san francisco is in crisis and we need real experienced leadership. we need mark farrell. our interim mayor who got things done. who showed we can clear tent encampments, fight crime, and address the drug crisis. who will make the tough choices for our city's future. "i'm mark farrell. i'm running for mayor because san francisco deserves better." "i'm ready to deliver that change on day one." mark farrell. a proven leader with the experience we need.

a halloween celebration in florida. the new details being released this morning on the gunman now in custody. the man simply does not respect the freedom of women or the intelligence of women. well, i'm going to do it whether the women like it or not, i'm going to protect them. the final weekend before the election, and both candidates honoring in and honing in on those issues, aiming to get undecided voters. we are live in washington as they make their final pitch. and one bay area county now bringing back its mask mandate. we're moving you forward with where and when you'll need to cover up. this is today in the bay. good friday morning to you. thanks so much for starting your november 1st with us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. we've got the commute on lock for you. mike has that for us. but first let's talk about that forecast friday.
6:02 am
forecast. rain or shine, we don't care. it's friday. all right. and we'll have a little bit of sunshine a little bit of rain. most of that rain coming in later tonight. but it's starting out cold this morning. check out the north bay temperatures again dropping down into the upper 30s and low 40s. it's 41 in sonoma and 38 in santa rosa. while we're mostly seeing 40s in the east bay, it is now 44, in livermore and in san jose, 48 degrees, 50 in san mateo and in san francisco. so checking out palo alto, we're in the upper 40s right now. it's going to be mostly clear until the clouds start to roll in, which will give us kind of some filtered sunshine throughout the day. a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the upper 60s. we are seeing a lot of these numbers matching what we've had mostly throughout the week. but then later tonight that rain will be arriving, so i'll time that out for you and mike. it seems now like it's finally friday light. yeah, friday. friday light. as far as that volume goes, the sensors are going great as well. a note though, chp has been very busy overnight. a lot of
6:03 am
incidents going on. some folks may have stayed out a little late, maybe rushing around or had been rushing around. there's the bay bridge toll plaza. despite the metering lights being on, there is no backup at the toll plaza. there is a build getting into the city, so they may slow down those metering lights that may cause some of the build. east shore freeway looks great, just highway 37 and a tiny bit for highway four and a little build for san jose south bay. two crashes are clearing from hayward. back to you. thank you very much, mike. we do begin with that breaking news out of florida. a 17 year old is in custody this morning following a mass shooting during halloween celebrations. it happened in downtown orlando a little after 10:00 west coast time. investigators say eight people were shot. two were confirmed dead. the other six victims were taken to the hospital, but they are expected to survive. the victims range in age from 19 to 39. law enforcement says the gunman was previously arrested for grand theft last year. well, in just days, voters will head to the
6:04 am
polls if they haven't already done so. this, as the presidential candidates are making their closing pitches to voters in swing states. vice president harris and former president trump even stopping in the same states today in the bay's alice barr joins us live from washington. and alice, here we go. it's the final push to gain support from those undecided voters. laura and marcus heading into this critical final weekend, the focus is shifting back to midwest battleground states. today, with both nominees rallying tonight in milwaukee, wisconsin tells the presidential nominees honing their closing messages in key southwest swing states and going on the attack. do you want to lose your job, or maybe your house or pension? because kamala has the economic understanding of a child. she's a child. both nominees in nevada, the next president of the united states, kamala harris. vice president harris appearing with jennifer lopez, zeroing in on these comments about women from former president trump. well, i'm going
6:05 am
to do it whether the women like it or not, i'm going to protect them. the man simply does not respect the freedom of women or the intelligence of women to be able to make decisions about their own lives. adding fuel to the election's sharp gender gap. i think that it's ironic that he wants to support women on his terms and not ours. mr. trump's women supporters pushing back. he's just saying like he's looking out for women's best interests. he's not going to force somebody into anything. the former president adding a stop in new mexico thursday, appealing to latino voters where he's gained ground. i do eventually want to own my own house, and the rate it's at right now, i just don't see it happening within the next four years. if kamala does end up being president. others angered by that comedian's trump rally offensive puerto rico comments. i'm sure support for kamala. until yesterday, i was a republican in the final stretch. experts urging faith in the system. you can watch the
6:06 am
