had the last week, but we are in the upper 50s and that's a little bit closer to our normal high temperature for the afternoon. and since friday, we've had a lot of rainfall in the north bay over four inches in calistoga, five inches in kentfield, while mount tam had over 11.5in of rainfall. so that is exactly what was expected, with the highest rainfall farther to the north. in san francisco, it's about an inch of rainfall, about the same in oakland and in san jose. not much at all, just a few sprinkles. but it was pouring on the santa cruz mountains and some of the coastal areas that took the brunt of this atmospheric river. and we're seeing it waving now to the north. it's going to start to kick back farther to the south later on this evening and bring in another round of heavy rain. what we're seeing this morning as you're heading out, for the most part, is some light and spotty showers. a look at storm ranger. that's our mobile doppler radar showing some splotches of green here and there with some sprinkles as

we're heading out. maybe just that reminder to grab the umbrella, but for the most of the day, it's going to be dry until this evening. we start to see the rain showers filling back in on the radar and the north bay, seeing much of that activity first. and then later on tonight it picks up across the rest of the bay area with some pockets of heavy rain. that's also when a flood watch will be in effect throughout most of the day. tomorrow it's raining early and then taking a break on wednesday, with more rain expected on thursday. so it's going to be kind of unsettled throughout the week with our first wave of rain for today bringing about an inch and a half farther north, but much less about a quarter of an inch of rain for most of us. but look at how much rain we get tomorrow. in total, we could see about two inches for san jose and about the same for the north bay as well. looking ahead to the rest of the week, once this system moves out, a colder storm system moves in thursday and then the weekend is dry and the sierra is going to rack up a lot

we're starting out this morning. it is a little drier than we saw over the weekend, mainly in the north bay. but notice as we take aa look le in san jose, the streets are still a little damp here and you may need the windshield wipers with some light rain coming down, but our rain chances increase as we go throughout the day and it gets heavier later on tonight into early tomorrow. and the wind will be breezy tonight, picking up betwe 15 and 30mph. and some of the gusts, especially in the hills, will be higher up to 45mph, and there will be colder temperatures ahead, a colder storm coming in with snow levels dropping to near 4000ft. but looking at our high temperature for today, upper 50s and low 60s reaching 62 in oakland, 64 in hayward and in the north bay. it will be in the upper 50s as well. and then looking at tomorrow, it is a little bit cooler after this cold front comes through and will feel it during the overnight hours with a colder morning ahead as we go toward the middle of the week.
5:54 am
so we are going to see cooler air dropping in, but look at how much rain we've already had fall in the north bay. it was pouring with about one to possibly five inches of rainfall. well, that's what we measured. mount tam had over 11.5in of rainfall, which is very typical in an atmospheric river where we see the coastal areas, the hills and the mountains getting a lot of rainfall. but then for san jose in the valley, we were in that protection area where the santa cruz mountains had a lot of heavy rainfall, but we only got a few sprinkles in santa clara valley. things will change tonight as this system has now waved to the north, and then we'll begin to push back to the south. and so all of the bay area will eventually get some heavier rainfall. but now we're just seeing the light rain that's moving through for the start of this monday morning. our hour by hour forecast shows that rain will start to spread across our area for this evening into early tomorrow morning will start out much more of an active weather pattern than we've seen recently, and then it just
5:55 am
continues off and on until early wednesday. and that's the day that we do get a break. we're going to see for today about another half to possibly over an inch and a half for the north bay. but then all of us getting much more rain tomorrow. toward the end of the week, there will be another system coming in on wednesday into thursday, and then the weekend, for the most part, is looking drier. there may be some lingering showers on saturday, but it will be a nice weekend to make some plans to get outside. looking better definitely than the past weekend, and san francisco will see some clearing there after a couple of more days of some wet weather. mike, you're seeing some delays in oakland and san jose. yeah, the delay in oakland because the metering lights were activated. but look, we have actually lighter traffic flow approaching. there may have been something going on on the approach. we'll check that. but nothing major right now reported for the maze. the speed sensors also don't show any issues. so again we'll check to see why things actually got lighter at the bay bridge. i'll let you

know if we have a source there. we still have highway 37 with the build. there was a crash south 242 you see a little bit just off of the split with 680. it's on the shoulder a distraction. no problem for the carquinez bridge, but we'll still watch as folks come across the benicia bridge. there may be a crash in the commute direction. we know this. the delay in san jose we talk about is continuing to build because of a crash in north 101 just north of the toll on ramp. and so that is affecting three lanes right now. good word. the injuries are minor at most. and so they should be able to clear two vehicles. they have two tow trucks heading over. back to you. all right. thanks so much, mike. well, happening now, bart's plan to stop fare evaders is coming to berkeley. in late 2023, bart began rolling out a new fare gate. this was a part of their systemwide upgrade. well, starting today, work begins to install them in downtown berkeley. at that station, bart hopes to have those gates installed at all of its stations by the end of this year. much more ahead this morning, including a day without immigrants, the day of action
