says it has increased staffing and set up staging areas for quick repairs. these crew members will be patrolling by foot by air, making sure that there's nothing on the lines, no vegetation, no debris that could potentially spark when we turn power back on. meteorologist kari hall is tracking when those high winds are expected to move in. so when are we talking about kari? we're expecting it to really start to ramp up later on this evening, but it may be sooner for san francisco, as we are going to see those winds increasing as we go throughout the day. and we are also going to see this system dropping in, giving us a few clouds early. but overall, it's helping to create that pressure gradient across the region. with that area of low pressure to our north and high pressure building off to our west as far as temperatures today, it's going to be a nice one. our highs in the upper 60s and low 70s from san francisco into the south bay, and then for the inland east bay. it will be in the
5:03 am
upper 70s up to 77, in martinez and in fairfield and then going into the day tomorrow, it's going to be slightly warmer, but also very windy. and that red flag warning will begin at 11:00 this evening for pretty much the entire bay area, with the exclusion of the marin county coastline and parts of the sonoma county coast. as well as up towards mendocino. but pretty much all of the bay area is going to see some high winds and very low humidity into the overnight hours, which increases our fire danger. and any sparks may spread very rapidly. so we'll talk more about these conditions and what's ahead for the weekend. that's coming up in the full microclimate forecast. sounds good. we'll look forward to it. kari and keeping up with the weather has never been easier with the nbc bay area app. we're debuting a redesigned weather experience and it's a great way to get your local weather your way from the people you know. be sure to download the nbc bay area app today. turning now to decision 2024.

5:09 am
what? what were they thinking? it must have felt like the end of the world. the cal academy shake house is open to the public every day, but also today uc berkeley is hosting a simulator and it's offering tours at the hayward fault on campus, along with other offerings. mayor london breed and congressman kevin mullin will present the proposed earthquake resilience act. this is at pier nine in san francisc, and bart will trigger a shake alert app in order to test emergency response. now that is all happening at 1017 this morning. we should all get an alert on our phones. and there are some misfires that we saw last year, so of course we'll be watching to see how everything goes today. let's take a live look for you out in san jose this morning. meteorologist kari hall has been tracking what we can expect, and we're certainly getting ready for what mother nature will bring our way. kari. yeah, we will see those winds picking up as we go into the afternoon. red flag warning. in effect, that means that we will see some critically low humidity
5:10 am
and gusty winds. and pretty much all of the bay area is going to be under that threat, as we will have to be very careful looking at our hour by hour wind gusts. here we are at 5:00 this evening and we're already seeing 20 to 35 mile per hour winds. and near the coast, the wind is going to be stronger. half moon bay, 36 mile per hour winds that get even stronger during the overnight hours around midnight. we're seeing a lot of purple here, which indicates some strong winds, and they'll be at about 40 to 45mph for san francisco. that continues through early tomorrow and throughout the day. and then eventually the winds will relax as we head into saturday afternoon. but with these gusty winds and low humidity, there will be that possibility that any fires that do start with the extremely dry vegetation may spread very quickly. so we need to be prepared and we're going to talk about what's ahead for the weekend coming up. mike has a look at where we can fill up

before you hit the road. yeah. but with those sprinkles yesterday, maybe you need a car wash. so in concord, you head to clayton gas and wash on clayton road in the city of concord. despite the name, that's the bay's best, which continues to be 389. they're a different car wash in the south bay there. best buy is 3.99. that's cupertino, car wash on north deanza boulevard. the last prize. same best price in marin county. mill valley's arco on redwood highway. i don't think they have a car wash there, but you can find one nearby. i'm sure you go to gasbuddy.com to find the nearest gas deal for you on the roadways. we're looking at a smooth flow of traffic right now. early start to folks driving throughout the bay. no major issues even at the top of the screen. highway 37 has no delays, and a live look at the bay bridge a clear view. contrary to yesterday, kari talked about those winds drying things out for causing an issue this morning. so watch for those high fire danger creeping up on us later on today. back to you. all right. speaking of creeping up, mike, holiday shopping is creeping up on us. shoppers want to shop. they just want to know
5:12 am
they're getting those good deals. ahead for you here on today in the bay. the reason many of us may be ready to spend more this year and how you can actually get the best deals out there. what about paying off debt, though? there's been a milestone reached in the forgiveness of student debt. we'll talk about that

