its path towards florida's gulf coast. we're live in washington with the white house efforts to get ahead of the storm as fema faces a storm of backlash from its response in the carolinas. reliving a nightmare. the family of a man who died in police custody three years ago reacts after a judge tosses out the cases against two of the three officers facing criminal charges. also cooling down at last. at least a little bit. meteorologist vianey arana tracking that small dip from the recent sweltering temperatures. this is today in the bay. good tuesday morning. thanks for joining us. i'm marcus washington. and i'm laura garcia. so let's start out with that little small dip that we're going to have. how small? i guess we'll take whatever we ca. it'll get better. or i said the gap i guess will be bigger by the end of the week. about 20 degree, 30 degree difference by the end of the week. today we're going to see a 10 to 15 in some
5:02 am
spots. so i think that that's great, especially already at this hour. you know, we've been waking up to these mild temperatures where we haven't gotten much relief overnight, especially in the interior. these are the current temps right now in the 60s. and i want to show you the change already compared to the past 24 hours. right now it's 5 a.m. in san francisco, is already about ten degrees cooler and in through hayward. we're running about eight degrees cooler now for the afternoon for san jose. we did manage to climb into those 90s yesterday. the temperature trend is in the 60s. and if you notice by ten, 11:00, we're going to be in the 70s and we're still going to be warm. we're going to bump up into the 80s again. and we do still have a couple of areas that are still under a heat advisory, but it's more in towards inland hills. we're talking east bay, santa clara valley, just the mountaintops. based on how dry it continues to be. and we're still going to see the 90s. so i'll be back with a closer look at that. and also your extended forecast in a few minutes. first, let's get a

check of traffic with mike. yeah. we're tracking the drive across the san mateo bridge vianey because westbound did have an incident. sounded like a disabled vehicle along that section. i never saw anything on this live camera, and we didn't see the sensors slowing. it. did clear from the chp report. that's good news. 9284, both san mateo dumbarton bridge is moving smoothly. south bay, no issues. south county included. altamont pass, typical volume coming in toward the livermore area. we have a crash on eastbound or southbound 880. we'll check on the details once the chp arrives there, and there may be a roadside fire along 24. we're checking out moraga and lafayette. back to you. sounds good. we'll check back with you, mike. well, new developments. two alameda police officers no longer face charges in connection with the death of 26 year old mario gonzalez today in the bay's bob redell joins us live from the east bay. bob, why did the judge drop these charges? well, good morning to you, laura. and alameda county superior court judge says that the district attorney's office failed to file these charges in a timely manner yesterday in

5:08 am
to say the least time for these responders. they are insisting fema is and the federal government that they have the resources and the personnel necessary. the federal government now racing to respond with those hundreds of thousands of people in the storm of this, potentially in the line of this potentially catastrophic storm, also in that line, piles and piles of debris from hurricane helene, only adding to the hazards. fears are growing in florida as quickly as the monstrous hurricane milton, now barreling toward the state's west coast. my heart breaks for this entire city and just to have this kind of a storm come through is just unheard of. the storm's expected to make landfall late tomorrow around the tampa bay area and counties down the florida peninsula. thousands are heeding mandatory evacuation orders. if you remain there, you could die. my men and women could die trying to rescue

you. president biden approving an emergency declaration. the federal government promising it's ready to respond. with more than 900 federal workers on the ground in florida. we have search and rescue teams, the army corps of engineers, engineers are there. we are ready. we have the personnel. we can respond to multiple events at a single time. that ability will be put to the test with massive storm recovery efforts underway from hurricane helene. among the most pressing priorities, clearing piles of debris that could become flying and floating hazards. it's terrifying to think what this next storm with the wind and the rain will actually do to all of that debris. many dealing with the devastation from hurricane helene feel they haven't gotten enough support. have you seen anyone from fema? no. state and federal officials now battling misinformation, promising help is here as they brace for the next blow. and fema has been
5:10 am
forced to respond to some of those rumors, noting on its website that disaster relief money has not been diverted for any other non disaster relief purpose, and also clarifying that $750 payments that are available for storm victims, those are only initial payments for upfront emergency costs, while fema evaluates what additional funding those people are eligible for. marcus. yeah, a lot more is certainly needed there. alice barr in washington for us this morning. alice. thank you. meteorologist vianey arana. she's been tracking the storm's path, so it was downgraded. but it is still has forceful winds. it absolutely is. and you know, yesterday's headlines were the rapid intensification of how quickly this became a category five hurricane. and i want to show you right now where the wind speeds are and the movement of this. winds are at about 145mph. it's moving east northeast at about 12mph. that pressure right now is at 929 millibars. so just to give you an idea of the track
5:11 am
and when to expect landfall. right now it's looking like a maybe wednesday night into early thursday morning in florida. tampa bay area will be the first zone of impact, and we could see some max sustained winds of about 125mph. rain. we're talking 3 to 15in, but really, it's the storm surge that could quickly become deadly. we're talking three to possibly 15ft, and not only for that first zone of impact. that storm surge is going to stretch beyond that initial tampa area line, including areas like perry, cedar key and areas a little bit further south as well to florid. so just to keep in mind, you know, the impacts of this, the evacuations are underway for a reason. please just stay informed with credible sources. the science focused on scientists who have been doing this for years. we want to make sure that you guys are safe. after all, as a meteorologist and also, you know, forecasters and the national hurricane center, their number one priority is to keep folks safe. so please follow all guidelines.

