of mice inside, big pictures in color. and i thought, that's not really what you want to see at breakfast time. so here's a picture of a cute mouse. the mice in the experiment are just fine. they just wash them off and they're not no longer transparent. and you say, how possibly could that work? i barely understand it, but the scientists say the yellow dye

changes the way that light scatters, and it makes the skin transparent. and you can see the. and then there's their skin is so thin. i would imagine. exactly right. exactly right to the point where what you get is something you can't show at 516 in the morning on a monday. i mean, legally you could. yeah. but you. yeah or at any point in the day, i thought you were going to show mickey mouse there. yeah, that was a cute mouse. yeah yeah. let's keep it cute this sunday morning. let's ease into the workweek. thanks, scott. well, let's ease into that workweek. a lot of people look very excited about tonight. let's take a live look at levi's. that is where the niners close out the nfl's kickoff weekend with a monday night football, a monday night game against the new york jets. the niners begin their quest to return to. and hopefully this time win the super bowl. but they're starting the season with a few uncertainties. well, for one thing, the team looked a little rough around the edges during the preseason. they played without two star
5:18 am
holdouts, brandon aiyuk and trent williams, who are both now back in the fold, but star running back christian mccaffrey is still questionable with a bad calf and achilles. now they're starting the season against. let's just say a familiar face. former cal bear aaron rodgers will lead the jets. now remember last year rodgers tore his achilles just a few plays into the first game of the season. now niners fans, don't forget nbc sports bay area will have pre and post game coverage of tonight's game. the pre game show starts at four. this afternoon saw a lot of people wearing the niners fan gear. already ready for the season i think that's right. well speaking of christian mccaffrey he is proof that positive nfl players don't just sit around during the off season, right. of course mccaffrey definitely kept busy starting with saying two words that changed his life forever. i do. he got married in june to model and entrepreneur olivia culpo. while the nfl

systems that could come in and really bring a significant drop in temperatures at least over the next week. and then on wednesday, there will be some showers to just our north. but then with all of these changes in our pressure systems, that's going to make the air move very quickly, increasing the wind and elevating our fire danger. so we have a lot we're watching here. it's still going to be hot today in livermore with temperatures starting out in the mid 60s already within two hours, those temperatures jump ten degrees and then another ten degrees at noon. so we're going to see it quickly heating up today as we head for the low 90s. for this afternoon, let's zoom into the south bay, where los gatos today will see a high of 88 degrees. it will be 91. in east san jose. and we're looking at some low 90s from antioch, concord, 91, in danville today headed for 90 degrees. while in oakland, we stay in the mid 70s. nice and comfortable there. expect mid 60s near the coast and in daly city, while in redwood city it will be in the upper 70s and low

80s for palo alto in downtown san francisco. 71 compare that to the 65 we'll see in the outer sunset, and 85 in novato and in ukiah. today, we're hitting a high of 96 degrees. so as we go into this evening, we've been talking about football. and yes, it's back with some great weather this evening in santa clara. so lucky you. if you're going, you have some nice weather and sunshine. we're once again looking forward to cooler temperatures by the end of the week. take a look at our 7-day forecast going from low 90s today to low 80s by wednesday and thursday, and the weekend may be just slightly warmer for some inland valleys. mike, is it looking a lot smoother now? it's pretty calm right now. we'll check the north bay, for example, where some of the early starts have hit the road for southbound 101, coming all the way down through here to san rafael out of novato. no delays shown past highway 37 all the way to the golden gate bridge. you can see it on our maps right here. we're talking about this stretch right there. but we do
5:23 am
have highway 37 itself with a little slowing at mare island, right on schedule there. typical highway four, no problems. and anywhere south of here you're at speed. back to you. thank you. mike. well, next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds. one family's warranty claim is locked in limbo and customer service has gone out. the window. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura, nbc bay area responds next. but first, our team we've been working to help clear the shelters. marcus and i were out on saturday at the adopt a thon with the berkeley humane bark around the block. not only cats and dogs and rats, everything was up for adoption. about 300 animals. it was so much fun out there. thanks to all of you who came out. as of our count on saturday night, more than 150 animals found their forever homes and the adoption actually runs through september 10th. help us clear the shelters. many of our shelters also need volunteers, so just scan that qr code or head to nbcbayarea.c

