right now at 6:00, a battleground blitz across the southwest for both harris and
6:01 am
trump. the war of words playing out this morning with five days to go until election day. plus, a growing push to remove an embattled councilman from office. the major south bay leader throwing his support behind a new recall petition. start the party. los angeles, your dodgers have won the world series. world series champions celebration erupting in l.a. overnight after the dodgers beat the yankees. they chaotic scenes breaking out while you were sleeping as well. this is today in the bay area. 6:00 on your thursday morning. happy halloween to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington, and you know what? we're going to get a look at that spooky commute for you. see if it's a trick or treat, see if there's any gremlins out there over that. yeah, but that is the question. is this weather going to give us a trick or treat? it
6:02 am
looks pretty good for halloween. we're starting out a little bit wet this morning after some early morning showers. you can maybe even see the little bit of sheen there as we take a look at the lights in downtown san jose on the roadways. but all of the rain is clearing out now. we're in the mid 50s as we're getting started and may drop down another couple of degrees, and then we see a slow rise in temperatures today. overall, we're pretty looking pretty good here. with the rain now pushing off towards the south and east. and some of us had a decent amount of rainfall. we were watching the south county where we are now starting to see things drying out. our temperatures today in the mid to upper 60s as we get a mix of sun and clouds and a breezy wind in novato, look for a high of 68 degrees, about the same in concord and 66 in palo alto. and we'll talk about the weekend coming up in a few minutes. mike still tracking a closure for 92? yeah, the eastbound 92. i'm talking about the san mateo bridge. the you can access. that's the treat. you can still access the bridge and it's open,
6:03 am
but it's a little tricky coming over from the peninsula side. there is a closure, as there has been since about midnight last night. there is. looking at the off ramp at foster city boulevard. you have to exit and then reenter because of an overnight truck fire that still has to be cleaned up there and cleared up. so that will add some delay. you get off the freeway basically over at costco. if you know the area, you loop back around. but it's tough on those city streets just because it's tight for the turnaround. watch out there. meanwhile, the commute directions are moving very smoothly there and around the rest of the bay. pretty pretty smooth. back to you. thanks, mike. well, election day is almost here. with five days to go, the campaign spirit is reaching top speed. former president trump and vice president harris are in the southwest today. political stars and celebrities will be joining them in that final push to get out the vote today in the bay's alice barr joins us live from washington this morning. and alice, this all comes amid continued fallout. this is over. president biden's comments when it comes to trump supporters calling them garbage. marcus and president biden clarified that
6:04 am
he was specifically talking about that comedian who raised so much controversy over his set at the trump madison square garden rally. but former president trump is leaning in hard to this, while vice president harris is taking a big step back. today, both of the nominees are campaigning in arizona and nevada, and mr. trump also adding a new mexico stop stamina or that special. the presidential nominees making a battleground blitz across the southwest today after both holding big events in wisconsin. we're going to bring back our country. are we ready to win in this final stretch? vice president harris centering reproductive rights as part of a larger fight for freedoms. the government shouldn't be telling her what to do with her body, not the government. as former president trump again said he wants to protect american women, noting that's despite advice from his advisers. well, i'm going to do it whether the women like it or not, i'm going to
6:05 am
protect them. the former president, wearing a safety vest after posing in a garbage truck. the latest salvo in a controversy stemming from a comedian at the trump madison square garden rally calling puerto rico a floating island of garbage, prompting this from president biden. the only garbage i see floating out there is his supporters. you can't lead america if you don't love americans. president biden and the white house clarifying that he was only referring to the comedian vice president harris quickly distancing herself. i strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for. i will be a president for all americans, whether you vote for me or not. democrats pointing to a track record of inflammatory rhetoric from former president trump, including this against democrats this week. this is a sick group of people, i'm telling you, and there's a great evil, a war of words with five days to go. members of the harris campaign
6:06 am
seized on former president trump's phrasing that he'll protect women, whether they like it or not. they're arguing he thinks he knows better than the women of america. while a trump campaign spokesperson said vice president harris has put policies in place that left women far less safe. this is all significance in the context of that gender divide we're seeing in this race. marcus, all right, alice barr in washington this morning, alice. thank you. and a reminder for you, we are helping you get informed about our local races as well. just scan that qr code there on your screen. it's going to take you to the full voter guide with all the info you need on those key races. san jose mayor matt mason is publicly supporting a petition to recall embattled city councilman omar torres from office. the mayor made the revelation last night during our newscast at 7 p.m. torres is battling allegations he may have committed sexual misconduct involving a minor. councilman torres vigorously denies those claims. in a one on one
