the proposed increase in monthly bills, which could soon affect your bottom line. plus, so far, we're remaining in california at the low level. we do actually see other parts of the united states are starting to see an increase, which is expected ensuring a healthy holiday season as you look forward to family gatherings, we're taking a look at covid, flu and rsv outlook. this is today in the bay. good tuesday morning to you. thanks for starting your day with us i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. a lot to talk about this morning. but first let's get you caught up on that forecast. i was looking ahead. kari. i'm kind of excited that we get a little break. we're getting a break from the rain, but it's also going to be cold over these next few days. and there's still some rain lingering across parts of the region. so as we get a look at stormranger, we are all clear for much of the south bay right now, but still notice those
5:02 am
lingering showers in the north bay around the santa rosa area just south. and we're also seeing a lot of rain south of the bay area, as of much of the central coast and parts of socal gets some rain as well as snow as you go up in elevation. so that's going to be the case as we go throughout the day. temperature wise, we're headed for the upper 50s and low 60s. overall, it's going to be a cool and mostly cloudy day with some peeks of sunshine here and there. concord will see a high of 62. there, 60 in hayward and also upper 50s and low 60s for the peninsula into san francisco, 58 degrees for the outer sunset and in the north bay in the upper 50s and low 60s there as well. so we'll talk about the changes ahead. mike, you were looking at an incident on the bay bridge. yeah, i was watching. there's a slowdown. there was a disabled vehicle and your slow lane reportedly blocked around treasure island. although over the last few minutes, i saw some flashing lights moving across into san francisco. you see the traffic bunching up there? i believe they're still trying to get that
5:03 am
vehicle completely off the bridge. that's the reason for a little slowing on the decline in toward the first san francisco exit. again, that's westbound. so at that point, it's the upper deck getting into the city. the rest of the bay shows a lighter volume of traffic that road weather index still showing the green, where there's definitely some damp and slicker roadways at present in many parts of the bay. we're watching for that, but we're expecting the lighter volume of traffic through the area. the rain that carries talking about might affect folks heading to the southern california, and also over toward the sierra will give you more updates on that and more details coming up. back to you. thanks, mike. well, as we move into our season of holiday travel and gatherings, we shouldn't let our guards down. when it comes to the respiratory virus season. and flu was once our main worry, but now there are a number of viruses to keep track of. today in the bay's kris sanchez joining us from the newsroom with a look at the big picture here kris. good morning to you marcus and laura. so the good news is that of the three big respiratory viruses that usually surge during this time of year, mostly we are talking about low numbers, not just in california, but also nationwide, which will

matter if you are hopping on a plane. here's the big picture. flu is low, but rising in california and low across the u.s, covid low in california and stable or declining across the country. respiratory syncytial virus, or rsv, which is most dangerous for babies and elderly folks, is rising in california, but only elevated in the south and in the east. this is all according to data from the california department of public health and the cdc. the advice is still to mask up if you are gathering with someone vulnerable, or if you are headed into a crowded setting like an airport or an airplane, and you don't know how everybody else is feeling a while. many bay area counties are ordering their health care workers to mask up when they are providing patient care. there are no such orders for regular folks like us, but sonoma county's interim health officer says you have to do what's right for you and for your family. people have to realize you know, as we gather
5:05 am
for the holidays, as we come indoors, because it's colder, we're going to share our germs. it's inevitable. so any little thing that we can do, particularly even in family gatherings, if you have members of your family who are particularly vulnerable either either because they're elderly or because they have an immunosuppression, you know, their immune system doesn't work well. it's really important to remember that and try to protect those people as much as possible. another way to protect the people around you is to get vaccinated. the cdc recommends flu and covid vaccination, particularly for children five and under. adults 65 and older. for pregnant women and all people with underlying health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma or who, as the doctor says, are immunocompromised. while it is too late to boost your immunity through vaccines in time for thanksgiving, it is not too early to start thinking about christmas, hanukkah, new year's celebrations, and every

festivity that comes ahead. laura. they're all coming. thank you very much. 505 right now. vice president kamala harris is in san francisco this morning. she's continuing the vacation she started in hawaii. while it hasn't even been a month since she conceded to president elect donald trump, the speculation already pretty hot about her future. some are thinking it may be another run at the white house or for the governor's mansion here in california. political experts say it is a huge decision for harris. which path do i want? a path where i'm likely to succeed the governorship. a path that would be the top office in the world. the presidency, but much less of a guarantee with that choice. kamala harris is a brilliant, brilliant person, and she's a wonderful politician. she would make a fantastic governor. one cannot lose a presidential race. and then become the leader of a party. sadly, run for governor would be two years from now.

