6:05 am
talk about his policies and the results of those policies. those backing harris warn of the dangers of a second trump presidency and say her policies will move the country forward. i do believe kamala harris is going to prevail on that. but we must. we can't forget that trump has an appeal in pennsylvania, and we need to make sure we show up everywhere. the race remains tight. voters in critical battleground states are keeping a close eye on tonight's debate. i tell them not to talk too much. stay on point. and what he needs to do in this election, just for her to be her and for her to be honest and tell us what she's going to do for this country. harris and trump, meeting in person for the first time today for a high stakes, 90 minute showdown. and police are bracing for protests in philadelphia today, with pro-palestinian groups angry with harris's continued support of israel planning to demonstrate. marcus. all right.

have a closer look at the night in our next half hour, and we'll also have game highlights a little later in this newscast. now, as for the teenager accused of shooting pearsall. he's due back in juvenile court later today. his appearance is scheduled for 130 this afternoon. well ahead of the niners game and closing out a busy sports weekend. a big hit for one south bay spot where lots of regulars gather. thieves yesterday targeted the office bar in san jose's willow glen in an early morning break-in. surveillance video captured the pair just before 4 a.m. one of the suspects could actually be seen wearing a security shirt. the owner of the office says not only did they get away with a safe and hundreds of dollars, but they caused some $20,000 in damage violated. honestly, i feel like someone ransacked my house. this is my business. you know, it's my livelihood. the thieves have not been found. san jose police are asking anyone with information to contact the.

6:11 am
a northeasterly turn come into the acadiana area at about as a category two. as we head toward late tomorrow evening. so we'll be watching that. it may be a big impact storm for parts of the gulf coast. here at home, we're looking at quiet weather, another storm system moving into the pacific northwest that will bring the bay area some cooling relief from the valley heat. we'll have a closer look at that and what that means for us coming up in a few minutes might get you out the door with a look at where you can find some lower gas prices and the ones that we passed the stations. i pass on my way to the freeway in the morning. they've all kind of come up a bit here in the last few days. higher lows as i look around. for example, cupertino's best price is now $3.99 at aria gas and market on stevens creek boulevard. same best price there in contra costa county. just a single report of 3.99 at clayton gas and wash. in concord on clayton road and in solano county for vallejo. it's 4.08. that's the best we could find. quick stop on springs road. you

starts out cloudy with upper 50s. you do need a jacket for the morning, but later on today it's going to be very comfortable as we get more sunshine and we're staying in the 70s for a high today. this
6:16 am
will be the coolest day before we get a gradual warm up. we'll talk about that and what's ahead coming up in a few minutes. and right now we're looking at the live traffic flow of the nimitz through oakland. those headlights heading south just fine here at the coliseum. more slowing as you head past the san mateo bridge. and a persistent problem over in sunol. we'll track that jam for 680 as well. well good morning. very happy tuesday to you. an update on the market monday maybe not a lot of movement today as we wait for tomorrow's inflation data. chargepoint confirmed what we had reported earlier. it's laying off more staff. they do those electric car chargers at malls and parking lots. apple showed off the new iphone 16 at its fall event in cupertino. better camera, of course. new colors, more ai built into the phone itself. for instance, you can point the camera at a restaurant and it will tell you how to make reservations. this is the big trend happening here in the tech industry. everyone is adding ai features, generative ai features to their

software, from microsoft to google. and now apple. and they're integrating it right into the operating system level. now, a financial advisor who contributes to on cnbc tweeted, apple just keeps making the same products over and over and thinking customers will keep buying them. then it adds, sent from my new iphone pro 16 pro max. some trivia for you. we're on 16 now, but there was never a two or an iphone nine. there was weirdly enough, an iphone 13. meantime, the highest court in the eu has ruled against apple and says apple must pay more than 14 billion. that's billion with a b in back taxes. apple in ireland had worked out a deal to lower apple's taxes, but the european court said that wasn't the correct way of going about it. apple points out this is not a case of whether it paid its taxes. it's a question of where it paid its taxes. one admission and now both balkan socal laird

