are along willow pass road here in concord. you are looking down otomo drive. this is a residential neighborhood with small single story homes. it's on the edge of open space that separates this area from highway four. if you're familiar with this part of concord. as you can see, several police officers are outere. they're not letting anyone near the scene. when a stringer photographer responded after around 130 this morning, police actually put up more yellow crime scene tape to push that photographer away from the scene. that photographer responded to the scene because he heard an officer on a police scanner say, shots fired, but we haven't confirmed yet whether or not someone fired a gun out here or if anyone was hurt or killed. now, earlier, i spoke with a man whose sister lives next door to the scene of the crime. she is comforting the woman whose husband and son got into some sort of fight or dispute. we are trying to confirm with police whether or not the husband was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. also trying to confirm whether or not police had a confrontation with the sun when they arrived. i did ask an officer on the scene. the following was an ambulance called out. was the coroner
6:04 am
called out? was the district attorney called out? his response was he couldn't say. he referred us to police headquarters. concord police just posted on facebook that they are conducting an investigation out here. they did refer us to a lieutenant. we reached out to that lieutenant. still waiting to hear back, but on that facebook post, they provided no other details. reporting live here in concord. bob redell today in the bay. hopefully everyone is okay. we can. that's what we can hope for. thank you very much, bob. at 603 this morning, a delegati led by u.s. secretary of state marco rubio met with russian officials overnight. this surrounds talks on ending the war in ukraine. ukrainian officials, though they are not there at that meeting. president volodymyr zelenskyy says his country will not accept a deal that it is not involved in crafting. our scott mcgrew will have more on the talks during his checks and balances segment, which is coming up in the next half hour. well, we are following the latest out of toronto. this is where authorities say three passengers critically injured. several more

are now released from the hospital. this is after that terrifying plane crash where that jet turned upside down. now, here are some of the dramatic new video from another plane on that runway. it shows that jet making that very hard landing yesterday afternoon. seconds later you saw there the touchdown, the plane flipping over and then the flames. everything. drop it. come on baby. now. video from a passenger exiting the plane shows the chaos there on the ground. amazingly, all 76 passengers and four crew members on board survived. the delta regional flight took off from minneapolis, and one expert tells nbc winter weather may have easily played a role. i think it's possible the wing may have touched the runway due to a gust, and if that's the case, then the rest of this makes sense. but the recorders are going to show that. investigators say it is still too early to know the cause. the plane is a bombardier regional jet, a popular plane used for short haul regional flilights.

canadian transportation investigators are now assisting the faa and the ntsb. well, tonight you have a chance to meet the candidates who want to be oakland's next mayor. a candidate forum for next month's special election is happening later today. former east bay congresswoman barbara lee will be there, as will lauren taylor, who was the runner up in the 2022 race. reina webb will also be there. she is the former chief of staff turned critic of ousted mayor sheng thao. three other candidates running for the district two seat will also attend the forum. that forum is set for uptown station on broadway at six tonight. this comes as oakland council members sort through a new round of painful budget cuts. one member says they were blindsided by this decision and on social media last week, finance committee member jenny ramachandran indicated 13 nonprofits are losing funding midyear. she called it a unilateral move by the city administrator to save about $2.5

million. opponents say the groups all provide critical services, including housing and health, to a wide range of people in need. they are holding a news conference later today. also today, alameda county leaders will swear in their new district attorney following a two week delay. supervisors last week chose ursula jones dixon to fill the term of recalled district attorney pamela price. dixon worked in the da's office for 14 years before she became a county judge in 2013. her prior commitments on the bench are believed to be what led to that swearing in delay. voters are still expected to elect a new district attorney next year. construction is set to begin today along valencia street in san francisco's mission district. the sfmta is installing a new side running bike lane. now construction was delayed a week due to weatr. that project was approved back in november after the transit agency voted to scrap a center bike lane running down valencia. it comes after businesses

