of course. i'm marcus washington and i'm ginger conejero saab in for laura garcia. mike, we're going to take a look at the roads and that weather on the roads. but first we're going to get a start with the forecast with kari. yeah it's foggy once again. and we've started to see that fog develop, developing in areas that are not used to seeing that fog. as we take a look at the dense fog advisory that will be in effect until 9:00 this morning for these areas shaded in blue. it includes all of our valleys across the bay area, and it's going to be in some spots,
5:04 am
really low visibility, but in other areas it's completely clear. and that's what we're seeing for palo alto as we take a live look at that camera. and then looking at walnut creek, where right now it is clear. and it's also clear in san francisco. so it's mainly the south bay as well as the north bay, where we are seeing some thicker patches of fog this morning. and then once it clears up, we are going to see temperatures heading into the upper 50s for martinez, 59 for concord and napa. today it's going to be up to 60 degrees. we will see 60 as well for san francisco and some slightly warmer temperatures for the south county into the afternoon with upper 60s for later today. but take a look at tomorrow if we don't see that fog hanging around for a while, we are going to see the highs up to the low 70s for the south county. it's going to be nice to have the warmer weather there, as well as some nice mild conditions with mostly sunny sky into the end of
5:05 am
the week. 64 will be the high in napa as well as san francisco, and that fog may also have an impact on your drive this morning. so we're monitoring those conditions. we've been looking around at a lot of the cameras, mike, and you are seeing that it has been very hit or miss, even though we were hitting that, even though yesterday we were talking a lot about the fog and its impact around the bay. today we're seeing a lot more prevalent and a lot more of our cameras. here's the bay bridge toll plaza visibility. you can tell that there's low clouds, fog in the air, and that impedes our view of the eastshore freeway from the bay bridge. you don't see those lights down there, but you can see on the deck itself while you're crossing the span watch mid span. there may be some fog registering over there. you can see the yellow highlighting in san francisco along the embarcadero side, not along the western shore there. that may be the case in patches, though. of course the bay bridge bay is used to that. in the north bay, we tend to have that fog convening just north of novato. that will be a factor heading
5:06 am
north in through petaluma and coming acrcross like yesterday. the carquinez is in the benicia bridge. we have a lot of fog registering for north across the delta along the delta. highway four has that same amount of fog or visibility may be a factor. no major problems yesterday, but it's creeping down to highway 24 and the caldecott tunnel, so we'll watch for those sensitive commute areas early in the commute. just in the last three minutes we've seen this, the sensors have lit up again northbound 680. overnight we had road work traveling up with a full closure of 680 through pleasanton, out of sunol and heading up to dublin. those lanes have cleared up, the sensors have lit up, but i'm going to watch to make sure all those crews are clear. on and off ramps may take a few more minutes. a smooth drive and notice, like yesterday, even though we often see fog through dublin, we don't today during the foggy weather. but look at the rest of the bay south. a lot of south bay fog. again, that will be a factor through sunnyvale, san jose, santa clara, cupertino, back over to you. all right mike, thank you. with the friday deadline looming, lawmakers on capitol hill are scrambling to finalize a short term bill to fund the
5:07 am
government or face a shutdown. today in the bay's brie jackson in washington for us this morning with more lawmakers are racing to avoid another potential partial government shutdown. republicans unveiling a short term bill overnight. it'll go to march 14th. and that date was chosen because it coincides with the calendars of the house and senate. and it makes sense for us to get the appropriations done. but our aim is to do it early in the year. among other things, the bill includes $100 billion for disaster relief funding for damage caused by hurricanes helene and milton. there's also $10 billion in aid for farmers, something many republicans support. but the overall size and scope of the measure is drawing pushback from some members ofof the gop. it's a tol dumpster fire. i think it's garbage. this is what washington, d.c. has done. this is why i ran for congress. try to stop this. top senate republicans blame democrats for the last minute push. we're dealing with this mess because
5:08 am