copy one alpha polaris dawn. now in orbit after its successful launch earlier this morning, carrying four astronauts. one is a billionaire. he's paying for it into a very high orbit, the farthest away from earth humans have been since we went to the moon. later this week, two of those astronauts will conduct a spacewalk, which is the first time private citizens have ever attempted such a thing. they're testing spacex's new spacesuits. but because there's no airlock on the spaceship, the door's just going to be open, meaning all four spacesuits really need to work perfectly. and the prime minister of australia tells tv stations there he's going to introduce a bill that would raise the minimum age to use social media without parents permission to as high as 16. social media in the u.s, like instagram, sets a policy of no kids under 13. in order to adhere to the american children's online privacy act. but there's no specific law. we were talking earlier about, you
6:19 am
know, where where is that line? your kids are good kids, but i will tell you, there are often situations when if you raise the age, the kids are on their own completely without the parents knowing. completely. yes. and so if you make something illegal that kids are going to do, they're going to want it. you're just not going to know they're doing it. and it is hard because you know, their friends have it. they my kids aren't on social media at all. and it is tough because it's that, you know, are they uncool because of it? but still and they're oftentimes more tech savvy than the parents. oftentimes which i often encourage. figure it out. these are your kids, right? or make them you have to get approval. they have to get approval for any app. yeah, yeah. smart, smart and controlling i guess. right. i'm a mom. they can talk to their kids. fine. thank you. 619 for you right now. and here's a first look this morning at what's adding up to be one big bet. this is on high speed rail service. the company spearheading the la to vegas high speed rail system is showing off the what it will look like inside there for just
6:20 am
two hours. that that commute from la to vegas. brightline west released a series of renderings for the trains and the rail system. it's actually expected to be up and running before the start of the 2028 summer olympic games. over in l, new york senator chuck schumer announcing yesterday that those trains will be manufactured in a new factory in upstate new york. meanwhile, all aboard niners fans, the new season is officially underway. oh, did you see? it started with an emphatic win last night at levi's. the niners hosting aaron rodgers and the new york jets. and let's just say for rodgers this was one homecoming to forget. the niners defense stifled the jets and some of the fairweather faithful may have learned a new name. jordan mason. mason stepped in for an injured christian mccaffrey and took charge of the running game. he gained 147 yards as the niners won it 32 to 19. mccaffrey at this point still questionable for next sunday. that's when the niners take on their old friend
6:21 am
sam darnold in minnesota against the vikings a good way to start the season yeah yeah yeah a lot of red out there nation. not so much in my weather maps now thank goodness it's going to be cooler today. we're going to feel some of those temperatures drop about ten degrees across the bay area. we're starting out in the mid 50s for san francisco. low 60s for much of the rest of the bay area. the wind starting to pick up in some spots. it's going to be breezy. we'll talk about that in just a bit. let's get a look at our highs for today. santa rosa headed for 77 degrees 73 in hayward and in palo alto 75 degrees. we're still in the upper 80s for clear lake and ukiah. watching the warm temperatures there. but even fairfield will have a cool down with some gusty winds. some of those delta breezes picking up. but we are also going to see it go up a couple of degrees for tomorrow. so we're still enjoying some mild weather for the most part. very normal for
6:22 am
this time of year and then going up a few more degrees on thursday with some upper 80s for the inland east bay. so we do have this storm system moving across the pacific northwest, strengthening our ocean breeze. but another low dipping in by the end of the weekend into early next week may bring some rain very close to the bay area, at least for the north bay. let's talk about the winds. with the transition from high to low pressure, the wind will really begin to pick up as we go into this evening, and as we go into tomorrow, it gets even stronger for the coastal areas. 30 35 mile per hour winds late tomorrow afternoon into the evening. and then that also picks up for a lot of our inland valleys and some of our hills will have some really high wind gusts. unfortunately, that will also raise the risk of any fires that do start could spread very quickly and slightly warmer temperatures by the end of the week. by the weekend into early next week, those temperatures come down once again and we'll be watching monday for that dip
6:23 am
and that little taste of fall that we'll see in parts of the bay area. mike, now you're seeing more congestion in the east bay. there we go. that tuesday traffic really kicked in here crossing over from richmond. you see it on the sensors across the span to the north bay. same thing for the bay bridge. there may be a fender bender around the metering lights. i'll double check once chp gets more info. but you see the build for the eastshore freeway and look at this over here. 242 shows the sensor slows. now moving down toward walnut creek for another burst of traffic. build we continue to clear cars from southbound six 8884. very slow now. pleasanton in toward highway 84. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. 622 right now, a new tool to help beat back the impact from our climate in crisis. up next, technology taking a big step forward when it comes to potentially deadly extreme heat. how artificial intelligence is helping target communities in need. a lot more news ahead. 623 you're watching today in the bay