weather is going to be like for those niners and those jets playing football later today. yes. we're not worried about the jets, but we're have some great weather for our niners. warm temperatures and for people who are going to the game. we are going to have some hot temperatures no matter where you are. we're going to see in brentwood our morning start in the mid 60s but quickly headed for the mid 80s at noon. and then we'll see those highs topping out in the mid 90s for later today. and then as we take a look around the bay area, we are still seeing a lot of 90s from the south county to the tri-valley all the way up to the north bay, but we are still nice and mild for san francisco and near the coast. we'll talk about that forecast coming up. mike, you spotted some slower sensors. it was mystery slowing. so we don't like that. right. the reason for the red sensors for a couple of minutes. it's gone to orange now. must have been a crew clearing from the area because there is recovery right now. this is not reportedly caused due to any problems with the caldecott tunnel, but watch just west of there. highway four at the top of the screen shows

some slowing kicking in. so does highway 37 and watch. there's a crash around lakeville highway. sounds like there are no major injuries and it looks like traffic is flowing, but we'll track that important connector in toward novato, out of vallejo. as we look at the rest of the bay, we have slowing starting for san jose as well as 237 at 101. that crash still blocks the transition. back to you. thanks a lot, mike. well, first at 530, breaking news this morning in san jose. that is where police shot a gunman. they say opened fire outside a convenience store today in the bay's thom jensen is live at the scene and tom, police say the suspect has a life threatening injuries. and we may need to get back to tom there in just a moment when we fix his his audio. tom, can you hear me now? i just we just we just got our earpiece functioning again. good morning. yeah, we're in the 4200 block of center road. let us push in quickly. here you can
5:34 am
see that center as in center plaza here with an s. and this is where police are focusing their attention. still on the other side of the 7-eleven, where there's a mexican restaurant, we see a lot of police evidentiary tags there. we've seen a lot of detectives there. this morning, but this is also a residential neighborhood just a few blocks from valley christian schools. this is where police were first called at about 930 last night, when multiple sources called 911 reporting a man firing a gun at people outside a business. sapd says when officers arrived, they confronted the man who still had a gun, and an officer fired and hit the suspect. that man is being treated at a san jose hospital, but could still die from the gunshot wound or wounds. we're not sure how many times he was hit because this is an active investigation and sj pd has only released a bare bones information at this point. but they also told us that a shooting victim from this incident was dropped off at a hospital. what's not clear is if that victim was shot by the suspect. that's more detail that
5:35 am
we hope to get later on today. but like i said, this is still early this morning, still very early in this investigation. we'll have more information for you as soon as we get it. we're live in san jose. thom jensen today in the bay, and we'll check back in with you. thank you so much, tom. bay area law enforcement agencies are vowing to work together in response to a weekend of chaotic late night sideshows. in at least two cases. video posted on social media showed cars striking people during those sideshows. they all happened late saturday into sunday morning. one sideshow stopped traffic on the bay bridge in oakland. police are working to identify people attending a sideshow on hegenberger and edgewater. in that case, a driver veered into spectators. the chaos also included gunfire in some cases. oakland council member noel gayo says more must be done. at the end of the day, we do need to
5:36 am
enforce the laws that we have and because it's out of control and i have many people that are coming into oakland from outside of oakland, and we're allowing these individuals to get away with that. oakland police did not respond to our request for comment, but on social media, oakland police posted it's now collaborating with other departments, warning sideshow participants can have their cars towed and held for 30 days. developing right now north of the bay area firefighters in clear lake are trying to get control of a wildfire that destroyed multiple homes after erupting yesterday afternoon. now, as of last night, the boyles fire burned about 90 acres and was 10% contained. but it did wipe out some 30 structures, most of which are believed to be homes. no injuries have been reported and it's not yet clear how it started. happening today, apple holding its annual fall product event. company expected to unveil the new iphone 16. the

new models are expected to have faster chips and better cameras. apple is also expected to promote its new ai technology, called apple intelligence, as a main selling point. the big question how will apple hit the price points on the new models? coming up at 615. scott mcgrew will join us with more on today's expected announcement. well, here we've been talking about it. today is the day the niner faithful have certainly been long waiting for the red and gold hosting the new york jets for their home opener at levi's today in the bay's. kris sanchez joins us live with why we won't be cranking up that monday night football music. chris. i mean, we do love that song, but tailgating here at levi's stadium probably going to be a little more talking than rocking because the team has added some new rules that are really kind of hitting a sour note with fans. they say you can't music and things like that. like that's one of the best things, you know, that people look forward to when they
5:38 am
come to the game. so no amplified sound is one change for this season. another change is to the parking policy. fans will have to park as they arrive, not where they want to. so unless you arrive with your tailgate party, you might not be tailgating together. fans are already circulating a petition to change that, but the team says this change will make more parking available and will make things a little safer for fans and for staff. none of those changes, though, are going to dampen the experience for this mom who flew into town from miami to wear her son, tatum bethune jersey and watch him play his first professional game. i'm here to cheer on my son, tatum bethune. this is his first nfl game. monday night lights. all rookie wide receiver ricky pearsall will have to wait for his first nfl game, as he continues to recover from that shock wound to the chest during an attempted robbery. the good

