to the company, a flash food user is saving about $1,000 a year on the groceries. ceo of flash food says th it also helps keep food out of landfills. since we started out, we have diverted over 150 million pounds of food away from landfills, and we've saved shoppers over $300 million across the 33 u.s. states that we operate in. and the ten canadian provinces. ceo says that san leandro based supermarket chain lucky stores is partnering with flash food, and you can download that app for free right now on the app store. well, you know what? today you have your first chance to get your hands on tickets. this is for one of the biggest music festivals right here in the bay area. i'm talking about outside lands. it arrives at san francisco's golden gate park in august. it's always a big event, and at 10:00 this morning, the eager beaver presale starts. organizers say it's the lowest prices possible for those three day tickets. general admission starts at under $500. vip passes

start to seehose numbers rebounding and getting closer to what's normal for this time in march, with highs in the low 60s. so we're looking at most of us getting anywhere from a 10th of an inch of rain in oakland to possibly a half inch of rain in palo alto. you can see how those rain totals increase as you head farther south. while the north bay may not see much at all this time around, for the sierra going into the weekend, a decent amount of snow coming down about five inches for south lake tahoe, up to 12in for kingvale, but check out what we may see coming next week. additional snow and well, as the storms in the bay area, we're going to see quite a bit of some bay area rain sierra snow, which we always look out for that summer water storage when we get that snow in the sierra. so it's going to be a nice weekend with sunshine and warmer temperatures. and mike, you were pointing out a couple of things in the north bay. nothing dramatic, but i did want to show you the little sensor change

over here. we predict for highway 37. and then there was a little bit registering on the road weather index across the bay, maybe rio vista. i-10 over here near the sluice. we have some standing water. not a major issue. overnight it happened and there's nothing currently going on in that area. as kari talked about, we have most of the activity here in the south bay coming across in through the sunol area. we're looking at san jose, sunnyvale, los gatos, where you have some slippery roadways, so do use caution. some of that rain did come through fremont, but right now the traffic and the traction looking just fine as far as 880 goes southbound heading down into the south bay. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. 22 after the hour. coming up next on tay in the bay, nbc bay area responds viewers enduring groundhog day appliance edition. i'm consumer investigator cis chmurahr

nbc bay area responds to a south bay woman who wound up with four different refrigerators in just a few months. she was g going in circles with the store, so she tapped into consumer good morning. carol in santaeam. clara had a leaky fridge, and we're going to call that fridge number one. the thing is, techs couldn't fix it, so they ordered her fridge number two under her warranty. but carol says fridge number two was the wrong model. sears hauled it away and delivered fridge number three. guess what? carol says fridge number three was also the wrong model. she says sears wouldn't
5:26 am
send her a replacement, so she reached out to us. we contacted sears. it said this the delivery company should not have hooked up the refrigerator and removed her old one, since they were aware that it was not the correct model. sears then delivered the correct model. carol sent us a nice note and said, i am truly gratefu for your attention to this matter. that took me eight months with no resolution. and there's the new refrigerator. carol was smart to keep an eye on her warranty. she was aware of her actions and she fought for them, which is super important when you pay for your warranty. it's baked into the price of whatever it is you're buying, so you should get your money's worth. if you have a consumer issue on ice, maybe we can deliver some results. snap the qr code on screen right now to fill out our consumer complaint form online. thanks, chris. well, coming up next, the top stories we're following for you today, including president trump delivering his address to congress. ahead, scott mcgrew