5:13 am
blocking one lane. no injuries reported and some slowing on highway four around bailey. that's the area over on the right. there may be some crews clearing from the area. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. it is 512 right now. meta unveils new artificial intelligence. ahead on today in the bay. the way it works and what users will now be able to create. and people who lost their money in a crypto coin scam will get their money back. and then some. and the northern lights shine bright in parts of california. the new overnight pictures showing the remarkable colors there on display. we're going to have that and so much more. you certainly want to show up for

union space probe that will travel out to an asteroid called dimorphos. millions of miles away. it will take more than a year to get there. dimorphos is that asteroid we hit with the dart space probe a few years ago, just to see if we could do it that way. we know we could divert an asteroid if we needed to. here's a clip of that. back in 2022. three. two. one. oh my gosh. oh, wow. awaiting visual confirmation. now the new space probe will go see what kind of damage we did. get us more data for future missions to protect the earth from asteroids. well, you hear this? yeah, those are fireworks. you've heard them before, but the video you're seeing is generated by ai. and so too is the audio. a new system from meta allows you to not only create videos, but the sound along with them. that's actually a lot harder than it seems. computers need to be taught not only what the world
5:19 am
sounds like, from babies crying to tires screeching, to what it sounds like on a boardwalk merry go round, it then needs to be able to extrapolate from there what other sounds must sounds like. here's another example. both the kid and the skateboard sound computer generated. it can also add music. so you can add make your own dramatic movies. again, everything you're seeing and hearing computer created music is helpful because if you're making a movie, you don't need the license from an artist because there is no artist. interesting, right? wow. yeah, but then you're always looking for that spot. you know, when you see that on social media, you're like, oh, i want to go there. but now you're like, i want to. well, the person doesn't exist. the spot doesn't create your own space, right? right. well. something real. let's take a look at this right here. check this video out. this is of the northern lights. this is beautiful. but you know what, scott? this is not alaska, not