news is that the arizona native is on track to play on october 6th, and coincidentally, they are playing arizona. the 17 year old charged with shooting pearsall is due in court tomorrow. we'll be covering that for you also. levi's stadium is expecting a capacity crowd and encouraging people to arrive as early as possible. the parking lots open at 145 this afternoon. stadium gates open at 315. as mike will tell you, public transportation is a very good bet. kickoff is coming up at 515. and in case you're wondering, the niners, they are favored to win tonight in santa clara, kris sanchez today in the bay especially by us here. yes for sure. we'll start the tailgating early. kris always more fun when you win. yeah. thanks so much. well, niners fans, don't forget nbc sports bay area will have pre and post game coverage of tonight's game. the pregame show starts at 4:00 this afternoon. all right. so whether you're going to the game or not if you're lucky enough, i guess for those tailgating, the
5:40 am
weather is going to cooperate. yes. it's going to be nice and sunny. a little warm. so make sure you're staying hydrated. and i'm talking about water here. yes, we are starting out with temperatures in the upper 70s around kickoff time. and it's going to also be a little warm. but the breezy wind i think, will help make it feel much more comfortable, and it will cool off quickly as we go into the evening into the low to mid 70s. by the end of the game, and then upper 60s. i don't think you'll really need a jacket though, and especially with all that excitement, it's going to be pretty warm in there. inside levi's stadium around the bay area, we're looking at highs in the low 90s, from concord to livermore to gilroy, a high of 80 degrees, and we'll see some low 70s in san francisco, much of the north bay in the mid to upper 80s. heading over to you, mike, you were talking about our monday night at levi's stadium. how to get there. kris was standing out there. we know where the stadium is on the maps right here. it's off tasman great america parkway. you see the signs over here about event happening tonight. 237 and 101. we'll show

that to you. local roadways. there's a couple that are closed already and there will be a lot of access. that's limited through the area. your best bet, as chris talked about, is mass transit, because the highways 237, highway 101 and 880 even will have some feeder routes getting to the area. let's list some of those transit options. capitol corridor will take you directly to the great america station. meanwhile, caltrans, they talk about trains going to levi's stadium. you do have to take vta to bridge that from either caltrain or from bart, that the orange or the green line is key right here to the great america station. keep those in mind and watch the timing very carefully after the game. caltrain has specific timing. you need to watch for as well. as we look at the rest of the bay, we're talking about the traffic flow and it's not that bad this morning. no major surprises. highway 24, though, is slow. still as you head from oakland in toward the bay bridge and the maze. back to you. all right. thanks so much, mike. an ev takeover ahead on today in the bay. that changes triple a is making as drivers change the way they get around. we are just one day away from the big
5:42 am
presidential debate. we'll talk about the strategy and the latest polls. plus of course everyone is excited about the 2024 2025 football season. but of course, a lot of folks are also excited about the food. i'm marcus washington stick around because we're going to take you inside the concessions showcase. and oh yes, we are