i'm not happy with the way that pg&e handled the wildfires. yeah. yeah. i totally, totally understand. we're adding a ton of sensors. as soon as something comes in contact with the power line, it'll turn off so that there's not a risk that it's gonna fall to the ground and start a fire. okay. and i want you to be able to feel the improvements. we've been able to reduce wildfire risk from our equipment by over 90%. that's something i want to believe. to elon musk. president trump talks about a variety of topics in last night's speech. we'll have the highlights. plus, the fate of embattled sheriff christina corpus may fall on county supervisors. we're live this morning with early results from voters and a rainy s startn this wednesday morning. our team is tracking your morning commute. also, meteorologist kari hall has a look at when the skies will clear up. this is today in the bay. good wednesday morning. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia. and i'm marcus washington. let's get you caught up with that forecast this morning. meteorologist kari hall tracking some rain across the bay area this morning. and are we going to see that throughout the day? it's going to be in some spots. and mainly this morning. we're not going to see this rain continue all day. a lot of it has been targeting the peninsula, the south bay, as well as the east bay and areas to the central coast. farther south, we're looking at storm ranger showing the activity
5:31 am
that's moving through palo alto, as well as san jose, extending over toward fremont and then farther south, where morgan hill and gilroy has a very soggy commute. this morning in concord, rain chances will be very spotty, staying cloudy, and every now and then you'll see some light rain coming through. temperatures though staying on the cool side, it will be well below what's normal for this time of year. staying in the 50s into the afternoon. we'll talk about another chance of rain in our forecast tomorrow. that's coming up. mike. now you see a road closure in the south bay. i do now the green highlighting here. unlike yours, you have radar signs on the roadway itself. you might have some damp, slicker roadways. it's not because of the rain that we have a road closure. i'm going to zoom up here to milpitas, where we had a water main break last night. and as i understand it, we still have those eastbound lanes of calaveras boulevard closed from hillview that's approaching 680 and the onramp. so you want to probably go over to jacqueline just a bit to the north or candice to the south if you want to access 680 itself, coming out of milpitas and
5:32 am
heading over into the rest of the east bay, there's some damp roadways south of sunol, but north of there we're looking at a build for highway four. highway 37, and of course at the bay bridge. no surprises. back to you all. thanks, mike. well, this morning. reaction still coming in after president trump addressed a joint session of congress last night. scott mcgrew i watched it. and no surprise here it is the longest presidential address in modern times. it was. it was a ways, wasn't it? yeah, more than an hour and a half. you've no doubt heard the address will be called the state of the union when he returns next year. but this first term speech isn't called that. he touched on a lot of topics last night, including ukraine, saying he was pleased with ukrainian president zelensky's social post yesterday calling for more peace talks, talked about the effect tariffs will have on our economy. some short term disturbance, he said tariffs are about making america rich again and making america great again. and it's happening and it will happen rather
5:33 am
quickly. there will be a little disturbance, but we're okay with that. it won't be much. now speaking of disturbances, congressman al green of texas disturbed the speech byeckling trump from the crowd. green worried about proposed cuts to medicaid, the health care system that takes care of america's poor. we're going to talk more about that issue in the future. but the quick thumbnail is republicans want to cut taxes. but to do that without the democrats help, which they're not going to get, they have to find an equivalent amount of money to cut. so that will be so much money. it's got to come from something that costs a lot of money, like medicaid. president trump spent a lot of time talking about democrats, biden in particular, mentioning a previous president far more often than we've seen from other speeches, though in the end, after blasting democrats, he called for bipartisanship. so democrats sitting before me for
5:34 am
just this one night, why not join us in celebrating so many incredible wins for ameca? for the good of our nation? let's work together and let's truly make america great again. president trump praised elon musk, saying his doge had saved hundreds of billions of dollars. now that's not true. even doge isn't using numbers that big. doge is. numbers are smaller and those are not very trustworthy. the new york times has listed dozens of examples of sloppy accounting. here's the president because we are draining the swamp. it's very simple. and the days of rule by unelected bureaucrat are over. a lot of people quick to point out elon musk is an unelected bureaucrat. democrat elissa slotkin from