protested the pilot project, saying that it was bad for business. according to the chronicle, the new project will cut street parking along valencia by one third. and now taking a live look out in san jose. getting started with this tuesday morning meteorologist kari hall tracking those very nice numbers for this winter day. it starts out cool. we are going to have a really pleasant afternoon, and some of us are seeing those temperatures dropping a lot more quickly than others in danville. we are down to 36 degrees, so definitely a cold start there. while it's 47, in san mateo and san francisco and 39 in sonoma, while napa is at 41 in san jose. as the sun comes up, we will see some clouds. early temperatures in the mid 40s. at 11:00 it's 55 degrees and definitely a lot more sunshine with high temperatures coming up a few more degrees, making it into the mid 60s. and we'll see those mid 60s tomorrow as well. but we will also see a quick round of rain moving from the north bay
6:09 am
and possibly into the east bay. so we'll talk more about the details of that rain coming up. mike is trying to save you a little bit of money at the gas pump. yeah, we're looking for less expensive places to fill up this morning. as we show you this chart here. gas prices are going to start with our low of the day. low in the bay castro valley 407. that's the best we can do, folks. united oil, castro valley boulevard. the south bay's low is still in san jose, but higher this week. as mentioned, it's 409 world gas on story road and then jumping up to the north bay, we jump up to 4.39. the last price for marin county's low. it's at 76 on marinwoo drive in san rafael. you check your sources, your areas and gasbuddy.com will get you right there on the roadways. we'll show you how things are shaping up this this tuesday morning, we're looking at this continuing issue, getting away from the castro valley y kohler commute eastbound 580. the earlier rv fire reports that it's reignited. and so they may have a crew out there. no injuries, but two right lanes are blocked opposite your commute westbound. your commute

coming into the area moves smoothly there. the dublin interchange all the way back to the altamont pass, where we do see that slowing. pretty typical there. back to you. thanks, mike. well, as mike would tell you, if you're about to hit the road, you're not alone. bay area drivers have some of the longest commutes in the country, but who has the worst? here at home. up next, we'll break down the worst commutes by the mile. and can alexa get any smarter? oh, definitely. but will it? that's the question. out to the futures this morning. wall street back to work after a monday holiday. break this time chunk. hey, mike. found a map. wow. you guys realize what we could do? i don't want to go on anymore. you're crazy. goonie adventure. meet mikey. hey, you guys! what? i wilk we're coming back. get ready for another goonie adventure, a sequel now under the all new details, we're learning about the 80s reboot when we return. stick aroun

i'm not happy with the way that pg&e handled the wildfires. yeah. yeah. i totally, totally understand. we're adding a ton of sensors. as soon as something comes in contact with the power line, it'll turn off so that there's not a risk that it's gonna fall to the ground and start a fire. okay. and i want you to be able to feel the improvements. we've been able to reduce wildfire risk from our equipment by over 90%.
6:13 am
that's something i want to believe. [skateboard sounds] with some mid 50s at 9:00 and mostly sunny. a sunshine continues today and it makes it into the low 60s for this afternoon. a really pleasant day here and across the bay area.
6:14 am
some of us may get some rain tomorrow. so a look at that coming up in the full microclimate forecast. and that south bay stretch of 101 right here in front of our camera. starting to build up a little bit, maybe a little early. we'll track those signs. but i do want to tell you that there will be track delays. the blue and gen line for the vta continue with their repair work or their restoration work. there's a bus bridge in place from nearby stops, but that might present a little bit of a delay for you on those tracks. we'll track those roads coming up. well good morning. very happy tuesday to you. wall street back to work after the holiday monday. there's talk that broadcom tsmc might get together some way by and split up intel. that would be the end of a storied company. hasn't happened yet. southwest airlines the latest company to lay off workers. the company says it will lose 750 employees at its texas headquarters. that'sbout 15% of the workforce. faa also making cuts ordered by musk and trump. about
6:15 am
300 unions say the cut at faa will just stretch the existing workers that much more thin. and we should point out, the faa is not only being cut by musk. the faa regulates musk and his space x projects. the securities and exchange commission, no longer pursuing a rule that would force publicly traded companies to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions. that new rule was tied up in courts, but the sec says it will no longer defend that case as it decides what to do next. president trump's been flying around with a giant gulf of america map in his airborne office this morning. the government of mexico says it may sue google for changing the name on its maps. at issue. trump's order only a applies to the american sea shelf in the gulf, not mexican waters. the mexican government warning google. under no circumstance will mexico accept the renaming of a geographic zone within its own territory and under its