(♪♪) climate in crisis. extreme heat is the biggest cause of weather related deaths of people around the world, killing nearly half a million every year. and as our climate warms, that number is rising. but a new heat mapping tool from google is using artificial intelligence or ai to help communities prepare for and mitigate the effects of extreme heat so they can prioritize using this tool what strategies
6:27 am
they can implement in the most, vulnerable parts of the city. and this quantifiable data allows them to advocate for more funding and investment, advocate for policy decisions, and prioritize regions. so we are piloting this in 14 cities. we are learning from our pilot cities, and our hope is eventually thousands of cities can use this type of tool to take action on extreme heat. this is a pilot program which will help city leaders plan where to plant trees, change building infrastructure, open cooling centers and will send alerts to residents in affected areas. the hope is that google heat resilience tools will be available across the world as temperatures continue to rise, helping people survive heat waves. for more about this and how climate change is affecting the bay area, go to nbcbayarea.com and look for our climate in crisis page. thanks so much, kerry. well, we've got a lot more ahead for you at 630,

with the new recognition for two frontline workers who helped save the life of niners rookie ricky pearsall, and we've been talking about it for what, ages now? but today is the day. tonight's the debate. people are already seeing it. they're very proud of the work that we're already doing. hundreds of south bay businesses are now working together to attract more customers. we're going to break down how they're maximizing their power to move the bay area forward. this is today in the bay and this is tuesday morning. good morning to you. i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. a lot to get to this morning. finally, we're going to feel a little bit of a cool down excited for these temperatures. kari. yeah. it's been nice to be able to think about not having to crank up the ac. and we'll be able to do that today, especially for the inland valleys that have had some really hot temperatures lately. let's take a live look outside in san jose. you can see the
6:32 am
morning clouds. that's our marine layer that slides in through the morning and then rolls back out along the coastline as we go throughout the day. and so that will give us some cooler temperatures as it stays over the south bay a little bit longer throughout the morning. and a gradual warming trend in the forecast as we head for mid 70s today. notice the temperature in your microclimate that may be about ten degrees lower than yesterday. and we're going to see this for a few days before we get a slight warm up. so we'll talk about all the changes ahead. and one thing i'm watching here in this forecast that's coming up in just a few minutes. all right. we'll check back with you. well new overnight firefighters say an electrical problem sparked a late night fire in a san francisco high-rise. it started a little before 11 p.m. on the ninth floor of a 13 story apartment building in parkmerced. firefighters say the damage is limited mostly to one unit, and the flames never spread to neighboring floors. no one was injured, and one tenant is now displaced. well remember,
6:33 am
it is a marathon, not a sprint. but niners fans this morning waking up feeling pretty good after the team handled its business last night, even without one of their star players. yeah, and that's just the start of all the electricity shaking up levi's to kick off the nfl season today in the bay's ginger conejero saab live for us in san francisco. and ginger, the faithful. they were also on their feet last night. for two women who are real heroes. that is correct. good morning marcus and laura. during the first quarter of the game last night, there were some touching moments exchanged between san francisco 49ers rookie ricky pearsall and two women who helped save his life. this just happening over a week after the attempted robbery and shooting near union square that involved pearsall. now take a look at these tight hugs and warm embraces. they say it all. ricky pearsall showing his gratitude to sfpd sergeant joelle harrell, one of the first
6:34 am
people to respond to that shooting, and doctor lucy kornblith, a surgeon at zuckerberg san francisco general who helped pearsall recover from his gunshot wound to the chest. pearsall gave both women jerseys with his name and number on it as pearsall and the crowd honored their heroic efforts. now after the attempted robbery and shooting, pearsall was put on the football injury list. but last night he was out on the field giving his team support, showing fans some love and the fans gave it right back. it's a blessing and it's really good to see him. it's good to see them and know that he's in good spirits and he really wants to get out there, and i'm glad that the coaches are taking, you know, precautions. and just to make sure that he's mentally and physically healed. the niners go on to beat aaron rodgers and the jets 32 to 19, with big plays from former undrafted free agent jordan mason, who ran 147 yards and a touchdown in place of
6:35 am
christian mccaffrey, who is injured now. 28 carries from mason were the most for any niners player in a regular season game in 13 years. deebo samuel added a two yard touchdown run and jake moody kicked six field goals to help get the niners the win. meanwhile, the 17 year old suspect in attempted robbery and the attempted also facing an attempted murder charge there in the shooting involving ricky pearsall. he is expected back in court later this afternoon. as far as the team is concerned. the team goes on with the rest of the season. they face the minnesota vikings on sunday hoping to keep this winning streak going. if it's not a streak just yet, but adding another one in san francisco, ginger conejero saab today in the bay. we are on a roll. come on, ginger. we're on a roll. all right, here we go. keep it going. go, niners. thank you. all right. well, you know, today is the day kamala harris and donald trump facing off in their first presidential debate tonight in philadelphia. i've
6:36 am