6:07 am
interview with our own raj mathai, mayor mason says he wants torres to resign and he supports the residents taking action in light of councilman torres lack of attendance at recent city council meetings. i want him off the council because his own words, which he has not denied, published in the affidavit from his text messages, are disgusting, he is sexually objectifying minors. they're incredibly disturbing and raj. there's a different bar for criminal convictions and what we expect of our elected officials. it is important to note that mayor mason's deputy chief of staff is among those putting together the recall effort, and the santa clara county democratic party is also calling for him to resign. councilman torres has requested a leave of absence from his job, citing his mental health in the wake of the city council committee has denied that request. mayor rips through a home in san francisco, leaving five people displaced. happened

about 230 this morning along sanchez street in noe valley, near james lick middle school. investigators say the fire started on the second floor. firefighters had to face multiple hazards, including including live electrical wires, which fell as first responders were at the scene. pg&e helped de-energize the power lines. no one was hurt. the red cross is assisting those impacted by the fire. 607 right now, giants fans just look at it. this way the giants since 2010 still have more world championships than the dodgers. it's now three and two. if you're wondering but you know dodgers fans they're still celebrating the latest championship this morning. you know some of those celebrations though turned a bit wild there. here's some video of a bus on fire in la's echo park overnight. police posting those details citing hostile crowd taking over the bus. we're also saying that they are telling us some of those details about some stores being targeted by looters as well. meantime, let's head over to the celebration part of
6:09 am
it all there in the locker room last night. the champagne flowing as players celebrated the dodgers eighth championship. all time. the victory parade is planned for tomorrow. the dodgers won in a dramatic, historic style there. they came down from that five nothing deficit to take the six five lead. this is all thanks to the yankees errors. then, after the yankees took a six five lead, the dodgers tied it up again, only to add another late run. the dodgers hold on to win that game seven six, capturing the series four games to one. freddie freeman, winning mvp there. this is after hitting four runs over the five game series home runs. oh yeah. okay, so here's a live look for you in la right now. but for all of the la transplants there, the parade through downtown is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow. meteorologist kari hall, of course, monitoring not only what's going on here, but what's going on there. and you say weather wise, it should be pretty nice and clear for the parade. yes. and the rain is
6:10 am
clearing out so you don't have to worry about any rain on the parade. it's going to be in the low 70s for highs. and as you stay there this weekend, possibly just hanging out, enjoying the celebrations, it's going to be in the upper 60s and low 70s for those high temperatures here at home. we're heading off for work on this halloween morning and in dublin it is starting out mostly clear after some early morning rain at 9:00, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures in the mid 50s and headed for the mid 60s for today. very much like the weather we've seen recently. it continues today and will be a mild one, but a little bit cooler than what's normal for this last day of october. we'll talk about the weekend coming up. mike, get you on the road if you are heading to la with lower gas prices. you may have to fill up for a longer drive, perhaps. whatever the case, we'll start in alameda county this morning. the best price there is 3.79 at livermore's gas and mart on south front road in marin county. the next price is the best is 3.89. right here in the middle of mill valley. has a hq fuels on shoreline highway and
6:11 am
then from the north bay to the south bay from mark to market in san jose, we have diamond gas and market on 3.95 on winchester boulevard. same logo. i think it's the same. just a subtle difference in the naming here. whatever the difference is, whatever the names check gasbuddy.com for your best prices on the roadways. we're looking at a pretty smooth drive. there's been overnight rain, so watch for the damp roadways. we are looking at a smooth flow of traffic, but there was a spinout reported right around potrero just off of i-80. no major problems this morning as we look at the richmond bridge, we do see some of that damp pavement i've been talking about. back to you. thanks, mike. 610 for you this morning. diwali celebrations getting underway across the bay area. but there is a new warning about the festival of lights next. what you should keep in mind before the fun begins. and the new starbucks ceo continues to make his mark with more changes at your local coffee shop. let's go out to the futures this morning on this halloween. looks like it's going to be a bit of a spooky day on the market. well, here's a
6:12 am
halloween tradition for a south bay mother. we'll talk about the powerful story behind this display that's putting smiles on so many faces. keep it here. you're watching today in the ba.