the democrats here in the senate failed to take up what i think are the most basic responsibilities of our government, and that's to fund the military and obviously to spend wisely the taxpayer dollars. democrats say getting the measure through congress before funding expires is a top priority. we're getting closer to the december 20th deadline. so time is of the essence for republicans to reach an agreement with us that we can act on quickly. we are heading into the holidays, and the nation really needs a bipartisan package that will prevent a needless shutdown. the bill also addresses rising concerns about recent drone sightings that have shut down u.s. airspace in washington, brie jackson nbc news. well, the man who murdered cashapp founder bob lee in san francisco will not learn his exact fate until next month at the earliest. that's when nima momeni will be back in court for a hearing to set his sentencing. the judge yesterday scheduled a
5:09 am
january 10th court date after jurors yesterday convicted momeni of second degree murder. momeni faces 16 years to life in prison. outside the courthouse, district attorney brooke jenkins called the verdict somewhat of a redemption for san francisco. elon musk took to twitter to make an effort to really shame san francisco, and to make it seem like this was about lawlessness in san francisco and about what's going on out in our streets. and we knew it was something different. these family members were disappointed. the jury chose not to convict momeni on first degree murder. the verdict comes just days before bob lee would have turned 45. two people are injured and a popular bar now closed after a car smashed through the store front. it happened a little after 3 p.m. yesterday at the mira loma club in san francisco. that's west of twin peaks on portola drive. police say the two people injured were inside the bar at
5:10 am
the time. one of them suffered serious injuries. a third person was injured but refused to be transported to the hospital. police are still investigating and so far are releasing no details on the driver. a cal fire battalion chief is talking about what? certainly on the west coast is something not many will ever experience for themselves. the terror of being in the direct path of a tornado. manuel garcia was driving his department issued truck in scotts valley saturday. that's when that storm surrounded him, suddenly turning furious. now the truck flipped over with his michelle and equipment in the back, nowhere to be found. the man he actually managed to shoot. some of the dramatic video you're seeing right here. this is from his phone. after calling for help and witnesses later told other first responders that that wind sent his truck about ten feet in the air. he tells us what he remembers. all of a sudden i see a van in front of me. start moving. start leaning towards the side, and next thing you know, i'm up in the air and just
5:11 am
got turned around, knocked completely, turned around. but i got turned thether direction slightly and just got dropped. so garcia ended up kicking the front windshield out of the truck to escape that flipped vehicle. wow. okay, so then first responders, the first responder in him instantly kick in, helpiping others who were around him. he's now recovering at home and says that he can't wait to get back on the job. it's 510. we're going to take a live look outside. a bit of a foggy start to this morning. the more of an outlook from kari here. kari, is this going to continue on through the day? yes. so this is going to linger for the next few hours as the fog hangs around, reduces the visibility. and we are seeing it now down to about a quarter of a mile in oakland as well as concord. but of course, as you're traveling in between these sites, you may run into a thick patch and then it clears
5:12 am
up. it's been pretty clear for parts of the east bay, but not the south bay. here is a look live at the san jose camera, where we can see that fog settling down to the ground. and then in fremont, well, you can barely see anything there. a few of the headlights driving on the road this morning, as temperatures in some spots have dipped into the upper 30s. it is a cold one for areas that are not blanketed by fog. we are seeing it clear in san francisco. here's a look at the trend for today. we may see the fog roll in for a little bit, and then clear back out fairly quickly as our temperatures today head for the upper 50s. we are going to see some mid 60s for parts of the south bay. mike, that may slow some people down for the commute. yeah, so that word of warning you talked about the patchy fog like yesterday look extremely to the north of this map and to the south which covers our bay. the south bay freeways will see that a note. as i was driving down 101, it really tough to see the roadway was okay. but around the
5:13 am
roadway those exit signs and the reference buildings were kind of off. so i had to slow it down just to remember where i was and get my bearings once in a while. that will be the factor for much of the south bay. again, lower those speeds. but even where it's not highlighted yellow, that's the road weather index showing you those conditions. again, as kari showed you, just to the north of this map, where everything looks clear on the map, it's not from our rooftop camera. we're having trouble, but you can see the glow of those headlights heading south. keep that in mind in many patches. we're still watching some road work going on for 680 through fremont and in toward pleasanton. but over here, vasco road still at the minimum. yesterday we had a lot of slowing, and i think that was because of visibility. so far. we're okay this morning. we'll keep tracking things as they impact your morning commute, which should be lighter as we year. stick withrest of the