5:45 am
it's cool weather in fremont. we're in the upper 50s and low 60s for the next few hours, and then as we go throughout the day, feeling nice and comfortable until noon. we're in the low 70s, but it will be heating up for later today. now, i do think it will be cooler tomorrow, so we'll talk more about that in the full microclimate forecast coming up. and just as you predicted we're looking at the bay bridge backup. just starting to form as well. eastbound or westbound out of oakland. over in toward the city. no major surprises. there is still slowing, however, on highway 24th may be unexpected. no cause shown, but we'll check on those speeds coming up. thanks so much, mike. it's 5:45, right now. new polling data about the presidential election is out, and it doesn't tell us much. scott mcgrew the numbers in the new york times poll haven't changed. yeah. take a look. you'll see them right behind me here. this is a new national poll from the times. 48% support for trump. 47% support for harris. this is a
5:46 am
new poll, but these are the exact same numbers as they were in the same poll conducted right after harris announced she would replace biden on the ticket. also this is a tie because the results fall within the margin of error. you know, i'm not a huge fan of nationwide polls because that's not how we elect presidents with the nationwide poll. and if you're doing the math and thinking, hold on, we're missing 5% there, it's because there's a group that says they don't know who they're voting for. i don't know what it's going to take to get those 5% to make a decision, but tomorrow's debate may help. it's hosted by abc, but you can watch it right here on nbc. bay area as well. special coverage begins at 5 p.m. george w bush probably knows who he's voting for, but he's not going to say he's not joining some republicans in endorsing harris. he says he's not endorsing anyone. former president trump was in wisconsin over the weekend on social media. he said anybody involved with, quote, cheating and skullduggery would face long prison terms. he says that
5:47 am
includes election officials, lawyers, politicos and donors. many political analysts say the harris camp is trying to bring that kind of statement out from trump. you may recall the harris campaign wanted trump's microphone turned on during the whole debate just to catch trump's comments. here are the two candidates. the day before the debate. the main message to trump in the debate. what's the one thing you want to really get get across to him? well, there's a lot, but, look, it's time to turn the page on the divisiveness. it's time to bring our country together to chart a new way forward. if comrade kamala harris gets four more years, you will be living a full blown banana republic ruled by an anarchy and a tyranny. you're going to have something. and it's not her. it's the people that surround her. they're scum. they're scum. and they want to take down our country. they are absolute garbage. our nbc
5:48 am
reporters covering the trump campaign say many of his supporters and advisers are urging him to tone it down. here's former republican candidate for president, doug burgum, on meet the press. so very quickly, stay away from personal attacks, do you think, governor? well, i think that when he stays on the issues, policies, absolutely. those are those are the winning issues. because, again, whether it's crime, whether it's a border, whether it's israel, whether it's wars abroad, president trump has got not only the record of having served as president and accomplishing, you know, peace in the world and prosperity at home. but he's also got policies right now that make a ton of sense for every american. now the two sides have different strategies for tomorrow's debate in the prep side of it. trump says he's had a few meetings. harris's side apparently built a mock set, and harris has been debating someone acting as trump ginger, thanks a lot, scott. we're taking a live look now at your monday morning commute. new this morning more and more triple a members now