6:13 am
6:14 am
west airlines says it's adding
6:15 am
new direct flights from sfo to nashville and baltimore. we've gotten more good news about the economy. we'll talk more about that in a second. but first coffee. starbucks making more changes. the company's ceo says starbucks will no longer charge extra for milk substitutes like soy or oat milk. they're also asking baristas to speed it up. deliver your coffee as ordered in four minutes or less. starbucks also bringing back what it calls the condiment bar, the sugars and milks and little shakers of cinnamon and whatnot that used to used to be able to put in your coffee yourself before the pandemic. well, they're coming back. other news. a judge in pennsylvania says tesla ceo elon musk must attend a court hearing over his million dollar giveaway to voters. prosecutors in philadelphia sued to stop him, saying it was electioneering. the prosecutor has asked the court for extra security for the hearing, saying that he's received threats. as for the good news about the economy, the latest read on gdp
6:16 am
shows we've been growing at a healthy rate for several years now, faster than any other western country and brand new into our newsroom. the latest read on inflation. the personal consumption index shows inflation now at 2.1% annually. 2% is the target that is extremely good news. yes, eggs are still expensive, but that's bird flu. yes, house prices are totally out of control, but that's beneficial to the 60% of you out there who own a home. prices in general under control. nationwide gas prices hit a three year low gas prices. a political football they shouldn't be, though. you see those little stickers they put on gas pumps when they want to blame the current president for high gas prices. and i remind you that presidents have essentially no control over gas prices up or down. neither biden or trump can take credit and neither really get the blame either. wages continue to grow faster than inflation as well. consumer confidence numbers this
6:17 am
week were up 11%. their biggest jump in years. and of course we get the big jobs report tomorrow. full steam ahead. all right. thanks scott. you bet. 616 for you this morning, the indian holiday of diwali is today. the celebration gets its name from a row of clay lamps, which indians light outside of their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. people from around the world have been celebrating over the past week ahead of today's primary holiday. diwali is celebrated by tens of thousands of indian americans right here in the bay area. so last week, a san jose mother issued a warning over fireworks ahead of the holiday. gina ramos says that her 13 year old daughter was burned when a sparkler fell onto her skirt. she had to spend nine weeks in the burn unit. ram dass says that the traditional indian sari is worn during diwali, and they're made of silk and synthetic and can go up in flames easily. well, a south bay
6:18 am
mother is powering on with the tradition of an emotional halloween tribute. despite the recent passing of her son. it's quite the display. dolls and ornaments filled the front yard of shelly jimenez's home. you can't miss it if you're traveling along vernon avenue in san jose's willow glen. she actually first started decorating in 2018 for her son christopher, who suffered from cerebral palsy and lung disease. but sadly, he passed away in may at the age of 29. she says her motivation, however, is unendin. it's like a beautiful tribute to your son. thank you. that means so much to me. thank you so much. yes, absolutely. thank you so much. i wanted to pay tribute to christopher, and i wanted to continue to just bring joy and
6:19 am
love to my community. shelly tells us she's not stopping here. she plans to have an elaborate decoration for the winter holidays, and wants to help decorate for san jose's christmas in the park, which in no time, they'll be setting up for absolutely all the little elves will be coming back, some of them getting a little old. some of them look like halloween decorations. what makes it. yeah, nostalgic. all right. weather-wise today looks great for the trick or treaters. heading out. now, i know we had some rain this morning. you may be stepping out the door and seeing the wet conditions out there for the first time. don't worry. all of that's out of here in time for trick or treating. let's check out san francisco in the forecast throughout the day with our morning start in the 50s, we are headed for the low 60s and then quickly seeing those temperatures dropping down again as a lot of the families will be heading out and hitting
6:20 am
