trail making their final pitches to undecided voters. vice president kamala harris is in new york after making a very unexpected stop. new york's not a state that's in jeopardy. it's going democratic, no doubt about it. but she's going to be on saturday night live tonight. harris's campaign has been relying on star power today with michelle obama, alicia keys and eva longoria stumping in minnesota and nevada. but harris is in new york, and the big appearance part of harris's final push for votes. she was in georgia and north carolina earlier, focusing on the differences between her and her opponent and if he is elected. donald trump on day one would be sitting in that office stewing over his enemies list. but when i am elected, i will walk in on your behalf, working on my to do list. former president trump held rallies in virginia and

north carolina today near charlotte. he doubled down on comments that he would protect women. i'm going to protect our women. i got into so much trouble. you saw that? i said, we will protect because i keep hearing i think the women love me. i do, because they know wel, you know what? if they don't have me, they got millions of people pouring through and coming up to the suburbs. mr. trump held a second rally in north carolina, very important state. that second one was in greensboro, in the bay area. people took part in early voting and made plans for election day. san francisco city hall, relatively busy, got people stopping by to vote in person to drop their mail in ballot in a ballot box. people we spoke with outside said they felt a sense of relief once they were done. i feel great about voting. i get emotional whenever i come out of the of the voting booth or voting location. i feel that way

right now, in particular this year, it's, you know, it's a historical election over the historic john's grill in downtown san francisco, staff and former san francisco mayor willie brown preparing for the annual election day luncheon. brown says the event is aimed at encouraging people to get out and vote on election day, november 5th, people can stop by for a free meal as well. the food is being dished out. 1130 to 130 on tuesday. there is a lot on the ballot as well. we want to help you get informed about our local races. just scan that qr code right there on your screen. it will take you to our full voter guide with information on all of the key races. turning to weather now, a live look across the bay area and clear skies. pretty much all the way from walnut creek to san jose and north and south of all those points. after rain moved through the region last night. let's get over to meteorologist rob mayeda to find out how much rain we got, we got, and what we can expect tonight. yeah, those rain totals pretty impressive

across the north bay locations from napa up to calistoga. mill valley, even out to fairfield, saw about a half inch of rain, but generally less than that south of san francisco, just barely enough to register as you head into san jose and the south bay. now, the second half of the weekend is going to wrap up with this wind advisory for solano county. so by this time tomorrow night, we'll begin to see the wind pick up. and this is in a sea breeze. these are the return of the offshore winds. so a dry wind will pick up as we approach midnight tomorrow night. you can see how the north bay hills and the diablo range could be looking at wind gusts above 45mph. so wind will be the top concern as we wrap up the weekend with the potential of even higher wind speeds. with a second offshore wind event for wednesday, we'll have the timing on that, and when rain could return to that 7-day forecast coming up in about ten minutes. rob sounds good. last night's storm brought fresh snow to the sierra and some beautiful video to check it out. this is at the uc berkeley sierra snow lab in

soda springs. lab got almost four inches of snow this morning. and that's. that's all they're going to get, at least for now. over to palisades tahoe. five inches of powder dusting the mountains and the resort says that brings its total preseason snowfall to 14in. that's getting you excited for ski season. you can hit the slopes at palisades starting november 27th. that's the day before thanksgiving when they're going to open for business. don't forget you can track the weather while you're on the go by using our nbc bay area app. all you can do, all you have to do is scan the qr code to download the free app. we just redesigned the weather section. it's more accurate than the weather app on your iphone. bart police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who stabbed a woman in an unprovoked attack in san francisco. this is surveillance picture of the suspect, described as an asian man, five foot eight, 160 pounds, with a black braid wrapped in a knot on his head. he also had a mustache. he was wearing mostly black clothing at the time.

police say the man stabbed a 54 year old woman around eight this morning on an antioch bound train. happened as a train pulled into the 24th street station in the mission district in san francisco. the victim has serious injuries. families are getting extra time to celebrate dia de los muertos at one san jose cemetery. after dozens were locked out last year. last november, the gates of the oak hill cemetery in west san jose closed an hour early. many couldn't get in to attend a dia de los muertos memorial service. oak hill said it closed the gates early because of security concerns. the families got into an argument with security. police ended up getting involved. this is video from the event tonight. peace was everywhere. it featured traditional music, dancers and a ofrenda. families and local activists worked with the cemetery to extend its hours today with extra security. in san francisco, crowds gathering to honor their ancestors at their annual dia de los muertos procession. the festivities are taking over several blocks in