all clear. we do have lots of sunshine coming in. a cool start with mid 50s at 8:00 and then headed for the low 70s for this afternoon, and increasing wind for the evening. it's going to be windy these next few days, so we'll take a look at that and our temperatures in the full microclimate forecast. and i'm showing you the drive here through oakland by the coliseum. the nimitz has no problems. but just off the nimitz the bart station, if you're going to bart or the connector to the airport for oakland, there is an interruption in that service. you'll use ac transit bus 73 and may add some time onto your drive to your ride there. so prepare. if you're heading early to the airport. well, glad i'm not in that. good morning and a very happy thursday to you. new records on the stock market. the second time this week. netflix and los gatos reports its numbers after the closing bell. the stock is up more than 130% in two years. partly or maybe mostly because of that crackdown on passwords. does this still have room to run? we'll see.

electric car maker lucid returning to the public market with a secondary offering. that is, it's going to raise more money by simply printing up more shares and selling them. investors hate this because their shares are then diluted. it's like inviting more people to your party after you've ordered the pizza. each person is going to get less pizza. invite once and then that's a better way of doing it. secondary offerings going back to the, well, fairly rare. you know who does it? fairly often is elon musk and tesla after its ipo in 2010, tesla did it again in 2012, 2013, 2019 and 2020. speaking of elon musk, his spacex company filed a lawsuit wednesday against the california coastal commission, which is limiting the number of rocket launches spacex can make from vandenberg air force base. spacex says commissioners made the restrictions because they're upset at the sort of things that musk tweets through his other

company, company x, those commissioners have been critical, indeed, and that brings up first amendment questions. can a government agency take action over what someone said or typed? there's a bigger question. does the coastal commission have the authority to stop rocket launches at all? the commission says yes, because spacex is a private company, not nasa. teamsters in san francisco filed a complaint against the self-driving company waymo, owned by google. waymo, it says, is violating rules when it tries to map out. sfo. teamsters represents, among other things, bus drivers and a milestone for student loan forgiveness. the white house will announce today more than a million former students who went on to jobs in public service, like police officer, firefighter, teacher, have had their loans forgiven after ten years. more than that had their loans taken out for shady schools forgiven. and then one and a half got in under that save program before. republican states sued to stop it. both