berkeley igs poll says nearly half of california voters would be very or somewhat likely to support her candidacy. turning now to the legal victory for president elect donald trump, his election interference case has been dismissed. this all comes after special counsel jack smith asked the judge to toss the filing. due to that long standing justice department policy, which bars the prosecution of a sitting president. the judge in the case agreed to do so without prejudice. smith also asked a judge to throw out the appeal of trump's classified documents. prosecution. however, he is requesting charges against two co-defendants in that case be allowed to proceed. don't get too comfortable with your current gas and power rates. it's about to get even harder to make it in the bay. that's because the bay area news group reports pg&e is seeking another rate hike. as soon as the start of next year. utility says the money is needed to meet added demand for new housing and development projects. if regulators approve the plans, customers would see an average increase of more than $4 a month. consumer advocates point

resorts have received more than a foot of snow since last week. there's still more snow in the forecast as well, but drivers are dealing with safer road conditions and no chain requirements along highway 50. yesterday, it was a lot of fun that could be found even without the skis and snowboards. we finally like, you know, find the spot. and we were like, yeah, i think it was enough, you know? it's enough space here so he can slide. he's he's actually enjoying it. the cierra is expected to be dry and cold by thanksgiving day. it's always cute when you see families pull to the side of the road and find a little hill and slide on down. i know the old school days. i remember that not so much in the bay area though. no snow here, but if you are traveling that direction, there's still some snow coming down. i wanted to show you this system that brought us some rain and is still bringing some spotty showers to the bay area is producing some snow for much of the sierra. it's mainly from south lake tahoe on southward.
5:10 am
if you're going to north lake in that area, the snow showers are a lot lighter. this is a live look at palisades tahoe this morning where we can see it looks fairly quiet. a fresh coating of some light snow coming down, and it will continue for the next few hours. but then by tomorrow it's going to be chilly. but all dry. and thanksgiving day we're looking at high temperatures in the low 40s. that's after starting out in the teens. so make sure you're packing those extra layers for that area. now we're going to see this winter storm warning in effect until 4 a.m. tomorrow. so there's still the possibility that there may be some chain controls and road closures. and it looks like beyond that point, we are going to see our weather improving. but as far as snow, there is only about 1 to 2in of additional snowfall. and this takes us all the way through next week where we're not expecting any more snow coming down. so that's kind of the downside. but i guess the upside is that you won't have many issues getting to the sierra and

mike, if you're filling up this morning, where can we find those lower prices? yeah. you don't want to run out of gas if you're heading through the sierra. best price in the bay. this top ten worthy. it's the alameda county. of course we have 349 in livermore at marathon on home street today. the south bay, santa clara's best is in the middle here. it's three. 77 at platinum gas on washington street and in the city. san francisco's low is 379. make it quick and head to double time on mission street. you can check all those prices as they change. or maybe you're heading to a different area. this over this holiday. we're looking at gasbuddy.com on the roadway. we're looking at lighter traffic volume overall. and now that the rain has eased up. better conditions, but still slick in many spots. so watch where those green highlighting those puddling and ponding may be at some intersections as well. and the bay bridge. we still have a slower drive traveling across into the city. i believe they've got that cleared. the disabled vehicle cleared. their crews have cleared from their overnight road work. yes, they were working in the drizzle there as well, but they're clear

will be dry. and that's what we're expecting over the next several days, even into the weekend, we may see some spotty showers farther south, but even that looks like it's kind of backing off on that resolution as we take a look at our computer models. so it looks pretty dry for our thanksgiving holiday into the weekend. it's just going to be cold in the mornings with those lows down into the mid 30s. and mike, you're seeing the bay bridge in recovery mode now. yeah. traffic not so demure. so be mindful. there's some slowing. they did clear the vehicle off on the san francisco side, but not before they had to break traffic enough to cause that ripple. so from treasure island this backup is rippling back along the area, past the tower and then not really affecting the incline, but that's blending in with a little more traffic. we should have plenty of time for this to recover before the build comes over from the east bay, with lighter volume of traffic expected today. still some slick spots that kari talking about 101 northbound into nevada. that crash did clear as well after a traffic break, and we're looking
