right now at six. targeting sideshows. the new law san francisco is considering to put the brakes on the dangerous and illegal street takeovers. president biden, taking center stage at the united nations. we're live in washington with the major issues he's set to address and what may be one of the most consequential speeches in his presidency. plus, the a's set for their final series at the coliseum. the message from the team's owner, as fans say farewell to their beloved team. this is today in the bay it's so hard to say goodbye to the a's. or is it? we'll talk about that later. but good morning to you
6:01 am
here on today in the bay. i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. we'll check in with mike inouye in just a little bit. he's got a look at that morning commute. but what about this forecast? kari? still hot. and we're going to eventually see those temperatures coming down as we go into the next couple of days. but take a live look outside in dublin. it's busy. if you've got to come through here, you might want to get ready to head out soon. now we're going to see temperatures there starting out in the upper 50s and low 60s. it's 65 in pleasanton, 63 in oakland. all of these numbers are a little bit warmer than it was yesterday at this time, but we are still going to have those hot temperatures for today up to 98 degrees in livermore, 98 in concord, vacaville today, 99 degrees. and we're in the upper 90s and even triple digits for ukiah, much of the north bay in the mid 90s. oakland today 86 and 81. in san francisco. but let's take it to tomorrow. big changes ahead, mostly 60s and 70s from the coast to the inner bay. and we'll talk about that
6:02 am
cooldown coming up. mike you were tracking two trouble spots here. you showed one. i'm showing the other right here. the bay bridge has had a tough drive all morning. as we're down to one lane. continuing right now as it's at 6:00. this is the time when they should have those lanes fully opened on the central freeway. things are jammed up from the city all the way back into the toll plaza, packing in the toll plaza itself. oh, look at that. the speed sensors have just started to recover, so i believe, and i hope they cleared that crew will get confirmation in just a couple of seconds. the second big backup is getting in toward the tri-valley. the dublin interchange. there's a crash blocking two lanes approaching hopyard. so your westbound commute is really packed in right now. back to you. thanks, mike. statewide california communities now have more tools to combat dangerous and disruptive sideshows, but that could be especially true in san francisco, where supervisors might give police the power to sell people's cars and motorcycles. today in the bay's kris sanchez joins us from the newsroom this morning. and, chris, when you say it like that, this might get a lot of
6:03 am
people's attention. i mean, we know that people can have their cars towed and impounded. there's a lot of costs associated with that. but if you actually lose your wheels, that's a big deal. and there is some urgency in san francisco in trying to give police more power to crack down on sideshows, because the police are also trying to get ahead of the growing number of people showing up on dirt bikes. this was the scene a month ago when about 100 dirt bike riders swarmed the city, marking an escalation in the dangerous and destructive sideshow behavior in one place, riders were able to get off their bikes. they broke into four stores and fled the scene. even faster than drivers and cars would out. mayor london breed and the san francisco police want dirt bike riders to be held to the same standard. more recently, dirt bikes have erupted onto the scene and have created a different challenge for the police department. much in the same vein, but different to some extent because they are far more nimble. both of these events should be described as nothing other than vehicle
6:04 am
insurrections. it is lawless. today, the supervisors will consider extending how long the city can impound a vehicle and even sell it. if the driver or rider is convicted of charges. the ordinance also clearly makes it illegal to plan a sideshow, block the roadway or even private property for the stunts makes it illegal to be a spectator and ups the penalty for all of that to include jail time and fines. penalties for people who are not even behind the wheel are also a possibility. these are called, you know, sideshows for a reason. they have their a show and they have audiences. so to the extent we can also hold accountable the people who are publicizing these illegal events, that could help a supervisor. dorsey says the sideshows shouldn't be just written off as harmless entertainment. by way of example, he talks about what happened in sacramento on
6:05 am
sunday, where at least two people were killed because of sideshow activity. just yesterday, governor gavin newsom signed four new state laws to help communities respond to sideshows. we will track for you whether san francisco supervisors upped the ante today as well. laura, thank you very much. kris. 604 right now, also today, three suspects accused of using machetes in a violent south bay attack are scheduled to be arraigned. san jose police announced the arrest last week, saying the attack happened in june. surveillance video captured the graphic incident. it shows the victim punched, kicked and stabbed in a parking lot on alum rock avenue near san jose's calvary cemetery. the victim did survive. investigators say the attack followed a dispute from earlier that same day. well, new overnight, tens of thousands of people have fled southern lebanon as israel intensifies its aerial assault. nearly 500 people were killed in lebanon on monday, and the death toll has since risen to at least 558.