sweden, not norway. no, this is right here in our own state, northern california. there. this video of the aurora borealis is from lassen county. this is over the weekend near the oregon border. the northern hemisphere is actually experiencing another large geomagnetic storm. this is rivaling those visuals seen last may. and you know what? some of the flares right now are said to be the most spectacular in more than five years. those visuals, of course, this time are not getting down to the bay area, of course, but you might recall back in may, our own rob mayeda actually took this shot. this was from danville. wow, that's incredible. well, lisa's getting a little closer to us. don't have to drive all the way to la, right? i can't travel right now, but maybe it will come to me right? you know, it is making its arrival. what cooler? well, i'm taking it. yes. welcome, welcome. right now we're waking up to some 50s on this map. i feel like we've even missed the 50s at this hour. notice santa rosa, 56 degrees sonoma. also at about 57. san jose right now is
5:21 am
at 67. danville, 60 degrees san francisco 60. and let's talk about the change compared to the past 24 hours. if you look at san francisco running about ten degrees cooler, hayward eight degrees cooler. so what can we expect for this afternoon? well, i do want to remind folks that we're still very dry. so there are still some spots, including concord, brentwood, livermore and also the hilltop areas that remain under a heat advisory until 7 p.m. because even though we're starting to cool off, when you look at the temperatures, we're still going to bump up into some 90s. also, it's still dry. so overnight, this is what we like to see a beautiful recovery with those percentages in the 80s and the 70s. but if you look at livermore, we're already starting to dip down to about 42. and once the sun comes up, that dries out the vegetation, that relative humidity starts to go down. and that's when we start to inch towards that critical fire weather. hourly forecast by 12:00. here's what we can expect san francisco 68. you'll notice areas like brentwood and tracy once again in those 90s.
5:22 am
meanwhile, down through the south bay, we're going to be in the low to mid 80s at 12:00. by the time that we inch towards that 3:00 mark, we're still going to be seeing some upper 80s low 90s and through fairfield and napa and then into the next, i would say couple of maybe 2 to 3 days. you'll start to notice even a bigger dip in the temperatures. this is wednesday morning at around 10 a.m. you'll notice we're going to be in the 60s and the 70s. and this is because in order for that high pressure to get out of the area, it needs to move and get pushed out by a different system. and that's what we're finally going to see. we have a low pressure system that's going to make its move. also a cold front that's developing. and yes, it does look like it could bring the possibility of some shower activity later into this week. so your 7-day forecast for san francisco, we're also going to start to see the return of that marine layer friday into saturday. look at that. we've got a spotty shower chance now. we're still a couple of days out. we'll know a bit more once we get closer, but we do feel
5:23 am
comfortable now putting the possibility of that, especially into early saturday morning temperatures for your friday forecast. we're talking 80s. once that system moves in. look what happens to the daytime highs. we start to see 70s on the inland 7-day forecast as our high. so definitely a welcome relief about 30 degrees. mike how are those roads there looking. all right. we want to show you though that there was an earlier crash we talked about. and it has been upgraded or downgraded i guess depending on how you look at things. it is an alert now for eastbound 80. that crash that was just blocking one lane now blocks at least two, possibly three of your left lanes as crews have arrived on scene approaching highway four, going up toward the carquinez bridge. that is where the activity is. no major injuries, but i think it's just because there are more crews there getting ready to move some vehicles. we'll track that closely. meanwhile, your commute directions move smoothly all around the bay and also across the bay. back to you. all right, mike, thank you. 523 right now, women going through menopause can expect a lot of changes, some that may surprise you.

also impacts women's oral health. in fact, more than a third of women aged 40 and over say they've experienced a decline in their overall oral health as they age. that's according to a study by delta dental insurance. experts say menopause can lead to gum disease, toothaches, even tooth loss. they say women should have more conversations with their dentists about these changes. if you're not comfortable saying, hey, i'm menopausal or perimenopausal, maybe walk in and talk about i'm feeling some dry mouth, or hey, i'm noticing some changes in my gums and
5:28 am
initiate that conversation that way. or email the office before you get there so that they know what you want to talk about. when you arrive. to prevent dental issues, experts say you should eat a balanced diet and cut back on sweets. also, be sure to brush and floss regularly. 527 right now and next, the top stories we're following today, including starting to cool off meteorologist vianey arana timing out. that midweek forecast is following an intense heat wave. plus, marking one one year since the hamas terror attack which sparked a relentless war in the middle east. the demonstrations planned in the bay area today. we'll b