michigan delivered the democratic response, concentrating most on the economy. he's going to make you pay in every part of your life. grocery and home pri either of . his tariffs on allies like canada will raise prices on energy, lumber and cars and start a trade war that will hurt manufacturing and farmers. your premiums and prescriptions will cost more because the math on his proposals doesn't work without going after your health care. meanwhile, for those keeping score, the national debt is going up, not down. the next big challenge passing a budget, or at least a continuing resolution to keep the government open, passed last week. marcus. all right, scott, thank you. well, san mateo county sheriff christina corpus future appears to be in the hands of the board of supervisors. this as early results of that special election show. voters supported giving them the power to remove her from office. well, today in the
5:36 am
bay's kris sanchez joining us now from redwood city. this is the county seat there. so, kris, the votes are in. what happens next? well, most of the votes are in. and at this point, marcus, it looks like the voters have spoken again. some of the voters who voted sheriff christina corpus presumably now voted to give the power to the county supervisors to remove her from that office. now, san mateo county elections workers are still counting the ballots this morning, but early results are overwhelmingly in favor of measure a. the measure changes the county charter to allow supervisors to vote to remove the sheriff from office in an amendment, for it is an amendment that four of the five supervisors, state and federal elected leaders, and labor unions publicly supported. and voters we talked with say they were concerned about the precedent this sets. others, though, say they're ready to move forward. it had been out in the open and we should have had a recall election. not this. i
5:37 am
think it would set up a negative trend for the future, that any time somebody is not happy with somebody, they create a charter amendment. i voted yes, vote corruption out. sheriff christina corpus is accused of abuse of power, of making racist and homhobic remarks, and of jailing the deputy union's president in retaliation for exposing the corruption in the department. these are charges that she denies. now, many of the accusations were detailed in a 400 page report by an independent investigator, retired santa clara county judge ladoris cordell. now, the sheriff has repeatedly denied all of these allegations against her, saying that the attacks are politically motivated, in particular because she's a woman. she did not respond to our request for comment about this special election. but if the measure passes, she still has one recourse, and that is to appeal to the board of supervisors to not remove her

from office. in redwood city, kris sanchez today in the bay. and there's also that $10 million lawsuit that she's filed as well. all right, chris, thank you. a group of rv dwellers in san francisco say they're now in limbo awaiting new housing after authorities this week shut down the city's only safe parking site. our crew yesterday counted about a dozen rvs on a nearby street near the now closed city run safe rv park in the bay view. some of them say, while the city followed through on its threat to evict them on monday, park operators in the days prior told them they would only have to leave once alternate housing was found. many say they feel like the city went back on its word and treated them unfairly, as they were shown the door. how do you think the city handled this yesterday? horrifically. people were very pressured. they rounded everybody up. they told everybody everything's getting locked up at five and threw us out. they said the sheriff's coming. we did request a
5:39 am
response from both the mayor's office and the city's department of homelessness and supportive housing. neither got back to us. we do know the mayor's office is launching a new homeless prevention pilot program with a nonprofit founded by mayor daniel lurie before he took office. up to 1500 families will be able to enroll starting in april. now over in oakland with a follow up for you this morning, where oakland leaders have approved a new mid-year funding. this is to keep four fire stations open, even as the city grapples with a major budget crisis. council members last night approving more than $8 million in funding for four stations that had been slated to temporarily close. three other stations remain closed and are expected to remain that way through june. this is when the next fiscal year begins. the city is only about one third of the way through its necessary budget cuts. new this morning, sonoma county library employees are planning to unite to demand better staffing. the library staff plans to confront the library commission over what they say is inadequate staffing.
5:40 am
library branch manager says sonoma county should invest funds into libraries so people have uninterrupted access to books. those employees plan to rally at the rohnert park cotati regional library at 6:00 tonight. we reached out to the library commission for comment. let's take a live look this morning out in dublin. see folks on the road. but it is still dark and early for you. meteorologist kari hall tracking what you can't see out there. and that's potential rain in the sky. yes. so you may have to turn on the windshield wipers during your commute this morning in parts of the bay area. we haven't yet seen it make it to dublin, but we have seen it in parts of the south bay as well as into the peninsula. and throughout the next several hours, we'll start to seehis rain picking up and creating a wet drive on 580, as well as heading into fremont as well. the south bay has been seeing some rain off and on for the past couple of hours, and the rain chances will begin to decrease by about 9 to 10:00 this morning. still some lingering rain in the south bay
