insisted he is their strongest ally. >> nobody loves our puerto rican community more than i do. nobody. it's interesting. because i've done more for puerto rico than any president by far. >> reporter: that response drawing scrutiny. during his time in office, former president trump received widespread criticism for how he handled hurricane relief efforts for puerto rico. tonight, both nominees have big events in wisconsin. former president trump will be in green bay with packers legend brett favre, while vice president harris will be joined by more musicians on the trail including mumford and sons and maisie abrams. >> the beginning of the end of their campaigning. okay, alice, thank you. former president trump also responded last night to president biden who quickly faced backlash after speaking on the latino voter outreach call. the president was reacting to the comments made at trump's new york rally about puerto rico, and he said this.

though the reason for the visit is unclear, it reenforces the deepening relationship between the two countries after north korea sent thousands of troops to russia to fight against ukraine. let's go live to claudio lavanga. good morning, claudio. >> reporter: good morning, frances. that's right. on tuesday, the pentagon confirmed that there are now north korean soldiers in russia, especially in the kursk region, which is that border area where ukraine launched a major incursion back in august, and they're still holding some of its territory. while nato said they are slowly moving toward the frontline. now the war frontline. now president biden said if they cross the border into ukraine that it will be fair game, and ukraine should strike back. similar reactions came from the ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy, who wrote on his x account that now the war has been internationalized and it extends well beyond the two countries. while south korean said the presence of north korean, if

north korean soldiers will join russian troops in the fight against ukraine, well, that will be a threat to their security as well. so they said if that happens, they will also supply weapons to ukraine. now, as we mentioned also, the north korean, both russia and north korean state media confirm that the north korean foreign minister traveled to russia for the second time in six weeks. we don't have a schedule. we don't know who she's going to meet, especially if she's going to meet with vladimir putin. bu but a lawmaker from south korean who was in a meeting with a spy agency said or told "the associated press" that he believes that she will be discussing the possibility of sending more north korean troops to russia to fight in ukraine and also to discuss what north korea will get in return. frances? >> thank you, claudio. >> reporter: the man who attacked former house speaker nancy pelosi's husband with a hammer has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

canadian david depape broke into the pelosi home over two yeears ago, attacking paul pelosi with a hammer, causing serious injuries. he was found guilty of aggravated kidnapping and first degree burglary. he had previously been sentenced to 30 years. a virginia au pair is pleading guilty. she agreed to work with prosecutors when they try her former posboss and romantic partner. banfield is accused of stabbing and killing his wife and a sex worker he lured to the home to frame for the murder. margulies will face up to ten years in prison. a suspect has been arrested after a standoff at the four seasons hotel in atlanta. police initially responded to a dispute between a man and a worker at the building. the man then barricaded himself in a residence, shooting from

the balcony and through walls and doors. one police officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. cops returned fire, later breaching the door and apprehended the suspect. he was taken to the hospital with unspecified jinjuries. nearly 700 homes have been evacuated in colorado as crews battle a fast-moving wildfire. one house has been destroyed and some people have been treated for smoke inhalation. as of tuesday evening the highland lakes fire torched 166 acres and was 60% contained. the sheriff's office believes the blaze was sparked by a house fire and is now being investigated as a criminal act. of strong storms are on the move across the country today. let's check in with angie lassman who's tracking the system for us. >> we've got strong storms to watch not just through the afternoon hours but into this evening. it's working through parts of of the plains and the great lakes

consumers are now suggesting that the economy will not fall into recession in the next 12 months, and that's the first time that they've put that figure out since that indication was introduced in july 2022. so that's likely to be a positive sign for both presidential candidates, with the economy being a key sticking point in the run up to next tuesday's vote. but one thing that's getting consumers slightly concerned is the rise in the price of candy. it's gone up due to poor crop seasons, which means production costs have risen 45% from january to september this year. and that means manufacturers are passing on the cost of some of our favorite chocolate brands. so trick-or-treaters might be faced with a few, a slightly smaller loot, i think going into halloween this year. >> yeah, it will make it tougher for parents to get out to toss out the candy just to save their kids teeth from that. >> absolutely. now to actress teri garr