6:06 am
this is including at least 50 children. israel dramatically expanding its aerial attacks. this is after vowing to ramp up its campaign against hezbollah following nearly a year of mounting hostilities with the iran backed militant group and political group. now this all comes as president joe biden set to deliver one of the final and most consequential speeches of his presidency today. this is at the united nations general assembly in new york city. here's a live look for you. that entryway where we're expected to see the president come shortly. white house officials familiar with that speech telling nbc news that the president will focus on a call for an immediate ceasefire at the israel-hamas war, as well as climate crisis. today in the bay's brie jackson live for us in washington with more so bree, what can we expect from this speech? good morning marcus. so today, president biden is expected to address the matter in his speech to the u.n. general assembly. assembly. meanwhile, the state department is warning americans to leave

lebanon after israel appeared to signal the start of a broader military campaign. israel dramatically expanding its assaults on lebanon monday with airstrikes that killed hundreds and wounded over a thousand more. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu sending this message to the lebanese people. israel's war is not with you. it's with hezbollah. for too long, hezbollah has been using you as human shields. the idf has warned you to get out of harm's way. i urge you, take this warning seriously. the escalation is heightening tensions in the region. iran's new vice president accuses israel of attempting to draw them into a wider war, something he says he does not want. we want to move in a more peaceful, more stable world. we don't seek
6:08 am
war, but we will defend ourselves. u.s. defense officials say israel has not been sharing details about its military movements and fear hopes for a ceasefire in gaza are dwindling. president biden is expected to push for a diplomatic resolution when he addresses the u.n. general assembly today. my team is in constant contact with their counterparts, and we're working to deescalate in a way that allows people to return to their homes safely. the defense department plans to send a few dozen american troops to the middle east in the coming days to help americans flee the region. and in addition to american troops, the u.s. is considering options to send other military assets to the region, such as multiple ships and aircraft. a lot to follow there. brie jackson in washington this morning. brie thank you. ahead of the a's final series in oakland, team owner john fisher has a message
6:09 am
for fans. and let's just say most of them are not taking it too well. we have a live look at the oakland coliseum here, where tonight they will host the first of just three more a's games through thursday against texas. next year, the team will play in sacramento. fisher yesterday sent a letter to fans who supported the team for more than 50 years. it explains his side of why the team is now leaving oakland. our bob redell is following that part of the story. he'll join us with a live report in our next half hour. 608 for you this morning, let's take a look where at the forecast for you today. meteorologist kari hall, of course, has been monitoring those conditions out there. live. look, here in san jose, things look nice and pleasant. i mean, look at the sun. trying to peek through there. beautiful. kari. i know that's, like your favorite part of the day. it is. once the sun starts to come over the hills and it's still nice and cool outside, we know it's going to be a hot day as we take a look that we can actually see the hills there in the distance, and we are going to have mostly
6:10 am
clear start to the morning and into the afternoon in fremont as well as sunnyvale. it's right now 61 degrees 56, in fairfield and upper 50s for napa and 54 in santa rosa. when we take a look at our highs today versus what's the record high? because we've been saying it's going to be hot, but still not setting a record today. and in santa rosa, we are going to head up to about 94 degrees. but today's record high is 103. and in concord it's going to be 98, just a few degrees shy of a record high temperature with upper 80s and low 90s across much of the rest of the bay area. we'll take a look at some cooler temperatures ahead. but mike, you're seeing some high numbers there at the gas pump. i wish i was showing some lower numbers, like i wish you were showing some lower numbers, but we're not here. the bay's best again is 419, though today it's found in alameda county, where hayward has abe for your fill up on mission boulevard. the low for the south bay is 429. we'll point to san jose's great gas on tully road this morning with san jose and sunnyvale have a number of spots
6:11 am
at that price. and then in the north bay, marin county's best is 439 at elite gas and maher on river street. that's in san rafael. you can get those prices or you can update if they're wrong@gasbuddy.com. as we look at the maps, we do have two key spots that are really trouble right now. westbound 580 getting toward the dublin interchange. the crash is around doherty as we move to our camera. we couldn't quite see it because of the blocking trees and buildings, but you see how jammed it is in the foreground, in the distance. the dublin grade. it is moving smoothly there. the jam is getting to the dublin interchange and over here getting across to san francisco still jammed all the way across the bay bridge. consider bart, that's a much smoother drive. back to you. keep us in the know. thanks, mike. we've got a look at the new college rankings that are out this morning. coming up, the high marks for local universities and the california school that swept them all. stock market hit new records. plus hidden gifts for new moms. let's go out to the future and see what we're going to do today. looks like we're
6:12 am
going to hit new records, marcus. i like the way that looks. hey plus, as we approach halloween, what is the scariest thing? what's scarier than the deep, deep ocean? maybe your past relationship. i don't know, but there is a new discovery researchers just made right in time for the spooky season. keep it right here. we're going to talk about that and so much more

other record monday as investors digested last week's interest rate cut. southwest airlines is going to announce a new schedule tomorrow. some cities may see cuts. fewer flights may be no flights. other cities will gain. southwest looking to save money? san francisco's levi strauss sent a picture, a silhouette out on social media that looked a whole lot like beyonce riding a horse. the assumption is there's some kind of beyonce line of jeans coming. candidate for president donald trump says he'll put a 200% tariff on john deere products if it moves some of its operations from iowa to mexico. deere says it is moving some small assembly lines south to make room for bigger, better assembly lines in iowa. here's trump that if i win, john deere is going to be paying a 200%.