been waiting a long time for this, scott. maybe their only debate. who knows? i mean, there are negotiations for more debates, but we're going to have to see. remember, a long time trump indicated he wasn't going to show up for this one. now, we do fully expect him to be there tonight. you're going to hear a lot of pundits talking about what's going to happen. and there are a million newspaper articles this morning with things like the five things kamala harris must do to win. but the truth is, nobody knows what's going to happen, not even kamala harris. and donald trump. and technically, there is no winner of a presidential debate because there's no score. you don't win a debate, but boy, you can sure lose one. nixon lost his debate to kennedy. barack obama lost to mitt romney. and of course, there's the granddaddy of them all biden losing not just the debate, but his candidacy. president biden had prepped for days ahead of time at camp david, but mortified democrats with his poor performance. so he'll be watching it on tv, just like you
6:37 am
and me. the president is going to watch the debate. he's looking forward to watching the debate, as i'm not going to preview or confirm any conversations between the president and the vice president. as you know, they speak often. the president is incredibly proud of the vice president. i just don't have anything to share beyond that. but he will be watching. we'll be watching in new york. now, one thing you can safely expect, harris, the experienced prosecutor cross-examining trump, the convicted felon. this is an area where she is very comfortable. the debate hosted by abc. but you can watch it right here on nbc. bay area our special coverage starts at 5:00 this evening. not a lot of campaigning to tell you about. tim walz was the only guy out on the road really speaking to voters in reno. we expect him to debate jd vance in october. other news, high ranking republicans are repeating a rumor that immigrants in ohio are stealing people's pets in order to eat them. there is no evidence of this, but take a look at this tweet. this is from
6:38 am
the leadership of the senate judiciary committee. there is no more important or storied or august committee in the united states and its publishing, clearly. i faked pictures reinforcing the idea that foreigners are eating cats. there is a very big haitian community in ohio, particularly in the town of springfield. they are here legally, as the u.s. has given those immigrants time to stay under the federal humanitarian program for migrants. springfield police say the claims about the pets is just not true. our colleague david ingraham tracked down the source of the claim. turns out it comes from a facebook post that said, quote, my neighbor informed me that her daughter's friend had lost her cat. laura. wow. how things can change. thanks so much. well, developing right now in southern californi, firefighters battling an out-of-control fire that's believed to have started by crews doing fire prevention work. it exploded in size yesterday afternoon near rancho santa margarita in orange count.
6:39 am
and by last night, it burned close to 5500 acres. several neighborhoods are under evacuation orders. fortunately, at this point, cal fire does say the flames are burning in the general direction away from homes. that's always a good thing. meteorologist kari hall, of course. been tracking the conditions down there. we know they've been dealing with heat. extreme heat? yes. and we were talking about recently. it hit 119 degrees near la. and now we have the vegetation is dry as it can get. and these fires that are burning, putting up a lot of plumes of smoke. take a look at our near surface smoke models. we have three really big fires burning in southern california from the lion fire. the bridge fire, and then that airport fire. and a lot of the smoke is moving farther south and then off towards the east. but we are going to see some breezy winds picking up here over the next several days. and we'll continue to monitor those conditions as we get more of the critically dry air coming in. but we're also seeing a change in the
6:40 am
weather pattern. so the extreme heat is easing up. we have a couple of low pressure systems coming in, and possibly by next week we could get a little taste of fall. that could bring some rain very close to the bay area. and we'll be watching out for that for early next week. so i'll have more on those details and what to expect in just a few minutes. mike, you have another crash in the tri valley. another one? yes, almost exactly the same spot as the first two southbound. 680 at highway 84. there may be an injury associated with this one. so watching carefully, we may have a one lane still blocked. and that's a look at that big backup out of pleasanton all the way past stoneridge and bernal, down to highway 84. more folks feeding in off of highway 84. instead of taking that longer drive, they may be hearing about it, trying to cut past that crash. and that's adding to the congestion here. an earlier crash south 880 at tennyson, causing more slowing. i believe that's cleared from lanes. there's another one near auto mall parkway. complicating that drive for the nimitz south in through fremont, then northbound 101 as we see the south bay
6:41 am
build happen. we do have a crash north 101 at oakland road, focusing more traffic north of 280. some folks may take 280 blending in with this 87 traffic. look at this build highway 85 here. traffic tuesday kicking in for the south bay as well. the east bay. we did have a typical pattern and typical for a tuesday. more slowing starts. 242 down through walnut creek. the interchange likely sees more traffic 680 south and 24 toward. the caldecott moves smoothly, but they're getting more company, and a crash just past the toll plaza is over on the shoulder for westbound 80. the backup is, of course, at the bay bridge toll plaza. remember, looking ahead, we talk about a game tonight at oracle park, so there will be more crowds at that king street extension back to you. you know, mike, i'm always just amazed how well you do with that. you just tell us where to go, how to go. thank you man. thank you marcus. imagine being in the car with him. i get lost all the time. well, with the presidential debate hours away, you can be sure the late night tv show is just waiting for some great new material. and that includes nbc's very own seth meyers. up
6:42 am
next, we're going to ask him live about it one on one. a special live interview, and san jose is about to create a new business improvement district, allowing 500 businesses to pitch in to make their community more inviting. i'll show you how they'll turn $25 into lots of