some of those neighborhoods around the city. here's a look at the showers that moved through overnight, and most of us had about a quarter inch of rain or less. there were some spots in our higher elevations that got close to an inch of rain, and we were just earlier watching the rain around gilroy. even now that is clearing out. so as we go throughout the day, we'll turn our attention to the next storm system that will be coming in for the weekend. this one arriving early on saturday morning, and we will have at least a period of some dry weather going into today, as well as much of the day tomorrow. so looking at our hour by hour outlook, here we are. the time line at 930 on friday night and the rain is rolling through much of the north bay and may be heavy just briefly as it quickly races through. we are going to see it moving into parts of the peninsula. the east bay, right at about midnight and then into saturday morning as you're waking up, heading out, the sky will already be clearing and we will see that possibility of about a quarter inch of rain
6:21 am
again, but we may see some higher amounts for parts of the north bay and east bay. dublin could possibly get 3/10 of an inch of rainfall and maybe even a quarter inch of rain for san jose. as well as half moon bay and looking for things to do this weekend, you may be heading to the lofgren festival happening in gilroy. we're going to see highs in the upper 60s throughout the day, so really nice. and it looks great after that early morning rain. the afternoon is looking pretty comfortable. it's going to be in the low 70s on sunday for any outdoor activities. and don't forget to set the clock back one hour. any of those clocks around the house that you have to set manually. and then next week we're going to see those highs in the inland areas and the low 70s. while san francisco will continue to see 60s throughout the at least next week. now, mike, you have one tricky spot as you leave the peninsula. that's right. a westbound 92. the san mateo bridge is still moving smoothly. a lighter volume right now. and the damp
6:22 am
roadways. those are a couple main notes, but we're looking at eastbound 92. this is the big note for the morning commute leaving the peninsula, heading through foster city. you have to exit eastbound 92 at foster city boulevard and then loop back onto the freeway, because right there near the transition, there was an overnight truck fire. there's activity still there, possibly 730 before they can reopen eastbound 92. you can still access that san mateo bridge, though it does move smoothly as it has all morning. just a minor delay getting from the highway 101. access the rest of the bay, getting to the bay bridge and the richmond bridge. slower, but no surprises. back to you. thanks, mike. all right. halloween started. we started it kind of early this morning. but what do you do with all the jack o lanterns once they start getting a little mushy? and how about the costume might never use again. we're breaking down the climate friendly ways to reduce your halloween waste.
6:23 am
6:24 am
6:25 am
and this halloween edition, we want to help you avoid the nightmare. after halloween, you can save your halloween costume for next year or donated candy wrapper, spider webs, and glow sticks. go in the trash, not in the recycling bin. and if you see wrappers out on the street, be sure to pick them up. they'll end up in the storm drain and
6:26 am
pollute our water and pumpkins. go in the garbage or in your backyard compost pile, but not in the yard trimmings container. it's something san jose environmental leaders are reinforcing this halloween. somebody has a large amount of pumpkins, and they don't have room in their garbage cart for all the extra pumpkins that week, they can purchase extra garbage stickers at any of our local san jose public libraries. lucky and safeway stores, and at san jose city hall for a small fee. and they can set out extra bags of garbage if they need to. and you can also save on your energy bill. so bring down the halloween lights and inflatable decorations in your yard. the next day you probably want to do that anyway because it's going to be windy all right, so share this story and learn more about climate change and are on in the bay area. visit our website nbcbayarea.com and click on the climate in crisis tab. laura marcus sounds good. thanks so much. kari. well, we've got a lot more ahead for you at 630
6:27 am
this morning, including dozens of hotel workers arrested in san francisco this after a march took over the city streets. negotiations for better work conditions move from multiple protesters, which landed them in handcuffs. plus, now we know rain is not going to be a problem for the trick or treaters later today. but we do have some other things that you'll want to think about. you already know about these safety tips,
6:28 am
i'm sam liccardo, and i approve this message. evan low. caught again. his tactics called "outrageous" and "self-serving." slapped with charges that he illegally used banned corporate money for his campaign. low's already under investigation for running a corrupt scheme to give political access to big money donors. but when it comes to fighting for us... low's missed nearly 1,000 votes... from affordable housing to climate change. evan low only serves himself.