6:16 am
they haven't started it yet. maybe they haven't even made the final decision yet, but i think they have. john deere is going to. and anybody else that does this because it's hurting our farmers. it's hurting our manufacturing. and if you do that you're going to have a 200% tariff put on the product that you make in mexico right across the border. they think they're going to make product cheaper in mexico and then sell it in for the same price as they did before, make a lot of money by getting rid of our labor and our jobs. now that's notable because it would violate the new nafta deal that trump himself put in place that allows free trade between the us, mexico and canada. remember, also, mexico will not pay that tariff our farmers would. trump will talk about taxes today in georgia. we'll talk more about that coming up in a half an hour. china's communist leadership has put new stimulus into place to help spark the economy there. china's economy and its unemployment in serious trouble. youth unemployment as high as 17%. caroline ellison, who's there in that blue hat, will be
6:17 am
sentenced today for her role in the crypto coin ftx fraud case. she testified against her former boyfriend, sam bankman-fried. he got 25 years. ellison was the head of alameda research, the trading arm of ftx, and a new trend on tiktok that does not involve eating laundry detergent. women are hiding gift cards in baby products like boxes of diapers, so that new moms can buy themselves something nice. started with tiktoker dasha gonzalez, who spotted a $20 purse left on a shelf in a target in the baby aisle. gonzalez figured the mom who left it decided against buying the purse in order to buy diapers, and that's where she created. she deserved the purse. all right, there we go. i was inspired to do that from seeing that tiktok. i want to just encourage any of my other mama creators. i'd have to be a mom creator to do this. just like this. anonymous. giving back i always have a little bit of
6:18 am
mixed feelings about posting yourself doing something nice. yeah, i you know, because just do the nice thing. but i think it inspires more people to take off nice things. and we're talking about it, although i really wonder if it was a mom who couldn't afford the purse or like, you know, your kids grab the stuff. honestly, all the time. you're like, no, no. also realistic possibility. yeah. yes. and but it all turned out great. i suppose we really ought to put it back where it started. but you know, that's true nonetheless. this is a nice thing. it could have been the dad thinking, like, i'm going to buy my wife the purse, but now i got to get the pampers. i'm just going to put that back. so it was really the dad. hey, dads, buy the purse. de león. bottom line, dads need gift cards. use cloth diapers. it doesn't matter. and then he goes somewhere really nice and buys the first one without kids. but you know, hey, go for it. yeah. you didn't have triplets. what about those colleges? how are the colleges doing? yeah, let's move on to colleges this morning. bay area colleges once again scoring high marks in the just released best rankings from u.s. news and world report. and the yearly survey dropped at midnight. here you go. the
6:19 am
category of national universities. stanford ranks fourth overall. cal ranked 17th, ranked second behind ucla and top public schools. santa clara nationally ranked 63rd. and by the way, princeton is the top national university. san jose state ranks fourth among 118 in the category of west regional universities. saint mary's ranked sixth in that very same category. go gaels, go gaels, torri. well all right, all right. what's trending for you this morning? a spooky discovery in the pacific ocean is causing a stir. take a look at your screen right here. so, scientists have discovered a new ghost shark. this is off the australian and new zealand coast. now it's dubbed as the australasian narrow nosed spook fish, closely related to sharks and rays. ghost sharks, poorly researched because they live just so deep in the ocean. and even after finding this undiscovered species, scientists say that they still have a lot to learn about the ghost sharks,
6:20 am
including their lifespan and role in the ecosystem. i wonder how large they are. i know, and how do they taste? oh geez. also trending masai on the oceanfront from the ocean over to shark tank. there we go. that's where tonight, san jose sharks are hosting their first ever neighborhood game. sharks are hosting the anaheim ducks tonight in a preseason game. neighborhood game is billed as a way to connect with the community and it follows a larger effort this month to meet with fans in various bay area cities. tonight's game includes lower cost tickets and another chance for fans to engage with players. the team's season opener takes place october 10th at sap against saint louis. some people, they want to be inside there to cool off because it is going to be warmer out there. yes, trying to find some air conditioning today and it's going to be nice and cool to start, but heating up quickly and we still have the heat advisory in effect for contra costa and alameda counties for today. one last day before it will be cooler in our forecast,
