double digit margins. after the surprising stop in new mexico, he goes to virginia today. it may be in play. peter, laura. >> aaron, thank you very much. >> we have chuck todd for the latest. >> we'll get there. big game this weekend. >> we have a big game for a lot of americans on tuesday. so many folks are voting early. 60 million plus right now. more women. what is this pattern telling us? >> i'm hesitant to read too much into it and why. 2020 was such a unique year with covid with people voting in different ways and politicizing how you vote. more will vote than in 2020. if you try to read -- this is apples and blueberries. it's all fruit, but i'm just not

sure there's anything to read into it. >> will we know the answer sooner? >> that we will. i do think more people voting early means we should get more of the vote quicker, if you will, and i think in that sense, i'll give you a scenario where we won't find out for a long time, but if we're waiting, the east coast states, we should know by wednesday morning. i really believe that. >> let's layout the past for the 270. let's start with the vice president. how does she get there? >> the simple evident path for her is winning these three blue wall states. gets her to 270. we're assuming the omaha district. she doesn't have to win a single state in the sun belt. she sits a 270. if he wins everything else, he is two electoral votes short. if she loses pennsylvania, let's give her those two, she loses pennsylvania.

we give that to trump. if he wins georgia, which analysts believe, he is only one north carolina away and he's done. this is his simplest path. again, we don't have to wait for these west coast counts which will take a week to find out who's president. >> if she doesn't win pennsylvania, she has to win nevada. >> either north carolina or georgia. from there, look where we have her. she just needs one of the west coast states. i've been telling people this, north carolina and pennsylvania. if one of them wins them both, game over. there's really no realistic path. if they split it? that's when we know it's a long night. if she wins north carolina, we could be here in nevada waiting and waiting. remember, nevada will take a week. we'll have more ballots coming in and you will be used a lot on air because this is going to be

lawyers upon lawyers litigating which ballots can get fixed or cured is the language you will start to see. the provisional ballots. the nightmare scenario where we're waiting for weeks, the florida of 2000, is this one where she wins north carolina or georgia and he wins pennsylvania. then it makes these two states probably nevada, but either one of them, with their very long mail-in process that we have been waiting for ballots. >> we're playing in the land of hypotheticals right now. there is one scenario. 269 electoral votes each. how does that happen? >> if donald trump won the nebraska. you have her winning the blue wall states. if he wins that one omaha district, we're sitting at 269-269. >> i have to brush off my knowledge of the 12th amendment. >> we go to the house. it is one congressional

district. this is a -- this alaska is one member of congress. one member of the house. right now, it is a democratic member of the house. it is one of the closest house races in the country. we'll be waiting for that result. if we're sitting in 269-269 tie, we're wondering. the one vote will determine whether she votes for a democratic delegation or republican delegation. it is one vote. california will have one vote. alaska will have one vote. >> wow. >> that's the -- i guess that would be the triple nightmare scenario. by the way, this is a flaw that should be fixed in the constitution. it is ridiculous. >> we hope. >> it is way too easy for it to happen. there is another scenario where she carries the omaha district. he carries pennsylvania and georgia. she carries north carolina, wisconsin. he also carries michigan and she carries arizona and nevada.

why. entire towns are covered in mud and some areas, more rain is expected, as you can imagine, that might complicate rescue efforts. the majority of people now have had their power restored, but tens of thousands are cut off and unable to communicate by text messages. in some cases, firefighters have been siphoning gas from abandoned cars to power generators. a total of 10,000 soldiers and police officers will be deployed to help out on the ground. that's just been announced minutes ago. the convention center has been turned into temporary morgue as the search for the missing continues. the national weather service said in one area, it rained more than eight hours in the previous 20 months, that's staggering. take a look at this. you can see the before and after images of the eastern coast of spain. people are furious and they're directing their anger at officials. by the time some residents received the warning alerts on their phones tuesday night, the

water was already gushing into their homes and reaching their ceilings. some were trapped in the vehicles and businesses. authorities still don't know how many are missing. so the death toll is likely going to keep rising. guys, back to you. >> danielle, thank you. back here at home, opening statements under way on friday in the new york city courtroom for the former marina accused of choking a subway rider last year after he threatened other passengers. emilie ikeda has more. >> reporter: the body video as the criminal trial gets under way. the marine veteran facing manslaughter and criminally

negligent homicide charges for holding jordan kneely in the chokehold on the support way. the medical examiner said that chokehold killed the 30-year-old. penny's attorney says he was just trying to protect other passengers. >> he went to protect the lives of innocent strangers on the subway train from the terror. >> reporter: kneely who struggled with mental illness, was making threats of i will kill and had drugs in his system. but the prosecution argues that penny used too much force for far too long and unarmed kneely was unconscious for 51 seconds before penny let go. >> jordan was lying on the ground after being choked for six minutes straight and was never given aid. who is the villain?