6:17 am
that people in brentwood have the worst commute in the nation. and one of our editors can corroborate that. census bureau asked a sample of people about their daily commutes, and found that people in brentwood were driving an average of 46 minutes a day to work, the highest of any u.s. city. this is for data from 2023, and, of course, just the average. and before everybody started going back to work, about 38% of people in brentwood have a commute that is an hour or longer. meanwhile, in pittsburgh, the average is 41 minutes. in antioch, you'll drive about 40 minutes. san francisco 31. palo alto has the shortest average commute in the bay area, coming in at just 20 minutes. lucky palo alto is 20 for you. this morning. we're getting our first look at the next epic film from director christopher nolan. now, these are pictures of matt damon, who will star in an adaptation of homer's the odyssey. oakland natives indio will also star in

the film, along with her fiance, tom holland. the odyssey is produced by universal pictures, which owns nbc universal, our tv station parent company. of course, there is no release date just yet, but that film, and nolan's first since his work on the oscar winning best picture. oppenheimer. all right, this next film i am excited to talk about this morning. look at the movie theater. i'm so excited. okay, so for you this morning, an apparent second life for one of the most popular films in the 1980s. all right, so this means that parents who once saw it in theaters, they can decide to take their kids and could take grandkids as well. you can hear me. run, run. get ready for the sequel to the goonies. that is according to various reports, which also say steven spielberg and chris columbus will produce. still not clear if the original stars will be back or who might direct it, but in a cryptic social media post, which of course, we had dissected, the

6:20 am
some rain tomorrow, it's not going to last that long and mainly coming through the morning. so as we're making plans, take a look at this live view in san francisco this morning. as the sun is coming up, the clouds are clearing and we have that beautiful view of the bay bridge looking from oracle park. and then in martinez, we start out this morning at 43 degrees and a few of those clouds overhead as we go throughout the day, a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures in the upper 50. at noon going into the afternoon, there will be some clouds rolling by, but temperatures will be just a little bit warmer compared to yesterday and this evening. seeing those temperatures dropping fairly quickly will be at 58 degrees already at 6:00 and then seeing some low 50s later on tonight. but we are going to have a slight warm up across the bay area compared to yesterday, and it's going to be mostly sunny for the afternoon tomorrow. despite the clouds, we're still going to see these temperatures remaining about the same in the north bay. that's where we'll have the best chance of seeing some wet weather, and it wilbe in the low 60s. but
6:21 am
then as we go back to the clear skies on thursday, we're seeing those numbers coming right back up into the upper 60s. so this is what's coming our way. you can see the long line of clouds and aittle bit of some light rain moving into the pacific northwest. but this is not a very strong system and it's moving quickly. so here's how it times out for us in the bay area. starts out tomorrow morning at about 7 to 8:00. first moving into the north bay with some solid rain there. and then as it moves through the line of showers just kind of falls apart. so there may be some hit or miss rain in the east bay, but not expecting all of us to see that chance of showers in the morning, and then clearing out for all of us in the afternoon. and then looking ahead for gilroy. the 7-day forecast shows that we'll see temperatures in the 60s through thursday, and then look at the spring like temperatures that are coming our way for the weekd into the mid 70s on sunday in gilroy. and we also will see the warm weather continue into next week. still no rain in the forecast beyond
6:22 am
tomorrow, so that one little quick shower is all we'll see for at least the next seven days. and mike, you've been watching the commute. things starting to pick up there. yeah they are picking up here pretty standard over at the bay bridge in fact. look at that. there's a little break i'm going to watch for anything in the maze in the next few minutes. sometimes that disturbance will make that break in the traffic. there we see the build out of richmond. we see the build through richmond and then over in the north bay. we had an issue, a break, actually, a traffic break was called or the potential for that. we see slowing southbound 101 toward tiburon boulevard. that's highway or state route 131 or earlier issues with a disabled vehicle. they may have cleared it in thehe last fe minutes, which is why they cleared the icon from the area. we'll double check that so far. that's of course, coming down toward the golden gate bridge, going away from the castro valley. why? we still have two lanes blocked by an earlier rv fire. no injuries and the commute direction is moving smoothly. south bay will start building soon. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. 622 for you this morning. next here on today in the bay nbc bay area responds. it's hardly a

view in san rafael. it's 43 degrees and we'll see a nice day with a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures headed for the mid 60s this afternoon. and mike, you're saying even though it's tuesday, it seems like a pretty regular commute? yeah, a standard tuesday, which means a good amount of traffic. here is the richmond bridge heading over towards san rafael. we've seen it build over the course of the last half hour. there we go. so that's the reason why there's more slowing out of richmond and through richmond. actually, things he calmed down down into berkeley, where traffic is migrating toward the berkeley curve. see more backup there, approaching the full bay bridge toll plaza as we look over fartrther sou. we had an earlier rv fire. i believe everything is cleared from all lanes. eastbound 580 westbound does show slowing, but i believe that's just the morning commute kicking in toward the castro valley, castro valley, y through castro valley up to 38, and then down 880 toward the san mateo bridge, which is moving nicely as well. in the south bay, we do have slowing northbound 101. there's a crash around brokaw that should be cleared to the shoulder. i'll double check. so far, normal for the south bay.

