going to have a virtual reality dome setup that allows you to immerse yourself into like a marine like training experience. the air show, again, is today, and tomorrow it starts at 1230. the angels are expected to fly around three, so drum roll please. cinthia pimentel joins us for a look at our microclimate forecast. hopefully not cloudy skies. it's looking a little cloudy for today. so that will kind of limit how high they can fly. of course i'm sure they're already taking those reports and we'll have word later on today. but i wouldn't expect some of those higher up in the sky kind of, you know, shows and spins that they do because of the change that we're looking at. and you can see it through our cameras. we are starting off with the gloomy skies through santa rosa, pleasanton, south city, san francisco and some mid 50s to start our day. it's a weak front that is starting to move from north to parts of the bay area.

here. very light returns that we're seeing on our satellite and radar. just enough to get a little bit of a drizzle on your windshield through parts of the sonoma coast. we've seen some in bodega bay, and it just has been light through parts of 101, in santa rosa and windsor, and we'll keep it pretty light as we take it hour by hour. here for you. not enough to bring the umbrella hunkering down situation. it will just be a cloudy day. some light returns at times as we take it through the afternoon. the second half of the bay area. you could be in for a little bit more of that sunshine as we go through the afternoon, but overall everybody should be in for a cool down. remember last weekend when we were talking about those triple digit temperatures? what a crazy swing. now we've got look at those returns. maybe a 10th of an inch if we're lucky to squeeze that out up in santa rosa through parts of mill valley and the half moon bay coast, but really staying dry for today. but that cloud ceiling definitely something to watch with the blue angels and the faa and everybody else involved as far as our

temperatures will stay right around. seasonable for san jose, 7778 down in gilroy. we will keep the 70s through parts of oakland. low 70s there, mid 70s as we take it on in through parts of vallejo and down through danville. livermore. only a high of 79 for today. it will be a cooler beach day for you. 64, in half moon bay, mid 70s there in redwood city. and look at these microclimates in the city alone. 62 outer sunset 59. the marina 65 downtown. so the lower cloud ceiling not allowing the light to penetrate, penetrate through and of course that sunshine to warm the surface up into the north bay. those cooler numbers, because of that weak cold front. so we'll keep it in some 60s and some low 70s through wine country. i see a little bit of a better day, some more clearing as we go on into fleet week for tomorrow and temperatures a little higher there. and even if you're sticking around for monday, i think that will also allow you a chance of some more sunshine. we'll see another system possibly swing in here for

is a stressful time for them, but also for their parents. fortunately, there is a new fast growing group that's there to help. today in the bay garvin thomas has their story in this morning's bay area. proud. we need to take this journey with hope that we can help our kids. the very first meetings organized by the chai with moms nonprofit were not this big. so i'll just give you a little bit of introduction about us. back then, barely a year ago, it was just a handful of moms in the bay area. it's a pressure cooker, you know, in soma sengupta's living room. of course. now, not a living room around could contain all of the group's members. not even like from five mothers who were part of that initial group to 1500. this movement, and there's really no other word for it,

began when soma, aparna topalli and xiao lee choudhury got together over yes chai to talk about life and share insights and experiences navigating the confusing world of college admissions for their children. any of you know your friends? as more and more other mothers heard what was going on, they wanted in too. the group had tapped into something that apparently was in great demand. they're discovering that actually there are people very similar to themselves in the neighborhood they live in, going through the same you know, experiences and pain. but everyone's like marching along, pretending like everything is fine. so we are offering them an opportunity, a platform to come together and actually say, gosh, it's okay to not know everything. and there's somebody just like me out here. chai with moms open to mothers of middle and high school students, discuss topics like picking the right counselors or how much a

good tutor might cost. i can see a mother here who's completely surprised by those numbers. the group's founders say they expect to grow even more. last month, 250 moms attended the group's first ever conference with panels featuring mental health experts and current college students welcome on their weekly ask us anything video calls regularly draw in close to 100 participants. this is not something that we had planned or devised. it sort of people came to us and said, you know, there's so much value, there's so much information we get from you. i think it created for a safe space where people could open up and speak openly, share their fears, their concerns. wow. garvin thomas thanks for that story. i'm going to be with that group in about five years from now. 727 we have much more ahead for you on today in the bay. coming up, a long road to recovery from the fury of hurricane milton. hundreds of homes destroyed, millions without power. we are on the