parties, like the idea of the public service forgiveness, because those jobs don't tend to pay as well as private companies. and so if we can encourage more people to get, you know, here's an encouragement. go be a teacher. yeah, that would be that would be really good. it is. i like that. all right. thank you. 517 for you this morning. so if you are looking to manage your holiday spending, all experts say is start with a budget and start early. so this year there are just 27 days between thanksgiving and christmas. and that means three fewer days to shop than past years. now, while the national retail federation forecast holiday spending could possibly see a 3.5% increase from last year, analysts say that they are seeing what they call stretch theory. that's when shoppers are okay with spending. so as long as they're getting a good deal, 58% of shoppers actually want to shop and spend more and buy more gifts if they feel like they're getting a good deal. so it's really less about saving that money and keeping the dollars in your pocket and stretching the dollars and stretch theory and kind of
5:19 am
getting more bang for your buck. bella also recommends stacking your savings by shopping for discounts and using price comparison tools, just to make sure you're getting the best deal. then, when you decide to buy, use a cash back app and a credit card that gives you points to get the most bang out of your buck. now, here are some interesting shopping trends that we're seeing from a rakuten survey. 59% of gen z asked. well, they said that they will spend less on others in order to buy something for themselves. oh wow. yeah, that's not selfish at all. 54% of all shoppers downplay how much they spend, and 20% of those shoppers say that they buy gifts for people. they don't want to buy for. okay, so do you fall in line with one of these groups actually posted a poll on x to see what you think. and right now most people say sometimes they buy gifts for people they don't want to buy for, and then others just say, nope, not me. i don't do that. so we're living in such a selfish society. you
5:20 am
didn't have that poll about, do you buy things for yourself more than other people? oh, i'm not going to answer if i'm not asked to. well, the gift we always give you all, and it is free. that forecast for you. meteorologist kari hall has that. yeah. thank you for the gift. okay, well, you know, it'. you don't want to give it to me. she's like, not this forecast. absolutely. kari. we've been talking about how windy it's going to be and the wind starts to really pick up later on tonight. so the red flag warning starts at 11 p.m, and the worst of those high winds will continue into tomorrow morning. and the top area that we'll have to monitor will be the hills and the mountains above 500ft. this weekend there will be slightly less wind, but the last rainmaker, the significant rain that we had was may 4th, where we had at least a half inch of rainfall. and so because of the high wind, the low humidity pg&e is saying we're going to shut
5:21 am
off power to some of our customers. and if you haven't already, sign up for those alerts. you would have already received an alert by now to let you know if you're in this area that may possibly have your power shut off, and it will last for several days, so be prepared for that possibility. we're looking at temperatures that will be heading into the low 70s for today, 71 for morgan hill. it's going to be really nice and comfortable. and then for parts of the east bay, we're going to see those temperatures topping out at 77 for walnut creek and concord 73 in livermore. and we're also going to be in the low 70s for parts of the peninsula with san mateo today looking at a high of 70 degrees. and for san francisco, it will be in the upper 60s and low seconds. breezy winds pick up there, and it will also be nice and mild for the north bay. but you'll notice that as the day goes on, the wind will start to increase and once again, that red flag warning for the bay area begins at 11:00. with those gusty winds and low humidity. so what is a red flag warning? it's
5:22 am
issued 12 to 24 hours in advance of seeing conditions where relative humidity drops at 15% or less, and we're expecting wind gusts that could exceed 25mph. both of these criteria have to happen at the same time, and then we are seeing those conditions that may create those very risky fire conditions that we'll see into the weekend. temperature wise, we're going from mid 70s today for many of the inland areas to low 80s, slightly warmer temperatures continue into next week. and for san francisco, 71 will be that high today but mid 70s expected throughout the weekend as it will be gusty with 45 plus mile per hour winds. and mike, you're seeing a calm commute on the roads right now. right now it's early, so a light volume of traffic folks are able to get to and across the bay bridge without any problems. no wind advisories from chp, but they may throw those in as conditions continue to change. this morning we're looking at the conditions slowing a bit out of vallejo.

traditional at mare island, and no slowing. oh, there you go. a blip or two for highway four. so we already have that volume starting to shift in contra costa county. everywhere else outside of the altamont pass, showing a smooth green sensor. back to you. thanks, mike. this morning many across the bay area and the world are remembering pop star liam payne. ahead, new information on the tragic death of the former one direction member and a look at the way the

5:32 am
warning going into effect and kari going into more depth. more in depth into that in just a minute. but this is really because 2017 years like 2017 caught a lot of people by surprise, especially people here in the north or in the north of here, which is in sonoma county. if you recall, there's the tubbs fire and the nuns fire that wreaked havoc in the north bay. and that is really what firefighters and different agencies are hoping to avoid. now, later this morning at 1030, we do expect to get an update from pg&e on possible public safety power shutoffs and its impact here in the bay area. now, the north bay are also bracing themselves. it was an october 7th years ago that the tubbs fire broke out. and you're seeing some video from that fire. it caught a lot of people by surprise. and it was consequential. a spokesperson for santa rosa fire, however, tells us things have changed for the better. 2017 really caught a lot of people off guard. the