counting happen on on video. you can meet your election administrator as the nation prepares for election day. and harris surrogate billionaire mark cuban, is facing pushback for responding to a question about nikki haley not campaigning with former president trump by saying that strong, intelligent women are not seen around him and that he's intimidated by them. mr. trump said on social media he is surrounded by the strongest of women, and that women should be angry about the comment. cuban later clarified that he was not referring to women voters. lauren marcus, they're taking the gloves off now. it will be an interesting weekend to see what comes out. thank you. alic. well, starting today, health care workers at some visitors at patient facilities will have to mask up in parts of the bay area. so public health department in alameda, contra costa, santa clara, san mateo and napa counties have all issued similar orders for hospitals, skilled nursing
6:07 am
facilities and other places that provide health care. this is all part to prevent the spread of covid during the cold and flu season. we actually spoke with ucsf infectious disease specialist dr. peter chin-hong, and he points out that many doctors and nurses have already started wearing masks. there might be some people who worry that it's taking away their agency, but again, the focus is not on the person you know, your average person in the community. the focus is really on protecting people who are vulnerable. this mask mandate goes into effect today and will continue through the end of march or april of next year. a south bay cemetery this year is taking extra steps for dia de los muertos. after a tense clash with families last year. police ended up getting involved when dozens of families were locked out of oak hill cemetery in west san jose. it started when guards had to intervene in the property, closed early for security reasons. fast forward to this year. families and local activists working with the
6:08 am
cemetery to extend the hours with extra security. the oak hill cemetery did agree, which is great. we really appreciate it and we just hope to continue this without any issues moving forward, which i believe that, you know, as a community that that and, you know, a relationship with the cemetery and maintaining that communication, we can make that happen. the cemetery this year is allowing families to stay on the property until 8 p.m. tomorrow. well, halloween is now in the books, but the holiday brought out more than just trick or treaters. want to show you the scene from last night? this was for nightmare on front street. it's a celebration in san francisco last night, and that block party there packed the city's financial district. 2024 marked the first halloween event for the city's entertainment zone and businesses there really hoping for a boom in sales heading into last night. co-owner of one of those restaurants out there says that the party was quite a game changer in downtown san
6:09 am
francisco. we don't have quite the people in the offices like we used to. so parties like this, where people want to come downtown and bring people downtown and we can make sales because everybody wants to drink outside on this beautiful night for halloween is awesome. yeah, i saw all the videos last night on social media and it doesn't look fun. too bad we had to, you know, go to bed. all right. so, oktoberfest, you remember that back in september, some of the bars in san francisco reported sales were up 1,500% over the same weekend from 2023. well, a live look at walnut creek. i was looking at all those people dancing, and i'm like, they probably don't have kids. you know what i mean? because most of us were watching all the kids last night, trick or treating or either opening the doors, you know, for all the trick or treaters. kari. i know it was busy. probably at your house, too. absolutely. and those people are probably still sleeping. they're already at work, and we are seeing our weather at work at two starting out early this morning with some rain up around the pacific northwest and making its way
6:10 am
closer to the bay area with our next wet weather maker coming in later on tonight. and this is right at dinner time for the north bay from santa rosa to napa to calistoga, and then approaching san rafael. and this is continuing to make its way across much of the rest of the bay area around 9 to 10:00 11:00. we're seeing it approaching san jose and then gradually starting to break up later on tonight. so a lot of changes in the next 24 hours and we'll talk about the weekend. mike's been tracking gas prices before you hit the road. that's right. kari trying to get the weekend fill up for some folks, maybe a little bit cheaper. concord is still a king with the best price in the bay. 369 at bond fair market on willow pass road. saratoga has the one with the best for the south bay. 395 at fuel stop on saratoga, sunnyvale road and north bay. getaway. your lowest fill up is 399 at vallejo sinclair on fairgrounds drive. just a reminder, hit gasbuddy.com and no matter where you are around the bay, you can get those
6:11 am
reports now. chp has been very busy around the bay overnight, but no major slowing except for highway 17 is now showing a slowdown. this crash has been there for a while around the alma bridge. one lane is blocked, one is open. now. there's slowing. there's more vehicles heading out of los gatos, down to santa cruz and also we have some activity now registering on that lane. we're looking at the contra costa county drive. look at that. vasco road is still at near its minimum for the morning. so that's indicating friday late coming out of contra costa county. back to you. thanks, mike. well, california's insurance crisis is only getting worse. ahead for you at 625, the region one bay area homeowner who says he was targeted by his insurer. and the reason you could be next. it's jobs friday. we get the big jobs report. but economists are saying ignore this one. i'll explain why. coming up out to wall street, the futures. wall street definitely ignoring a very poor report. it's going to move quickly to the positive. and after the break, san francisco's albino tiger alligator serves as a celebrity's halloween
6:12 am
inspiration. we're going to tell you who rocked these iconic white scales when we return. you don't want to miss it. you're watching today in the bay.