happy wednesday to you. big story. today, of course, is going to be the interest rate decision from the fed. more on that in a second. dow fell agai, its longest losing streak in nearly 50 years since 1978, pulled down by unitedhealth and santa clara's. nvidia, which is now a dow component. walmart says it's going to try putting body worn cameras on some of its employees in certain locations, both because of thefts and also not very nice customers. okay, as far as those interest rates, we expect the fed will cut rates
5:17 am
by a quarter point at the conclusion of its meeting today, around 11 a.m, our time, the third such cut in a row. cutting interest rates, increases the amount of money in the economy by making money easier to borrow. that increases economic activity, and that's all good news. but it can cause prices to rise as well. the cuts today, if they come, are a sign the fed thinks inflation is largely beaten. we'll talk more about what these cuts mean for your family at the bottom of the hour. you may have one of these in your house a tp-link wi-fi router. the company has around 60% market share. wall street journal says federal regulators might ban the sale of these routers because they're worried the company ships those routers with too many security flaws and doesn't pay enough attention to security. so, white hat, the security researchers like white hats, try to warn them of these flaws. they say tp-link doesn't listen. based in california. chinese owned says it looks

forward to working with regulators. matsui san marino cabrillo street. that's the ceo of honda, talking to a news crew in japan, catching his breath after a jog, confirming that honda and nissan are considering a merger. nissan also owns infiniti and mitsubishi. they're still in early talks, and the fbi is warning the biggest threat to o this whole drone sighting thing may be that the people on the ground that are causing the threat, you know, people are posting all kinds of things on social media. much of it can be explained away as beacons on the top of radio towers, hobby, drones, stars. but some are airplanes and helicopters. that's got a lot of people worried about panicked people on the ground taking matters into their own hands. we are seeing an increase in pilots of manned aircraft being hit in the eyes with lasers, because people on the ground think they see a drone. we are also concerned people will take matters into their own hands and fire a weapon at an aircraft. not only is this act against the law, but it poses an incredible
5:19 am
danger to the pilots and passengers on those aircraft. now, i think this whole drone thing is largely silly, but if somebody wants to do something nefarious to you with a drone, they're not going to run the anti-collision beacon lights on it. so if you're seeing something flashing in the sky, probably not. you know a bad thing. all right. thanks, scott. you bet. well, unionized starbucks workers across the country are now vowing to strike if they cannot reach a deal on a new contract. workers voted to authorize a strike as negotiations continue. both sides are trying to reach a framework for future contracts. and the union says the company has not delivered a plan to address barista pay and other benefits. starbucks says it is disappointed by the decision. according to the union's web page, there are now more than 500 unionized starbucks locations, with half a dozen right here in the bay area. well, the mega millions jackpot is now up to $825 million. this is after no one matched all six
5:20 am
numbers in last night's drawing. and you know what? it makes the top prize for friday's drawing, the seventh largest in mega millions history. we know that someone in morgan hill purchased a ticket from the safeway and matched five of the five numbers, winning $1 million. here are the winning numbers for you right here. it's 55, 66, 67, 68, 69, and 18. well, look. so what are the odds, though? circle the roll. that never happens. well, i appreciate you. just 18. yeah. next drawing is next friday. but i appreciate you know what. give me the numbers on thursday. then instead of the day after the drawing. marcus. that's news i could use. i'll work on that. all right. let's take a look at some numbers of a different sort. our visibility this morning, as we've seen the fog develop in areas that are usually not seeing this kind of fog. it's been moving into the south bay and really causing some problems for the morning
5:21 am
commute. but we've seen it quite a bit in concord, and we are now down to a quarter of a mile, as well as a quarter of a mile in oakland and in santa rosa. so watch out for that dense fog this morning. it tends to move and drift around, and the visibility can change within the next few minutes. so looking at how this all forms, we have a clear sky and high pressure aloft, as well as a calm wind here at the surface. and once all of the moisture condenses, it creates these suspended water droplets. that basically is like a cloud on the ground is what we like to refer to it as, because it is very tough to see in some spots, but also isn't very widespread and tends to move down into the valley. so we are going to see that the case until about 9:00, and then once it clears out, it's going to be a nice day. a bit on the cool side for the east bay, while in the north bay it's going to be anywhere from upper 50s to mid