hold on... this trip got me alaska gold 75k status?? looks like i leveled up somewhere between san francisco and new york. i knew you earned miles faster than other airlines but like...okay, this is next level. i wonder if they'll take my photo. and put it in every seatback. on every airplane. i really hope fame doesn't change me.

i came to bayview hunter's point, where there was only one pediatrician to serve more than 10,000 children. daniel lurie said, i'm going to help. we opened a clinic for our most vulnerable children. i have worked shoulder to shoulder with him as we have brought solutions where people thought the problem was unsolvable. daniel doesn't take excuses. he holds himself accountable. and i know that he can do it for the city of san francisco.

now it is the much anticipated presidential debate, and with so much at stake, everyone certainly will be watching a lot of us to hear more about the issues. but for some of us, though, it may be more about some of the punch lines. take nbc's very own seth meyers. he's taking time out this morning to join us live on today in the bay. first of all, seth, thanks so much for joining us. so you're hosting this hour long special tomorrow night, based basically on this big debate that so many of us have been waiting for. tell us, what can we expect? well, i guess first you got to watch the debate. and then, based on that, we you can expect that we will have our take on things. it's very exciting to do a live show based on an event that is not happened yet, because for a procrastinator like me, there's no way to start working on it yet. but we're very excited to watch it like everybody else. and no, i really am. i mean, i think a lot of people we've been waiting for this. what do you
6:46 am
think is going to happen? what are you expecting from tonight's debate, i have learned if i've learned anything from 2016 on, it is to expect the unexpected. i would imagine we will probably see more energy from vice president harris than we saw from president biden in the last debate. but other than that, i don't have much that i can guess at. yeah. no kidding. and i guess it'll be really interesting to see how it all plays out. i know that vice president harris has been kind of not in lockdown, so to speak, but has been practicing for the debate. it will be so different compared to the trump biden debate. no doubt. well, look, i mean, one of the thrilling, very different things about this election cycle is how late in the game one of the candidates became the nominee. and i think people have, you know, a lot of curiosity as to what the difference is between these two candidates and also a lot of excitement that it is not just a replay of two years ago. so i
6:47 am
would imagine this is going to be a highly watched evening. and hopefully there's going to be plenty for us to bounce off 24 hours after. oh no kidding. i mean, i mean, just this election cycle right here. i think for someone like you, for a comedian, i mean, this is just ripe with with so much potential for you guys to do what you do. yeah. you know, i worked at snl for 12 years, and it was always so exciting to write debate sketches. i think for the american public, it's so exciting to see two candidates on stage together. you really get to take stock of them when they're in the same room. and there were debates over the years that they were a little dry and it was hard to find comedy. i am not expecting that will be the case this week. yeah, no doubt it's going to be a great show. i can anticipate that already. seth meyers, thanks for joining us. it is a closer look with seth meyers prime time live election special. you can see it tomorrow night, 10:00, right here on nbc bay area. it will also stream the next day on peacock. make sure to check it out that we