is on as the state prepares for hurricane milton to make landfall. our team is tracking the storm as thousands along its path start to evacuate. plus, decision day, san francisco school district leaders could release their list of possible school closures today. the impact it will have on hundreds of families. this is today in the bay. tuesday morning is here and a good morning to you. i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. let's start out with a look at this forecast dropping temperatures. we're excited but we're checking in with meteorologist vianey arana because we actually broke some records. we did this week was
5:32 am
hot for a number of locations. and we do have kind of a breakdown of just how hot it got in some spots. so just to give you an idea, in san jose, at the airport where we have one of the sensors there, we saw the average, of course, over the past week of 100, over 100 degrees. we did get 103, 106 at one point. it's been the hottest week since records started in 1906. now, the previous record temperatures that we saw were in 2022, and that was of 98 degrees in september. so definitely a big jump there. also, san francisco also saw an average temperature this week of 90.3 degrees. this is the third hottest week since records started in 1874. the previous records were set back in 1939, when that temperature was 93 degrees. and you saw just how hot we got in san francisco. so it's going to be nice to get that relief from the heat. but what's going on on the roads? this is not nice. and we still have this crash alert called for eastbound 80 getting up to the
5:33 am
carquinez bridge away from the bay bridge. folks we now see slowing in the opposite direction. this crash does block two lanes on the center divider up on the center, divide two left lanes. but also we got reports of a car that went down the embankment on the right side. so there may be activity on both sides of the freeway. again, eastbound 80 passing highway four heading toward the carquinez bridge. your commute building off of the carquinez bridge in the north bay, as well as on highway four on the right. those are pretty typical areas. the pinole slowdown is the unusual one. watch that for the east shore freeway. everything else moves smoothly, including the build. starting right now in san jose, highway 101, back to you. thanks, mike. well, today is the day a lot of san francisco families have been dreading. in a few hours, they'll learn whether their neighborhood schools are on the chopping block. as san francisco unified tries to manage its budget. today, in the bay's kris sanchez joining us now. so kris, what can we expect here. well for starters, the san francisco unified superintendent says that families can expect more transparency about this process. that could change where their
5:34 am
kids go to school and how their tax dollars are being spent. san francisco unified is facing scrutiny from the state and from the city of san francisco for budget trouble. that's only partly related to declining enrollment. right now, the district is in a $400 million budget hole and is projected to run out of money by 2025. that could mean bankruptcy. what we know now is that all schools elementary, middle and high schools are part of this discussion, according to the chronicle. as many as 14 of the district's 121 schools could be closed by the end of the school year. we expect that list today. in a recorded video provided by the superintendent's office, superintendent matt wayne talked about why closing or merging some schools is critical. right now, we face a serious budget crisis that we need to address now in order to make sure that we are maintaining local control. right now, the state
5:35 am
has escalated its oversight and is watching us closely. and so the decisions we make in the coming months are going to mean the difference between the state recognizing we've made progress or feeling like it needs to intervene more. okay, so here's what to expect. today, san francisco unified will release that list of schools that could close or merge by the end of the school year. then on thursday, the superintendent will hold a virtual town hall meeting to discuss the plan and take questions from the public. so that will be critical for you out there, too. in about a month, november 12th, the sfusd board could get the final recommendation list after that q&a session, and more discussion, then the board could take a final vote on december 10th. last month, mayor london breed and the city sent in a stabilization team to weigh in on the district's finances, along with human resources and youth and family services. in may, the california department of education released their audit. that was dire, but
5:36 am
monitor said that the district was not close to a state takeover. now, of course, school closures and consolidations, they don't just impact students. hundreds of school teachers and staff members, they could also lose their jobs. so as soon as that school list is public, we'll bring you an update. marcus. all right. chris. thank you. one person is recovering this morning. this is after a fire at a four unit apartment complex in san jose. it happened about 5:00 last night on mesa drive. this is near pioneer high school. it took crews at that scene about 30 minutes to knock out the flames. one person suffered burns on their arms. animal control was actually called to that scene. this is after a rabbit was found alive at the scene. cause of that fire still under investigation. palestinian supporters at uc berkeley organizing a walkout later this afternoon. they are demanding changes following uc's crackdown on protests this fall. they're also calling for solidarity with gaza. in the meantime, last night, hundreds

gathered across the bay area to mark one year since the hamas terror attack in israel. one event took place at congregation emanuel in san francisco, another in palo alto, included people who lost friends and family or still have loved ones being held hostage. today was important because it marks 365 days since so many jews have been held in captivity. since so many jews around the world have felt the victims of anti-semitism. this, of course, is just half the story. others called yesterday a painful reminder of the tens of thousands of lives lost since october seventh, which now approaches 45,000 between gaza and lebanon, including some 16,000 children. developing for you right now, concerns are running high on mexico's yucatan peninsula. this is where hurricane milton delivering a glancing blow. now you can see right there the heavy surf battling the coastline. the

