in parts of the bay area from strong winds to possible flooding. our team is tracking the overnight trouble spots. some areas are already experiencing. plus, cracking down on google. federal regulators asking a federal judge to break up the tech giant. our scott mcgrew has more on the impact this may have on the company. this is today in the bay. here we go thursday morning. thanks for starting your day with us. it's 5:00, i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. we want to get right to that top story for you this morning. that storm moving across the bay area. our bob redell is live for us in the east bay with more on the way. residents are bracing for a possible flooding. but first, let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. she's tracking the rain. how's it looking, kari? it's still raining in the north bay, and we are seeing very spotty rain elsewhere. but the system is still driving heavy amounts of rainfall across the north bay. as well as the rest of far northern california. a look at
5:02 am
storm ranger. that's our mobile doppler radar. we have it parked on san bruno mountain. it is picking up on some light to moderate rain in parts of the north bay from sonoma county, extending upward toward lake and mendocino counties. but we also have a wave of showers from marin down to san francisco, as well as the peninsula and then some off and on light showers elsewhere in parts of the east bay. a closer look shows that it is still pretty much covered with wet weather across the north bay. and then also for san francisco. we have a light rain that continues this morning affecting your commute and as we go, hour by hour, we're still looking at more of this rain that will continue through 10 to 11:00, maybe even a little bit heavier as it continues to lift to the north and giving the rest of the bay area much more of a break from any rain chances, seeing a lot of clouds. and then we're still looking at rain into this evening for the north bay. but then tomorrow it starts to push back down. this is with the cold front kind of pushing the system farther south, and that's
5:03 am
when we are going to see much heavier rain for the rest of the bay area, starting at about this time tomorrow morning. so mostly still the north bay for today. we'll track this as it makes more of an impact across the rest of the bay area. coming up in a few minutes. okay. good to know. thank you. kari bob redell is in the east bay where wind right now is a big concern. hundreds of people we understand just got their power restored and bob pg&e saying anything yet more about what triggered that outage. they say it is storm related. we're here in danville until about ten 15 minutes ago, this strip mall was pitch black, but the power is back on here. along san ramon valley boulevard near sycamore valley road, just off of 680. i just checked the outage map from pg&e online. it does appear that some people, some customers still don't have power in this area. initially, the number was 650, now it's anywhere between 50 and 500. and again, pg&e says this was storm related. it is dry out here, so
5:04 am
we don't think it's rain related. possibly it is a little breezy. so we think when this power went out around two this morning, there must have been some pretty heavy winds. but again, at least some of the customers, especially those in the strip mall, do have their power back on. storms are expected here in the east bay by the end of the week. we're talking about tomorrow over the weekend, but up in the north bay, the wet weather has already arrived. the people who live in low lying areas or along creeks, they're preparing, as they always do when big storms are in the forecast. take, for example, sulfur creek. that's in napa county. it was barely a trickle yesterday morning, but as you can see last night, our own thom jensen, he was out there. he says it was much higher and muddy after that first day of heavy rain yesterday. people who live near it are ready for the worst. you never know what's going to happen, but just best prepare. and we had a week of over 100 degrees and now we have typhoon. that is true. that is very much what our weather has been like in the bay area. hot
5:05 am
weather followed by rain, cold, that sort of thing. by the way, sulfur creek still has to rise more than 11ft for there to be moderate flooding. more than 13ft for major flooding. not there yet. obviously. yesterday, most napa county creeks and rivers saw similar water level increases of 2 to 3ft. but again, there's still a long way from spilling over their banks. if you are living in a low lying area, you are concerned about flooding you probably already know this, but you should be aware if you're not that most local governments here in the bay area do offer free sandbags. you just go to those sandbag stations, fill up the bag of sand on your own and take it home. reporting live here in danville. bob redell today in the bay. all right, bob, thank you. don't forget, you can keep track of what's happening with this rain on our nbc bay area app if you haven't already done so. it's a great time to download it, because you're going to be able to see that storm as it's moving into your neighborhood. all you have to do is scan the qr code there on your screen to get your local weather the way you like it from the people you know, and the
5:06 am
roads are definitely wet. this morning. we want to check in right now with mike inouye. mike, i know you've been monitoring what's going on out there. how's it looking? you know, over here, the green highlighting shows you where the road weather index takes the amount of rain and says it's going to be wet in these areas, blue means even puddling and ponding. north 280 had a full stop as there was a solo car spin out, and that car was blocking multiple lanes. they did just clear it a few minutes ago and now there's recovery. traveling north up toward 380. here's sfo that's kind of the point where things start to calm down south of there. so south of there, things are much calmer than what bob and ginger will be following as well. the north bay does show a lot of this wet weather, having left some wet roadways as well, but so far the morning commute is moving all right. we see some slowing on highway 37. i'll check out if there's any other issues near mare island, but right now i wanted to show you the live camera rain actively falling here on the richmond side of the bridge between there and san rafael. back to you. thank you very much, mike. well, happening today in san mateo county. one supervisor leading the effort to oust the county's embattled sheriff is promising to provide