6:21 am
even though much of the rest of the bay area will see temperatures just as hot as we'll see in those two counties in palo alto 64 right now, and it's 63 in dublin and san francisco, it's a clear 61 and 67 in san jose. and then heading over to livermore. take a look at the trend going from already 75 degrees at 9:00 to 1:00, temperature of 94. so you don't have a lot of hours throughout the morning to try to get in those more active activities. and then throughout the day, it's going to be in the upper 90s into the afternoon at 7:00. it's starting to cool down once that wind picks up for hayward, look for a high today of 88 and 98. in concord, it will be as hot as 102 degrees. and then for san francisco, low 80s. today, half moon bay at 75 degrees. going into tomorrow. significant cooling not only for the coast but the entire bay area. most of our highs will be in the 60s and 70s with some low 80s for the
6:22 am
south county. the inland east bay, all the way up to the north bay. so we are going to see that day of a cool down, and then it's starting to bounce back up for the end of the week. with thursday's highs in the upper 70s for the inner bay and upper 80s farther inland, you go. so we are going to see this cold front move through fairly quickly. right behind that high pressure will be building and that's going to shift our wind direction with the high pressure. more of a northerly wind instead of that sea breeze. so that's going to make it feel hot as we go into the end of the week. but then coming down again for the weekend. so a lot of changes here with concord's highs in the mid 90s today. but then upper 70s tomorrow and then we're up to 96 degrees on friday and then down to the low 80s. so you just want to make sure you're checking in every day to see what the day will bring, because there will be a big shift from day to day as we deal with the battle of the air masses this time of year in fall and in san francisco, near the coast, we're looking at highs in
6:23 am
the 80s today, but dropping it back to the 60s for tomorrow. mike, you say you've got some better news for the commute. yeah, eventually the bay bridge will be going much better speeds. right now we do see it moving. it's loosening up on the city side. picked up that overnight road work at that rail coming in toward the central freeway. and that will happen overnight though for the next number of nights through the end of the month. so watch for that recovery. pretty quick getting into san francisco, but more traffic continues to feed in off the east shore freeway. so things will not clear at the bay bridge. bart still reports no delays. consider that we also have the crash to the shoulder for all vehicles. still a little distraction for west 580, but lanes are open now heading toward the dublin interchange. back to you. thanks, mike. coming up next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds. she's ready to run on a brand new treadmill. but first she's facing a customer service runaround. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura. nbc bay area responds next. and

exercising her patience. so she contacted consumer investigator chris moore's team to get her on the right track. good morning. this case is from an anonymous east bay viewer. we'll call alex. you'll notice i didn't add an a. you're welcome. well, alex snagged a $25 deal on amazon. this walking pad under-desk treadmill. however, amazon delivered not a treadmill, a yoga mat. yeah. amazon refunded alex's 25 bucks, but she wanted the treadmill. not a refund. amazon just wouldn't do it. despite weeks of back and forth. well, next alex came running to us. we contacted amazon. no
6:28 am
sweat. it sent her a $150 gift card, which alex used to buy the under-desk treadmill. amazon told us we'd like to thank nbc response for bringing this customer concern to our attention. we've apologized to the customer and are glad we were able to resolve this directly with them. alex is a savvy shopper. even though she was only spending 25 bucks, she saved images of her order and her receipt, and those went the distance. in showing amazon the mix up. we recommend that too. just in case a purchase goes off course. you can let us know if you think you're not getting what you paid for. snap the qr code on screen right now to fill out our consumer complaint form online. good to know. thanks, chris. well, we've got a lot more ahead for you at 630, including the a's last week in oakland. correct. marcus, as the fans get ready to say goodbye. the oakland a's begin their final three game home series at the coliseum. the team's owner

the city hall insiders have a formula: grow the system, exploit the system. take mark farrell's record. after receiving the largest ethics fine in city history for breaking campaign laws. mark authorized a commission almost every year he was in office. he was even caught taking donations from people he would then appoint to commissions, including a felon convicted of bribery. san francisco's challenges demand urgency, not more of the same failed insiders.

