up and out. and it is a cold start. let's get a look at what to expect with this live view in san francisco. as we take a look at what to what we have coming this week. so we have a freeze warning in effect for some of the inland valleys until 9:00, and then it turns cloudy tomorrow with rain chances developing late. that will mainly be near the coastline and parts of the north bay, with heavy rain expected really picking up wednesday night into thursday as an atmospheric river moves in. we are going to start out this morning with the morning temperatures in the 30s, even down close to or below freezing. look at napa and sonoma. we're down to 28 degrees. so yes, a very cold start. and then this is a look at what we can expect going into the afternoon. highs in the mid to upper 50s and as warm as 59 degrees for san jose down to gilroy. we'll talk about all of the other things coming our way in just a few minutes. mike, how's it looking in san rafael? you know, it's looking clear

marcus. and as you noted, he's pushing back against the courts because there have been lawsuits filed. the courts have been intervening. one example of that, there's a federal hearing today about the paused mass buyouts offered to federal workers. labor unions are requesting to fully block that program. president trump returning to washington overnight after becoming the first sitting president to attend a super bowl, making news before he stepped in the stadium with a new tariff announcement on imported steel and aluminum. any steel coming into the united states is going to have a 25% tariff, and promising more tariffs are coming on countries that tax american exports, the growing list poised to potentially drive up costs for american consumers. while in a taped super bowl pre-show interview, the president defended elon musk's cost cutting moves to slash federal agencies. bottom line you say you trust him. trust elon. oh,

he's not gaining anything. in fact, i wonder how he can devote the time to it. he's so into it. indicating the departments of education and defense are next in the crosshairs and pushing back against judges who have temporarily blocked some of musk's department of government efficiency actions and access. i disagree with it 100%. i think it's crazy. and we have to solve the efficiency problem. as vice president j.d. vance wrote, judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power, all adding to democrats alarm about the separation of powers. we are at a point where we are basically on the cusp of a constitutional crisis, seeing this administration taking steps that are so clearly illegal, with democrats unwilling to cosign the trump administration's moves, a bipartisan government funding bill is in peril. building toward a potential government shutdown next month. and in another announcement, president trump said he's instructed the

treasury secretary to stop producing pennies because they cost more to mint than they're worth, saying he'll rip waste out of the federal budget a penny at a time. marcus. interesting to see there. but, alex, before you go, i know the president talked about several pieces of his foreign policy over the weekend, from gaza to ukraine. can you talk more about that? yes. on gaza, he doubled down on this controversial vision, saying he's committed to having the u.s. buy and own gaza and that perhaps other middle eastern countries would be involved in the rebuilding of it. on ukraine, he confirmed that he's spoken by phone with russian president vladimir putin at least once, said he wants to continue those conversations and will likely meet in person with him at the right time, as he put it. and finally, he did speak again about cada. he's made comments in the past that it should become a 51st state. he was asked about that in that fox news interview and said he does mean it, that he thinks canada would be better off as part of

we find a little bit of a savings at the gas pump? well, contra costa county. let's look at their low, their lows in san ramon now, the low for the bay, in fact, 3.85 at freedom gas on acosta boulevard. and quite the jump from san jose. last week's low was $0.20 lower than today. the best we have in the south bay is 3.88 at most stop on mckee road. that's in the middle here and nothing under four bucks in marin county. the best on the list is 409, in larkspur at marin gas on magnolia ave. check to see if prices have risen in your area. they did not near my house, but clearly they have another spot. so go to gasbuddy.com on the roadways looking at a pretty calm drive. green sensors dominate over on the on the san rafael side that crashes over on the shoulder of the disabled vehicle. i'm sorry, just off the richmond bridge. so no problems for the speed. and on the richmond side you see how light the traffic flow is. we'll watch as it builds. back to you. you can literally count the cars there, halting production just ahead on today in the bay. another move to cut costs.

penny than it's worth. no one seems to use them. very few people use cash these days. the president doesn't actually have the power to decide what kind of money gets printed, at least not according to the constitution. the other problem if you got fewer pennies, you'll probably need more nickels, which cost even more to mint far more than $0.05. also debatable whether the administration has the power to close the consumer financial protection bureau, but that seems to be what happened, at least temporarily. elon musk tweeting cfpb rest in peace. a key thing to watch today and this week is there were a number of court rulings against musk and trump. do they ignore them? it's a possibility. that's something to watch. we will. all right. thanks, scott. now to a live look at the new orleans superdome where later today, new orleans superdome, super bowl organizers will hand things off to bay area organizers. right now in new orleans, there's still some cleanup. probably to do. no doubt. definitely. this

out at 41 degrees. take a look at the highs that we're expecting. this is a little bit cooler than what's normal for early to mid february, as we're going to see the temperatures in the upper 50s 57 for napa, as well as martinez and livermore 57 degrees tomorrow, abo the same and even cooler in some of the inland valleys. and then on wednesday, it continues to get even colder. so we do have some cold weather and some rain that will start to come in with an atmospheric river starting late on wednesday, with moderate to heavy rain moving in on thursday. so we are watching out for the possibility of flooding the elevated landslide threat once again, mainly in the north bay and then the coastal mountains, and the sierra is going to get about 2 to 3ft of snow this week. let's take a look at this storm system as it drops in. once again, expecting a quick shot of rain on wednesday with more widespread rain and that atmospheric river for the end of the week. we take

good monday morning right now at 545. let's take a look at what to expect in gilroy today. it is a very cold start, maybe even frosty. and we'll see temperatures in the mid 30s through 8:00 at noon. we're in the low 50s and headed for the mid 50s today. with it being a fairly nice day, we will see some rain coming in midweek. we'll talk about that timeline coming up. and we're looking at this time here being a little more time spent off the 880 overcrossing right there at top of the screen. no incidents reported on that portion of t bay bridge toll plaza. but clearly the backups starting to form here. i think there may be one lane that might be closed for a second here. we'll double check. i'll bring you the updates on the build coming up. sounds good. we'll check back with you, kerry and mike. it's 546 right now. more trump tariffs this morning and more news about elon musk. okay scott every morning we talk about this checks and balances. here. we see the picture there of president trump. but lately we've been talking about elon musk a lot. we've been talking