own electric vehicles, so the national auto club is now giving regular updates on how much it costs to charge up. pretty soon, triple a will have a map online similar to its gas map. for now, it's sending out updates on where you can charge up for less nationwide. now this week you will see states like delaware and texas as listed as part of the top ten least expensive states to charge an electric vehicle. while states like hawaii and new hampshire are the most expensive, nationwide charging can go as low as $0.22 per kilowatt hour up to $0.56 per kilowatt hour. that while gasoline prices are so volatile and they'll bob up and down every single day, electrical prices are remarkably stable. they will not budge for weeks at a time. as a matter of fact, i have not seen much of a change in any of the prices in any state in the past five weeks. triple a says about 2 million of its members now live in a home that has at least one electric
5:50 am
vehicle. now there's no date yet for when triple a will unveil its new electricity price map online, but for now, it will send out weekly updates in its fuel report. 549 right now. oh 49 well, tonight, as the fans gear up to fill up levi's stadium, they can also expect a lot of new additions off the field. here's today in the bay's marcus washington with a taste of what you can expect. okay, i know you all have everything covered when it comes to the game, but i want to take it a step further. i want to take it to the part that everyone loves the food. yes, right now we are in the concessions showcase for you this year. probably the best assignment, i think, out there right now. and joining me to talk about all the new food that we have this year is chef alvin, chef. thank you so much for being with us. so let's talk about it because when you think about what you want, when you go to a game, you have your classics, but you also have sushi. you also have i mean, you have your classic wings, the sandwiches, i mean, whatever you can think about, you pretty much
5:51 am
have it this year. yes, we do, we do. we were in the gamut of, what? you know, you can get anywhere, basically, because truly, this is what it is. you can get this not only at the stadium, but you can go out on a any given day and you can enjoy b-boy berkeley's, cheesesteak sandwiches. scratches chicken, their spicy chicken. toto's their pizza, but they have a great cannoli. but that's the thing about it. because what you all are doing, not only are you bringing the great food here at the stadium, if people enjoy it, of course what they will, you can actually go out and have it because a lot of local businesses are actually partnering with you all this year. they are truly partners because we can't do it without them. so many people i'm sure want to get in here, but they can't. so how do you create the best options for everyone, it's always a balance. so, you know, there's always great chicken out there, but we can't have 20 great chickens, we got to mix it up. we got to have some great chicken, some great pizza, burgers, of course. maybe not just a burger, maybe a pastrami burger. barca rodney baca or a great cheesesteak sandwiches.
5:52 am
and, you know, in this case, they have great wings also. okay, i think i want to try this one because that's the thing. it's all about the taste. you can hold this for me. that was that. the peppers, the onions. the bread is warm and soft, which is so important. a plus. there you go. thank you, chef alvin. the thing about it is it is a great spread for everybody. pretty much something for everybody who wants it. so this is a place to be if you come to the game come empty in your stomach right. yes. but you know, you're here for like six hours on a game. so keep going to the stands. all right? all right. thank you so much for giving us a taste test of all this. i've got more to eat, so i'm going to send it back to you all. i will come with a full report when i see you all. when i get back the thing is, see, he's not here. he just kept
5:53 am
eating and eating. i was like, marcus, where are the vegan options? he'll eat those too. okay, what a selection out there. i mean, it's a long cry from just the cheesy nachos you used to get, right? yeah, although i'm sure those are goo, too. yeah, they're all right. here we are. football season and right here in our own backyard. yes. so we're prepping the food ourselves for our little at home party for this evening. and we're starting out with nice, cool temperatures. it won't feel like this later on today, but really it depends on your microclimate. so right now in walnut creek, it's 62. it's 53 in san francisco, and it's 55 in palo alto. and a live look in dublin this morning where it's still going to be warm this afternoon. but at least it's comfortable for now. and at 6:00 will be in the low 60s. and then at 8:00 mid 60s here we're headed for the mid to upper 80s for today, 86 will be the high and in san jose 82 degrees. while you head to palo alto it will be 80 degrees for this afternoon and reaching into the
5:54 am
mid 80s for much of the north bay. not as hot as it was over the weekend, and we continue to cool off over the next few days. in fact, by tomorrow there will be a lot of spots dropping about ten degrees. so in gilroy instead of low 90s, it will be in the low 80s. and we're seeing a lot of 80s across the inland east bay, but mostly 70s from santa rosa to hayward, a high of 73 and 77, in palo alto. let's take it to wednesday, because looking just as nice and the middle of the week into the end of the week is looking fairly mild, but we will eventually start to warm up once again. but we're watching a change in the weather patterns with a couple of low pressure systems rolling into the pacific northwest, the next one coming in by the end of the weekend may dip a lot lower, which could possibly bring some rain closer to the bay area. don't think it will rain here, but we will see the changes in the pattern and some gusty winds. looking at our 7-day forecast for the inland areas today, the hottest day of the
5:55 am
week, now we will be slightly warmer for the weekend, but today once again the hottest one and we're looking at san francisco's temperatures in the upper 60s low 70s pretty nice and mild there. mike, you're updating that crash in sunnyval. we've been tracking this since just about 5:00 in the morning. we're looking at southbound 101 out of mountain view toward eastbound 237 in sunnyvale. so this connection right here, that connector is still blocked. according to chp report by an earlier crash. if you have to pass by, if there's closure there, you can use matilda to connect you over. it's a short surface street run there and folks know about it. well that's just south of moffett field. you see no major issues. other than that. we have typical slowing north 101 showing up as you're approaching 280 and then continuing up to oakland road. another slowdown, a little bit early for that to head north of sjc and so that may be a factor with a little more volume of traffic. nothing major coming out of the south bay and south county as far as we're showing. we just have your typical slowing in san martin highway 4 shows slowing pittsburg bay
5:56 am
point into concord, pleasant hill down toward the walnut creek interchange just fine. still, early slowing showed up on highway 24 right here, and that continues. no work on the grid, no problems on the reports either. so we're just tracking a gradual build there as well as upper eastshore freeway westbound 80 pinole in toward richmond and heading down past golden gate fields. the backup at the toll plaza we see is forming now in our shot for the camera visible there. highway 37. there was an earlier crash at lakeville highway. looks like that has also cleared. timing it out. let's get out of your way and show you vasco road. we're approaching a half hour mark. more volume out of alameda county and down toward out of contra costa county, down toward 580. back to you. early slowing means get out the door. thanks, mike. happening now. a heads up for drivers in palo alto starting today, parking will be banned on el camino real. between sand hill road and san antonio avenue. caltrans will be grinding and paving the road in both directions now. there will also be temporary lane closures along the route. the parking ban will be in place every night this week, and it starts at nine
