it did awaken a lot of people in the area. that happened at 422 this morning. and that's very common after a even a medium earthquake, which they had last week to continue to see those aftershocks. so that's what we're seeing this morning. most likely it will continue as we go through the next several days here at home. we've got a couple of weather systems. we're watching across northern california. the first one moving in, bringing some clouds and rain and as we zoom into the bay area, not yet seeing much in the way of rain, it's just cloudy, but there will be a slight chance that we could at least see some spotty sprinkles here. and there for today. would it really bother with the umbrella? but maybe a jacket with a hood on in case you get caught in some of those spotty showers, and then we'll have a better chance of some spotty rain heading into wednesday. so i'll be tracking that for you. we'll talk about the impacts. but, mike, it's already a tough time driving through the altamont pass. yeah, we're at the critical point here around north flynn road. we have reports of a

court records show he has a long criminal past in north carolina. officials say he now faces federal charges. this guy is in a whole load of hurt right now. officers say a witness played a key role in identifying the suspect. fortunately, we were able to locate a witness that came to us and said, hey, i saw the guy running out of the bushes. he jumped into a black nissan, and i took a picture of the vehicle and the tank, which was great. in a social media post, former president trump praised law enforcement for keeping him safe, exclaiming that he's proud to be an american. vice president harris condemning political violence, urging all americans to do their part to ensure that this incident does not lead to others. and president biden said that he's directed his administration to ensure that secret service has the resources needed to keep former president trump safe. back to you. all

confidence and consumer spending are up. this is the soft landing they hoped for, though nothing is instant. it will take a while for lower rates to hit the american consumer. someone once compared interest rate cuts to turning on a spigot. you only have to wait about six months for the water to flow and it's not just american central bank brazil central bank. the bank of england will be making rate decisions this week, as will norway, south africa and on friday, japan. salesforce announced minutes ago it's giving americans schools millions of dollars to better prepare school children for jobs using artificial intelligence. a recent poll showed just 15% of american workers say they're ready and trained to use ai. money will go to san francisco and oakland public schools. it's an interesting time. ai has changed the world. we think about it through the lens of how are we partnering with these districts and our nonprofits on this journey, and what is our

couple of days, we'll be watching out for a chance of even some isolated thunderstorms as another chance of showers comes in on wednesday. right now it's cloudy. we're seeing temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. it is windy in san francisco. that wind coming in from the west at 25mph, along with those temperatures in the 50s. so it does feel very chilly. and now getting that lightning strike on the california nevada border. and that's the best chance that we'll see of those thunderstorms over the cierra. and then as we get a closer look, there are some showers just to our north. but we are seeing that along the coastline and that rain chance will continue mostly for lake and mendocino counties. and then we're seeing this system passing by with a lot of clouds, cooler temperatures today, a little bit of a break in the clouds for tomorrow. but then we're looking at another chance of showers coming in on wednesday. and it looks like it could be a slightly higher chance of rain. and we're even seeing that chance of thunderstorms over the foothills. so we'll have to watch out for that. looking at

our temperatures for today, cooler than what we typically see for this time of september. 71 in palo alto. hayward as well as livermore. and then tomorrow we're looking at much more of the same temperatures. so we're going to keep it cool. a lot of 60s near the coast. and then for wednesday, we're also looking at some mild weather before we see things really heating up quickly. going into the weekend. so once those couple of weather systems pass by that bring us the chance of rain, we transition to high pressure and that's going to heat up those temperatures heading into the weekend. as we officially welcome in fall. by sunday it will be 90, but we're looking at some 70s to start out our week and we'll see that continue through wednesday. and then also a chance of showers in san francisco today. and on wednesday, and then dry the rest of the week. mike, do you have any better news for the altamont pass? i do. kerry i'm still tracking a crash in san francisco, but we'll take you to the east bay because this is westbound 580. the issue that
