right. i want to turn your attention now to the latest from the e fire zone in southern california, where a red flag warning remains in effect. the wind is continuing to blow. nearly 90,000 people remain under evacuation orders. some 85,000 others are under evacuation warnings. the palisades fire has burned more than 23,000 acres, 18% contained. right now, the eaton fire in altadena has burned 14,000 acres and is 35% contained. the death toll from both fires stands at 25. tonight, more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed. these next 12 hours are critical. those high winds could be problematic yet again. jeff is here. what are you seeing right now, jeff? well, right now, winds are on and off 20 to 50mph. it's not the extreme extreme wind we had last week when it was up to that 7500 mile per hour range. we don't expect it to get that high. but anything, any kind of wind in these hot zones still could produce some embers that blow

around. so that's why, of course, it's just under such high alert down here. so the palisades fire right now, gusts 15 to 35 in that fire zone. i can tell you today there was not a lot of hotspot activity from satellite data that we could find on that fire. so some good news there. eaton fire right now. wind gusts 15 to 25. so wind overnight and into tomorrow morning. still could get 20 to about 50 and some of the lower elevations, but i really think those 50 plus mile per hour gusts would be saved. unfortunately for the mountains, that's tomorrow morning through the early evening. red flag fire warning expires at 6 p.m. tomorrow, and then watch the wind as we head through thursday. you can see how all of that wind starts to exit, so looks pretty good on that wind front here. not only thursday, but friday, saturday and sunday. we'll talk about more wind for california. yes, the chance of maybe some more wind. i have that for you in about 15 minutes. okay, we'll see you then. thank you. jeff. the

investigations continue into what sparked these deadly wildfires. at least two new lawsuits have been filed against power company socal edison. the suits allege negligence in the eaton fire in altadena. they claim that a transmission line sparked the fire because socal edison failed to de-energize the line. in a statement, the utility says it will review the lawsuits when it receives them. now, as far as the palisades fire goes, officials say they're not ruling out arson as a cause. the atf is now leading that investigation. so many families are trying to find some peace and stability after their lives were simply turned upside down. tonight, one family is finding normalcy here in the bay area. their daughter is now going to school in san francisco. nbc's audrey asistio has that story. tomorrow, we'll pick up zenni from fire evacuees in altadena to new beginnings in the bay area. dad's going to get here. tanya paz and her daughter clementine had no idea. early dismissal. last tuesday, her school closed early. we had

certain streets, informing owners they have two weeks to move or be towed. the city is cracking down on 30 sites near schools, parks and neighborhoods. and the number one question where am i going? i don't know. there's no place for them to go. homeless advocates are happy this new safe parking site is opening up, but say it's not nearly enough. the city estimates there are nearly 2000 oversize vehicles on the streets. we need safe rv parking tomorrow. on the phone, we talked with teresa, who lives in an rv and is hoping she can move into the site since this is something that you're really looking forward to. i am very much looking forward to it because the streets are not safe anymore. it's terrible out here. it's very scary. councilman cohen says the new space also addresses concerns from neighbors who don't want rvs near places likearks. but there are going to be still a number of rvs out on the streets, because we don't have space for everybody, and we're
