long list of things to get done. our mandate is to show how government must deliver on its promises. clean and safe streets for all. tackling our drug and behavioral health crisis. shaking up the corrupt and ineffective bureaucracy. building enough housing issues that are on the minds of san franciscans. housing go down. the crime rate go down. when you begin to look at what has happened over the last decade or so, it's just time for some fresh blood to come in. the mayor elect spent part of the day visiting neighborhoods and assuring residents he has the same love for this city that they do, and he'll show it by showing up for them every day, no matter who you supported in this election, we stand united in the fight for san francisco's future and a safer, more affordable city for all. i feel good here, and i believe that the new mayor will be able to take care of everyone. another

thing that impressed some san franciscans is the fact that the mayor elect said it's his intention to not collect a paycheck from the city, a job that many of them said is hard enough to do already. and the fact that he's willing to do it without collecting pay says a lot about his commitment to the city. thom jensen today in the bay. late last night, the california air resources board approved new clean air standards that are expected to raise gas prices. it's a step toward california's goals of significantly cutting the use of oil and gas by the year 2030. the plan adds new costs for oil refiners, which are expected to be passed through to the customer. the estimates vary from a few cents a gallon to as much as $0.85 more a gallon. the vote capped a 12 hour long meeting with a lot of public comment. the proposal had faced criticism from lawmakers, who said the air resources board was ambiguous about the costs that would be passed on to consumers,

school freshman only started taking pictures a few years ago. it was during the pandemic and parham was looking for something he could do outside the house. so he borrowed his mom's camera. probably when i was around 11, i started like, realizing i was kind of decent at this. decent doesn't begin to describe parham skills now. just this year, parham has won awards from the audubon society for his picture of kestrels mating and a wildlife photographer of the year award in london for this capture of a cooper's hawk eating a ground squirrel. i think it. it definitely shows a lot about like, life and death and the lighting is obviously really cool. i've always felt like i could do this if i like, really tried hard. but yeah, it's been surprising. like having all this happen so far this year. in addition to birds of prey, parham likes to focus his lens on coyotes and foxes. he spent years following a

family of foxes living at san jose's los largos golf course. in fact, almost all of parham's photos are ones that are getting attention around the world, have been taken just a short drive from his house or a ride from his parents until he's old enough to get his license. definitely. just like 10 to 15 minutes away from my house, there's a lot of stuff like that. i can find bay area. that's where i think i can do my best work, because i know all the wildlife that's here. parham isn't quite far enough along in his career to articulate just what makes him such a good photographer. he just knows he's got a good eye and a competitive spirit, and it's gone. the main part is, yeah, just wanting to be better and better, comparing myself to others and wanting to be like them. which, judging from what he has done so far, isn't that far off. garvin thomas