students, definitely, because they're going to be disconnected with their tiktok, with their snapchat, with their instagram, with their friends. pulling the plug on cell phone use in schools. the changes students will see from a new state ban signed into law and the exceptions being made in certain cases. plus, another hot day in parts of the bay area. meteorologist kari hall tracking the timeline for cooler weather. what a beautiful live look outside. this is today in the bay we're so lucky we have these iconic sights. we really are in the bay area. good tuesday morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. let's talk about that iconic weather that we've been seeing. we just kari hall has a look at that. i don't know how iconic it's been, but it has been warm. yes, it's been very warm for a lot of areas, including the coastline, that have had some very warm temperatures, but the valleys have been downright hot and we're starting out this morning in the low 60s in san rafael. you're walking out the door to
6:33 am
66 degrees and 56. in fairfield. it is now 67, in san jose. so already a wide range in temperatures. as we take a look at some of our live cameras as the sun comes up, we can see that it is all clear and will be another hot one with a high of 81. in san francisco, 88 in hayward, and in fairfield 100 degrees today with upper 90s for livermore, as well as mid 90s for the south county. so we'll talk about cooler changes ahead. mike, how are those trouble spots? one of them was over here at the dublin interchange. you see the traffic moving much more smoothly than the last time we took that live camera. so all lanes are clear. crashes to the shoulder as you approach the interchange. west 580 approaching 680, which now sees a lot more traffic feeding down through pleasanton and in towards sunol, where it meets up with highway 84 traffic back to a relatively standard drive through that section of the tri-valley. highway four slows, pushing down toward walnut creek for the southbound 680 drive. east shore freeway really jammed
6:34 am
up in through berkeley because of the backup that rippled off of the bay bridge, but good recovery now that lanes are all clear from the overnight work on the central freeway. back over to you. thanks, mike. the owner of the oakland a's issued a rare statement to fans as the team starts its final homestand tonight. today in the bay's bob redell joins us live this morning. and bob, this is likely going to be a difficult week for a lot of those lifelong fans out there. correct. the three final games at the oakland coliseum. a three game series begins tonight. continues tomorrow night with the final game midday on thursday. this is a live look at the oakland coliseum, where the a's have been playing at since 1968, but team owner john fisher has decided to move the team. as we're all aware, to sacramento for the next three seasons. while a new stadium is built in las vegas. fisher, who has been reclusive over the years, issued a rare public statement yesterday. in a letter to fans, he wrote his dream when he bought the team in 2005 was
6:35 am
to win world championships and to build a new ballpark in oakland. quote i know there is great disappointment, even bitterness, though i wish i could speak to each of you individually, i can tell you this from the heart. we tried staying in oakland was our goal. it was our mission, and we failed to achieve it. and for that, i am genuinely sorry. the letter also included a typo when listing memorable moments. fisher referenced the 1989 loma prieta earthquake during game three of the world series. fisher misspelled panetta remember, it's i before e, except after c. last week we spoke with jeremy goodrich. he's a lifelong a's fan who will not be attending thursday's last home game. as a matter of fact, he stopped attending oakland a's games in june of 2023 because he doesn't want to give owner john fisher any more of his money. i've never been so, far apart from watching the a's watching major league baseball. it's just
6:36 am
the whole situation is disheartening. it could have been done so much better, and i just feel bad for all of the other fans, but the big thing out of this is the fans and how important fandom is, and i really hope everyone continues to support other oakland sports, and i hope people stop supporting the a's personally. recently, we learned the oakland a's plan to break ground on their new 33 000 seat stadium at the old site of the tropicana hotel in las vegas. next spring, the las vegas review-journal reports. the a's are expected to present their three final agreements with the las vegas stadium authority next month, with a vote confirming those agreements in december. reporting live, bob redell today in the bay thank you bob. still going to be hard to see them go. yeah it will. all right. well 636 for you this morning. that gun used to shoot 49ers rookie ricky pearsall pearsall was purchased legally in arizona. this is all according to a new

report in the chronicle, which cites an unnamed source as saying that it was a semiautomatic pistol purchased seven months ago at a pawn shop in phoenix. not clear who purchased the gun or how it was obtained by the juvenile now charged in the case. pearsall continues to recover from his gunshot wounds. it's not clear when he will return to the field. and in just a few hours, the cal fire worker accused of setting fires will be in court on friday. cal fire arrested 38 year old robert hernandez, an apparatus engineer. he's accused of setting small fires in sonoma county over the summer. all of those fires only burned less than an acre of land. hernandez will be in court today for an arraignment hearing. new at 6:00. parents and students tonight will stand up to try to stop the planned closure of san francisco schools. mayor london breed this week agreed to assemble a school stabilization team made up of city staff to assist the financially troubled district. the school board expects to release a list of
