"early today" starts right now. good morning. i'm frances rivera. sean "diddy" combs remains behind bars this morning. the music mogul facing a slough of charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. he will be back inside a courtroom for an appeal hearing after he was denied bail. the indictment against combs has been unsealed. and some of the details you're about to hear are graphic. chloe melas has this report. >> reporter: sean diddy combs behind bars. a federal judge denying the music mogul bail following his arrest and indictment as the prosecutor alleges he is dangerous and poses an ongoing threat to the safety of the community. in comporturt, combs pleading n guilty to several counts. >> sean combs led and

participated in criminal activity, including sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and the obstruction of justice. >> reporter: in an indictment federal prosecutors say since 2008, combs abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, present his reputation and conceal his conduct. >> as i a ledged, when combs didn't get his way, he was violent. and he subjected victims to physical, emotional and verbal abuse. >> reporter: combs' arrest at a new york city hotel monday night comes six months after federal authorities raided the grammy winner's home in los angeles and miami, revealing what they say they found. firearms, including three defaced ar-15s in his bedroom closet and videos of sexual performances with multiple victims known as freak-offs. >> they often lasted days at a

time, involved multiple sex workers and narcotics which he distributed to victims to keep them obedient and compliant. >> mr. combs is a fighter. he's going to fight this to the end. >> reporter: today's federal case including a string of civil suits as well as a settlement with singer cassie, seen in this 2016 surveillance video being physically attacked by combs. cassie later filing a civil suit accusing him of raping and physically abusing her. the terms of their 2023 settlement were not disclosed. an attorney saying he is not a perfect person, we don't want the federal government in our bedroom. federal prosecutors are leaving the door open for even more arrests, saying combs did not

act alone. >> i'm not taking anything offer toff the table. former president trump spoke at a town hall in michigan. the trump campaign has been placing blame on the rhetoric used by democrats. nbc's garrett haake has more from michigan. >> reporter: former president donald trump thanking officers who caught the suspect. and describing the alarming moments. >> all of a sudden we heard shots being fired in the air. and i guess probably four or five. secret service nknew immediatel it was bullets, and they grabbed me. >> reporter: an agent had fired on the armed suspect who was able to hide in the bushes undetected by secret service for nearly 12 hours. trump recalling a phone call from president biden. vice president harris said she also called him. >> i checked on him to see if he was okay. and i told him what i said publicly, there's no place for political violence.

he's used heated language against them. >> if we don't win on november 5th, i think our country is going to cease to exist. >> and our thanks to garrett for that report. the fbi is investigating several suspicious packages and letters sent to election officials in at least eight states. with the ap reporting as many as 15. some of the packages contained white powder. a senior law enforcement official says none of the material was found to be hazard hazardous. the scare did cause disruptions in ballot counting. turning to lebanon, where pagers belonging to hezbollah members exploded across the country on tuesday. and a warning. some of the images here may be disturbing. at least nine people were killed, including several children. nearly 3,000 others were injured, with 200 in critical

condition. the iran-backed militant group calling it a coordinated attack by israel. israel has not confirmed if it was behind what appears to be an unprecedented attack. >> reporter: good morning, frances. that's right. well, both hezbollah and the lebanese foreign ministry are blaming israel without providing evidence. and israel so far has neither confirmed nor denied that it was behind the attack, and it has not responded to a request for comment. but, apart from who did it, the other question that remains unanswered is how is it possible that all those pagers exploded at the same time? especially considering that hezbollah said that they decided to switch from cell phones, which they believed were too easy to track and monitor by israel to pagers, and they handed out tons of them to their militias and institutions inside lebanon. now the former cia director, john brennan, he said that he

believes that, because they all exploded at once, there must have been some sort of explosives in each one of them. and they must have been intercepted and then switched for the ones for hezbollah. he also added, and i quote, that all suspicion has to rest on is israel. and israel could have carried it out to show that it is capable of carrying out attacks inside lebanon. at least nine people were killed, including the son of a hezbollah member, a parliament member was injured, including the iranian ambassador to lebanon who said on x that his injuries are superficial and that he's in good condition. after the attack, hezbollah unsurprisingly, has said that it will retaliate. >> claudio. thank you. back here at home. families are demanding accountability for the six construction workers killed in the baltimore bridge collapse last march. family members of three of the

deceased workers are suing the owner of the cargo ship that struck the bridge, alleging negligence. the wife of miguel luna through an interpreter. >> translator: real justice means no son has to graduate without their father, and no grandchild has no know their grandfather through a distant picture. >> a spokesperson for the cargo ship owner said the company will not offer comment on the accusations. police in ohio tracked down a missing child who decided to go on a solo target run. according to the bedford police department, the 8-year-old was seen on a ring camera, getting into her mom's car around 7:00 a.m. sunday morning. officers found her about 11 miles away at a target. according to a police report, she hit a mailbox on the way to the store. the police department joked about this online, writing,

in kansas, a purple heart veteran buried over 50 years ago in an unmarked grave finally gets the headstone his family always wanted. derrick lytle from our wichita affiliate has the story. >> reporter: half a century, buried in an unmarked grave at calvary cemetery, he lacked an identifying marker. >> he went the past 54 years without any recognition. he shouldn't have had to go that long. >> reporter: gutierrez was killed in action in 1970 while serving in the army in vietnam. christopher's cousin, theresa guerrero tried for several years to get him a headstone but was told only immediate family could request one. after our story aired in may, a rep from the v.a. administration got the word and the ball rolling. seeing the stone moved her to tears. >> i didn't think that they would come. it means a lot.