situation awareness wasn't there, the preparedness level wasn't there. but when you look at an event like today and this week with the red flag warning, you know that we've got additional staffing plans in place. we have a community that understands what alert and warnings are. so we do have some updated numbers for you this morning from pg&e. as of this morning, 20,000 customers are on alert because pg&e has actually taken that number down by 10,000 customers. now, though, 20,000 still includes around 8000 customers here scattered across the bay area in alameda, contra costa, napa, solano and sonoma counties. pg&e has removed nine counties from their psps list, but none here locally. pg&e warns it is best to prepare now, and that means charge your electronics, charge your electric vehicle if you have one, make sure you have fresh batteries and flashlights as
5:34 am
well. now that is a bit of good news here this morning. pg&e says that they did take their potential customers down because of favorable weather conditions. i know we'll get more from kari on that in a minute, but pg&e says they have increased their staffing and they are setting up staging areas for quick repairs and for restoring power. so there is that preparedness as a consequence of the lessons that have been learned from the past. we're live in mill valley, ginger conejero saab. today in the bay. thank you very much, ginger. now let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. she's been monitoring these upcoming conditions. how are we looking, kari? well, we just need to be prepared. and at this point, you're just like. okay, we know the high winds are coming. the low humidity is coming. so at that point, we just need to make sure we're ready for whatever. and the four pg&e, they're saying these counties will be included in that psps watch. and the possibility of turning off the power, at least in some areas. it's not everyone in the county. and if you're signed up
5:35 am
for those alerts, then you will have already have gotten an alert to let you know that you're in that possibility. now we're looking at highs today that are headed for the upper 60s and low 70s, and it will be in the mid to upper 70s. for the north bay. we are seeing cooler temperatures behind that cold front that moved through yesterday brought us some spotty rain. but as we go through the rest of the forecast, we are going to have more of those high winds, mainly for those upper elevations above 500ft. and those gusts may top 50mph with low relative humidity that continues overnight, dropping down below 15%. so as a reminder, we've made it easier for you to follow weather in your neighborhood with our nbc bay area app, we've debuted a redesigned weather experience, and you can download that on the nbc bay area app today, where you get your local apps. it's free and available for all smart devices. and mike, some crews are clearing from the golden gate bridge. that's right. kari. we're looking at some lower

happened in 2018. the woman claims this was in retaliation for comments she made implicating diddy was involved in the murder of tupac shakur. this allegedly happened during a facetime call, and she claims the music mogul heard those comments. she says in 2018, a mutual friend invited her to his apartment in orinda. she says diddy entered the home, threatened her with a knife before he and other defendants in the case sexually assaulted her. she is suing for $50 million. we spoke with a legal expert about the numerous lawsuits diddy is facing. the best way to do that is to start with the law enforcement investigation at the time, and to give the complaining party access to that information. the woman's attorney says the victim reported the incident to a contra costa county sheriff's deputy the night of the alleged assault. they have been denied police reports unless there was a subpoena. the sheriff's

department confirms a report was taken, but it was later determined the claims were unfounded. the lawsuit claims the incident was also reported to walnut creek and orinda police. a walnut creek spokesperson says after thoroughly investigating the matter, the police department did not have any involvement in the case. we reached out to orinda police for comment but have yet to hear back. 5.38 right now in santa clara county school board appointing an interim superintendent during a closed session last night, the board named charles hinman as the interim superintendent. now he's replacing mary ann dewan, who was removed without cause two weeks ago. the board has yet to give a reason for her firing. now that move came a few months after nbc bay area first investigated complaints that the office of education misused some federal head start funds while dewan was in charge. the judge denied dewan's request to get her job back, stating that the board had the authority to terminate her. it is 539 on your thursday morning. taking a live look outside. nice. look at downtown san jose this morning.

