biden was the nominee, we see a tie race and we also see more of what we've been seeing at how voters are looking at the issues. this dynamic, too, kamala harris is the vice president in an unpopular administration, how much is that going to cause her trouble? biden has a final approval rating in our poll of 41%. incumbent running for re-election with that number very dangerous. lot of democrats were happy to see joe biden leave the race but harris is the still part of this administration, voters aren't too happy with it, how would they assess her with regards to that. also this, retrospective, we're asking voters in hindsight, 48% say they approved of how donald trump handled the job of president. highest of any poll we took during trump's presidency.

poll is on to something and the pollster has a very good track record in iowa, i think the key question is, is it something that's just happening within iowa? the argument for that in short would be, abortion politics have been center stage in iowa since this summer when a six-week ban went into effect, it's hugely controversial and while the presidential candidates haven't been campaigning there they have congressional races in iowa that are razor-thin and millions of dollars spent in ads this fall on abortion-related ads. this issue has particular resonance in iowa. but are there other states that could surprise us in. >> join us for complete decision 2024 election coverage. starting at 5:00 p.m. streaming right here on nbc news now, it picks up your local nbc station