6:38 am
closures next month due to lower enrollment and the massive budget shortfall. before tonight's board meeting, parents actually plan to the district headquarters. they also plan to attend tonight's hearing that is scheduled for 5 p.m. you can soon expect strict new rules on cell phones at your child's school. it comes after governor gavin newsom signed a new bill. newsom signed the phone free school act yesterday. it will require school districts to develop policies to limit the use of smart phones by july of 2026. however, any policy must allow students to use to be able to use their phones in the case of an emergency. newsom says this is supposed to help kids focus in the classroom by taking them away. among both parents and students, there's mixed feelings about the changes limited to where it's not too much of a distraction in the class, but to just make sure that they can still have access to it. i think the students are losing touch with the teacher

student learning. some bay area school districts are already using a system called yonder students place their phones in a personally assigned pouch, which remains locked until the end of the school day. but it can be used in the event of an emergency. 638 this morning, as we take a live look across the bay area this morning, that heat continues for some parts, but not for all. meteorologist kari hall has been monitoring what we can expect today out there. so what can we expect out there? it's going to be another warm day and we're starting out. clear the heat advisory continues for the inland east bay from contra costa to alameda county. even though we're going to see some more of the same temperatures we had yesterday and some more of that heat, we only see that heat advisory for those two counties. but let's go to brentwood included in that heat advisory, going from 74 at 9:00 to 1:00, 93 degrees, and will be in the upper 90s throughout much of the afternoon. and then when we compare our high temperatures and what we're expecting versus
6:40 am
the record high for today, we are not expected to set new records, but it will be close in a few spots, like concord, just about three degrees below that record high of 101. mike, you've had some extra slow commutes this morning. yeah, one was because of a crash in the tri valley that has cleared approaching the dublin interchange. but 580 here also the normal commute. the other was because of overnight work. so i want to point out a couple of related spots. the bay bridge had the overnight roadwork. i'll point that out in a second, but i want to call out new projects, closures overnight for the richmond bridge. both decks, as well as both directions for the golden gate bridge. so watch in case those do have delayed pickup this morning. central freeway project picked up at 6 a.m, but that was a big build up before it got to that point of the morning. a lot of traffic feeds in before that point through the 5:00 hour. now tonight we'll have another issue, not just the closure of lanes down to one lane for the central freeway. we have this concert. this is open for the concert, but watch for crowds off the 280 extension and heading over toward chase center. the rest of the bay is a

6:49 am
car manufacturers are also rolling out larger ev batteries to give customers longer range on the road. there are currently 227 charging stations within national parks across the u.s. according to the national park service website. but the majority are level one or level two ports, meaning that it can take more than ten hours to completely energize a battery. last month, the biden administration announced $521 million in grants to expand the electric vehicle charging and to deploy more than 9200 ports across the country. this will hopefully reduce the range anxiety and the 59% that ev owners are feeling, according to a 2023 study. for more information, go to our website nbcbayarea.com and look for this story on our climate in crisis page. good to know. thanks gary. 649 right now, so now it all comes down to ten finalists on america's got talent happening

going to be some much needed relief. unfortunately, that break in the high heat doesn't last that long. we'll already start to warm up on thursday, with some mid 80s for santa rosa and 91 for fairfield in gilroy. we'll see a high of 89 degrees, so we have that very quick moving cold front moving in right behind that high pressure will replace the nice cooldown that we have and shift our wind direction with this clockwise wind flow. it's going to give us a northerly wind. and we know that high pressure usually heats things up and we will see that happening in spots like napa where we go from 95 to cool down to 77, then 87, and then 93 on friday. and at least for the weekend, we see those temperatures coming back down and more of the milder weather for next week. but we are still in that time of year, early fall. we call it the battle of the air masses, where we go back and forth from mild air to hot temperatures and summer is just not done yet. so we will, of