promising to provide an update on the investigation, which triggered the controversy. it comes as a mercury news reports all five captains in the sheriff's office are joining calls for her to resign with a no confidence vote. the controversy started with a 400 page independent report accusing sheriff cristina corpus of fostering a culture of fear and retaliation in her office. it also suggests she had a romantic relationship with her chief of staff. all claims she vigorously denies all while insisting she has no plans to resign. supervisor ray mueller cosponsored an ordinance calling for a special election to amend the county charter so supervisors can oust her. he is scheduling a news conference for this afternoon. also today, san francisco animal commission will recommend changes to the zoo. this comes in the wake of a scathing report last month calling the conditions there at the 95 year old facility outdated. the commission helped contribute to those findings, calling the quote extremely unsafe for visitors and animals.
5:08 am
the commission says that it plans to demand accountability, transparency and improvements to the facility during the joint zoo committee meeting this morning. now, of course, this all comes and it has plans to recommend the rejection of mayor london breed's plan to bring pandas to the zoo. in response to those findings, the san francisco zoo released a statement saying in part, quote, now the report was created based on a hypothetical scenario and prepared in collaboration with in defense of animals and panda watch. nevertheless, our animal care experts will thoroughly review the report and provide thoughtful response at a later date. now to a live look along i-80 in soda springs. this latest atmospheric river providing for some snowy road conditions up in the sierra chain, controls as you can understand, are in effect the winter. like conditions are allowing tahoe ski resorts to open early this year. that includes northstar. the slopes
5:09 am
actually opened today. heavenly ski resort started its seasonal operations yesterday and palisades tahoe opens tomorrow. now closer to home, a flood watch is in effect for the north bay. this is through saturday. rain totals are expected to be higher up there compared to the rest of the bay area. but as we get deeper into the rainy season, today in the bay cinthia pimentel is reminding everyone of the threats flooding can hav. hundreds of people die every year in floods. many of those deaths happen in cars, but this is preventable. let's take a look at this suv and you can see that just six inches of rain could make you lose control of your car. we're going to bump that rain up to a foot, foot and a half, two feet, and the car can actually be swept away. now, if you live in areas that have flooded before, park in higher ground if you can, and be especially careful when it's dark and harder to recognize these dangers, you've probably heard the rhyme turn around, don't drown. it's a good reminder this rainy season to avoid driving over flooded
5:10 am
areas. you never know how deep it really is. for a look at what we can expect on this second storm day, i'll hand it over to kari for more details. thanks, cynthia. definitely a great demonstration there, kind of showing you how you should never drive over where water covers the road. and we've been seeing that in parts of the north bay as this storm system continues to bring in waves of rain over the north bay. san francisco just starting to see that rain and the totals adding up. but we've also seen some of that extending across the bay into oakland and parts of alameda and contra costa counties. elsewhere, it has been pretty dry. so we're going to focus on the north bay, where we're seeing some pockets of heavy rain moving through parts of central and northern sonoma county in the north bay, farther to the north, around calistoga. still, that possibility of more flooding continues as we are now seeing the flood watch extended until early saturday morning. but also they're issuing flood advisories for the areas that have already started to see some flooding happening. and then looking at our hour by hour
5:11 am
forecast shows more activity as we go throughout the day. while most of the rest of the bay area still waiting on a good soaking, it's still going to be pouring in the north bay as this atmospheric river stalls out. but it will start to move by tomorrow morning and much more of the bay area will start to see some of that heavy rain and mike wet roads. the main headline here. yeah, exactly where it's raining is definitely an issue because it's been raining all night and continuing, as kari talked abou. folks, here's the golden gate bridge. you see the soupy conditions that will be a sloppy commute. and look at the maps, the road weather index shows you the green highlighting extending to and from the golden gate bridge north and south of there, but really the north bay has been hammered all night. we've heard of debris all over the roadway and there are some trees down, some wires down. we're tracking all of those stories, and we're looking at this area to the north of merced, of benicia and into vacaville with really having a lot of buildup. the rest of the east bay looking relatively calm. these green sensors are showing a nice smooth flow. we'll track any major issues back to you. all

