gender divide has taken center stage in the election. vice president harris attacking donald trump for saying that he would be a protector of women, whether the women like it or not. she spoke with nbc news about that comment. >> the majority of americans believe that women are intelligent enough and should have and be respected for their agency to make decisions for themselves about what is in their best interests and not have their government and certainly not donald trump telling them what to do. >> now, a top harris surrogate, billionaire mark cuban, is facing backlash for saying strong, intelligent women are not seen around donald trump and that the former president is intimidated by them. mr. trump responded in a scathing social media post writing in part that he is surrounded by the strongest of women and that women in general should be mad about what cuban said. let's get an update now from alice barr. alice, good morning.

all these people are talking about women, but are any of them speaking to women and what female voters want going into this election? >> reporter: good morning, christina. certainly both the nominees have been trying to tailor messages that appeal to female voters. and thus far, the vice president's campaign is having more success. former president trump trying to make up ground now. both campaigns held rallies in nevada last night. former president trump was in henderson, where he said if elected he would have robert f. kennedy jr., who's known for being skeptical about vaccines work on health, and in particular, women's health. the former president made some of his harshest personal attacks yet against vice president harris. >> she can't hand manle the presidency. she'll get overwhelmed, meltdown and millions of people will die. this is not a charity event. this is an election for the biggest and most important job in history. you want to lose your job? or maybe your house or pension

because kamala has the economic understanding of a child. she's a child. >> reporter: vice president harris held a rally in las vegas where she spoke about the importance of dignity and leadership. >> it's about dignity. and it's about values that you bring to your position of leadership. and as far as i'm concerned, we're done with the idea that the measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you beat down. when we know the real measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up! >> reporter: harris was introduced by jennifer lopez, who responded to the offensive joke made by a comedian about puerto ricans at the trump rally in new york. >> you can't even spell american without rican. this is our country, too! and we, we must exercise our right to vote on november 5th.

please, let's get loud! let's get loud! >> reporter: the vice president just got more powerful endorsements. much of the avengers cast assembled in a video to show their support for the harris-walz campaign. and nba super star lebron james also endorsed harris, writing, quote, the choice is clear to me. there will be dueling rallies in wisconsin. vice president harris will hold a rally with rapper cardi b in milwaukee while donald trump will be rallying on his own in the same city. >> thank you. elon musk's legal team scored a win against the philly d.a. in court on thursday, successfully delaying any ruling, meaning the billionaire's daily giveaways can continue for now. >> reporter: the battleground pennsylvania effort to shut down elon musk's giveaways hitting a snag. musk, a no show, despite an

order from the judge. as his legal team now tries to fend off a civil suit, brought by philadelphia's democratic d.a. which accuses the tech billionaire and his pro-trump super pac of operating an unlawful lottery. >> theiis is a case that involv state law issues. >> reporter: lawyers for musk fighting back, successfully getting the case put on ice for now, by filing paperwork to get it moved over to federal court. musk under scrutiny for allegedly interfering with the federal election, announcing i'd randomly award prize money to swing state voters who sign a pledge in favor of first and second amendment rights. >> if you already believe in the constitution you're just signing something you already believe, and you can win a million dollars. >> reporter: the justice department sending a warning letter last week that the give away could be illegal. federal law prohibits peoaying people to register to vote. this as musk remains one of

former president trump's most visible and energetic supporters this election. >> i think this election, i think it's the most important election of our lifetime. >> reporter: frequently sharing pro-trump content with his 200 million-plus followers on x. and researchers say, since taking the reins of what was formerly twitter, he's made changes that's resulted in more far-right content being amplified. his pac now running an aggressive get-out-to-vote operation. his swing state sweepstakes climbing to $13 million winners and counting. laura jarrett, nbc news. new this morning, young thug is out of prison after pleading guilty to georgia's longest-running criminal trial. the 33-year-old atlanta rapper whose legal name is jeffrey williams, was indicted in 2022 on racketeering charges in fulton county. he was accused of leading a violent street gang that commit add swath of crimes, including

murder, armed robbery and drug dealing. more than a dozen co-defendants are named in the case. williams will serve at least 15 years probation and could serve prison time if he violates the terms of his sentencing. new york city's mayor is due in court today. eric adams faces multiple charges, including wire fraud and bribery. prosecutors claim the mayor received illegal donations from foreign nationals. today attorneys for adams will try to have the bribery charges dismissed. because they say there is no evidence to support them. adams has maintained his innocence and suggested the charges were politically motivated. on thursday, the biden administration announced they are expecting north korean troops in russia to begin fighting against ukraine in the coming days. u.s. secretary of state antony blinken now urging china to intervene, after north korea conducted its longest-ever intercontinental ballistic missile test for the first time in nearly a year. let's go live to nbc's matt

bodner in london. good morning, matt. >> reporter: christina, good morning. the white house says some 8,000 north koreaing n troops have ma their way to positions near the ukrainian border. in the coming days they are expected to join russian forces fighting against ukraine. this number, 8,000 troops, represents a dramatic increase in the size of the north korean force that has been confirmed by western officials just a few days ago. that number was 3,000. the context for all this is that ukrainian forces staged an incursion into russia's kursk region back in august and received a large swath of russian territory. this was a gambit meant to force russia to draw troops off the front of eastern ukraine, but the kremlin has not fully taken that bait. instead, they've doubled down on their offensive in the donbas region. but, as a result, the russian forces have struggled toel

ukraine's incursio re incursi ukraine's inc incursion. the numbers are not quite enough to offset the casualties russia itself is taking on the front. the current estimate by the united states is 1,250 troops a day. this is seen as a major escalation by nato. western officials have suggested that north korea in return is receiving frankly priceless russian assistance on missile technology for kim's nuclear program. back to you, christina. >> matt, thank you. the death toll after the catastrophic flooding in eastern and southern spain has jumped to at least 158. emergency services in valencia say that number is provisional and that the process of identifying victims continues. many small towns and villages have been hard hit and hard to reach by road due to mud and debris. the government says it is

a deal to end boeing's machinist strike could finally take off. but first, we're just hours away from the last jobs report before the election. dow jones economists expecting to see 100,000 jobs added in october dragged down by hurricanes and labor strikes. cnbc's sylvia amaro is here with a preview. >> indeed, all eyes today on non-farm payrolls. this will be the last opportunity, really, to get a check on the labor market ahead of the u.s. election next week. but also before the federal reserve is due to meet as well next week. now the data is expected to show the smallest increase in nearly four years, and one of the reasons behind that is the recent worker strike, including
