members, but two nasa astronauts will stay on earth to make room for that stranded duo. all right. back here on mother earth. we got some fog right behind you, rob. we got some summer on the way, though. yeah, we got patchy, dense fog. we may have a few of those advisories for your morning commute. you're seeing that right now across the golden gate bridge, but also at the same time, heat advisories going into effect during the day tomorrow. ho the city hall insiders have a formula: grow the system, exploit the system. take mark farrell's record.

after receiving the largest ethics fine in city history for breaking campaign laws. mark authorized a commission almost every year he was in office. he was even caught taking donations from people he would then appoint to commissions, including a felon convicted of bribery. san francisco's challenges demand urgency, not more of the same failed insiders. alright. what's the definition of character to you? umm... would you be a superhero or a supervillain?

if you could say one thing to big tobacco, what would it be? it's so important in this time of change that we reclaim our sacred ways. i had to open my eyes. you can't continue to do this. deep breath. i'd want to ask them “why?” (♪♪) light on some of the people who make our area unique. nbc bay area's joe rosato jr. introduces us to a san francisco man where music and the law go hand in hand. there's something magical about music. and i think it defines that element in us that is still undescribable. it could be just as difficult to describe

the path of enrique ramirez. so that's where i grew up in torreon. that's about eight hours south of el paso. my dad worked in the fields picking cotton, and my mom worked in tending the agricultural workers who were there. ramirez was a kid when his family traded life in mexico for life in east los angeles. recent arrivals from mexico were attacked. we were ridiculed. we were humiliated. we were yelled at. so he and other young mexican immigrants tried to fit in by hiding their culture, culture, culture are mexican american kids who think they're white. so they would change their name like enrique to henry or pedro to pete. but when ramirez was swept up in protests against the vietnam war, he found a new voice in the growing chicano movement. in august 29th, 1970, we had the largest march in east los angeles against the vietnam war

and this new chicanos were no longer mexican-americans. they were proud of their heritage. they wanted to be mexican. they wanted to speak spanish. i became a very active student in walkouts, in marches. his weapon in the fight became a guitar in the process. in this recapturing of our culture, i'd always play guitar. i knew a lot of mexican ballads or corridos. the songs ramirez wrote were imbued with his politics. stop the bombing, stop the bombing music became a big part of my life, but also politics. so that led me to think about becoming a lawyer. so ramirez came to san francisco to attend what was then hastings school of law, finding inspiration in his fellow immigrants in san francisco's mission district. so i've been practicing now in the area of immigration and personal injury

and discrimination for the last 40 years gave me such a sense of pride and satisfaction to be able to help and keep a family together, you know, family united, or avoid the deportation of a dad or a brother. love the land, the land. throughout his life, the themes of justice and equality have coursed through ramirez's music and his career. he traces their roots to a key figure from his childhood in mexico. that's my mother, olga rios. she's. she's the. she's the one that pulled us through seven kids on her own. it's in my heart at my age, i'm still in awe and wondering what the magic of music is. this child's play. at 73, ramirez is at retirement age, yet he can't seem to quit working because there are people to help. when i hear and of

course, always a song in need of singing joe rosato jr waking by nbc bay area news deeply ian cull my very nice. all right, for more stories celebrating hispanic heritage, please scan that qr code right there on your screen. it will take you to our nbc bay area app, which is free to download and available for all smartphone devices. let's step outside right now. live. look at the bay bridge and you know when it's free flowing like that. it's a beautiful sight and it's kind of a rare sight. but let's talk about weather. yeah, you could see a little bit of the line of fog over there. yeah. does it feel fall like to you so far today? it did. a few hours into fall today. it felt kind of warm today in the east bay. i had a jacket on, and as i was walking, teddy and i had to take it off because it was too hot. teddy is your dog. yeah, it was warm enough if you're going to walk the dog out there. but

you know, you're going to question, i think if it's fall tomorrow, if you're in some of the inland valleys of the east bay and san jose, we have a heat advisory showing up on the first full day of fall for the south bay and the east bay, right now, 66 degrees in san jose. not too bad. we are eventually going to see a few patches of low clouds around the santa clara valley, but we're not likely to see much of that in walnut creek. as high pressure builds in the ocean, influence stays mainly bay side and along the coast. as we head over to san rafael, 60 degrees and a sign of the morning commute could be this patchy, dense fog. you're looking at it live there on the golden gate bridge, and notice where the low clouds are tomorrow morning. not as much inland out towards the tri valley or the carquinez strait. still locally up here around the north bay and down into san jose. and during the day, less of that marine influence to watch the temperatures here from morning, mainly in the 50s and low 60s, as early as lunchtime, closing in on 90 degrees out by livermore and morgan hill and san francisco and oakland. upper 70s to upper 80s, bayside and could get close to 90 around
9:50 pm
fremont and mountain view. low 90s san jose, upper seconds south of downtown and out towards the tri valley. these areas inland east bay, south bay, santa cruz mountains under the heat advisory not just for monday, but check out these temperatures tuesday. day two of the heat advisory tuesday, with similar temperatures in the mid to upper 90s inland through the east bay 98 san jose southward, 70s and 80s around san francisco and oakland. but by wednesday, big cooling and we may actually have some drizzle on the coast as the wind picks up the clouds come back for a day, and then the temperatures try to rebound a little bit by thursday. still, mainly thosenland approaching thursday. so it will finally drive the wednesday cooling as the weather system here again wednesday morning. maybe a little bit of drizzle on the coast, but watch the orange here. this is high pressure building in as we head towards next weekend. so two warm ups for tracking the bigger one coming in for tomorrow and tuesday. that will put places like san francisco even downtown, closing in on some low 80s and then jumping back to the mid 70s second half of the week.