only be in effect for the next 45 minutes. as we're starting to see those winds calming down after it got really gusty in spots yesterday, we are still looking at the rain returning and possibly the wind picking up again, so we'll track that coming up in the full microclimate forecast. all right. well it's hard to see the wind, but watch. this camera is talking about things calming down little by little right now. once in a while. there you go. the camera does move. we're on a rooftop in emeryville looking at the bay bridge. you can tell it's kind of soupy, a little wet in the roadway, and it's going to be slippery in many parts of the bay. we'll track that as we come up. well good morning. very

yeah. okay. i say that all the time. all right. thanks, guys. you guys are single guys like so you know okay. as if the little monsters fan base did not already have enough to look forward to next year, we can add this one to the list. yeah. you know, gaga fans right now, they are already no doubt planning their road trip to coachella. lay it down like one, two, three. eyes rolled back in ecstasy. i can smell your sickness, i can khoi young khoi young to see you like, who is that? okay, that's lady gaga, one of her new songs right there. so one of california's most popular music festivals, coachella. just announced the lineup that they have for next spring. lady gaga will be one of the major headliners there. gaga will also appear alongside fellow headliners green day and post malone. all of them will be performing both weekends. coachella is going to run april 11th through 13, and then april 18th through 20th. others on that lineup include missy elliott, charli xcx, megan thee stallion, a that's what she

says. yeah, that's really just the tip of the iceberg there. you can see the list if you go online and see that. now, i can tell you that the ticket presale that's going to start tomorrow at 11 a.m. so good luck to all those trying to get those tickets. all right. let's bring it back home for us this mornin. meteorologist kari hall tracking what we can expect from that weather today. certainly we know that there will be some rain in the forecast. yeah, rain for some other areas are still waiting on some wet weather. and it has been pouring in the north bay. still happening right now as you're heading out in san rafael, you can see those wet roads on 101. looking elsewhere, we have yet to see much in the way of rain for palo alto or walnut creek, as well as san jose. as we've seen, this storm system parked on san francisco and areas northward. but it's also slightly warmer. taking a look back at how much rain we've had in the north bay, we've had already 6.25in of rainfall for santa rosa. i mean, that is just off the charts there in napa, we've had over 2.5in of rainfall in fairfield almost an inch. and in oakland, close to a half inch
5:21 am
of rainfall, three quarters in san francisco and in half moon bay, about 3/10 of an inch of rainfall. livermore. you had a couple of sprinkles yesterday and nothing measured in san jose. so looking at the position of this system as it kind of slices the bay area in half of the haves and have nots, as we continue to see the heavy rain, it's moving from the peninsula into parts of the east bay, as well as the north bay and then some very light spotty showers farther to the south. so of course, with all of the heavy rain that we've seen, we've also been monitoring the rivers and creeks and streams with this being the first major storm, not expecting them to really start to overtop the banks. but we're still have we still have that possibility of some flooding as we go throughout the day, as some pockets of heavy rain continues to move across the north bay into the morning. tomorrow we start to see this atmospheric river starting to push south, and much more of the bay area will see some rain starting during the morning
5:22 am
commute and continue throughout the day. and then the focus kind of shifts farther south as we go, hour by hour, still looking at some heavy rain from areas south of san francisco into the east bay, south bay, as well as the peninsula and we're getting all of this rain this year is getting some snow. if you plan to head there this weekend, you might want to postpone travel or at least keep an eye on those possibilities of the road closures. a winter storm warning in effect, as we could see about 2 to 6in of snow below 7000ft, and this is so far in the upper elevations where we could see about 1 to 2ft of snow, and some really high winds, and this system starts to push to the south. and then on saturday, there may be some breaks in the activity, but then going into sunday, the next storm system comes in and that continues into monday. so we do have two atmospheric rivers. we're watching the one that we're seeing currently and another one next week. but check out thanksgiving. looks like it's
5:23 am
all clear as we approach our holiday and maybe planning when you'll be hitting the road based on the wet weather that we are going to see. but for today, into tomorrow, another inch and a half of rain possible for the north bay. still not expecting much until about tomorrow afternoon for the rest of the bay area. and then off and on. showers this weekend. new storm system early next week and then rain tapers off on wednesday. back to you. all right. thanks, gary. 522 right now coming up next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds a commuter's pass is a pain. so he asked us to punch his ticket. we did, and found a lesson for many transit investigator chris c hm