back to you. thanks, mike. well, we continue to follow breaking news this morning out of the east bay. concord police. they have surrounded a neighborhood. a bob redell is at the scene there and observed a neighbor comforting a woman whose husband and son may have had a confrontation. police are still not revealing the focus of that investigation. but as soon as we get more details, of course we will pass those along to you right here on air, as well as on our website, nbcbayarea.com. well, developing now, this morning we are getting a look at the scary moments aboard a delta airlines flight. 18 people are now recovering after they were hurt when the plane overturned upon landing at toronto pearson international airport. that plane had taken off from minneapolis. this is new video from another runway. and it shows that jet making a very hard landing. seconds after touchdown, you can see that plane flip over and then go up in flames. everything. drop it.

come on. so this was the chaotic exit from that plane once it was on the ground. amazingly, all 76 passengers and four crew members on board survived this. the passenger who shot this video, now speaking out about the harrowing ordeal on the today show and the moment he knew something was wrong. to be honest, i didn't really notice anything wrong until the moment we hit the ground. other people were saying they might have. i'm not really sure what, but for me it was just kind of like the wheels touched down and then all of a sudden i was in the window seat on the lookers left side, and then all of a sudden we're just. i just remember being fully sideways, and i was looking down and just seeing, like, sparks and flames and whatever was grinding against the ground. okay, so though the plane took off from the us, the transptation safety board of canada is looking into what went

wrong. u.s. transportation secretary sean duffy says faa investigators also heading to toronto to help with that investigation. now, this accident marks the fourth major commercial air disisaster th year, raising some concerns about aviation safety. and this comes as president trump's administration sent out termination notices to hundreds of workers within the faa over the weekend. today in the bay, ginger conejero saab is live at sfo. and ginger, the firings at this point don't appear to involve anybody who worked in those towers themselves. that's what we understand so far, chris and marcus. but hundreds of workers within the faa did receive termination notices. they include mechanics, information specialists, aviation safety assistants, among others. now, in a post on x late monday, transportation secretary sean duffy confirmed that fewer than 400 faa employees were fired and says, quote, zero air traffic controllers and critical safety

feel safe to fly? the majority of people really say, you know, cars are more dangerous to get in every day. now the faa employs 45,000 people. what we're hearing so far is that these termination notices have been sent out to hundreds of people. so some say these won't be as impactful. however, others are saying that these positions still need to get filled quickly because it's part of a bigger system. in san francisco, ginger conejero saab. today in the bay. all right. thank you ginger. we also have new developments as members of a peninsula boxing gym are remembering one of their own who died far too young and a valentine's day stabbing. this happened at santana row in san jose. and we're not identifying that 15 year-old boy just yet. but redwood city gladiators boxing gym posted on social media that he was like family there. they also shared a gofundme page saying that he was stabbed in the heart while on a date with his girlfriend. last night we spoke with a gym trainer there who says he worked with that victim over the past

disciplinary action. 638 for you right now. look at this. sun's coming up. little outline there of the mountains in the distance. meteorologist kari hall has a look at it. just as pleasant temperature for us out there this morning. yeah, it's a cold start. and you can see a little bit of that fog rolling over 580. but it's clear here at the golden gate bridge as you're getting this tuesday started, more people are going back to work. and it's a morning where a lot of us are in the 40s to start, but then headed for the upper 50s at 1:00 and eventually making it into the low 60s for today. mostly sunny for a lot of the bay area today, with a high of 64 expected in oakland, as well as napa and san jose will reach that max temperature of 66 degrees today. tomorrow some of us get some rain, so we'll talk about that timeline and where coming up. but now, mike, you have a new crash in the east bay. we do now your usual suspects. we have the bay bridge, the richmond bridge. they're moving smoothly. so is the east shore freeway. the issue is 680, though. it's really starting to build as far
6:40 am
as the volume and a crash south 680 right around tree may be blockingng two lanes. that's toh timing. coming down through concord and pleasant hill toward the walnut creek interchange, which was building right in that corridor. so we're watching again. two lanes reported blocked a number of vehicles involved. no major injuries reported. we'll track that 680 continues to build, of course, through pleasanton off the dublin interchange. that's typical. same thing for the same latitude for 880 off the castro valley y and then down in toward fremont, now highway 84 demarcating where the slowdown happens. over here, we're looking at northbound routes throughout the south bay. no major issues, just the build for 101 87. should see some blips. there you go. and also 237 coming across. back to you. thanks, mike. i don't have to tell you guys eggs. they can be very hard to find these days because of the bird flu. and when you do find them, they're hard to afford. next, the drastic measures some californians are taking to get eggs at a decent price. and the russians and the americans are talking about peace in ukraine.
6:41 am
but where are the ukrainians? we'll take a look. coming up. and a beloved skating rink in the south bay, hoping to have another chance at life. the reason it has been forced to close its doors, and the steps owners are taking to try to save the business. keep it right here. much more ahead.