6:13 am
6:14 am
big news from boeing aircraft,
6:15 am
the company's mechanics have agreed to vote on a new contract now. yes or no? we don't know, but it's progress. intel here in town reporting much better than expected numbers to investors. a few minutes ago, the commerce department said it had selected sunnyvale for the future headquarters of the national semiconductor technology center. it's part of the chips act. sunnyvale will get the headquarters. new york state is going to get the manufacturing. the monthly jobs numbers just came in, and it's one of the smallest numbers ever. just 12,000 jobs added in the previous month, down from more than 200,000. the month before. so what happened? well, two major hurricanes back to back happened. that and the boeing strike. economists were expecting a small number. not that small, but small. unemployment sticks at 4.1%. but as we were talking yesterday, there are all kinds of other economic indicators we can point to that aren't affected by hurricanes. gdp shows we're the
6:16 am
fastest growing developed western country. american wages are up, inflation near finished at 2.1%. consumers are spending and they feel good about it. check, check and check. this morning d.a. krasner was here to testify. elon musk didn't show. elon musk did not show up to a court ordered appearance in philadelphia yesterday, but the judge found in his favor anyway. the philly prosecutor had moved to stop musk from giving away millions of dollars a day to voters in pennsylvania for signing a petition saying that violates state law. the judge said he would allow musk to continue with the checks while the system decided whether the question should be in state or federal court. now, this is going to be irrelevant come tuesday, so musk wins that one. remember this guy brad ratzenberger, secretary of state for georgia? he's in charge of elections. there he is once again, warning about fake claims
6:17 am
of cheating, particularly pointing out a fake video of actors pretending to be haitians voting in america's election. all fake, obviously fake, says ratzenberger, but promoted on x, the old twitter. we're also learning from the federal government that the russian is often behind them, trying to mimic spanish language media, seeing that's obviously a very important voting group, right? and so now they're putting some effort to that as well. so be on the lookout. all right. thanks, scott. you bet. all right. 616 for you this morning john mulaney hosting snl. well, that's not really news because he's done it. five times before. but this week's musical guest is the hottest thing in music these days. and we do mean h o t t o go. hi, i'm john mulaney, and i'm hosting snl this week with chapel road. oh, my god, we can do the thing. what thing? you know, i hope she does. hot to go. just ask her. no, that's not the thing. she's right here. he doesn't get it, girl. let's go.
6:18 am
so if her outfit there is any indication, get set for chapel road to take snl by storm. it's going to air live for you right here on nbc bay area at 830 tomorrow night. and then it airs after our 11 p.m. newscast. wel, trending this morning, celebrities certainly serves some serious looks for halloween. do you recognize this one? that's kim kardashian actually going viral this morning for dressing up like an albino alligator. the photo currently has nearly 1.8 million likes on instagram. but we can't help but wonder she maybe got some inspiration from right here in the bay area. we all know our real albino alligator cloud calls the california academy of sciences in san francisco home. he's deemed the unofficial mascot of the tourist destination since he arrived back in 2008. on the website, cloud is described as having a cushy life in the popular tourist destination swamp exhibit. now, due to her a-list
6:19 am
lifestyle, it's possible kim k might have more in common with him than you might think. yeah, these costumes, of course, seriously made us want to phone home. of course, singer janelle monae right there, and supermodel heidi klum both challenging e t r i want to phone home. yeah, as a halloween inspiration there. klum of course, wearing the get up and her annual party in new york city. i've always wanted to get an invitation to that. you better come prepared. i know i got to step it up. all right, but from out of this world to a little bit more down to earth here we here today in the bay, no stranger to getting into the halloween spirit as well, because it's fun. meteorologist kari hall, forecaster cinthia pimentel, and reporter kris sanchez, along with alyssa goard, our reporter. they had a festive orange and black spin on their holiday outfits, and kari wasn't done celebrating. she and her husband dressed like egyptian royalty with their kid, donning a witch and bleach ichigo costumes. very cool.