the mission. that's where nbc bay area's alyssa goard joins us live. alyssa. teri, this event has been here in san francisco for 43 years, and some of the attendees tell us that they've been coming here for decades. people going to the event say that it's an important chance to get to remember loved ones who passed and to celebrate special traditions from making tamales to elaborate face painting, to gathering carnations. people say it feels significant to celebrate dia de los muertos here in san francisco. there are also altars and ofrendas, all around. people today tell us it's just a chance to share memories. we just pay respects, you know, it's a really important day for us to be together and to celebrate and not just be sad and mourn all the time. you know? and there's also a huge procession with hundreds of people making its way around the mission right now. it's expected to continue

for about another hour. finally wrapping up right here at bryant and 22nd. live in san francisco. alyssa goard, nbc, bay area news. alyssa, thank you very much. well, more controversy tonight for san jose state's volleyball team. today, the university says the team's associate head coach is, quote, not with the team at this time. the coach reportedly told another media outlet she was suspended indefinitely. but san jose state will not confirm whether she has been suspended. the school did not provide more details or confirm if the move has anything to do with the ongoing controversy about a reported transgender player on the team. we also reached out to the coach but have not yet heard back. well, that news came as san jose state defeated new mexico today, but another school is once again refusing to play the spartans. boise state is forfeiting for the second time this year, joining four other teams that have protested this player, with other athletes saying she has an unfair advantage. while the player in question has not come out as trans publicly, her teammate filed the claim when joining a

lawsuit to challenge the ncaa rules for trans athletes in women's sports. the controversy has drawn concerns of transphobia and led to san jose state stepping up security around the team. well, every year, thousands of families flock to emma prusch farm park in east san jose. but a conflict between the city and parks foundation led to a post on social media claiming the park's future was in trouble. as nbc bay area's marianne favro found out, that's not the case. we talked with parents who came here when they were little kids, and now they're bringing their own kids to emma prusch farm park, and they were thrilled to learn the park will remain open. who can resist a giant chicken slide? certainly not three year old twins archie and ollie. they come here to emma prusch farm park with their dad several times a month. the park spans 46 acres, and recently there was a dispute between the city of san jose and how the emma prusch farm park foundation was handling this one third of an

acre, known as emma's kitchen garden. our concerns around fundraising and communication and operational practices have made it difficult to maintain an effective partnership, and that's why we've decided to conclude those negotiations. the city of san jose has not had an agreement with the farm park foundation for more than a decade, so the city said it would no longer negotiate with the foundation and asked the volunteers to remove their tools by november 18th. some thought that meant the entire park was getting evicted and visitors were concerned it would close. we reached out to the foundation for comment, but have not yet received a response. the city says staff will maintain the garden. the park will remain open and no public events will be impacted, which is great news for dad riley and his boys. absolutely thrilled to hear that the park will be staying as is. maybe even getting better. who knows what they're going to do in san jose, marianne favro. nbc bay area news. coming up, 49ers

player is visible to a stadium or tv audience, including post-game interviews. bosa was not on today's list of players fined for week eight behavior. however, league sources say that doesn't mean anything because the nfl just take a little bit more time to weigh to how discipline him. now to $1 million question who are the big winners that are getting checks from elon musk this election season? and how were they picked? nbc's jorge solis tracked them down to find out. tonight, a clear pattern is emerging about the winners of elon musk's million dollar giveaways. nbc news finding at least nine of the 15 winners are either registered republicans or are republican leaning $1 million in at least one former democrat. we've just, over the years, seen the party change and really kind of do a 180. all of the winners live in one of the seven battleground states and appear in photos or videos. michigan winner ron conwell telling nbc news he found out he won when members of musk's

pro-trump super pac came to his door with an oversize check. i am a veteran, four years at west point, father of three. north carolina winner joshua mario emotional over the life changing, albeit scrutinized cash. but then $1 million shows up at my door, which is unheard of. musk, under growing legal scrutiny, himself accused of interfering with the federal election since announcing he'd randomly award prize money to voters who sign a pledge in favor of first and second amendment rights. if you already believe in the constitution, you're just signing something you already believe, and you can win a million dollars. but how winners are chosen remains unclear. the super pac, not responding to nbc news's multiple requests for comment about the process. all this as a civil lawsuit against the swing state sweepstakes heads back to court next week. musk's lawyers efforts to stall the case in federal court, brought forth by philly's democratic gia failing friday. the da accusing musk and the pac of operating an illegal lottery and trying to influence voters. no criminal charges have been filed, but for now, the