san jose. a beautiful morning for the south bay. when the north bay saw a little bit of drizzle. this morning. thank you so much for starting your weekend with us. i'm kira klapper cinthia pimentel has a peek at that true microclimate forecast for us, and hopefully things can clear up a little. look at it behind you. look right behind me. even some slick roads there through the golden gate bridge. all of that overcast and that drizzle being met with people up towards the north bay. the returns barely making a dent here in our satellite and radar through parts of guerneville, up towards ukiah and clear lake. some very light rain that we can expect for that part of the bay area. if you are south and east, you could be met with some more sunshine later on. for today and for tomorrow. fingers and toes crossed for that decreasing cloud cover for the grand show of the blue angels in the city. we'll walk you through that, of course, and we'll also talk about what's ahead for next week. another chance of maybe

some juicier moisture coming our way. so we'll talk about that in a few minutes. kara, back to you. all right, cynthia, we'll see you soon. thanks. the devastation across the southeast continues to mount, following back to back hurricanes helene and then milton. people now bracing themselves as rivers continue to rise, creating a new flood threat. nbc's sam brock reports from florida. with flood waters rising to dangerous levels. come over here, sir. you got to come to me. urgent rescues near tampa. got it. sheriff's deputies carrying this 91 year old woman to safety after her home was surrounded by water. this looks like a boat ramp. this is an entrance into a neighborhood. there's cars underwater. some homes are completely underwater. all you see is the apex of the house. among those rescued, 135 disabled elderly residents who had evacuated to this area while on the opposite coast in port orange. it looked like we were in the middle of a lake. like there was water in every

direction as far as you could see. officials say hundreds of people have been rescued since hurricane milton roared ashore wednesday night. the death toll from the storm has now risen to at least 17. more than 2 million homes and businesses remain without power. even gas is still hard to find, with long lines at stations that haven't, and some of the hardest hit communities are inaccessible. this little stretch of land, there's a bay right here on the other side you can see manasota key. there is incredibly extensive damage there. residents just want to get over and see what shape their property is in. it's the one thing they can't do right now with feet of sand and debris and crews trying to restore electricity. charlotte county officials tell us it's not safe for anyone to be there right now. it's numbing. it's been numb for the last two weeks. peter hageman and rod nibert both live on the key with their families and rent properties to vacationers. this is everything i have in the world. so to lose all that, i lose my retirement.

also has scheduled visits in several other blue leaning states like colorado, illinois and new york. meanwhile, vice president kamala harris is on the campaign trail in the battleground state of arizona, and some big names are helping her. coming off the heels of his speech in pittsburgh, pennsylvania, on thursday, former president barack obama will campaign for harris in arizona next week and also for months, attacks have been escalating between two democrats vying for a coveted bay area house congressional seat. that back and forth came to a head right here in our nbc bay area studios last night when we hosted a debate for the two candidates battling to fill the seat being vacated by peninsula congresswoman anna eshoo. the candidates, former san jose mayor sam liccardo and assemblyman evan lowe, talked about different topics making their case for your vote today in the bay's gia vang has the

story. decision 2024 the race for california's district 16. right out of the gate. a very direct question and some very accusatory answers, as sam liccardo and evan lowe were asked if they're running an ethical campaign. for months, the two have traded accusations over campaign funding, a controversial recount and track records. former san jose mayor liccardo with a softer voice because he's recovering from laryngitis, and assembly member lowe, both on the attack. we should agree on one basic principle every vote should be counted. every vote should be counted, and we can agree on that. except evan lowe. i know we're going to talk about many of these different issues, but it is important that we're talking about our records, not just rhetoric. the debate for the 16th congressional district seat was hosted by nbc bay area at our studios, along with telemundo 48 and kqed radio. it covered a wide range of issues, from the israel-hamas war to immigration, homelessness, tech and crime. the candidates weaving jabs into their answers

early and often. i have to tell you about this fuzzy math 200 -500 equals -300. sam, you still owe the city of san jose and its residents 300 police officers for the devastation that you did. i think it's more important to be smart on crime. and when i led san jose, i left the city with the lowest homicide rate of any major city in the united states. the candidates also touched on proposition 36, a statewide ballot measure that would make it easier to increase penalties for drug and retail theft crimes. i'm not in support. i refuse to go back to the era of mass incarceration. arrest does not mean incarceration. what we need is accountability. liccardo at times calling out what he says is a lack of leadership from lowe at the state level. while lowe spent time hitting liccardo on what he says was failed leadership in his time as mayor of san jose. there's certainly no love lost between these two candidates. we don't have a lot of polling in a race like this, but there was a poll about a month ago, an independent poll that showed that 40% of voters in this district were still undecided. jackson calling this debate a draw. while both candidates think they did what

night. north beach drawing large crowds, including service members enjoying a night out in the city. the energy in the area, a prelude of what's to come this weekend, with more than 1 million people heading into the city to watch the blue angels go on boat tours, do all of the fun parts of fleet week. the first show took place yesterday afternoon, drawing large crowds, many of whom already gathered on the marina green to take in the parade of ships. service members we found last night, said the fleet week experience is a moment they will never forget. like the president. like shaking a lot of hands, everyone saying thank you for your service and i have. i actually felt kind of important and i was like, wow, this is awesome. we go explore like little towns and everything. so it's pretty nice. the people are nice, the food is amazing. restaurants in san francisco are seeing an uptick in business with fleet week organizers