5:22 am
60s, even upper 60s, and tomorrow it's going to be a touch warmer, mainly in the south county as well as along the peninsula. the next few days we're dry, but then on saturday into sunday the next storm system comes in and it's going to be busy next week, with waves of rain coming in pretty much every other day and a lot of sierra snow. and right now the snowpack is at normal, but we could see another 14 to possibly 26in of snow between the first part of next week into christmas. and that's when we are going to be closely watching that forecast for santos arrival, as we could see some rain in the bay area. looking at the next few days, though, we've got quite a while to enjoy the mild temperatures and sunshine this weekend. that rain will be back. and mike, you're saying despite the fog, it's been a pretty smooth commute. yeah, but let's not minimize the impact of the fog right here at the bay bridge. it's a slower build, but it is building up. and you
5:23 am
notice those references that we often see along the side of the road, signposts in this particular case, not visible because of some of the low clouds and fog in the area. that will be the case for a lot of folks driving. watch highway for highway 24 coming out of concord, where there's a little build right now. we just saw those speed sensors change for highway four. we've seen this for highway 37 as well. now we know that the commute is going to be lighter for the rest of the year, but there will still be those typical patterns. right now, vasco road is moving smoothly out of the contra costa county down toward 580. fog not so much a factor in the altamont pass, but it will be in the south bay, so do use caution. here's our view from san jose, where it's just above 101, though not

today in the bay. and good wednesday morning to you all. i'm ginger conejero saab in for laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. well another foggy start to our morning there for a lot of commuters out there. i want you to check out the conditions we saw just a short time ago. this is in sunnyvale now. a photographer shot this about an hour ago. this is near lawrence expressway and east wayne avenue. meteorologist kari hall is here, of course, this morning. and, kari, you've been monitoring all this. and we talked about this yesterday. just how long are we expecting all of this to last? is going to be drifting around. and so it may hang out with us until about 9:00 this morning. in some spots, it's been the south bay that's really had the worst of that fog down to a quarter mile or less. and all of these areas highlighted in that light blue color are in the dense fog advisory. and many of our valleys and visibility in oakland now down to less than a quarter of a mile, a 10th of a mile there, and in santa rosa, a
5:32 am
quarter of a mile, as well as low visibility in concord. but here's a look at walnut creek, where it's clear. and much of the east bay into the tri-valley is starting out clear. it's in the low 40s. a cold start, and as it clears up throughout t day, we're going to see those temperatures heading up into the upper 50s and low 60s. we'll talk more about this coming up. mike, right now we have a clear view of the golden gate bridge, which is weird. yesterday it was completely socked in. we couldn't see this from the rooftop camera in san francisco. beautiful view it looks folks are arriving for. welcome to san francisco cruise line there. we're looking across the bay, though, and that's where the fog is kicking in for a lot of east bay commuters around the bay bridge. kari, as you're talking about this, will drift around, of course, and that will impact folks. so keep in mind that your reference is alongside the roadway. may be unfamiliar as far as your view goes. let's get a look at the yellow that's highlighting where you're likely to find low clouds and fog. and that is through many parts of the east bay. though chp has reported no problems, the arrows show you typical slowing for
5:33 am
highway four, highway 37 and now slowing on the incline at the bay bridge, but no backup. we saw that. meanwhile, the tri-valley moves well. the south bay does have pockets of fog, so watch for that through san jose. that is a factor. vasco road now starting to see the brake taps. so a little bit longer now out of contra costa county. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. well, mike was just mentioning looking at the bay bridge toll plaza. something else other than fog is happening there. some tolls are a scheduled meeting to increase next year. the drivers may just want to get used to that idea. that vote later this morning will greenlight a series of yearly hikes. today in the bay's bob is live for us over the dumbarton bridge. okay, so bob, how much more money are we talking about here? well, good morning to you marcus. and ginger right now cost $7 a car across the dumbarton and the six other state owned bridges here in the bay area that is already set to jump a dollar to $8 january 1st. and later this morning it could go up. we could
5:34 am