we're going to show you the unique drive through. event organizers say they hope it really helps keep the lights on for the popular christmas in the park. this is today in the bay. and a good wet start to your thursday morning. i'm marcus washington, and i'm laura garcia. we are in this microclimate weather alert with this atmospheric river just parked over the north bay. right now, we've got live team coverage on the storm's impact. now, kris sanchez is over at san jose airport. this is where flights are already delayed. ginger conejero saab monitoring the flood concerns down in the north bay for us this morning. all right. but first let's get a check of what's happening across the bay area. meteorologist kari hall of course. tracking this storm this morning. kari, how is it looking? well, you can definitely feel that we have microclimates across the bay area. and this is a great example of how one spot in the bay area has much different weather from what we're seeing elsewhere, all driven by this area of low pressure across the
5:32 am
pacific northwest. we can see the steady plume of moisture coming in and lots of heavy rain for the north bay. we've already had, in some spots, 6 to 10in of rainfall, and it's still coming down in those areas. and some lighter showers in san francisco, the peninsula and now extending over toward the east bay. a closer look shows that we are pretty much seeing a lot of green covering our storm ranger right now, and the heaviest rain is right around santa rosa, petaluma, rohnert park area, and right there on 101. and then also for the peninsula. we're still seeing that rain pouring in san mateo and extending across the bay. the north bay is still the focus for that rain today. look at how there's a sharp cutoff from san rafael on northward. we're seeing that rain and then farther south it's just cloudy and a little bit breezy. and that's what we're going to see throughout today. tomorrow we'll start to see this push system pushing to the south and eventually all of the rest of the bay area will get some
5:33 am
very high measured amounts of rainfall. so we're watching all of this as our temperatures will be changing, our weather will be changing. and also looking at conditions changing over the next 24 hours. so i'll have more updates on that coming up in just a few minutes. back to you. all right kerry. thank you. as you saw from carrie's report, of course, we're monitoring what's happening across the bay area. and this morning we are seeing some damage, especially in parts of the north bay. and that's where today in the bay ginger conejero saab joins us live from ginger. a few trees, i understand, came crashing down. that's right. and kerry was just talking about the amount of rainfall that the north bay has seen in the past 24 hours. that's not a surprise because it is still coming down and you can see the slick roads behind us. we're just off 101 here in north bay. now. we do have some new video just into our newsroom that i want to show you. take a look at this tree that came down overnight on bohemian highway just north of occidental in sonoma county. this happened around 230 this morning. we're
5:34 am
told the tree took down power lines. so the power is out in that area. now this follows another downed tree, this time a large fir tree onto a house in forestville. that tree fell around 430 yesterday afternoon. a woman suffered minor injuries with the impact destroying the house and a car that was parked outside. now, on the first night of this storm, there were power outages, downed trees and there was flooding. the water about a mile deep in places in santa rosa last night, over on the 200 block of burnett street, also in santa rosa, another tree came down and with it the lights went out as well for a couple, a couple dozen folks. now, one man described the tree fall and the light show that came with the destruction of solar panels. yeah, i was sitting right there, and through there i could see all the sparks from the transformer blowing. it's just showering sparks everywhere.
5:35 am
now, authorities, officials say that so far, things look manageable at this point. but as kari just mentioned, we do still have a ways to go in this storm. hopefully, the brunt of the north bay is or will see the effects kind of ease down tomorrow. do keep an eye out for school closures. we know that four schools are closed in sonoma county already. we'll have more on our 630 at 630 from the north bay, but for now, i'll send it back to you guys. all right. thanks, ginger. well, the storm we know is walloping travelers trying to get a head start on the holiday at sfo and other bay area airports. also feeling the impact. and with thanksgiving now, what a week away. you'll want to plan ahead today in the bay's kris sanchez joining us over there at san jose. mineta airport this morning. kris, folks, certainly already there, i can see the lights. i mean, it seems like people have really paid attention to that advice to get to the airport early. we've seen a steady flow of traffic, though. the planes don't start taking off for just a bit. here
5:36 am
we are dry. but boy, it is very, very windy and we know that that is a factor right now. one delay planned for sjc this morning, but we know that it is going to be a long day for folks who are traveling. i want to show you sfo right now where it is less stormy than in the north bay where ginger was. and that's what we've been seeing from kari's weather maps that, you know, not everybody is getting the same thing at the same time. conditions are better today than they were yesterday when there were 60 cancellations plus and more than 430 delays. travelers did wait at the airport. they tried to rebook on different flights. some of them had luck, but with the atmospheric river, there will be continuing impact. and when the weather is bad, it's stormy and windy with low visibility. sfo is only allowed to land a certain number of flights, so about 25 to 30 fewer flights per hour. and the weather at your destination is a factor. as well, our nbc bay
5:37 am
area aviation expert tells us. long, stormy patterns like this one create a domino effect. you say, well, i'm not going. you know, to new york or boston or denver or someplace where there's bad weather, your flight that could be coming in to take you to hawaii, sunny and warm, could be delayed because it's stuck someplace else in bad weather. and that appears to be what's happening here. sjc, this morning a plane is late. coming in, and that's the reason for that one delay. now, mccarran says always check your flight before you even put your feet on the ground next to your bedside, just so you know where your flight is or where your plane is. in fact, he recommends using the flight aware app. by the way, tuesday is expected to be the busiest travel day of the thanksgiving holiday, and although we're getting some little breaks here and there in this weather pattern tuesday, i heard kari talking about a quick moving system. so make sure that
5:38 am
you are planning ahead at sjc. kris sanchez today in the bay good advice. thank you so much, chris and don't forget, you can check that forecast on the go by downloading our free nbc bay area app. nbc bay area is streaming, of course, 24/7, so you always have the information right at your fingertips. it is free and available for all smart devices. a colorado judge today is expected to hold an emergency hearing in the recent lawsuit seeking to block a san jose state transgender volleyball player from taking part in next week's mountain west conference tournament. that player has not come out publicly and for concerns we're not naming her the lawsuit claims title nine rights are being violated by allowing a transgender athlete in women's sports. the plaintiffs include the spartans co-captain brooke slusser and an assistant coach who was recently suspended. the suit also calls for the spartans to forfeit games, one with the player in question. the tournament is scheduled to start next wednesday. well, port commissioners today are expected to weigh whether or not to