storm skirting the northern edge yesterday impacting some of the ports and tourist hotspots. cancun is going to experience tropical storm conditions at worst. but yesterday, fishermen secured their boats. people stocking up on supplies and businesses boarding up windows. i want to give you a live look right now. this morning over in tampa, florida. this morning, this is where milton is expected to make landfall somewhere along the coast of the gulf coast sometime tomorrow. now, overnight, it was downgraded to a category four. this is after reaching category five strength yesterday. governor newsom sending about 150 firefighters and ground support there to assist in the response, including a team from menlo park. now, people living within florida's evacuation zones, they are being told to leave or they will die. that is the actual direct warning from tampa's mayor. now, across the state, people are piling up those sandbags as you see right here. concerns about the storm surge, flooding and strong winds. also, tampa's airport shutting down
5:39 am
today. schools there in that area and at least 20 florida counties are canceling those classes starting today. meteorologist vianey arana of course, tracking the storm's path and some of the potentially intense conditions there. and this is just another storm. so back to back pretty much. absolutely. and you know, with just the intensity of how this has been forming and the wind speeds, the storm surge is also going to be a big threat, not just for the direct landfall in tampa, but really the entire west coast side of florida. right now, winds are at about 145mph. you can see the movement there, but also look at the eye formation. the pressure is at about 929 millibars, and i want to show you right now what is expected when it comes to landfall. it is expected late wednesday into early thursday morning. right now that potential for that first zone of impact will be the tampa bay area. but there's already warnings in place for storm surge and evacuations extending all the way from tallahassee
5:40 am
down through parts of fort myers and miami. now, tampa has not been hit with a direct impact since the 1920s from a hurricane. max wind speeds might reach by the time they get to land 125mph. still rain 3 to 15in, but that storm surge range is going to be the biggest threats, potentially 3 to 15ft. so folks in this area please just continue to follow guidance of officials and of course, your local mets and the national hurricane center will keep you updated. keep in mind, they also want you to not focus on the category size of this hurricane. we're still seeing this grow in size. there is still a potential for change no matter what. this is expected to make landfall as a hurricane for sure into the upcoming hours. all right, let's get a check of how those roads are doing with mike. all right. vianey, we have a problem over here. nothing compared to that. but we do have slowing in both directions for i 80 and an alert still in effect for the
5:41 am
eastbound direction where two lanes are blocked and activity on the right shoulder as well. so folks are distracted in both directions. the westbound commute bills coming off the carquinez bridge, and the alert is heading toward the carquinez bridge. everything else in the area pretty standard. the build for highway 37 through the north bay and westbound highway for it's tuesday. we're starting to see a little dip in the speeds for 242, and that's typical early start for the volume to build on a tuesday, including at the bay bridge there, slowing off the 880 overcrossing and more slowing into san francisco. there is a crash at fifth. we'll see how quickly crews can get there. give me a chance to look ahead as well. 580 still has that overnight roadwork scheduled. one lane in each direction for both decks of the bridge overnight. right now, everything cleared back to normal. we have overnight crews that are still have blocking two lanes of northbound 680 coming north of koopman. so that will be a little slow down toward 84, possibly for the next hour, but likely for another 45 minutes through this area. plan on a little bit of slowing heading north, but southbound your commutes flying into the south bay, where northbound routes start that slowing for north

walz has been caught exaggerating or misstating parts of his personal biography. harris will be on the view toda, as well as the howard stern radio show and late show with stephen colbert on the view. she's expected to announce new plans to have medicare help pay more for home health care, to keep elderly americans at home instead of the nursing home. other news the supreme court of georgia, georgia remember, a battleground state just reinstated a ban on abortion after six weeks. many women don't realize they're pregnant at six weeks. the u.s. supreme court declined to hear a different abortion case out of texas. but we'll hear a gun case today about ghost guns. the biden administration put new restrictions on the sale of kits used to build unregistered guns. the kit manufacturer says the atf doesn't have that kind of power. the kits to build a gun are not guns, they argue. and two books about the trumps hit bookstores today christopher steele, the guy who wrote the steele dossier that caused a