will. all right. 647 for you this morning moving the bay area forward on the new push to bring new business to one part of the south bay as soon as today, san jose leaders may approve a new improvement project that event, even before it's created, some of those businesses are really trying to make a difference in their community. today, in the bay's kris sanchez is here to explain how a $25 a month investment may lead to a huge payoff. kris. well, mark, as you probably heard, your mom say, little by little, little becomes a lot. some east bay businesses are banking on the fact that a $25 a month contribution by more than 500 businesses could create a lot of opportunity for change in their community to make that happen, the city council will take the first step toward creating the tully road east ridge business improvement district. it encompasses more than 500 businesses along tully road between east capitol expressway and highway 101, and that includes businesses on quimby road and east ridge mall
6:49 am
as well. many of the businesses have already been collaborating. they've been working together to make the area better. they secured a $50,000 city grant toward maintaining landscaping. they're removing trash and graffiti in order to make the area feel safer and more inviting. with the formal creation of this improvement district, they would also get the authority to create a fund each business pays into, and then they can pay for services from that fund for anything from safety to beautification to marketing, whatever they feel their community specific needs are. we broke it down to like something like $25 a month for certain businesses. so it wouldn't be breaking the bank, but it would also be improving the area. it's a very flexible vehicle for property owners, small business owners to basically get self-organized and pool their resources to make strategic investments. so the city council is expected to move forward with the tully road east
6:50 am
ridge business improvement district. the next step is setting a public meeting for october first, and then a public hearing for november fifth, in order to hash out the fee collection for those 500 plus businesses. san jose does have several other improvement districts, and the mayor points to the success of one downtown. he told me that investments there to make the area cleaner and safer have increased foot traffic on nights and weekends to 120% of pre-pandemic levels. so that's good news. yeah, that's a big difference. yeah. all right. thanks chris. all right. 649 for you this morning. and it's time to get a look at what we can expect from that forecast today, saying it's going to be a good one. yes. and it's going to be cooler for the valleys that have been dealing with some sweltering heat here recently. and as we take a live look outside in dublin, usually this is our shot that shows a bright, colorful sunrise. well, today there's clouds and the clouds will linger for several hours, but also keep those temperatures lower. so this is
6:51 am
what we can expect on those cooler days when we don't start out with a lot of sunshine. let's head to hayward with a look at what to expect. a lot of the temperatures here staying in the 60s, and as we head toward noon, there will be a little bit more sunshine, but it won't be all clear and sunny today. and we're going to see highs in the mid 70s for dublin, upper 70s for concord. notice that we don't have any extreme heat with the exception of farther to the north, with ukiah and clear lake in the upper 80s. elsewhere, it's about at least ten degrees cooler, but there will be a slight creep in those temperatures upward tomorrow. so even though it's still fairly comfortable, it will be a touch warmer in the afternoons for parts of the east bay. fairfield in the upper 80s, while in morgan hill we'll see a high of 81 and 77 tomorrow in palo alto. then on thursday up another couple of degrees. you can see the trend here. so today is the coolest day. we go up a few degrees each day through
6:52 am
thursday into friday, but then it will come back down for the weekend. looking at our wind, this is going to be the other issue that we'll have the concerns about that may increase our fire danger. now, today it's breezy and we see those winds at about 15 to 25mph. but tomorrow it's downright windy, especially near the coast, as some of those gusts pick up to 30, possibly 40mph. and those upper elevations in the hills and through the delta will have those highest wind gusts that will be increasing for tomorrow evening. so watching out for that and the increased fire danger as temperatures come up a few degrees into the upper 80s for napa. looking ahead to the weekend, it starts to cool off a little bit and then check out monday upper 60s in the forecast. that one day where we get a nice little taste of fall, but we'll also be watching out for some rain very close to the bay area. so in the meantime, it's going to be in the low 80s today and mid 80s for the end of the week. while san francisco today will reach a high of 66. more clouds, mist and drizzle
6:53 am
and then a little bit more sunshine tomorrow with highs in the low 70s. now, mike, you have a few significant crashes going on. more than just one here. this is south 880 with a five vehicles reported possibly involved that have to be cleared to the shoulder. no major injuries for any of these crashes. this is a major backup that has started the south of the dumbarton bridge for 880, right around auto mall parkway. critical part of that commute coming down through the fremont area. coming into the fremont area, we have southbound 680, the third of three crashes. we have looks like speeds may be improving a little bit, but we've heard of no clearing southbound 680 at 84. there may still be a lane blocked by activity. there may be an injury. again, nothing major. we're concerned for all involved there. then in the south bay, we're looking at northbound 101 with its crash at oakland road. 101 jams up to 80 pushes over toward 87 and 85 feeds in as well. back to you. thank you so much mike. it is 653 right now and happening now. new upgrades are coming to bay area airports. senator alex padilla says the