carrie's got her eyes on the forecast for us. a little peek at maybe some outdoor activities for us. yeah, absolutely. let's kick it off with some football. san jose state on friday night or friday afternoon rather, will start out with temperatures in the mid 70s. and then we'll see it warming up into the upper 70s. and look at how windy it's going to be. we're looking at gusts at about 20 to 25mph throughout the game. and then on saturday we have the cal game and it's going to be really nice throughout the evening as our temperatures drop down to the low 70s, we're still going to see some of those breezy winds throughout the day, but improving by saturday night. and if you're going to sausalito on saturday, just a heads up that it's also going to be quite gusty there for the toast of sausalito festival, we are going to see temperatures throughout the day headed for the mid to upper 70s there, and a lot of sunshine throughout the day. really nice. and of course we have to go to some of the pumpkin patches this weekend. only a couple of more weeks left

before halloween and the half moon bay art and pumpkin festival this weekend. we'll have some gorgeous weather. still a little breezy on saturday, but we're looking at highs in the low 70s there and upper 60s for sunday, and that's a live look at palisades tahoe this morning. if you're going to the cierra, it's going to be a little chilly with those overnight lows below freezing and those highs in the low to mid 50s. mike you got a crash now in the south bay. yeah that's right. that's new on our blotter here at the bottom of the screen right there. north 101 near the 85 split i believe that connector is open, but near the split there is a crash blocking your fast lane. no slowing shows up just yet. just got on the grid there. meanwhil, right now we're seeing that typical slowing from 280 up to oakland road for northbound 101 through san jose, and a little blip here and there as more traffic comes in out of south county, there is some slowing still northbound 680 right around now we know we have overnight road work there. there wasn't any extended closure, but the crews may be in the area. so

i'll check on the latest status from caltrans. but coming in out of the altamont pass, it's fine. a build over here through the castro valley, y and hayward for southbound 880. typical patterns over there. now off the nimitz freeway tonight we warned about ice activity on the ice here at oakland arena. disney on ice begins their run through the weekend. so do note that there will be show times this evening and tomorrow evening. so there may be some folks unfamiliar with the area slowing near the exits there as you're heading home from work. meanwhile, getting to work a smooth drive. typical here. highway four through concord out of pittsburgh, and we're looking at highway 242 with the continued slowing there, heading down toward pleasant hill 37, the upper east shore freeway. pretty standard build. same thing with. we typically see speeds as crews head on to the eastbound deck of that richmond-san rafael bridge. no surprise there. and the bay bridge does show the backup right on schedule. some flashing lights. i'll check out what that is. it doesn't look like a major problem. back to you. thanks so much, mike. 542 for you this morning. are you looking to have some of the best food in america? well ahead for you here
5:43 am