>> reporter: attorneys reported this statement last year. >> i saw women and children and he was yelling in their faces saying these threats. i couldn't sit still. >> reporter: the trial is expected to last four to five weeks, penny could face 15 years in prison. >> emilie ikeda, thank you. the former police officer who fired in the apartment of bryonna taylor was convicted. his shots did not hit anyone, but some did go into the neighbor's apartment. taylor was shot and killed by another officer. that charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. embattled new york city mayor eric adams will stand trial on federal corruption charges next year. the federal judge set the trial

date on friday. the mayor is accused of taking gifts from the turkish government. adams' trial starts two months shy before the democratic mayor primary. he has denied any wrongdoing and does plan to run for re-election. time for the first check of the forecast. hard to believe halloween is behind us and thanksgiving upon us. we have angie lassman at metlife stadium in new jersey. what's going on? >> reporter: good morning, guys. you are right. i took a trip to east rutherford, new jersey, ahead of the thanksgiving day parade. we will talk more about that coming up. we have to get a look at the forecast. you notice i have a coat on. that's a bit of a change across the northeast. we've seen the cooler air filter in for folks across this region, but really it puts us where we should be.

on november 2nd. i'm kira klapper a bay area cemetery. this year is preparing in advance after a tense clash with

families last year on dia de los muertos as san jose police ended up getting involved when dozens of families were locked out of oak hill cemetery last year. it all started when guards had to intervene, forcing the property to close early for security reasons. this year, families and local activists are working with the cemetery to extend the hours, along with extra security. the oak hill cemetery did agree, which is great. we really appreciate it and we just hope to continue this without any issues moving forward, which i believe that, you know, as a community that that and, you know, a relationship with the cemetery and maintaining that communication, we can make that happen. this year, oak hill cemetery is allowing families to stay on the property until 8 p.m. tonight. we're going to turn now to cinthia pimentel with a look at our microclimate forecast. a little rain overnight. i know how exciting to get into a new month and

welcome that rain. we are starting to clear out, but those roads are slick and as it is some of the first rain of the season, just be careful with your early commute. wherever you're heading on this early saturday morning, we are looking at satellite and radar, not only showing us the rain overnight, but also some pockets of snow up into the sierra and some lightning through the central valley. if i zoom it in a little bit closer, give you a bit of a street view. here we are seeing some of those showers just east of milpitas along the east foothills. as you start to climb 130 there, and parts of 101 further down into san jose. overall, we should start to clear that activity here in the bay area, but still remain on watch if you are headed to the sierra later on this morning. the winter weather advisory there through 11 a.m. we see some light snowfall, about two to maybe four inches locally, up to eight inches in the higher peaks. also some gusty winds. just remember to bring those chains as we go throughout the day down here in the south bay. we should see those skies clearing. it will be cool though, so grab that jacket as the temperatures only reach into

we're going to watch thurms in the middle of the country. those will be across the plains. severe risk, as well. that continues as the system works to the east. multiple periods of heavy rain across the plains. the bull's-eye for the highest amounts will be texas, oklahoma, stretching into missouri and kansas. we'll see the highest amounts from five to eight inches. we'll be concerned about flooding. folks need the rain. we're dealing with dry conditions but not all at once. we'll see severe storm potentials last, not just

year is preparing in advance. after a tense clash among families last year on dia de los muertos. san jose police ended up getting involved when dozens of families were locked out of oak hill cemetery last year. it all started when guards had to intervene and force the property to close early for security reasons. this year, families and local activists are working with the cemetery to extend the hours, along with extra security. the oak hill cemetery

did agree, which is great. we really appreciate it and we just hope to continue this without any issues moving forward, which i believe that, you know, as a community that that and, you know, a relationship with the cemetery and maintaining that communication. we can make that happen. this year, oak hill cemetery is allowing families to stay on the property until 8:00 tonight. so how will the forecast be? let's check in with cinthia pimentel. hi, cynthia. good morning. good morning everyone. the grass might be a little damp from that overnight rain, but the skies should clear. temperatures will be a little cooler, though, as that front has swept on by. let's take a look at some of those totals. north bay did the best mount tam over an inch and a half there, as well as mount saint helena, close to about an inch and a quarter, and as well as moving south and east, ben lomond, of course, the santa cruz mountains always get a good amount of rain over half an inch there. skyline boulevard in oakland did very well, almost half an inch. but as you move down into the lower levels, of
