both campaigns. the trump team looking at the polling saying, look, we've actually never been in such a strong position heading into an election day. but in terms of what we're watching for, these closing arguments. the fact that former president trump made those striking comments about congresswoman liz cheney, effectively calling for her execution, savannah, that's not the type of rhetoric his allies want to hear. the republicans who are fighting for their lives in ballot districts, down-ballot races, they want him to be focused on the economy, on immigration. for her part, vice president kamala harris with this closing argument about democracy, some of her allies want her to be even more focused on reproductive rights, even though she's talking about that, as well, savannah. >> let's talk about the gender gap. you mentioned reproductive rights. it's not the only ississue. what are we seeing? you have to take it with a grain of salt when you are looking at the early vote and party registration. by and large, the gender gap is one of the through lines for this election.
7:13 am
>> savannah, this is the first election after roe v. wade has been overturned. so absolutely the gender gap is front and center here. in terms of early voting, we're actually seeing the battlegrounds that women have the lead, a ten-point gender gap in terms of early voting. and nbc news analysis actually found that there has been an influx of new women voters in the critical battleground of pennsylvania, an influx of male voters, though, in the critical battleground state of nevada. so how do you juggle those two? how do you weigh them? it depends on, as you say, we have to wait for election day. it's significant, but we can't draw a conclusion. >> kristin, thank you. of course, kristin will have the latest sunday on "meet the press," including the results of our final nbc news poll for this election season and complete live coverage as the polls open on election day. join us right here on "today." all right. breaking overnight, there is

hope that a crippling, weeks' long strike at boeing could soon be over. the company reaching a new contract deal with the largest union. union leaders urging its 33,000 members to accept the offer when it is put to a vote on monday. nbc's senior correspondent tom costello covers aviation. tom, they rejected an offer last week. so what's different this week? >> reporter: well, for a company in deep trouble, boeing desperately needs the sweetened deal to bring an end to this crippling strike. it's costing it $1 billion a month. boeing machinists walked off the job almost seven week ago, back on september 13th, halting production of the most critical aircraft for that company, including the 737, the 67, and the 777. now boeing is offering even higher wages. the proposal includes a 38% raise over several years. that's up from 35% which was in the offer rejected by the union last week. this means that the annual pay for machinists would increase from $76,000 to $119,000.
7:15 am
another change, the deal also bumps up the one-time ratification bonus to $12,000, which would go straight to paychecks, 401(k)s, or a combination of both. there is no offer to bring back pensions. that's been the main issue. the union has been demanding it, but, again, the union leadership wants members to take this deal, hoda. >> walk us through this again, tom. how quickly could this end? >> reporter: voting is set to begin on monday morning. lasts through the day. union says if the contact proposal passes, those 33,000 machinists, mostly in the seattle area, they'd be able to return to work on wednesday. by the way, boeing still planning to lay off 10% of its workforce. >> tom costello, thank you so much for that. we turn to craig now. good morning. >> good morning. savannah, hoda. good morning to you as well. this morning, the full scope of this week's catastrophic flooding in spain is now emerging. the death toll right now topping 150. the city of valencia has been declared a disaster zone.