find out. it could go up another $0.50 the following year, depending on a vote that's set to take place later this morning in san francisco. so later this morning, the bay area toll authority will meet in s.f. to consider a series of 50 cent toll hikes that would start january 1st of 2026 for five years for all seven state owned bridges. we're talking about antioch bay, benicia, martinez, carquinas, dumbarton, richmond, san rafael and the san mateo-hayward bridges. this does not include the golden gate, which is under its own authority, so if approved, tolls would go from the 850 and 2026 to eventually $10.50 in 2030. this is for people using fastrack license plate or invoice. tolling would be slightly more. this is for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the bridges. and what this will do is allow us to meet our statutory obligations to keep the bridges in a state of good repair without having to borrow
5:35 am
money to do so. that was john goodwin with the bay area toll authority and the metropolitan points out that the west span of the bay bridge is 88 years old, and newer east span is just over ten years old, and all the other state owned bridges are somewhere in between. so in other words, they are getting older and they need more maintenance, he says. toll hikes are cheaper than the interest that they be paying to borrow money to pay for those repairs and upkeep. the toll authority is also considering a proposal this morning to allow three person hov discounts at all bridges. it's already in effect at the bay bridge and right now at the dumbartrton behin me in the san mateo, there's a two person discount, so they're calling for 3% person discount at all bridges. the proposal also calls for allowing two person carpool vehicles to use the carpool lanes on the approaches to the antioch benicia-martinez carquinas, dumbarton, richmond, san rafael and san mateo-hayward bridge. so a reminder voters approved regional measure three. this is
5:36 am
back in 2018, which calls for that dollar toll hike that's already set and it's going to be taking place january 1st at the bridge behind me and the six other state owned bridges. reporting live here in newark at the dumbarton bridge. bob redell today in the bay. big change. thanks a lot, bob. well, developing this morning, sources telling nbc news that the suspect in the ambush killing of unitedhealthcare ceo may waive extradition when it comes to when he returns to the court later today. manhattan district attorney alvin bragg yesterday announcing 11 criminal counts against luigi mangione in the shooting death of brian thompson on december 4th. the most serious charge first-degree murder with a terror enhancement. new york city's police commissioner, meanwhile, appalled by some of the response on social mia. we have seen a shocking and appalling celebration of cold blooded murder. let me say this plainly there is no heroism in what mangione did. this was a
5:37 am
frightening, well-planned, targeted murder that was intended to cause shock and attention and intimidation. mangione is still facing gun and forgery charges in pennsylvania. if he's convicted on the charges in new york city, he would face a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. the federal reserve begins its final policy meeting of the year, with interest rate decision due later this morning. and despite high inflation, the federal reserve is expected to cut interest rates this week for the third straight meeting. joining us to talk more about this, of course, is our scott mcgrew. but scott, you know, we hear about this news trying to follow it. people have a big question. they just want to know how is this going to impact me. oh that's a very natural question. what does it mean for the family and the budgets and how much money we're going to have? christmas shopping? christmas shopping. the simple answer is a lot less than you would actually think. i mean, we can talk about credit cards and mortgage rates and we'll do
5:38 am
that. but the fed doesn't set either one. they're related. i'd rather you pivot your understanding of all this to a broader picture. the fed cuts rates when it thinks inflation is under control or close to under control, a little hotter than we would like in the last reading. but the rate cuts are a sign. ginger, some of the smartest economists in the world are happy with the economy. and as far as your question, the personal pocketbook things do get easier on you. even though the fed doesn't set credit card rates or loan rates. but by lowering interest rates for banks, it banks cut their expenses. and theoretically, anyway, they're going to pass those expense cuts, those savings on to you. the fed doesn't set mortgage rates. that's more closely related to government bonds. but sometimes that leads to lower mortgage rates as well. interesting. all right. well what about credit card rates? credit card rates are an interesting one. they're so high as you know, 17%, 20%, 22%, a quarter point rate cut is not going to solve any of your problems. your credit rating, way more important to how much
5:39 am
