profile san francisco murder trial of nima momeni. jurors are weighing the fate of zenni, who prosecutors say murdered tech ceo bob lee. today in the bay's bob redell is live this morning and bob, as we have followed throughout this case, jurors have a lot to consider. exactly. good morning to kris. first, with exactly what the potential charge during the trial. both sides agreed and neither side argued about this. lee was stabbed. bob lee was stabbed to death in april 2023 during a tense encounter involving nima momeni. he's the man on trial here. the question jurors must answer is what led up to the stabbing? the defense has argued that lee actually brandished the knife, which he then used in self-defense. the actual weapon was never presented in court as evidence. but after jurors received the case yesterday, the judge instructed them they must consider a single count of first degree murder with an enhancement of using a deadly weapon. but if they cannot reach
6:05 am
a unanimous verdict on that, they can consider a lesser charge of second degree murder, or even voluntary or involuntary manslaughter. outside court yesterday, lee's ex-wife talked about friends of theirs awaiting word from the jury. it was offering his love and sympathy and said, i can be on the next flight here, you know. don't worry, honey. we'll let you know when we hopefully. fingers crossed we will have something to celebrate. but this is not exactly something that you want to celebrate. our hearts are all broken. nima momeni mother was also at the courthouse yesterday, but did not talk with the media. deliberations are scheduled to resume this morning around 930. reporting live. bob redell. today in the bay. long days for those jurors. thank you very much, bob. well, when that jury reaches a decision, we will break into programing to bring you that verdict and we will send a breaking news alert on ourbc bay area app. and of course, we'll have complete coverage here on nbc bay area.

the manhunt continues for the shooter, who killed the ceo of united health care. this was outside of a hilton hotel in new york, just blocks away from rockefeller. center. a warning the images you're about to see have motives at this time, but every indication is that this was a premeditated, targeted attack. 50 year old brian thompson arrived in new york on monday from minnesota to speak at the united health care annual investors conference. this is at a hilton hotel where he can be seen right here on this surveillance video yesterday morning, walking down west 54th street. then that man you see there in the dark, jacket and gray backpack pulls out a gun and fires at thompson three times. all of this happened in front of a woman who was able to run away unharmed. a man also watched this all unfold from his car. a shock, you know, because this first time i see crime in front of me, i was shocked. and

beginning of december, and then checking in on our drought monitor, which was just updated minutes ago. we can see how widespread the drought is across the country. before the bay area, we have been removed from even abnormally dry conditions after that big atmospheric river that we had last month. and the yellow area is abnormally dry that we can see for parts of the tri-valley and the south bay. those areas that really didn't measure much with that last storm system. but the sierra got a huge boost, and the northern sierra is double its normal amount for this date. but unfortunately, that number will shrink because we don't have any more storms coming our way. it's going to stay dry through at least the middle to end of next week. so our 7-day forecast shows all of that sunshine, with the exception of a few clouds on saturday. and cooler temperatures next week. micah, most of the change has been in the east bay, and it's mostly because of that volume of traffic c kicking throughout the east bay. here's the richmond bridge heading over