6:29 am
6:30 am
we have light colors so that it's easier for people to see us be safe, be seen on halloween. right now at 630, goblins and ghouls just hours away from descending on bay area streets for trick or treating. we're breaking down the efforts to keep your kids safe this halloween. and do you need to grab that umbrella to match your costume? well, meteorologist kari hall is tracking when the rain will clear out. and in politics, we are five days away from election day, and it appears we are going to wrap it up by talking about garbage. this is today in the bay. oh, we still have the weekend to go. i'm sure something else will come up. good thursday morning to you. happy halloween as well. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. let's get a look at that halloween forecast for you. meteorologist kari hall is tracking those temps and the rain that we saw this morning. yes, but not all day. right.
6:31 am
it's already clearing out. and so the car may be wet. the roads may still be a little damp, but we are going to see a mostly sunny sky going into the rest of today as the rain clears on out of here. it will be chilly as we go into tonight. temperatures in the 40s and 50s with a stronger storm coming in for the weekend. but don't worry, it doesn't look like it will affect your weekend plans. and we're starting out with upper 40s low 50s as you head out and we are going to see that rain once again moving away from us. but we had a pretty decent soaking in some spots, so there still may be some slick spots on your commute. and mike, you're looking at the drive across some of our bridges. yeah, we're looking at the golden gate bridge, a very halloween look on international orange, and then the black background. that's cool. it looks like it's from the 1970s. it's not. it's actually a live picture. just the nature of the iris having to work a little harder. it's darker out there. right now we're looking at no slowing across the golden gate bridge, bay bridge, richmond bridge over to san rafael. standard westbound slowing. same thing for highway 37 and highway four through contra costa county. no surprises as you pass
6:32 am
by the san mateo bridge for the westbound commute. i have circled eastbound east 92. you have to exit at foster city boulevard and reenter because of a truck fire that's still being addressed, but the bridge is accessible and it's moving well anywhere south of there. pretty light back to you. all right. thank you very much. two decision 2024. donald trump making sure you remember the word garbage and scott mcgrew. that seems to be the word of the week. garbage. yeah, word of the month. really? i mean, if we're being technical because donald trump called america a garbage can in speeches in both michigan and arizona earlier this month. and then, of course, you got the garbage island comment from that comedian at the trump rally. and then biden appeared to call trump supporters garbage. how do you like my garbage truck? this truck is in honor of kamala and joe biden. all right, well, trump got his own garbage truck to drive him around in circles at the airport in green bay, and he wore a hi viz sanitation workers vest to his rally. ther.