authorize modernization plans for the oakland airport. that project would update its terminals to meet current seismic and efficiency standards. some of the airport facilities date back to the 1960s. engineers last month completed the environmental impact report, which is up for final certification today. activists opposing that plan? well, they're promising to attend today's hearing as well. well, tonight is opening night for the san jose christmas in the park drive through edition. and it is newer tradition for some out there that is giving life to one of the city's oldest traditions. so the drive through experience was born really out of necessity during the pandemic, when we couldn't gather at christmas in the park in downtown san jose, organizers created a mile long light show through history park, set to music. and organizers say it was such a hit, they turned it into a way for people to get a little festive while raising funds to keep christmas in the park downtown free and open to all in our downtown park. we have over
5:40 am

night to go. yeah, i guess, you know, in the south bay. you'll be, you know, cozy in your car. yeah, but it really doesn't matter what's happening outside. even if it's raining, you can drive through and enjoy it from the comfort of your vehicle. so it does look like the rain still holds off for the south bay today. tomorrow. that's a different story. so maybe you do want to check it out tonight. and this weekend we have the big game. stanford and cal will still watching out for the rain possibility on saturday, especially earlier in the day. it looks like the rain chances decrease as we go into the afternoon, and it's going to be cool with those temperatures in the low 60s. going to tahoe this weekend. heads up that there will be rain changing over to snow as temperatures drop. it's still going to be fairly warm for tomorrow, but then on saturday that's when the cooler air comes in and we'll start to see it changing over to snow may be heavy at times, and then the temperature dropping down to 20 degrees, but it looks all clear on sunday ahead of the next system that will be coming in.