you pay as far as interest rate, if your credit rating is 100 points higher than mine, i'm probably going to pay 510% more in credit card debt. you know the interest rate than you do. so that's significant. yeah. if you're carrying a big credit card balance, i like to say your credit rating is the double big mac with cheese and extra bacon and large fries. and this interest rate cut is the diet coke. yeah, right. it's really not your decision about diet coke or not diet coke. that is you know, the problem here. zero calories with that, zero calories, 1 million. so worry about your credit rating. don't worry about the interest rate cut and go get a cup of water instead. all right. thanks a lot, scott. thanks, scott. ginger, it's 539 for you this morning. we do have some new developments for you in oakland, where leaders are taking a drastic step and committing to painful cuts. this is to help offset that massive budget deficit. motion passes with a vote of five ayes. late last
5:40 am
night, council members approved that plan. it includes major cuts to the police and fire departments. the city is now facing a $129 million shortfall. firefighter union leaders say that some of the planned cuts were never laid out ahead of time. i'm gutted. honestly. there were some things that were revealed today that i wasn't aware of, and i feel like they kind of the timing of the second round of closures was not discussed with definitely not with us. we feel like closures or layoffs or cuts should have been the last option, and we feel like they're amongst the first options. the cuts are necessary so that we can remain fiscally solvlnt. right now we have more overhead than we do revenue coming in now. the cuts will roll out in two phases. phase one takes effect in a matter of days and will impact city staff and police overtime spending, along with postponing police academies and browning. browning out two fire stations. now, the second phase includes
5:41 am
rounding out additional fire engines and starts at the end of january. we are moving the bay area forward this wednesday morning on a san jose improvement plan. new grants are being offered to help businesses in alum rock, ranging between 25 and $50,000. the alum rock santa clara street business association is leading a beautification effort. later this morning, san jose councilman peter ortiz will outline the program. let's take a live look outside for you this morning. don't see much out there because that fog is thick. now, this is san jose. take our word for it. meteorologist kari hall, of course, been monitoring that. and we're seeing shots like this across the bay area this morning. yeah, and it's the south bay where the fog is the worst and the visibility is very low and our temperatures starting out chilly. we're at 41 now in morgan hill, and it is 37 in danville where we don't have that blanket of fog. the temperatures have dipped into the 30s. so you can tell just by
5:42 am
the temperatures where it's clear in fremont. it is foggy and it is in the mid 40s. it's going to be foggy through 7:00, clearing out quickly throughout the rest of today and heading for the low 60s. but we could see some spots closer to the upper 60s for later today. we'll see that in the south county, while san francisco will hit a high of 60 today and napa up to 60 degrees, it will be a sunny afternoon and a nice one at that. we'll talk about what's ahead coming up. but mike, you're seeing two factors affecting the bay bridge commute. both are predictable. if you've just joined our show you might not know how much fog is around, but it is around as kari is talking about south bay and also portions of the east bay. the backup forming right on schedule, but lighter volume overall still highway 37 highway four. seeing that slowdown and the fog along the delta like yesterday, no specific problems outlined by chp, but there may be unfamiliar surroundings to lower those speeds as you come through some lower clouds. looking ahead toward thursday, that's tomorrow. the t third

line will be replaced by busses, so that will mean delays along this stretch between sunnydale and third marine station. so that will be a factor if you take the muni t-third line again. bus replacements may add some time for your crosstown commute. meanwhile, the rest of the bay is showing a smooth drive, just that slowing out of the altamont and in the south bay north 101. again, there may be some low clouds in the area, 101 through palo alto. i want to point this out for the weekend. give you the notice northbound side. that's what the tail lights right at university. that exit will be blocked starting friday night. all weekend. they have to finish off that peninsula project over in the area. so you'll use the embarcadero exit, or maybe this one up here at marsh. again, that starting friday night, the university exit will be blocked from north 101. back to you. thanks a lot, mike. 543. this morning. still ahead. another setback for two nasa astronauts stuck on the iss. ahead. this morning we have the latest delay on their trip back to earth. as the space odyssey stretches on. plus, avoiding a holiday

to avoid a government shutdown this weekend. scott mcgrew joining us now is scott. it's a bill stuffed full of ideas. stuffed full. absolutely. good morning. theoretically, the bill to keep the government open could have been written on a cocktail napkin. you know, keep funding the government agencies where they're at and done. that the continuing resolution, more or less, that's been keeping washington running for quite some time now. but the bill that's being passed around the house right now, much bigger. not only did they add badly needed storm aid to the bill and relief for farmers to the bill, but dozens of other ideas and projects and spending. and it's got a lot of members of congress, particularly republicans, upset they're due to go home for the holidays and their speaker is handing them a phone book size continuing resolution they have to read through. and these are some of