6:33 am
joe biden's comments were the direct result of kamala's decision to portray everyone who isn't voting for her, which is a lot of people, as evil and subhuman. and we know it's really what they believe because look at how they've treated you. they treat you like garbage. they treat our whole country like garbage with open borders, with all of the horrible things they've done to hurt our countr. inflation. that should have never happened. allowing russia to go into ukraine october 7th in israel, all of these things would have never happened if you had a different president. now, quick fact check russia was in ukraine when trump was president. it had already invaded crimea. as for the garbage, republicans have dismissed that comedian's comment about puerto rico as a joke. jd vance saying people should get over it, but absolutely. capitalizing on biden's comment, biden has clarified he did not mean voters
6:34 am
were garbage, but it caused a headache for the harris campaig. officials in portland, meanwhile, briefed citizens there about their plans to keep the election day safe. a ballot collection box there was burned in florida. an 18 year old man was arrested for threatening elderly poll workers with a machete. he was part of a roving band of young men, police say, trying to intimidate voters while trump was in green bay, vice president harris went to wisconsin's capital, madison, warning trump would further restrict abortion. before that, she was in north carolina. we have an opportunity in this election to turn the page on a decade of donald trump, who has been trying to keep us divided and afraid of each other. we know that is who he is. but north carolina, that is not who we are. this is someone who is unstable, obsessed with revenge, consumed with grievance, and out
6:35 am
for unchecked power. in less than 90 days, either he or i will be in the oval office. the secretary of state in michigan warned there's a specific problem with voting machines designed to be used by handicapped voters. if you mark the straight ticket box saying you want to vote, all republican or democrat, but then go in and vote for a candidate of the opposite party, you get an error message. it's fixable. officials warn it may slow down voting for that individual. trump is making unproven claims about voting fraud in pennsylvania, leading some analysts to guess his internal polling shows he's going to lose that state. they're testing machines in wisconsin and other states as well. officials there, markus, say they are ready to go. all right, scott, thank you. okay. so all the scary things you can expect during halloween, simply walking in your neighborhood should be one of them. that's
6:36 am
certainly true today in the bay's kris sanchez joins us with some reminders about all the little kids that are going to be out tonight. and of course, all the treats and hopefully not too many tricks in those little bag. oh yeah, we certainly hope not. we've seen the walkers and the joggers and the dogs this morning, but we know that it's going to be just as dark when the trick or treaters are heading out. tonight we're in the downtown willow glen area, which is really busy in the afternoon hours because the local businesses have a tradition of handing out candy to the youngsters around the noontime hour and then after school. but eventually the kids are going to go out trick or treating. we know that some of them will go to places like santana row in san jose, where things are a little bit more marked, a little bit safer because there's no vehicle traffic there. but of course, kids of all ages are expected to go out into the neighborhoods as well, all around the bay area, and some of them will be in costume. that will make it very hard to see them as you are driving. so be careful of that, especially when you are driving away from a crosswalk. children
6:37 am
are 3.5 times more likely to be hit and killed by a car on halloween than any other day throughout the year, so it's really important that we're hyper vigilant, not only as drivers, but as we're taking our kids out into the community just to make sure we're extra aware. kids get excited. they may dart out, and we just want to make sure we're keeping everybody safe. as san jose police and other departments, of course, are reminding all of us to watch out for tripping hazards, especially the bottom part of the kids costumes. if you're going out, use flashlights and reflective tape to make your trick or treater more visible. use the crosswalks and then when you are trying to cross the street, make sure you make eye contact with the driver so that you know that they saw you. and as for the grown ups, it goes without saying do not drink and drive. now, as for the candy, the folks at poison control say make sure you inspect all of the kid's candy before they eat it.