and for the weekend along the coastline. it will be in the upper 50s, off and on showers and saturday once again, as we when we may see a bit of a break. mike, you are looking at both directions on the bay bridge. yeah, we have the backup right here and now it is formed pretty suddenly over the course of the last few minutes, filling in all lanes here as you're looking toward the approach off the maze. no problems. and a gentle build on the upper east shore freeway. that's westbound your commute direction. this incident right there, also on the bay bridge approach out of san francisco. and i think it might be a bad place. it's just after i believe, the first street offramp, which will be your last opportunity to exit before getting to the bridge. and i think it's still blocked for the last few minutes. heard a jackknifed big rig was right there blocking the lanes, getting onto the lower deck. and so that is a problem. look how the speeds jam down from 40mph to just barely crawling at the scene. they might be able to use an express lane or an auxiliary lane on the side to get there. we're looking at tow trucks trying to get there. they need a medium rig for that jackknifed

tractor trailer out of san francisco onto the lower deck anywhere south of the san mateo bridge. our road weather index not registering any green, not showing any wet pavement. and that's probably better news because we've seen a lot of spinouts and single car crashes and slides off the roadway on and off ramps and transitions over the course of the last few hours. up north of there, as the south bay is kicking in with that northbound 101 build right there and a note tonight there's a concert at sap center that will be becky g concert. so watch for some pedestrians. if it gets a little tougher and conditions, they may have people running with their umbrellas. i doubt that's going to be the case. watch that though. watch out for them too. all right. thanks, mike. well, paying tribute to head on today in the bay, the way san jose sharks are set to honor legend joe thornton in washington. a big name is speaking out against one of president trump's picks for his ca

sexual misconduct. sexual crimes. vice president elect vance has gotten involved, taking gates, the pick for attorney general, to meet with senators yesterday. he'll do the same for hegseth. today, trump wants hegseth to run the department of defense. the ethics committee looked into allegations that gates had had sexual relationships with a high school girl while he was a congressman. that report will not be released. the thinking by republican leadership is gates is no longer a congressman. he quit last week. so the house has no jurisdiction. but republican congressman thom tillis says you'll get the results eventually. do you honestly think that the people who testified willingly are not going to share that information? so, look, i get it. it's going to undermine a hotline or a headline or a news story. but, you know, it's nonsense. most of it's going to be known. you've been around here a lot longer than me, at least. more details about the allegations against

5:54 am
then some of our highest rainfall totals. really hard to believe. but bonauto had close to 11in of rainfall just yesterday. angwin had over 7.5in of rainfall at the sonoma county airport. seven inches san anselmo had over five inches and three inches in novato, and then we're still seeing that rain coming down in san rafael. as you're heading out this morning, we are going to see the north bay. the focus of all of the heavy downpours. but tomorrow that storm starts to spread to the south. the tri-valley, the peninsula, the south bay will start to see some of that heavy rain, and it continues off and on throughout the weekend with some breaks here and there. but this is a look now at the system that is still driving all of that heavy rain, as well as some higher elevation snow for the cierra stormranger tracking all of this activity. and if you do have that nbc bay area app, you can zoom in to where you live. you can take it hour by hour, get the forecast, really help you make some plans, and it will also send you alerts as rain is
5:55 am
moving into your location. how long it will last. so we're still seeing some of that rain across sonoma county moving across san mateo and moving also across the san mateo bridge. well, the north bay still seeing some of the pockets of heavy rain today. notice how elsewhere it's just cloudy gray. kind of breezy at times as this system still streams to the north, but also is lifting further north going into the evening. so much more of the north bay may have a bit of a break. tomorrow it begins to push back to the south, along with some colder air, and it's going to sweep across the bay area tomorrow morning and then stall out over the south bay. so that's when we'll start to really rack up those rainfall totals for today. there could be another half inch of rainfall for santa rosa on northward. much less farther south. and then tomorrow, once again, that's when we start to see spots like san jose getting at least a half inch of rainfall, about the same in livermore. and additional rainfall in the north bay by saturday, we're catching a bit
5:56 am
of a break, and in total we may see another 2 to 3in of rainfall and then we are looking at a break for part of the weekend. but a new atmospheric river arrives late sunday into monday, and that's going to keep it unsettled, at least through wednesday. it looks like wednesday if you're planning on traveling for thanksgiving, the rain will start to taper off then and we are all dry beyond this 7-day forecast. and mike, you're still concerned about the bay bridge? yeah. both directions. the direction getting into the city that's westbound. we're looking from san francisco. our camera over california here we're looking at westbound a smooth flow. we have the backup and the metering lights. but getting out of the city, you can kind of make out the fact that there are still lights coming through out of the city onto that lower deck. the issue is over land. we still have that jackknifed big rig blocking four of your eastbound lanes. getting onto that lower deck. i believe you can still get by on one lane, restricted and quite a distraction. they have to get a heavy duty tow truck to clear that jackknifed big rig. that's a problem. getting out of san francisco. the green shows you the wet roadways, but a lighter commute