5:46 am
at san francisco and what to expect. today, lots of sunshine and breezy winds. we're starting out in the upper 50s at 8:00 and staying in the 60s again for today. it's going to be a cool afternoon, but once that wind picks up, it's going to make it feel even more chilly as we go into the weekend. we're watching out for our elevated fire danger. we'll talk about that coming up in a few minutes and causing more slowing. in san jose, you see this shot of northbound 101? just a bit to the north. we're hearing about a crash that has these folks in their cars slowing because of folks that are getting out of their cars. a little to the north will sort out the south bay build coming up. perfect. we'll check back with you. thanks. kari and mike. it's 546 right now. vice president harris appeared on fox news for a sit down interview with anchor bret baier. scott mcgrew. of course, fox is foreign territory for harris. yeah it is. so at this point, the candidates are really
5:47 am
reaching out to anybody they can find. harris is campaigning with republicans. she did that yesterday before appearing on fox news. trump speaking to an all women audience and then a hispanic audience. here's harris with the central question how is your presidency going to be any different than your boss's? my presidency will not be a continuation of joe biden's presidency. and like every new president that comes in to office, i will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences, and fresh and new ideas. i represent a new generation of leadership. the interview did get contentious from time to time, but reporters are supposed to ask hard questions and then pin the person into answering it. that is how a good interview is done. politicians don't want to answer the question. pathway to citizer the. yes, ma'am. may i finish? may i finish responding, please? but you have to let me finish, please. the white house and the
5:48 am
house and the senate. and they didn't bring up responding to the point you're raising. and i'd like to finish. yes, ma'am. trump also on fox in a much friendlier town hall with an all women audience, a group he's had trouble convincing. he claimed to be the father of ivf. that's not at all true. and said some state's abortion laws are too restrictive. he also spoke to spanish speaking americans on univision. hispanics again, not his strong point, particularly since trump plans mass deportations. speaking through an interpreter, a farmhand asked trump, if you deport millions of people, who's going to pick the broccoli like this? suggested deportation. a esta quién haria ese trabajo? y qué precio podriamos por la comida? the problem we have is we had people coming in under my administration, and they were coming in legally. they were coming in through a system that we had, which was great because i'm the best thing that ever happened to farmers. you know, that i was great. you know, farmers are doing very badly right now, very, very badly
5:49 am
under this administration, under my administration, farmers did very well. we have to have a lot of people come into our country. we just want them to come in legally through a system because they've released hundreds of thousands of people that are murderers. now, no trump never answered the question, nor did the moderator step in. trump would later go on to say most of the immigrants coming in were from mental institutions, and in his word, insane asylums. those are a step above mental institutions, he said. there's no evidence of that. president biden is headed to germany, a trip he put off so he could oversee hurricane response. now he'll meet with the chancellor there, but also has discussions with the french president and the british prime minister. the bbc reports the reception that biden will receive in berlin will rival ronald reagan's tear down this wall visit. in 1987, french, british, german americans big military ceremony. marcus, they're sending a message. all right, there you
5:50 am
have it. scott. thank you. 549 for you right now and this morning, the south bay mobile repair shop stands accused of stealing more than two dozen tech devices. campbell police says on saturday it received a call about stolen laptops pinging at i-10 repair shop on south bascom avenue. police say that those items also listed for sale on its website. 549 right now, officers say the owners were aware the laptops were stolen. they intended to sell them after wiping the data before both were arrested. okay, extra in their office. officers also seized 29 boxes full of phones, tablets, laptops that are all suspected to be stolen. police are asking people to file a report if they had a device taken by the shop as they work to return the items to their rightful owners. okay, let's get to something fun here happening tomorrow. the father and daughter duo will be back on the screens. we have a sneak peek of season three of lopez versus lopez. or maybe not. if you
5:51 am
marry me. yes. yeah. get excited. there's going to be a wedding this season filled with laughs and some family spats and quarrels as they try to take control of those wedding plans. george lopez continues on the show to deal with his sobriety and the realities of getting older. i got the chance to talk to comedy legend george lopez and his costars salinas leyva, who play a divorced couple on the show. they say even if you haven't seen the previous season, you can still start watching brand new. you will know immediately that this is a story about a family. this is a story about love, sobriety, support, forgiveness and at the core of it is in mayan and george's relationship and how they are mending their relationship and how the whole family kind of helps in in that