6:38 am
throw away any candy without wrappers, labeling, or which you don't recognize and only enjoy the homemade treats. if you know who made them. check for choking hazards for the little ones, and make sure you put your medicine out of reach because some of that medicine can look like a candy to a kid who is looking for a sweet treat. when in doub, you can call poison control 24/7. so the sunsets tonight at 610. so it is going to be dark probably by the time you get home from school. get the kids back in their costumes and then head out. so make sure that you're careful. and if you are not trick or treating, make sure that you're aware that a lot of other people are in san jose. kris sanchez today in the bay. thank you. sunset at 610. i was already thinking, when do i have to have dinner ready and all that. so there we go. get ready for the kids. yes. so early thankfully. and we've got a list of halloween events happening across the bay area. head on over to our website, nbcbayarea.com and click on halloween. you'll find it up
6:39 am
there in the trending bar. let's talk about this rain that happened overnight. will it continue tonight for trick or treaters? meteorologist kari hall has the forecast. the rain is clearing out and just in time for trick or treating, the weather is looking perfect. take a look at the forecast for san francisco. it will be partly cloudy throughout the day and our highs stay only in the 50s through much of the city, and we're going to see a mix of sun and clouds for the bay. it's going to be just a touch warmer with highs in the mid 60s, but really cooling off quickly in time for those trick or treaters to hit the streets. it will be partly cloudy and about 59 degrees and then checking out our inland forecast here we're going to see highs in the middle of the day headed for the upper 60s. partly cloudy with a breezy wind, and at 7:00 it will be 60 degrees. it's also a great day to check out some of the pumpkin
6:40 am
patches. how about going to half moon bay where we are going to see those highs in the mid 50s and it's going to be chilly there, but perfect for those costumes taking pictures and enjoying all of the vivid colors of fall. and we'll be watching the forecast for the rest of the weekend. into the bay area. for now, let's head over to mike with a look at traffic. yeah, unfortunately, a little tricky getting to the san mateo bridge. if you're coming off the peninsula, you see the traffic flows fine on the span and folks are accessing the bridge, but you have to get off of 92 eastbound and then back on at foster city boulevard. since about midnight, there was a truck fire. and so they have to address that. and they're expecting 730 for all things to reopen again. you can access the san mateo bridge, though there's a little slowing westbound for a lighter commute today. south bay, same thing for north 101 and 87. no real surprises as we look ahead toward your day. we do have the sharks playing tonight as well, so there will be trick or treaters on surface street, but also some sharks fans over near the sap center. so keep that in mind as well. as
6:41 am
we look at the rest of the east bay. pretty standard build. the east shore freeway moves well westbound as your commute direction past golden gate fields, but starting tomorrow morning at 7 a.m, watch that gillman interchange. they're doing serious work on making some roundabouts, so that will be an impact in getting to and from i-80. back to you. thanks, mike. 640 right now. close call after a freak occurrence on the bay bridge, a heavy rope swings down and hits a car driving beneath it. we investigate the moment all caught on camera. we're live at frightmare home haunt in livermore, where a halloween tradition continues. it's been scaring visitors for a decade now, and we'll take you inside and show you if you dare. i have to give up your soul

6:48 am
that's, you know, not typical. that happens when people go through the haunted house. yes. i scare every night. that's probably my favorite part. right. so, yeah. and all the actors have names and different characters. so i'm the reaper. so if you want to vote for me, you know, we do a little vote at the end. so a little shout out right there. try to get some more fans behind that. all right. you've been doing this ten years in. and i mean, even from just the last hour that we were here until now, we're trying to keep things fresh. that might be a challenge because people can see through some of the scary tactics. well, we haven't shown everything. there's definitely two new rooms we haven't showed this year. so and there's some other areas that we haven't showed so. but it will be scary for sure. yeah. but with the like hundreds of people that come through, you know, that it's something that becomes challenging after a while. like do you have regulars that come? oh yes. we have some that will go through every night. they'll go through multiple times in a night. so yeah, we definitely have regulars. they know some of the hidden secrets and stories we have behind the scenes. but yea.
6:49 am
no, it's we, we have multiple spots where we can scare. so if they've come through, we can hide in a different spot. so that's amazing that you definitely do. i want to i want to get get you out of jail here. all right. i'm going to get you out on bail. and then you tell me how you created this. this is just one of the decorations that really is taken to the next level because you've personalized it and put some detail. yeah. so it's just you get a skeleton and it's called corpsing and then you get plastic, like the stuff you would put for down for when you're painting and you wrap them in it and then you use a heat gun and melt it, and then you paint it and make it look gross and slimy. right? amazing. and your wife does the, does the doors, too. she painted the doors. that's called crackle paint. so it looks like it's old and worn and falling apart. and so yeah, this is really a creative project for the whole family. yep, yep. yeah. the my daughter has helped make posters. i'll have them out here. i'll be like, what do you think about this skull here or this skeleton here. and so, you