controversial cash contest continues, with winners expected to be announced through election day. jorge solis, nbc news. honoring veterans in the south bay. the cost of courage foundation held its 10th annual tribute to service gala. it was all to raise money to support veterans and military families struggling with food insecurity. guests gathered at the bay 101 card room in san jose. the event featured a red carpet, live music by the rock band tonic, and auctions for sports memorabilia and trips. organizers say it's critical for veterans to get extra help in addition to benefits from the government. there are so few of us, and it's so important because we really bridge the gap between the wonderful services that the government provides and the benefits that veterans are entitled to, but sometimes they need a little bit of extra help. and that's what our services are here to do. the cost of courage foundation supports military families and veterans with a food pantry at the presidio of monterey military base. the

organization also gives scholarships to veterans, spouses and children. a packed house at san francisco's davies symphony hall tonight to celebrate dia de los muertos, or day of the dead, through music. line fire. that looks like a party. the orchestra played both traditional and contemporary latin american music while the audience waved colorful balloons. well, with. like many celebrations, the event included ofrenda exhibits or large altars decorated with flowers, candles and pictures honoring loved ones. mexicans have a very specific concept about death, which is not the scary way of fearing death, but a way that everyday life, the more you enjoy life, the more you're going to be receiving death. today's festivities included a living altar called frida of the mission. as you can see, it features an artist who looks like the late mexican artist

frida kahlo. painting in front of an easel. rob mayeda joining us now. he's going to talk about the rain, the wind, maybe the snow. he's got everything to talk about tonight. we had all of it. yeah. we did. and now we're going to see. the rain has obviously moved out to sea. our snow has moved on, but the wind will be the big story by this time tomorrow night. winds starting to pick up. and as you're about to see temperatures also starting to climb up a little bit as we wrap up your weekend off on sunday. temperatures likely in the 70s today, a little bit below average in terms of highs, mostly mid to upper 60s and kind of chilly there. san francisco you see their high temperature of only 61 degrees and breezy right now 59 in san jose. still have some clouds over the santa clara valley but should see clearing skies for sunday. 59 degrees in walnut creek and up toward san rafael. 54 and san francisco. looking at partly cloudy skies and 57 degrees. so the wind speeds right now still onshore. notice which way the arrows are pointing. that is a

higher humidity direction coming in off the bay and over the ocean. they'll be in the opposite direction tomorrow, which will lead to the much drier conditions as we wrap up the weekend. the weather system that brought us the rain has started to move off towards the east and as high pressure builds in behind it, that will set into motion not only just the clearing skies, but the gusty offshore winds. one more chance of a few isolated showers. 2 a.m. overnight northwest coast of sonoma county. but notice how the clouds really do start to thin out for your sunday forecast. waking up to 40s and 50s. keep in mind time change tonight, so sunrise now shifts to the 6 a.m. our extra hour of sleep. sunrise. hour earlier. now in the morning and an hour earlier into the evening. sitting in the 5:00 hour for highs tomorrow. low 70s around san jose into morgan hill. inland east bay and tri-valley should see temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70. peninsula temperatures a little bit warmer than today 70 in redwood city tomorrow. downtown san francisco close to 70 degrees and north

bay. temperatures for your sunday might be some of the warmest around the bay area. up to 75 degrees in santa rosa, but keep in mind tomorrow night those wind speeds mainly for the higher peaks of the north bay mountains above 2000ft, do start to pick up. so we'll see those gusts above 45mph. and we'll also see a little bit of that for areas southward around the diablo range and bay area into sunday. but what looks to be a stronger wind pattern is what's taking shape on wednesday. low pressure to the east, strong signal that we could be looking at those gusty offshore winds. dry into monday, but there's potential we could see even drier conditions as things move forward into that wednesday forecast. you can see how that in purple indicating stronger winds, lower humidity levels could be a higher impact event for the middle part of the week. so while the temperatures don't change much, we'll be watching the wind. two rounds of gusty winds tomorrow night into monday morning, and the second on wednesday may not just be

first responders who were there that day. tried to save alex after the accident. family says they wanted to create a space for the community and channel their grief into joy and action. we hope it's a celebration of life for families and that, you know, for years to come. people come here to enjoy their children and just how incredible those years are and how precious life is when you're such a young child. the family also says they initially wanted to sponsor just a bench, but they felt a park offered so much more to the community. you may not be sleeping enough. that's according to a new report by the centers for disease control and prevention. the agency ranked bay area counties based on the percentage of people who are sleep deprived. that's anyone sleeping fewer than seven hours each night. solano county has the highest rate. if you live in solano county, 38% of the people there are sleep deprived. 32% of san francisco residents don't get enough sleep. it's about the same in the south bay, san mateo county has the lowest level of