6:20 am
okay, there's marcus, ring the alarm! marcus channeling his inner first responder there with his fireman. assemble! and do you recognize those folks, love? that's me and my clan. that's right. we were promised a three hour tour, but somehow ended up on gilligan's island. a little throwback there. my husband, thurston howell, the third. yes, i was lovey. and then the triplets ginger, marianne, and of course, gilligan. and look at the little skipper. he was kind of done with our photo shoot rather quickly. okay, let's look at mike inouye's dog as well. adorable. taking the cake. when it comes to the cute factor, guys channeling his inner bath there. yeah. all right, cause i don't know if we could go back to, i mean, kari family. yeah. your son, he's gotten so tall. oh, yeah. oh, yeah. he's taller than you. i know, i feel like i'm shrinking, though, but because i looked at it, i was like. i was like, who is that?
6:21 am
and i was like, wait a minute. see how tall he got your husband's tall kids? yeah. eat your halloween candy. but i mean, gosh, no, don't. then you'll end up a runt like me. yeah. somehow everyone in the house is taller than me. i have no idea how that happened. me too. yeah. growing up fast. and you have to take in those memories and just, you know, enjoy each one each year. so, yeah, it was a great halloween. and we're going to have a nice weekend. more celebrations and festivities going on. and the weather is looking pretty good. now we will have to deal with a little bit of rain, but most of it coming late tonight. so we're starting out chilly this morning. we're in the mid 40s. it is 46 in palo alto and 48 degrees in san jose. and we're headed for the mid to upper 60s again. this afternoon all across the bay area. expect more of the same tomorrow. not much of a change temperature wise, but it will start to warm up on sunday with some low to mid 70s, mainly in the north bay. we'll see some mid 70s. there is a cold front dipping in and it's going to
6:22 am
bring in a wave of showers. we're already seeing some heavy rain moving through the pacific northwest as it moves into the north bay, right at about 6 to 7:00. may be heavy at times, but this system is moving so quickly that we're not expecting a whole lot of accumulation with this rainfall that we're going to see. so by 11:00, it's moving into the east bay, san jose, parts of the peninsula, and then clearing out, heading towards sunrise tomorrow, nice and sunny. so this will not affect any of your weekend outdoor plans. we're looking at about a quarter to possibly closer to a half inch of rain in parts of the east bay, and once again, it's in and out of here. later tonight. then we'll start to warm up in concord on sunday. we're in the mid 70s and that's the weather we'll see throughout much of next week. so a little bit warmer than what we had this week. and the sunshine continues. it will just be cool in those early morning hours with our morning lows in the upper 40s. we of course will be ready for that fall back. that means an extra hour of sleep
6:23 am
this weekend. isn't that exciting? that's what we're most excited about. not only the sunshine for the afternoons, we'll see some nice and mild weather, with one system dropping in this weekend that will bring us some rain. mike, how's that friday light looking? it's looking light and it's friday, so that's all appropriate. we do have slowing now all the way in that mini toll plaza all the way on the right side and hov lanes moving really nicely here. no problems on the span itself, just a little slowing, gently slowing across the bay. there's been a disabled vehicle in san francisco, but not affecting the off ramps as it approaches the bay bridge. on the decline, some slowing now out of richmond. so there's the build 37, holding steady, as is the east shore freeway. the rest of the bay incidents but no real slowing back to you. thanks, mike. it is 623. coming up next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds he lost his insurance coverage after speaking up about suspected fraud. and he says you're paying a price too. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura, nbc, bay area responds
6:24 am
next i'm sam liccardo, and i approve this message. evan low. caught again. his tactics called "outrageous" and "self-serving." slapped with charges that he illegally used banned corporate money for his campaign. low's already under investigation for running a corrupt scheme to give political access to big money donors. but when it comes to fighting for us... low's missed nearly 1,000 votes... from affordable housing to climate change. evan low only serves himself.

ongoing insurance crisis. so many people are losing their insurance coverage. consumer investigator chris gilmore has a puzzling case from the east bay. reporter. good morning. insurance companies say fraud costs them and by extension, us billions of dollars. that's why newark landlord bobby van mayor
6:27 am
thao says he spoke up when a tenant went after him and his insurance companies, claiming von murdaugh was essentially a slumlord. i told them this was fraud. immediately right off the bat, that none of this ever happened. but von mayor thao says what happened next stunned him. and it's costing all of us more money when we buy insurance. tonight at 11:00, we'll lay out an unexpected payout and show you why. von murda says his insurance companies created their own insurance crisis. if you've lost your insurance, we are eager to hear from you. snap the qr code on screen right now to fill out our consumer complaint form online. i'll join you again tonight at 11:00. thank you. chris. 627 for you right now. now we have a lot more ahead for you at 630, including the return of light rain here in the bay area. kari hall is tracking our weekend forecast. plus, we're live at sfo this morning with more on a violent attack on a flight that left san francisco
6:28 am
international earlier this week. how that attack has now sparked a federal investigation. plus, bracing for the winter the way caltrans is prepping roads in the cierra as holidays and the ski season quickly is approaching. stay with us. we'll be right back.