inland valleys tomorrow hottest days monday and tuesday. then by friday and next weekend we're into the 90s. and why that weekend forecast is important. if you have tickets out to levi's. early afternoon starts sunday. anthony is looking at that as well because it impacts you too. it could be quite hot, as you know. levi's stadium early afternoon upper seconds. that's the trend right now as we move forward through next weekend. so first weekend of fall right now could be hanging on to those summerlike temps. all right okay. the results of this 49ers game each and every one of you. i feel like you watch until the bitter, bitter, bitter end. well, you kept thinking maybe there'd be. it wouldn't be so bitter. but it turned out to be very bitter. shanna he said it. chance's chance after chance after chance. and they couldn't do it. the 49ers lose back to back games after falling on the road to the rams, while head coach kyle shanahan calls this loss very frustrating. i just told you why stick around. sports is next

of injuries. there was no cmc or george kittle, but that doesn't make this loss any less disappointing. after the 49ers blow, a double digit lead in socal, the faithful taking over sofi stadium. look at all that red. that's why they call it levi south. breakout day for jauan jennings first drive. he hauls in a 13 yard touchdown, and he was just getting started. still in the first quarter, brock purdy dodges the rush then hits jennings for his second score of the game. jennings gets the hat trick in the third quarter, a 31 yard touchdown catch. he had a career high 11 receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns. the 49ers had a ten point lead with under seven minutes to go. then the rams come storming back after a missed field goal by the niners.
9:55 pm
kyren williams scores on the short run game, tied at 24. plenty of time for the niners to march down the field and kick a field goal. but on second and long, ronnie bell's got to make that grab. the rams get the ball back with time winding down. joshua karty drills a 37 yard field goal and the rams rally to beat the 49ers 27 to 24. you know, it was a frustrating game throughout it. you know i thought we had every chance to win that game. i thought also we had a number of times in the game we had we had opportunities to run away with it. i knew everyone was without them having to tell me, and we should be. and when you have a game like that where you feel you have every chance to win and you don't get it done, those are the ones. those are usually the more disappointing ones. you know, you miss out on an opportunity and give the other team life. it's the nfl, man. the other guys on the other side are really good. and they'll make you pay for it. so we had to learn the hard way today. tough day for the raiders against the panthers. andy dalton replaces bryce young at quarterback and looks all world. he tosses for

more than 300 yards and three touchdowns. carolina wins for the first time this season, while the raiders dropped to one and two. panthers win it 36 to 22. to baseball. the giants sweeping up in kc. the orange and black doing their damage in the second. brett wisely comes through with a two out rbi single. the giants score a pair in the inning. that was more than enough for blake snell. he was dealing, striking out 9 in 6 scoreless innings. the bullpen closes the door. the giants sweep the royals two nothing. san francisco only allowed one run during this three game series. it's just nice to get a sweep against a good team playing pretty good right now. you know, it's on a day where we're just not going to kill the ball because lugo's been pitching so well. two huge hits out of two youngsters. you know, driving a couple of runs and then let blake do his thing. and the bullpen take over. so kind of doing a little bit differently. this series has been a lot about the pitching. all right. last sunday for the

a's in oakland, the series finale against the yankees tied at two in the third. linden native aaron judge hammers it to center. it's his league leading 55th home run. then in the sixth, the a's down three. ryan noda doubles to right. that'll score a pair of runs to make it a one run ball game. but the yankees pull away. new york sweeps oakland 7 to 4. all right, the a's are off tomorrow. then their final three game series against the rangers. that ends on thursday. but let's end on a happy note. the sharks preseason against vegas. they lost 4 to 2, but macklin celebrini, the number one overall pick, scored a goal in this game, so there's a lot of excitement. yes, they lost to vegas four two. but again, only preseason. macklin, you watch him on the ice and he is special. all right. i do want to talk about one thing about the 49ers. yes. that woman who we saw earlier in the show who said she's never been to a 49ers game, but she's been a fan since. i don't have any juice, though. asking the wrong person by the ticket. okay. the old fashioned way. all right. all right. we got to do something.

canett. okay. hey, before we go, a big night tomorrow here on nbc. the voice is returning for a new season with new head coaches. reba mcentire, gwen stefani will return, and michael buble and snoop dogg. it's a family thing. first and foremost. it feels like a family reunion every time we get together. you got superheroes. gwen was just saying it felt like we were in a movie when we were together. everybody's a character. we all bring something unique to the table, and we all have fun and we care. they're not superheroes. they're superheroes. i know he came. snoop came back from the olympics, and now he's on the voice. all right. the voice premieres tomorrow night at eight, right here on nbc. bay area followed by the premiere of the medical drama brilliant minds at ten. then nbc bay area at 11, of course. all right. thanks very much for joining us. we'll be back tonight at 11. been an hour. see you then. bye.
