kristen joins us now. good morning, kristen. >> hoda, good morning to you. in our interview, president-elect trump laid out a sweeping agenda for the next four years and his first 100 days in office. he said he wants to focus on the economy, the border, and getng his nominees confirmed. >> have you thought about your message? >> reporter: we began our conversation with president-elect trump on the economy and his threat to impose tariffs on america's three biggest trading partners, mexico, canada, and china, which experts warn could lead to a surge in prices. >> can you guarantee american families won't pay more? >> i can't guarantee anything. i can't guarantee tomorrow. i'm a big believer in tariffs. i think tariffs are the most beautiful word. i think they're beautiful. it's going to make us rich. >> reporter: the president-elect is standing by one of his key campaign promises, saying he has no choice but to deport everyone who is illegally in the united states. >> you've talked about prioritizing people who have criminal histories.

person of interest wanted for questioning in the midtown murder of united health care ceo brian thompson. one shows a man wearing a black jacket and surgical mask in the back of a taxi. the other through a car window. it's the same taxi he took to the george washington bridge bus terminal shortly after the murder, where the nypd says it has video of the man entering the bus center wednesday morning but not leaving. >> we have reason to believe that the person in question has left new york city. >> reporter: investigators combing central park over the weekend with nypd's elite scuba dive team scouring the lake, according to two law enforcement sources, for the firearm used in after a gray backpack was recovered in the park which police believe belonged to the gunman. three sources say a jacket was found inside, though it's unclear if it's the same one worn by the shooter. two sources say investigators also found monopoly money. >> you're like, was some purpose of that?
7:13 am
why monopoly money? >> reporter: detectives say dna evidence is still being processed. as for the potential that the shooter took a bus out of town, the nypd says they don't know which one he might have boarded. some of the many destinations listed on the port authority's website include boston, buffalo, binghamton, philadelphia, and washington, d.c. in the wake of the murder, backlash against the insurance industry. >> i don't think anyone should feel bad about this. >> reporter: from a shooter look alike contest in new york city to critical comments online, as united health care headquarters in minnesota is surrounded by temporary fencing and a police trailer. the company says they're partnering with local law enforcement to ensure a safe work environment and reinforce security. and besides the scuba team's search there in central park, a senior law enforcement official confirms two other searches were conducted near the g.w. bridge. neither one yielded the weapon. we also confirmed that today will be the funeral for brian thompson.
7:14 am
it'll be a private service. back to you. >> thank you, sam. turn now to analyst clint watts, a former special agent with the fbi. what do you make of where this search stands? are you surprised there hasn't been more progress? >> i am surprised to some degree, but, you know, we need to remember how this is different from other cases i might be here talking to you about. this shooter went to great lengths to hide their tracks. they thought it through. they were in town for a while. definitely did some sort of reconnaissance. knew where the target was and built a plan all the way through. now, this doesn't mean that law enforcement isn't further ahead than we might think. they haven't revealed the name, but they may have a name of a suspect. generally, you wouldn't reveal that name unless you needed the public to help you. there's no real reason to put that name out there. i wouldn't be surprised if we do see some progress. going through the video footage, you see a picture here and there every day or two. it's a tremendous effort to go through all of that footage. >> the evidence, some of it is strange, actually. the monopoly money they found in the backpack.
7:15 am
also the weapon used. so what do those two pieces tell you about the shooter? >> tremendous amounts of preplanning. you go back to the encryptions, you know, that were written on the rounds, tying it back to the health care industry. you look at the monopoly money. that might also signal kind of to the ideology. i wouldn't be surprised as they track this individual in future days, we start to see other signals like that, of what the motive was about. this individual seemed to plan this out a the way through. with the weapon, that's a very unique weapon. that could be a piece of evidence that law enforcement can really use. there are not that many of those weapons out there. you could look at when were weapons like this acquired. is anyone missing one? that might be one of the only advantages that law enforcement might have right now. >> clint, thank you very much. a lot to get to, including explosive allegations being made against rap icon jay-z. a civil lawsuit accuses him of raping a 13-year-old girl with sean "diddy" combs, something
