family's thanksgiving. plus drying up ahead of the holiday. meteorologist kari hall has a look at your weekend forecast. this is today in the bay. good wednesday morning to you. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. all right. let's get a look at what we can expect from that forecast this morning. kari. how's it looking? we are looking really good. i mean, i don't know if it could get any better. when we talk about our thanksgiving forecast, not having to worry about storms or sierra snow, things are clearing out after a wet start to the week. so right now it is getting a little chilly out there. we're at 42 in walnut creek, and it's 53 in san francisco and 50 in palo alto. after our cool morning start in some spots it has dipped into the 30s. in the north bay, we're seeing some patches of fog, and now 36 degrees in san rafael, but a gradual warm up with lots of sunshine today and our highs headed for the low 60s for many in the north bay, as well as the

south bay. we'll track our thanksgiving forecast coming up in a few minutes. and mike, you're still tracking that traffic alert. i am kari, folks. despite the lighter volume of traffic, which we anticipated for this morning and the good driving conditions compared to when the rain was coming through earlier this week, we do have one alert, and this is for southbound 680 down in through san ramon, right at crow canyon road, or just about there. overnight we did have a deadly crash involving a pedestrian on southbound 680. the coroner has yet to arrive to do the full investigation and file the report. so we may be down to just one lane. right now. we've seen a pretty consistent stretch of slowing past the scene. lighter traffic coming out of contra costa county does keep traffic moving pretty well outside of that one short stretch of southbound 680, we are looking in toward the piedmont hills, where there is another deadly crash. it's on a surface streets king at hampton. it's not affecting the freeways, but for the details on that, on it. back to laura. that is our breaking news of this morning. mike, the chp are at the scene.

they're saying three people died in this really horrific crash. take a look at the video from the scene. this is at king and hampton. as mike just mentioned, a mangled tesla cybertruck is up against a retaining wall there. the chp says the crash happened a little before 330 this morning. we're still waiting to talk to investigators that still remain at the scene, but we do know the surrounding streets, as mike mentioned, are closed at this time. well, after more than a year of fighting, president joe biden announcing the united states helped broker a ceasefire deal between israel and hezbollah. now that deal went into effect earlier this morning, lebanese officials saying that more than 3000 of its citizens have been killed in the war. today in the bay brie jackson live for us from washington this morning and bri tens of thousands of israelis have also fled due to the conflict. there. that's right. good morning. marcus. so president biden outlined that deal from the white house yesterday, calling the agreement between israel and hezbollah good news. a cease fire between

of the deal. if hezbollah tries to attack us, if it arms itself, if it rebuilds infrastructure next to the borders, we will attack them. while israel and hezbollah agree to a truce, the deal did not address the war in gaza. the biden administration vows to continue pushing for a ceasefire there and to bring the remaining hostages home. that enables the people of gaza to move forward with their lives without hamas and with israel having pulled out of gaza, u.s. officials say that's not likely to happen before president biden leaves office, and president biden said that the u.s. and france will provide the necessary assistance to ensure that this deal is implemented fully and effectively, and emphasized that there will be no u.s. troops deployed in southern lebanon. marcus. things are changing every day. all right. brie jackson in washington for us. brie. thank you. new at six

time could be reportedly dwindling for families who live in san francisco shelters. the chronicle says it obtained a memo for a list of planned reforms by the san francisco department of homelessness and supportive housing. under a current policy, families can extend their stay in any shelter or voucher program for up to 90 days. but starting december 10th, they will only be able to stay for 90 days total. that's unless they qualify for a 30 day extension. the new rules also mean that families who deny a housing offer could no longer be eligible for shelter services, unless they face extenuating circumstances. the department tells the chronicle the changes are meant to prioritize families with the most critical needs. homeless advocates say the new rules will negatively impact the unhoused. one south bay family needs your help. this is after a heartless crime. a theft happened. a thief stealing a

the holiday season, and see what changes, because we have had that experience that after black friday, as you get closer, then retailers say, wait, why is nobody buying the, you know, the bonfire thing and they drop the price? there you go. they got to offload it. although i do feel like black friday started on monday really did well. and some of these are advertising. these are black friday, right. exactly. wait a minute. yeah. all right. just give it to me at a discount. i hope you got my name for secret santa. then. it's not bob. all right, well, if all goes well, you'll soon be able to zip across lake tahoe in about 30 minutes, a flying electric hydrofoil ferry, now in the works made by a swedish company. completely electric. and it looks like it's flying above the water. it will hold about 30 people. raj mathai spoke one on one with ryan mitzner. he's the founder and ceo of fly tahoe, which will run the ferry when it's fully operational. he says the new technology will help people living in tahoe get from point a