to start the weekend. a little bit of a different story though. up there in san rafael. those clouds starting to bubble up. it's a gloomy saturday morning, some sleeping in kind of weather as you drive further north. that's where some of our satellite and radar returns are picking up on some light rain through parts of the coast. there in marin county up towards santa rosa, but just very trace amounts of rain. and that will keep the cloud cover and the chance for some spotty rain through san francisco as well. it's a huge day there with fleet week. we're going to keep those mostly cloudy skies, temperatures on the cooler side for today, so that might limit just how high the blue angels can fly. i see it better though for tomorrow and we'll get to that in just a second. but we're going to keep the cloud cover through santa rosa. maybe you're going up there for the art and wine festival at courthouse square. i would bring a jacket as well as the temperatures are going to come down to below normal in those upper 60s there for three and four this afternoon. the rest of us will see a gradual and slow warming

trend up there through parts of wine country. vacaville still staying in the 60s, some low 70s as we make our way east and south. and that's where we'll keep it for this afternoon, as well as we see a high of 78 for san jose, 77 in concord, some low 70s around the inner bay and low 60s up towards the north bay. now, as we go on into tomorrow, we could be waking up with that marine layer for people that are getting ready to drive up into san francisco. but as we fast forward here for you, we do see some better clearing through parts of the city right there around the bay bridge with the blue angels flying high. so we'll hopefully see more clearing as these models come into agreement. and we go throughout the day on sunday. so tune back in here tomorrow morning to see what that would bring. overall, the next couple of days in san francisco, temperature wise, 60s and 70s. we'll watch for that fog tomorrow morning. i'm going to keep another chance of some rain. and this one could hold a little bit more moisture in it for wednesday. so middle of the

fighters and survivors often encounter menopausal symptoms sooner. commonly, the result of difficult chemotherapy treatments. new. this morning, one bay area based care clinic is focusing on alternative cancer treatments, hoping to minimize those menopausal symptoms. 1 in 8 women develop breast cancer. that amounts to 250,000 women per year, more than 4 million americans are breast cancer survivors. los altos based virtual care clinic middy health focuses on women older than 40. they focus on how the effects from chemo often lead to early onset menopause, which they say can still be treated effectively. menopausal hormone therapy is the most effective treatment, but there are many, many others that have been looked at and can be found to be very effective to treat.

for treating things like hot flashes and night sweats and sleep difficulties. the chief officer doctor goldman, says a patient's age can often determine whether side effects will be temporary or worse. the most important thing she reiterates, is to talk with an expert. min recently launched its own clinic focused on exclusively alternative treatments that can limit those menopausal side effects. a big turn now to the bay area's first wnba team officially has named its fearless leader. the golden state valkyries announced natalie nakase as its new coach. the former player turned coach is coming from the las vegas aces, spending the last three years there as the first assistant coach. the wnba will hold an expansion draft in december, where the valkyries will start building their roster. the team is playing at chase center in san francisco and will kick off its inaugural season in may. we look forward

to it. after beating the kings in their preseason opener wednesday night in sacramento, the warriors were looking to make it two in a row last night. this time, the game was at chase center. warriors fans got their first look at the newly hired head coach of the valkyries. as mentioned, natalie nakase. as for the game, the warriors got a strong effort from moses moody. moody, who is hoping to earn more playing time this season, led all scorers with 23 points. the warriors win 109 to 106. now to the san jose sharks. prized rookie macklin celebrini. he is still up in the air whether he will play tonight. he missed practice yesterday because of what his coach calls a lower body injury. but thursday, he played the first national hockey game of his career, scoring one goal and assisting on another. again, it's not clear whether he will be able to play in tonight's home game against the anaheim ducks. trending this

just stick right here for your local news with us on today in the bay at seven. here is a quick look at the top stories. we're following people in florida already suffering from the disastrous effects of hurricanes. helene and milton are now waiting to see if another flood threat will impact them this weekend. and developing overnight, the number of confirmed deaths now stands at 17. there are still an estimated 1.9 million people without power. president biden says fema has enough resources and funding to respond. he says he will ask congress to approve more relief. and back here locally, several bay area counties are bringing back mask requirements at health care facilities. it's all meant to reduce the spread of flu, covid and other respiratory viruses from late fall until next spring. contra costa, san mateo and napa counties are among the many issuing the mandate for health care workers. but in santa clara and san mateo counties, the requirement extends to hospital visitors. the order runs from november 1st