liberty. clinton, who was also a u.s. senator from new york, talked about the state of u.s. politics and threats to our democracy at an event at the davies symphony hall near city hall yesterday. she also touched on friendships, aging and marriage. as part of that discussion. 554. this morning, san francisco's fleet week is officially underway, and a lot of it involves fun activities, including air shows, parades, and live music. but there's more to it than that today. government agencies will join forces with the military all in the name of safety. today, in the bay's ginger conejero saab is live at the uss tripoli and ginger this morning is more about testing our emergency response. and that is the big focus. good morning to you, laura and marcus. we're on board the uss tripoli. fleet week is officially underway as of yesterday, and there are just so many activities. as we all well know, every year when it comes to fleet week. but as you
5:52 am
mentioned, the focus today is on safety. here to talk to us more about that is kim bowman. kim is the assistant deputy director of san francisco's department of emergency management. it's a long, long title there. good morning to you, kim. happy fleet week. happy fleet week. thanks for having me. well, talk to us about this annual partnership between the city of san francisco, the navy and the marine corps. how do you partner together and prepare for a catastrophic event? yeah. so we have the unique opportunity during fleet week to test the city's plans and partnership with the navy and the marine corps and, and practice how we work together to provide humanitarian assistance to san francisco after a catastrophic natural disaster, like an earthquake. so, so for this year, we're going to focus on our ability to bring our disaster service workers, which are city employees, back into san francisco, and our first responders, while after a major earthquake, while the bridges are being inspected, or if the
5:53 am
bridges have been damaged from the earthquake. so we're bringing staff in from on ferries from different parts of the bay area outside of san francisco. and that is a lot of coordination. we're going to see that drill later this morning that will start. the different drills will start at six, starting at six. yes. and we're and we're also going to focus on route reopening. so clearing debris off the roadways. we're neutralizing the debris. so all the roadways are open in san francisco. but we're working on how we can partner with the military to bring their assets in to assist us with with doing this work. all right. and so that is really kind of the focus of today. but as many people know, fleet week, they look for the blue angels. they look for the parade of ships. talk to us about all the fun activities as well, before we have to go here. yeah. so this week, of course, friday through sunday is the big air show over on the marina green on the north side of town. but there are many other events. you can also tour the uss tripoli that we're on right
5:54 am
here. we're in the area where the tour begins, but you will see all the ins and outs of the ship. and while you're waiting in line, they're going to have different apparatus that you can check out, talk to sailors, talk to soldiers, and ask all the questions you have and see the equipment that they have. yeah. the marine corps band is playing at the honor your fallen concert on thursday night, which is i go every year. it's wonderful. we heard them the last time that i was that i was covering fleet week. that was a party already in the morning. kim, i know we're going to have to cut it short, but we're going to see more of you later as well as talk more about fleet week and see more of the uss tripoli when we come back in the next, in the next hour there will we hope to see some drills underway. so for now, we'll send it back to you guys, marcus and laura. happy fleet week. same to you, ginger. thanks. hey, and don't forget. nbc bay area is the place you can get all things fleet week on our website. you can find the entire list of events. just head over to the trending bar and select sf fleet week guide, or
5:55 am
simply search for fleet week on the website. mobile web, or your app. it's all at nbcbayarea.com vianey. of course you've been monitoring all this. you just saying this really has been perfect for fleet week, especially anything in the sky. it really has. i mean, you saw just how clear the skies were, and i was just telling mike that i've been seeing folks who live in san francisco having a great time with the warmth in san francisco that they're not used to, you know, barbecues in the backyard and things like that. currently, we're going to start to see that cool down already underway. and if you notice, we've got 50s and 60s and the 24 hour temperature change about ten degrees cooler right now in san francisco. so what can we expect for your daytime highs. well, this is by about 12:00. look at the interior. still some warmth there. we've got 91 degrees in brentwood. we've got dublin at about 86, oakland in the 70s. and then peak heat today will still bump up near the triple digits for the interior areas. that's the areas that are kind of still under that heat advisory until about 7:00. now, one good news though that you're going to, i think,
5:56 am
look forward to if you live in the interior, is just how much cooler we're going to be for tomorrow. just to give you a sneak peak at 10 a.m, we're going to be in the 60s and the 70s, so let's talk about the reason behind it. so as that high pressure moves out, look what's developing out in the pacific. so just to our north we've got a low pressure system. and that cold front is going to bring us a chance of not only seeing cooler weather ahead, but also some shower activity. so let's take a look at how the water rainier is doing. we're already at the start of it. we are in a deficit so far, so if we do get some rain on saturday, that's going to be the first of the season. look at the deficit. so far for santa rosa. so we're not too far behind. but we're not up there just yet. so hopefully we do start to see some changes here as far as percentages of normal for this time of year, your san francisco 7-day forecast looks great. by thursday, we're going to see the return of the fog as well, likely even into wednesday morning. developing overnight, i think heading into friday and saturday, the 70s are going to be a welcome sight for inland areas. mike, how are those roads

doing? vianey we still have a couple of crashes this alert continues eastbound. it looks like the sensors might be lighting up, but still. reports of two lanes blocked, counter commute. the distraction that slows your westbound commute. so about a mile of slowing. total both directions heading through pinole. watch that for i-80. the rest of the east bay pretty, pretty pretty typical except for the bay bridge, which does have a good deal of slowing. look at that. across the span, there is a crash at fifth. it's just got cleared from lanes, but that did cause those metering lights to slow down. there's the backup. back to you all right. thanks, mike. well, happening now, get ready to shell out more for your chance to strike it rich. mega millions ticket prices will more than double next year, beginning in april. each pick will cost you $5. now, that's an increase from the current $2. mega millions says that the chance will result in bigger jackpots more frequently