international travelers to take some extreme measures. as the bird flu jacks up prices across the u.s. because of a shortage. some visitors returning from mexico are trying to smuggle eggs back into the u.s. and that is, of course, a big no no. customs and border protection seized them at the border. experts say if youind a few eggs have accidentally ended up in your suitcase, you must declare them laying eggs in your suitcase. okay, you still don't get to keep the eggs. you are likely to end up with a warning if you do declare them though, so failure to declare them could result in a fine of up to $10,000. i wonder if that applies to like cooked eggs. if you're just planning to eat that egg at the airport, i don't know. just don't do it. eat it before you get to the next country. i mean, we can't afford it anyway. all right, well, there is a huge change in american policy. the us is actually talking to russians so far, squeezing out ukraine and all of europe. scott. usually when you try to get people to work something out, you have both people. you have everyone

come together because they've all got, you know, skin in the game, right? ukraine has long said it cannot accept a peace deal if they're not there to make the deal. and our european allies are worried too. europe's given just as muchoney and weaponry to ukraine, and the war is in its backyard. but only america and russia are meeting. okay, i know this video is jerky and jostling, but i actually wanted to take you behind the scenes in saudi arabia, as photographers are very briefly allowed into the room where the american and russian delegations are talking. america has repeatedly said no deal on ukraine without ukraine. president trump said something similar last week, but ukraine is not at the table. the russians were there on the right, including foreign minister lavrov. americans, you can see on the left marco rubio there in the center, closest to the bottom of the screen is the fellow with his head down. he is trump's special envoy to ukraine. for yrs now, the u.s. has refused to even speak with russian officials trying to isolate the country after its

invasion of ukraine three years ago. in this sense, no matter what happens at the talks, the video you just saw huge win for russia. add to that the president's closest adviser and world's richest man, elon musk, publicly praising russian officials. this is what competent leadership looks like, says the tesla ceo. also, a huge win for saudi crown prince mohammed bin salman, who just a few years ago was considered a pariah for his role in the murder of journalist jamal khashoggi. sitting with the secretary of state, rubio, mbs, as he's known, is now a statesman hosting the peace talks. and what of zelensky? well, he's not there, he told the kyiv post. he thinks president trump wants a quick win, no matter the cost to ukraine, and says a cease fire is not a win. the ceasefire in israel between israel and gaza continues to hold. hamas released more hostages over the weekend. visiting u.s. senator lindsey graham warned israel

maybe his own government, too. they have got to have a better plan for palestinians in the arab world. israel has won the war on the ground, but they've lost it on television. you go anywhere in the arab world and all they see is morning, noon and night. attacks on the palestinian people. my promise to the people of israel and to this region is not to give up. i am very optimistic. we will break through. and let me tell you why. there's no other solution. you can destroy hamas, and we will. but they will come back unless the palestinians have something to live for. and israel has security to make sure there's no other. october 7th. back here at home, a group of cal university students have lost a court case that would have blocked elon musk's access to their private records through the education department. the judge in the case said he could not find or the students could

not prove. rather, they'd be injured by that access. the interim head of social security has quit her job rather than allow musk access to americans private social security records. musk and his doge team say they are looking for evidence in fraud. musk is also implying on social media the gold stored in fort knox might not be there. starting very close to a right wing conspiracy theory shared online claiming that terrible flooding in kentucky was a plot to rob fort knox. marcus. all right, scott,, thank you. let's take a live look out in san francisco this morning. that's where later today, mayor daniel lurie will announce new steps to boost the return of downtown nightlife. follow steps taken last year to create the so-called entertainment zones. those will allow alcohol to be sold outdoors one time only, for special events in specific areas. right now, the details on mayor lowry's plan are not known, but it's still being built as a means to spur more economic recovery. the news