5:52 am
recovery of this relationship. you can watch a new season of lopez versus lopez tomorrow night at 8:00 on nbc bay area and streaming on peacock. they have really good chemistry between the two of them. yeah, well, trending this morning, a lot of people already know this. oakland has a really great food scene and now the word is just getting out. conde nast traveler, a popular leisure magazine, released its readers choice awards and oakland voted as number one for best food cities. the publication tallied up more than 575,000 votes in its annual readers choice awards, and readers highlighted the city where food and culture are making an unforgettable dining experience. readers voted oakland to be the number one spot. conde nast highlighted the popular soul food spot bob redell. this is on telegraph. the famed taco truck and fruitvale and pizzaiolo in temescal neighborhood. the owner says that she's not surprised about the ranking because the food she makes is for the community. pizzaiolo is our love
5:53 am
letter to oakland, and we've we've been in the community for 20 years. i've always thought that oakland can meet san francisco in its culinary scene, and i think it's right on. pizzaiolo opens every day at 5 p.m. i think we here at today in the bay need to make a trip there, and i'll try some of that food. field trip done. absolutely. maybe we should do a instead of the 5 a.m. that would help us out. that was like a little late, but okay. all right. well, let's get started this morning. we have a lot to talk about in weather because we have more changes coming our way. yesterday it was cloudy. some of us were getting some light rain. well, now we're turning our attention to the red flag warning that begins later on this evening. we are going to see those winds really start to pick up with low humidity. and
5:54 am
the worst of that lasts through early tomorrow morning. the highest risk will be for those elevations above 500ft. and this weekend slightly less wind. but when we think about the last time we had a decent amount of rain here, that was may 4th, 126 days ago. so the vegetation is really dry. and we also have another system approaching from the north that's going to cause the wind to pick up even more as that low pressure to the north, we have high pressure developing out in the pacific, high and low pressure close together makes the wind flow very quickly and we're starting out with a calm wind and cool temperatures this morning. we're mostly in the 40s in the north bay. it's a chilly start. it's 50 in danville, 55 in san jose, and we're at 50 right now in los altos. but then as we go into the afternoon, we're headed for the low 70s 72 in cupertino and 71 in morgan hill. much of the east bay will be in the mid to upper 70s, a high of 79. in antioch and 72 in redwood city, half moon bay. in
5:55 am
the mid 60s. and for san francisco, it will be in the upper 60s and low 70s, and for the north bay upper 70s expected for this afternoon. the red flag warning with the high fire conditions, the high fire risk will begin later tonight and continue through saturday. so we're looking at relative humidity down at 15% or less and high wind gusts that will be frequently happening over 25mph. the criteria for red flag warning is that both of these happen at the same time, and that's what we're expecting throughout the weekend. in fact, even for san francisco this afternoon, we're going to start to see those winds picking up a breezy day for the valleys with san jose seeing those winds increasing late tonight, it's really once again late tonight into early tomorrow with those high winds for those upper elevations that could top 40 to 50mph. and then it will gradually start to calm down heading into saturday as our temperatures warm up. we're going to be in the low 80s
5:56 am
throughout the weekend for the inland areas, and then it looks much better for next week, but still a little on the warm side even for this time of year. and for san francisco, expect a high of 71 with gusty winds today. those high winds continue tomorrow into saturday as we make it up into the upper 70s there with sunshine into the weekend. so we do have a lot of changes here. make sure you download the nbc bay area app to track those changes. marcus. all right. thanks, gary. well, happening now california attorney general rob bonta trying to combat retail crime. he will hold a press conference highlighting ongoing efforts to prevent the crimes, including introducing new law enforcement, a bullet point and this is regarding new laws to stop organized retail thefts. that meeting is going to start at 1030 in sacramento with a dangerous fire conditions on the way. bay area residents could be left in the dark ahead at 6:00. we are breaking down which areas could see power outages and what you should do right now to be prepared. plus, a california man

if you have one. we want to make sure people have flashlights with fresh batteries instead of candles for safety reasons. right now at six, we are hours away from a red flag warning and possible power outages making way for looming fire danger for the bay area. our team tracking the incoming conditions, plus those shutoffs. today marks 35 years since the loma prieta earthquake rocked the bay area. but are you ready for the next big one? the steps being taken today to make sure all californians are prepared vying for new voters. vice president kamala harris sparring with fox in a sit down interview. this as trump holds an all female town hall. we are live from washington with more as election day nears. with now just 19 days to go. this is today in the bay.