the very same lawmakers who say we should be spending less and now dealing with a cr that says we should spend more. sign it. spend more, or the government shuts down on saturday. that's the pickle that they are in. this morning, president elect donald trump suing the des moines register newspaper for a poll it conducted right before the election, showing kamala harris ahead in iowa. trump ultimately won iowa. the poll was wrong, but many polls are wrong. trump has attacked the newspaper for what he says is election interference. now, trump often sues or threatened to sue news agencies. and there is a word for this it's slap with 2p2 p's strategic lawsuit against public participation. a newspaper or other media outlet might think twice before deciding to run a negative story about you. a lot of states, including california, have anti-slapp laws. you can't do that in california. iowa does

and stay with it. and don't be guessing. at the end of the day, he doesn't believe that we all need to be guinea pigs, that we need to. we need to find out that actually work first. now, of course, federal regulators don't make americans guinea pigs. they require testing of vaccines and medicines. some conservatives say too much testing takes too much time, too many regulations. 33 days left in the biden administration. mr. biden says he'll attend president elect trump's inauguration. trump did not attend. biden's doctor, jill biden, meantime, told fellow teachers and administrators at northern virginia community college she has taught her last class doctor biden is, we believe, the only first lady who had a job outside of the white house. we presume the bidens will relocate to their home in delaware. and ginger, that's about two hours away. all right. thanks a lot, scott. well, nasa is pushing back the return date for a pair of astronauts stuck on the international space station yet again. nasa astronaut suni williams and

right, or it may be making sounds or even smoking in some cases, do not use that battery. another tip for you make sure you check your outdoor christmas decorations to make sure that they are rated for outdoor use. also, make sure connections used for those displays are protected from the elements so that moisture and electricity don't connect because they don't mix. no, no no good tips there. well, trending this morning beyonce now has more. recording industry association of america certified titles than any other female artist. wow. so the superstar is earning dozens of new badges due to her cowboy carter album, but there are only two songs that have gone platinum 11 times. you shoulda put a ring on it. ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow. ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow. ow ow ow

supporters last week drive bar actually this week offered a limited supply for $50 per jar. yes, $50 per jar of dirt. and that's not exactly dirt cheap either, right? and according to their social media account, the jar sold out in one hour. talk about hitting a home run there. who knew dirt would cost so much? especially when you put it in a fancy jar with the date and you know where it came from. hey, people will buy it. it's a souvenir. i was just going to say, you just want to make sure that dirt really came from there, right? a lot of dirt. kind of moist this morning. it's mud. i wonder how much that would cost. some mud out there today. a mud mask. it's going to be foggy in parts of the bay area, in spots where we don't always see it. so it's livermore, it's san jose, it's the south bay where we've seen it the worst. here's a look at san rafael, where we usually see some fog here. it is in the distance as you're driving, so you may be in and out of the fog this morning. and it's in the low 40s. and it's going to be a cold start in some areas. 46 at 9:00 here and then mid 50s at noon. it's going to take a while before it warms up and make it

tuesday. we're going to have some wet weather coming in and we'll be tracking all of that. now it's the visibility, mike. that's the issue for the south bay. yeah, because fog does hit a lot of parts of our bay on a regular basis. but the south bay is unfamiliar sometimes to drivers here. we're looking at the visibility of the roadway. it's fine. you can see the lines on the road. but look, your surroundings may be unfamiliar as you drive in. that low cloud cover may impede your view of some of those exit signs, so be extra cautious. we've seen the road weather index kind of ease up. it was extending down from mountain view into saratoga and from sunnyvale in towards santa clara and san jose. again, watch for those patches throughout the morning as things are still a little bit foggy in some places with low clouds. tri-valley has maintained an easy drive right now and visibility is great there. but again, contra costa county really seeing more fog, but not as much traffic as it eases up a bit. starting this week, back to you. all right. thanks, mike. well happening now. applications open today for a new program which aims to get more people on e-bikes. the california e-bike incentive project's goal is to make green