conference will take place in union square. and new for you this morning. the end of the line is almost near for a popular san jose or south bay, i should say roller skating rink. but you know what? the owner is still hopeful about chartering a path. yeah, she says she's still going to be here for the community. this is san jose's aloha fun center, which started six years as a pop up at eastridge mall. it was only supposed to stick around for a couple of months during the holidays, but it was so successful and people loved it so much that the manager was able to extend the lease on a yearly basis. and up until now, six years later, she says the new closure date is set for march 23rd. i grew up roller skiing at the original aloha roller palace that was on snell and blossom hill, and it was such ann immense part of my upbringing. it was where i spent every weekend. i was, you know, it was my social circle. it was where i had all my friends. it's, you know, i competed and i and i played roller derby. i learned how to fall and get back
6:50 am
up. and this is kind of like falling and getting back up. we are losing our space, but we will get back up. she says she is still looking for a new location, but she says the deal at the mall was a great experience for everyone involved as long as it was available. it's not clear what plans eastridge mall has for that location, but apparently they do, and that's why they couldn't do one more year. yeah, she brought the roller rink to the circle of palms instead of ice one year. that was a neat treat. and so i got to how i got to meet her as well. so i grew up roller skating back in my day was in a skating rink. hey, i went to wagon wheel. wow. yeah. my auntie jane used to take us all the time. yeah, i went to a place called robin's roost. ooh. robin's roost. that's fancy. i mean, listen, we have so much studio space here. you see it through our raptor camera. yeah. somebody's going to be really mad if we look at that. look at all this space. floors are slippery. you know, i don't know. i know somebody named willie who will be really upset about that. i'm just saying
6:51 am
there's some some waivers to be signed. it's so slick in here. we kind of skate without skates on walking across the studio. so i'm going to skate over here to the right. be careful. take a look. be careful. yeah. here's a look at our beautiful view of the golden gate bridge. the sun rising. just a few clouds there. lots of colors in the sky. and it's a great start to the day where a lot of people are heading back to work. now, in union city, we're at 45 degrees. it's all clear. a little bit of a chill to the air as we're getting started, but a gradual warm up is on trend and it will actually be a little bit warmer than what we typically see for mid february, with a high of 64 in hayward, as well as palo alto and 64 in napa. tomorrow the temperatures remain about the same. even though we're going to see more clouds, it just drops a couple of degrees in some spots, and the north bay will have the best chance of seeing that rain. by thursday, we're clearing out and temperatures rebound once again. it's been a while since
6:52 am
we we've had weather this warm, but it will be headed our way by the middle of the week while we compare our 60s and even 70s in the forecast. take a look at the high temperatures across much of the rest of the country. just to the east of us, they're looking at highs. these are high temperatures in the single digits and teens. and that goes all the way down to kansas city, where we are seeing that cold air coming in from the arctic plunging further south, as we're also getting some snow coming down on areas that we're dealing with, some devastating flooding over kentucky right now where it's under water in a lot of spots. now, there are some snow falling here in the bay area. we are looking at some clear conditions now, but look at the clouds, that long line of moisture extending into the pacific northwest. and this will be coming in tomorrow moving fairly quickly. and it's also weakening. so by the time it gets to the north bay by 7 to 8:00 in the morning, we're seeing the line of rain just kind of falling apart. and it's going to be pretty hit or miss
6:53 am
for other areas. but that chance of rain, mainly late morning into the early afternoon. and then we're clear again for tomorrow evening. and then temperatures warm up as we return to sunshine in the forecast. look at the weekend. we're making plans to get outside. it will be in the low 70s for the inland areas and 60 near the coast. and mike, you're seeing the delay building up for cocoa county. yeah. because of this crash, 4 or 5 vehicles involved, a couple of lanes blocked southbound. 680. your commute direction, and it's jamming up the build. it doesn't matter if you take 242 or 680 off of highway four. they both end up in the backup. once you're south of monument, it looks like everything's okay toward the walnut creek interchange. pleasant hill really jammed up on 680 itself. the rest of the contra costa county drive looks pretty standard. highway four feeds into that backup over here. there may be a car fire alongside the east shore freeway. i'll check on that. back to you. thank you. mike. happening now. police are hoping that an updated car description might help solve a deadly hit and run in hayward. this
