i'm frances rivera. we begin with a final sprint in the race for the white house. the harris campaign said it took in $47 million in the 24 hours after the showdown with donald trump tuesday. nbc news cannot confirm those numbers, but we do know vice president harris is calling for another debate. the former president trump is saying no. brie jackson joins us now. why is mr. trump rejecting a possible rematch? >> reporter: good morning, frances. former president trump did hold his first post-debate rally in arizona, where he announced that he wants to end all taxes on overtime pay, and he also confirmed that he will not debate harris again. mr. trump says he won the debate and also says that because early voting has begun, it's too late. vice president harris, she held two large rallies in north carolina, where she pushed for another showdown. but mr. trump says it's time to move on. >> i think we really want to focus on running the country.

pennsylvania. >> brie jackson, thank you. new fallout and fears about violence after donald trump pushed a baseless conspiracy theory about haitian immigrants at tuesday's debate. several building in springfield, ohio were forced to evacuate over a bomb threat. that includes city hall and an elementary school. officials say they are working with the fbi to investigate. it's not clear who made the threat or whether it was connected to trump's unsubstantiated claims. some residents have been so concerned with attention that they've kept their children home interest school. white house press secretary karin karine je karine jean-pierre called it a bizarre attack. "the associated press" cited two people familiar with the matter, and they say it's not clear when charges will be announced or who will be charged

in iran. the doj has warned against trying to influence the election. russia has lodged a counter offensive in the kursk border region hoping to dislodge ukraine from the areas they captured more than a month ago. ten towns and villages have her been retaken by russian forces. for the latest, let's go to claudio lavanga, who's following the story. what's the reaction from the ukrainian side? >> reporter: good morning, frances. the president of ukraine, zelenskyy, has acknowledged that russia has now launched a counter offensive in the kursk region. but despite that, he says everything is going according to the ukrainian plan. weigh don't know how long troops can hold their positions inside

russia, because it's unclear whether this is the beginning of another major counter offensive by the russians or they're just probing the ground ahead of a bigger operation in the future. what could really change that as well as the course of the rest of the war is whether nato and western allies will finally allow ukraine will use western long-range missiles and weapons to hit targets inside russia as president zelenskyy has been demanding. now this is probably going to be a topic of discussion when president biden meets the new prime minister of britain, keir starmer at the white house today. and now britain has already made clear that they want ukraine to use british long-range missiles inside russia, while biden has been, so far, very wary of the possibility of nato allies doing that, even though it seems like that he may be changing his mind and may clear the way, soon, for that. while, in the meantime, the minister of defense in russia

adversary. >> reporter: in june, after investigating tiktok over privacy, the federal trade commission referred their complaint to the justice department. in response, a tiktok spokesperson telling cnbc in part, we've been working with the ftc for more than a year to address its concerns. we're disappointed the agency is pursuing litigation instead of continuing to work with us on a reasonable solution. in april 2024, president biden signed a law that includes a fast-approaching nine-month deadline for tiktok to be sold to a u.s.-approved only or face a widely-contested ban. >> every bit of my lively hood is tethered to tiktok. >> reporter: so what happens if a ban does take effect? tiktok would not disappear from phones, but it would be removed from the app store and no new downloads or updates would be possible. >> any third party business that helps us use tiktok, it would make it virtually impossible for them to provide tiktok to users.