directly in the seat in front of me right now at 630. a terrifying encounter for united airlines passenger after he was attacked as he slept. the reason those on board the plane say they felt unsafe with the way the airline handled the situation. we can now measure the time until the presidential election in hours. it's four days, 96 hours. we'll have the very latest. plus dia de los muertos in the bay area. the celebrations honoring the lives of those who have passed. this is today in the bay. and this is friday morning. want to say good morning to you? thanks for starting your morning with us. i'm marcus washington, and i'm laura garcia. we appreciate you. welcome to november. here we go. whole new month. and finally, it feels like fall. and we're going to see a little rain at least this weekend. yes. so quickly rolling through later on tonight. and then the rest of the weekend is looking great. so
6:32 am
we're starting out mostly clear as we take a live look outside in san jose, but we will see a mix of sun and clouds today and temperatures going from mid 50s in the morning to upper 60s again today. a really nice one. and then looking at our next three days we are going to see temperatures in the upper 60s today, mainly in the east bay as well as the south county, and expect that on repeat tomorrow. after that rain clears, we'll have a lot of sunshine, but it will be slightly warmer on sunday up to the low 70s as we get ready for some warmer temperatures that will continue into next week, so we'll be tracking all of that. we'll help you make some weekend plans with some events coming up in a few minutes. marcus kari, thank you. well, a shocking and violent attack on a cross country flight from sfo. now, passengers. the passenger there attacked as he slept. all happened earlier this week on a united flight to washington dulles. today in the bay. ginger conejero saab live for us this morning at sfo. and ginger days later, and we're
6:33 am
still unclear, actually, why this even happened. unfortunately. so that's right marcus. another passenger that was on the flight who witnessed it all, says she's still in the dark as to why the suspect on that flight attacked another passenger seemed to have targeted that other passenger, she says, according to text that was sent from the victim to her, the victim never saw or even met that attacker prior to the flight. now, the united airlines flight left here at sfo earlier this week. it was headed to dulles when a couple of hours in a violent and unprovoked attack unexpectedly unfolded. and he was just violently attacking with his fists. the passenger that was directly in the seat in front of me. according to an fbi affidavit, passenger everett nelson had just left the lavatory when he physically attacked a sleeping male passenger, punching him repeatedly in the face and head
6:34 am
until blood was drawn. the witness that is speaking out about what she saw. sandhya gupta says another passenger restrained the attacker while she and another woman went to help the victim, who is deaf and nonverbal. the victim had gashes on his face. he had black eyes. he had bruises all over his fac. there was blood spatter. the normal protocol is to find an airport as quickly as you can to get on the ground. as i said, first for first aid for the victim, and second, to get the other person in custody. but the witness says instead of restraining the attacker, the flight crew took him to the front of the plane, where a crew member watched over him. she says passengers, including the victim, were on edge as they flew for three more hours to dulles. now, in a statement, united says thanks to the quick action of our crew and customers, one passenger was restrained after becoming physically aggressive toward another customer. the flight
6:35 am
landed safely and was met by paramedics and local law enforcement. and you can note there is that difference there from the fbi affidavit and the statement from united about what happened as far as restraining that passenger. we do know at this point that the faa is looking into the attack on that flight at sfo. ginger conejero saab today in the bay with the story there. ginger. thank you. four days to go until election day in this presidential election. breaking along gender lines. scott mcgrew the two candidates, both talking about what trump has said about women. yeah. good morning to you. the harris campaign mark is quick to jump on something, trump said wednesday in wisconsin that he would protect women. whether the women wanted him to or not. that allowed the harris campaign to remind voters about trump's record with women and consent. and my people told me about four weeks ago i was saying, no, i want to protect the people. i want to protect the women of our
6:36 am
country. i want to protect the women. sir, please don't say that. why? they said we think it's. we think it's very inappropriate for you to say. so why? i'm president. i want to protect the women of our country. they said. they said, sir, i just think it's inappropriate for you to say. pay these guys a lot of money. can you believe it? i said, well, i'm going to do it. whether the women like it or not, i'm going to protect them. listen, it's just it actually is very offensive to women in terms of not understanding their agency, their authority, their right, and their ability to make decisions about their own lives, including their own bodies. and this is just the latest on a series of reveals by the former president of how he thinks about women. now, polling shows men favor trump women much less likely to favor trump.