menu. so he took action and we should point out his argument is pretty darn convincing. the first time we had it, i was lik, oh, this is pretty good. but that was in second grade. this is third grade. and i was like, where's the strawberry milk? because we had it last year. it kind of has like an ice cream kind of flavor, like melted strawberry ice cream. how am i supposed to like get strawberry milk without having to ask a teacher? you know what he did? what did he do? caleb's teacher says he wrote a letter to the principal, which she then helped him polish with a few rewrites. he then delivered the letter to the district superintendent, who eventually gave it the official stamp of approval. not only for his school, but all schools in the district. so caleb bringing back strawberry milk to cafeteria at a time live. caleb. hey, listen. wow, they need to make that happen in the bay area too, because my son will be very
6:21 am
happy. he loves strawberry milk, too. it's pretty sweet. yes, there's something it's. yeah. it's kari. it's more more ice cream like than chocolate milk. exactly. the ice cream. yeah. there you go. ice cream. that's what i heard. sounds like. all right. no school for the kids now. and as they're getting up, heading out, maybe you'll be hitting the road to go see some family. or have some family coming into the bay area. it's going to be chilly out there and all clear. right now in santa rosa, it is 38 degrees 48 in pleasanton and 52 in oakland. and then as we take a look at our live view of san rafael, at least here there is no fog in the sky, is clearing and the temperatures have dipped down to 36 degrees here. it will be 40 at 7:00, and throughout the day we'll see temperatures gradually warming up. but at least the sunshine will make it feel a little bit better outside napa today. headed for 62. also 62 for a high today in oakland. palo alto 60 degrees and it will be about the same tomorrow. after a cold morning start, it will head for the upper 50s and
6:22 am
low 60s. so speaking of cold weather, we will have a frost advisory in effect for the inland areas from the north bay to the tri-valley down to the south county. we're looking at overnight lows for tomorrow, as well as heading into the weekend. it will be very chilly. you want to make sure you're protecting people, pipes and plants as well as those pets dealing with the overnight lows that will dip down very close to freezing, and we may even see some frosty conditions in some of those elevated surfaces, like your vehicle early tomorrow morning. but then after a cold start in san jose, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds and highs headed for the low 60s. really nice thanksgiving forecast. even looking beyond, we don't see any major changes across the region. storms staying away. temperatures that are cool will continue to settle in and it will continue into the start of december. so our 7-day forecast is all sunny here. cool mornings and mild afternoons will

6:27 am
returning 1 to 3 gifts. jenna did not misspeak. almost half of shoppers will return 1 to 3 gifts each. that's a lot of back pedaling merchandise. the good news is many stores actually loosen their policies and extend their return windows this time of year. but you're not automatically entitled to a refund or exchange. the california attorney general's office says refunds and exchanges are not required by law. when a store has a no return policy, the ag says they must tell you with signs posted on each door or at each register. bottom line check a store's return policy before you check out. have that be a deciding factor for where you shop? if the return policy is difficult or has a really tight window, then that can be your sign to look elsewhere. if you run into a return runaround, let us know. snap the qr code on screen right now to fill out our consumer complaint form online. happy thanksgiving! same to you,

6:32 am
and surrounding streets there remain closed at this hour. let's check in with mike in norway. what are you seeing? i know the streets are closed. what a horrific crash. yeah, it's a horrible scene. i would imagine over at that portion of piedmont that is well off of highway 13 and 580. those are both clear. avoid the area, though. the intersection of king and hampton, as both chp fire department as well as local police have all been there this morning. and of course, to continue the investigation over there, we are looking at the freeways that are lighter, though, in that area. this freeway, 680 had an early morning deadly crash as well. yes. two deadly crashes are on our grid. this one is at crow canyon road. you may be down to one lane. the lighter volume of traffic keeps things moving smoothly, but they have to conduct that investigation. someone lost their life on 680 there, and that may clear over the next half hour. the rest of the roads are moving smoothly. probably a lot busier toward those airports. so over to you. that's right. we have a live look at san jose international this morning, where that holiday travel rush is underway across the bay area airports, as well
6:33 am
as the roads going to be busy. we've got team coverage with our ginger conejero saab at sfo watching the conditions there, but we want to kick things off with meteorologist kari hall because she has a look at what we can expect from the weather out there for the rest of the week, too. yeah, so it is looking nice and clear. didn't look too bad there at sjc, so that's some good news. let's check on the delays across the country. we're not seeing any major storms, but there are still some delays now popping up in denver where some light snow is falling and it's averaging right now at about 26 minutes. but looking elsewhere for the major airports, no delays or not seeing any so far here across the bay area, we don't want to jinx it. here's a look at your forecast for some of the halloween themed names and cities across the country. how about bountiful, utah, where we are seeing some of the light snow showers moving through there, as well as in parts of the midwest? buttermilk, oklahoma. we are going to see some rain just north of there, but overall things are looking
6:34 am