6:37 am
supporting harris not the first time there's been a general gender divide. men supported reagan more than carter. women supported al gore far more than george w bush. speaking of gender, donald trump pushed back after harris supporter mark cuban said on the tv show the view that trump is never around strong, intelligent women. cuban said later of the statement, i didn't get out exactly the way i thought it did. i apologize to anyone who felt slighted. trump once again sat down with former fox news anchor tucker carlson, this time in arizona, where trump suggested liz cheney should have to fight in a war. face rifles. he said, because she supported sending american troops in harm's way in the past. she's a radical war hawk. let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrel shooting at her. okay, let's see how she feels about it. you know, when the guns are trained on her face. and the trump campaign has filed a lawsuit against cbs for its interview with kamala harris on 60
6:38 am
minutes, claiming the interview was, quote, doctored. trump declined to participate in the interview at all. the lawsuit, filed in a particular texas court system that has just one judge. so they knew which judge they were going to get. northern district of amarillo, texas judge matthew kazmarek, who trump appointed to the job. it's the same judge they went to protect trump's remain in mexico program and to fight biden's protections for transgendered people, as well as laura, the abortion pill issue. so much to follow. thank you. scott. well, kerry's been trying to get us ready telling us more rain rolling in tonight. and you know what that means for the cierra. more snow after a storm yesterday briefly led to some chain controls already. caltrans says the road crews are now equipped for what may be the heaviest snow of the season that's coming so far. that's where the mechanics are performing. those routine maintenance, doing the repairs that are needed by getting each
6:39 am
piece of equipment back up and running in time for the next season. all right. let's hope that it is a big season of a lot of snow up there. helps businesses. the ski resorts. but you got to keep those roads clear. so hats off to them. absolutely. so anyone heading up there to tahoe this weekend? okay. well yet look like this. but that's what we're hoping for. this. yes, we do. alps or tahoe. it's getting going, but, you know, we like to kind of ease into our snowy season for this year. we're going to see that happen tonight already. a winter weather advisory in effect. and most of the snow is coming during the overnight hours. but for south lake tahoe we're looking at maybe an inch. and then there will be some spots in the higher elevations that could get 5 to 6in. and then we're looking at a very chilly weekend, clearing out tomorrow morning, starting out in the 20s, getting even colder as we go toward the end of the weekend. but if you're staying here at home,. want to
6:40 am
kick off the weekend with first fridays in oakland? well, we're at 8:00 and once again, most of the rain pouring late tonight. but then clearing out in time for a diwali by the bay and tiburon tomorrow it's going to be partly cloudy and highs headed for the mid 60s there. beautiful weather for that event. and then later tomorrow night we'll start out with some low 60s for the sharks game and then dropping back into the mid 50s. but all clear for that as well as the redwood city dia de los muertos happening on sunday. now this starts in the afternoon at 3:00. it will be in the low 70s, but it will be windy and those winds will continue through the evening. we also have more of the same festivities going on in oakland. it's going to be earlier in the day, so we're looking at cooler temperatures. and mike, you said it's been a busy morning for chp. chp has been doing a lot of reporting this morning. not a lot of slowing. there was
6:41 am
southbound 680 at washington. a crash there with slower sensors there that just cleared from lanes with no major injuries. but look at all this activity. so just watch for those flashing lights. we can tell you you will have delays along the peninsula starting tonight. again all weekend they're doing the express lane work in palo alto and san mateo. between those two areas we know about that. it repeatedly happens. this is new for today. starting this morning. they're having more slowing at the gilman street interchange below or just off the east shore freeway. and that's a longer term project. they're working on some roundabouts there, so just watch for changes if that's where you drive. if you're trying to get across the rio vista bridge, we've been seeing this ad the second weekend that they're having the full closures. so there's a long workaround. you have to go a ways around if the highway 12 rio vista bridge was your destination, but most of our drivers watching this will be taking these bridges, which are moving smoothly, back to you. all right. thanks, mike. okay, so this annual debate is back. as many of us prepare for an extra hour of sleep this weekend, many are asking is daylight saving time even
